HO HO Holy shit...I'm making the same joke I made last year! That's right! I lack creativity. So deal with it and get ready to deal with another episode of gaming news, movie reviews, a brand-new holiday themed tournament, the Stinkos, the Sweetos, and the everything Betweenos. The year may be winding down, but the news just won't quit. New games like Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs and a remaster of Beyond Good & Evil are still being announced. The year isn't even done with game releases, as FF7 Ever Crisis and Cookie Cutter are releasing this month. It's not too soon to start planning for next year with games like Cupid Parasite: Sweet & Spicy Darling and Unfortold: Witchstone scheduled for 2024 releases. The holidays may be the season of cheer and goodwill, but it is also the season of long cold nights. After a long day of working and a long night of holiday shopping, it might be nice to go home and relax. Sit down in your favorite chair, light up the fireplace, pour yourself an ice-cold eggnog, and roll that holiday kush for an evening of Hollywood entertainment. Disney's best TV show returns for a second season of time skipping with the mischievous god, Loki. Max adds a new superhero to the live action roster, the Blue Beetle. For those who prefer to see their movies in a theater, the Marvels and Godzilla Minus One might not be couch ready but they are definitely worth the time. The holidays maybe a time of joyful celebration but it wouldn't be RPGrinders without the Stinkos! Crooked politicians always make the Stinko list, even when they die. Some members of our government continue to ramp up their war on minority groups. They continue to push their religious views and disproven conspiracies about the LGBTQ+ community. These joy hating scrooges want to force gay orphans to live under religious oppression. Bah humbug to the scrooges. Bah humbug * 1000 to the genocidal maniacs and their bloodlust. The Stinkos may be naughty but the Sweetos are here to bring back the nice for this holiday season. What would the holidays be like without family? Less stressful. Family can be great but it can be just as great to get away from bad family members. As Frank celebrate his victory on the home front, another Grinder makes a tiny step in finding his Pride. Break got some new gay earrings. They are only gay because he is wearing them. The holiday season just wouldn't be the same without a new tournament! That's right! What better way to celebrate the holidays than a tournament death match?! The 32 best holiday movies! Christmas, New Years Eve, Hanukkah, and even Groundhogs Day go head-to-head but there can only be one day of Christmas! Can Will Farrell's Buddy the Elf save Christmas and slay the tournament competition? (Victory tastes good but not as good as syrup on spaghetti.) Will Bill Murray's character reform his life while dodging Bobcat's shotgun and physically abusive ghosts? (He could really use a proton pack.) Does Adam Sandler's character find redemption after 8 Crazy Nights and give the only Hanukkah movie the power to fight the "War on Christmas"? ("The War on Christmas" lol some people are very stupid.) Is Die Hard the best holiday movie? (John McClain kills terrorists and blows shit up while dropping funny quips. What could be more Christmas than that?) Does Batman's holiday Return strike fear into the hearts of the competition? (It should. Three words: Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman.) Can Bill Murray and the rest of the Ghostbuster's save the new year from a genocidal ghost and 31 other holiday movies? (SEE! Told you he could have used a proton pack.) Will Krampus be able to overcome all of the Holiday cheer? (Note to self: In the middle of a blizzard. Don't let your teenage daughter walk to her boyfriend's house.) Is representing two holidays cheating? (Trading Places says no.) Is Jim Carrey's green meanie going to steal Christmas from the happy little Woos and victory from the rest of the tournament competitors? (Jim Carrey was MEANT to play characters with green faces.) The holidays are just beginning. Time is running out. So if you kiddies haven't tricked your parents into thinking you were a good kid all year long, you still have some time! Just like all good kids, be sure to download RPGrinders and listen every week! All good parents make sure their children never miss an episode. Important Announcement. Repeat after me: Die Hard IS a Christmas movie. Gremlins IS a Christmas movie. Lethan Weapon IS a Christmas movie. Groundhog's Day is NOT a Christmas movie. You better not cry. You better not shout. The RPGrinders know if you have been Stinko or Sweeto.
Mike talks about the manga Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs and the light novel *shudder* A Sister's All You Need. Scott gives his final thoughts on Trigun Stampede.
*Recorded February 10, 2022* Rapper Fights. Valentines Day. Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs. Marvel Netflix Shows. NBA Trade Deadline. D Rose Deserved Better. Ty'Riq (@t_d1no) and Carli (@carliyoshizawa) are two guys who spend an hour and a half or so saying "out of pocket" things and call it comedy. They might just be bored honestly. For a show about hot spring resorts this show has a lot of anime BPM to it (Breasts per Minute). That's right we are on Ecchi on the 10's and we are excited to expose the world to Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs. This is a show that frantically shows so much nudity it often doesn't need a plot. It holds such a special place in Ecchi history that the guys decided to join their own WIVES into the conversation. Is there a law of diminishing returns on nudity? Would you let a baby tanuki fondle you? Does Kogarashi just need better footwear? Find out all this and more as we figure out how panties lead to better ping pong playing. Black Lives Matter. Manga Mavericks stands in support of Black Americans and against the systemic racism and violence perpetrated by the police and the U.S. government. There are many ways to help the Black Lives Matter movement, be it engaging in the protests yourselves or by donating to those fighting on the front lines. We’ve included links in the description of this podcast for people to learn more about petitions to sign and places to donate. We’ve donated all of our Patreon earnings from this year and hundreds of our own dollars to Bail Funds and Charities supporting progressive movements for change across the country, and if you can give, we strongly encourage you to do so. Otherwise, you can even watch videos donating all their ad money to charities too. Again, there are many ways to help, and every bit counts. To quote a great moment from The Boondocks: "What do you do when you can't do nothing, but there's nothing you can do?" "You do what you can." In that spirit, we’re also supporting and amplifying Black creatives in our community. We’ll be leaving links to them and their work, and links of where to find other great Black creatives doing great work in this community. Please check all these fine folks out. We’ll also be leaving links to organizations, charities, and petitions to help support Black Lives Matter protests and victims of police brutality. There’s another tragic bit of news we also must address: Zac Bertschy passed away on the week of May 19th, 2020. Zac was the executive editor in chief at Anime News Network, overseeing its editorial department. He was the host of ANNcast, the writer of Vice and Luna, and the original Answerman. He was always, in my eyes, the face, voice, and heart of Anime News Network. We’ll be leaving links to various people’s tributes and memories of Zac, including the final ANNcast, and links to some of the work of his I really appreciated over the years, including Answerman, ANNcast, Vice & Luna, his reviews of Death Parade and Keep Your Hands off Eizouken, and many others. There’s so much to say about Zac Bertschy and the legacy he’s left. But right now, there’s just one thing that I must say: Rest in Peace, Zac. See you over the rainbow. This is a news episode that was delayed and made sort of out of date because of the above stories and others that happened almost immediately after we recorded it in mid-May. Please keep that in mind as you listen through that there’s a lot of parts re-recorded or added on after the fact. That said, we had a lot to cover, including the endings of some popular series, new license announcements, COVID-related delays, Netflix additions, and the titular question on everyone’s mind: Who Did Sesshomaru FUCK?! There’s plenty of news we don’t cover in this episode we’ll get to in a future installment, but it’s good to break these things up anyway lest we have another four-hour long podcast. You can be sure that this will also not be the last time we discuss Black Lives Matter and have conversations on important political and social topics on the show either. What’s going on matters way more than any of the manga we talk about, so while we hope to entertain with our podcast, we also want to make sure we don’t distract from what’s going on in the world and are amplifying voices and causes that matter. Bcom, Leo, and Kat finish up the second half of Summer 2018’s first impressions with weekly shows airing from Friday to Sunday. We attempt to understand metaphorical giraffes in Revue Starlight and Leo gives us a full medical diagnosis of what makes Cells at Work! one of the best ways to learn about the human body. Meanwhile we can’t stop laughing at Asobi Asobase’s brilliant comedic direction. Finally, we take sides on the intergalactic dog vs. cat conflict in Planet With before finishing up with a breakdown of the first two episodes of what is looking to be an excellent new season of Attack on Titan. Stay tuned to the end where we vote on the top 10 shows we will be following for the rest of the season. The hosts all brought different strategies to the vote this time, which made for a dramatic finale!Recorded August 7, 2018.Timestamps:4:08 - Chio’s School Road10:37 - Angels of Death16:33 - Harukana Receive22:28 - Happy Sugar Life30:38 - Grand Blue Dreaming36:34 - My Hero Academia season 343:08 - Revue Starlight53:40 - Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs1:01:34 - Cells at Work!1:13:28 - The Master of Ragnarok & Blesser of Einherjar1:17:43 - Music Girls1:20:08 - Asobi Asobase - workshop of fun –1:31:11 - Planet With1:42:49 - Island1:46:30 - We Rent Tsukumogami1:52:17 - Hanebado!1:59:29 - Lord of Vermilion: The Crimson King2:02:18 - High Score Girl2:06:05 - Attack on Titan season 32:18:42 - The Vote!Twitter: https://twitter.com/NerdomandOtheriTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/nerdom-and-other-nonsense/id1203061952Google Play: https://play.google.com/music/m/Iuqfigskscnxqhhatxmfyrec7gi?t=Nerdom_and_Other_NonsenseStitcher: https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/nerdomandothernonsense/nerdom-and-other-nonsense-anime-podcast

Bcom, Leo, and Kat are back to preview the Summer 2018 anime season that has just kicked off. This time, we have the delightful and hilarious Mandi from the Anime Addicts Anonymous Podcast on the show to help us get hype for shark-toothed boys and high score girls! Mercifully, this season Japan has decided to, ya know, maybe not broadcast every single anime at the same time like they did this Spring. That being said, there are still a few sexy sequels returning, and a few promising productions starting anew. Stay tuned for the predictions section at the end of our previews for a fun runback of our Spring predictions, and our new predictions for Summer.Recorded June 29, 2018.Timestamps:3:56 – Attack on Titan season 37:09 – Overlord III9:35 – FLCL Progressive11:15 – Angels of Death18:03 – How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord21:46 – Free!: Dive to the Future (season 3)24:27 – Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs28:33 – Grand Blue32:12 – Tenrou: Sirius the Jaeger35:14 – Island38:38 – Gintama: Shirogane no Tamashii-hen 240:03 – The Master of Ragnarok & Blesser of Einherjar43:00 – Banana Fish47:03 – Back Street Girls: Gokudolls50:45 – Shichisei no Subaru52:43 – Chio’s School Road54:55 – Happy Sugar Life58:12 – High Score Girl1:01:42 – Harukana Receive1:05:06 – Hanebado!1:09:41 – Jashin-chan Dropkick1:11:32 – Cells at Work!1:15:10 – Miss Caretaker of Sunohara-sou1:17:57 – Mr. Tanegawa1:20:23 – One Room 2nd Season1:23:32 – Kyoto Teramachi Sanjou no Holmes1:25:41 – Muhyo & Roji’s Bureau of Supernatural Investigations1:28:46 – Lord of Vermillion: Guren no Ou1:31:27 – Angolmois: Genkou Kassenki1:33:22 – Asobi Asobase1:34:56 – Phantom in the Twilight1:36:42 – Yama no Susume: Third Season1:38:00 – Shoujo☆Kageki Revue Starlight1:39:49 – 100 Sleeping Princes and the Kingdom of Dreams1:40:51 – Senjuushi: The Thousand Noble Musketeers1:41:53 – Ani ni Tsukeru Kusuri wa Nai! 21:42:15 – Tsukumogami Kashimasu1:43:31 – PREDICTIONS!Twitter: https://twitter.com/NerdomandOtheriTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/nerdom-and-other-nonsense/id1203061952?mt=2Google Play: https://play.google.com/music/m/Iuqfigskscnxqhhatxmfyrec7gi?t=Nerdom_and_Other_Nonsense
