Inte minst Rysslands engagemang har intensifierats – och det handlar om betydligt mer än bara kortsiktig opportunism. Med en långsiktig vision om en multipolär världsordning använder Kreml en bred verktygslåda av militära, ekonomiska och informationsmässiga medel. Men vad innebär den här utvecklingen när vi skiftar perspektiv till de afrikanska ländernas egna upplevelser? Hur lyckas Ryssland vinna inflytande med relativt begränsade resurser jämfört med traditionellt bistånd? Och hur påverkas lokalbefolkningens tillit till demokrati, normer och institutioner av desinformation och ryska militära insatser? I augusti 1920 utkämpades slaget om Warszawa mellan en sovjetisk invasionsarmé och den polska armén under generalen Pilsudski. Utgångsläget för polackerna var inte bra. Försvaret runt den polska huvudstaden sviktade.I detta läge genomförde den polska armén en omfattade omgruppering och därefter en snabb motoffensiv. De sovjetiska arméerna krossades och ringades in 16-25 augusti 1920 i ett slag som har kallats ”undret vid Visla”. Den polska segern räddade den unga polska republiken och stoppade en eventuell sovjetiska fortsatt frammarsch mot Tyskland.I detta avsnitt av Militärhistoriepodden berättar Martin Hårdstedt och Peter Bennesved om ett måhända lite mindre känt krig. Som en direkt följd av första världskriget inleddes i Östeuropa ett antal militära konflikter frammanade av olika nationella strävanden. Polacker, balter, ukrainare, rumäner och så vidare försökte skapa egna nationer och vinna så stort territorium som möjligt. Samtidigt rasade inne i Ryssland ett inbördeskrig 1918-22.Polens ledare Pilsudski hade en vision om att skapa en federation av stater under polsk ledning som motsvarade det gamla Pols-Litauiska samväldet som slutade att existera 1795. Polska trupper kom under 1919 att ockupera stora områden i både dagens östra Ukraina – provinsen Galicien – och flytta gränsen mot Sovjet österut mot Minsk. Den sovjetiska motoffensiven i augusti 1920 tillintetgjorde dessa erövringar och det var först efter segern i slaget om Warszawa som den polsk-sovjetiska gränsen kunde stabiliseras i och med freden i Riga i mars 1921. Polen hade vi det laget även lagt sig till med de östra delarna av dagens Litauen i vilket Pilsudskis hemstad Vilnius ingick.För Lenin och bosjevikerna var nederlaget framför Warszawa en stor katastrof. Drömmarna om att tränga längre västerut och understödja en tysk kommunistisk revolution grusades. Unlike No-Limit Hold'em, PLO is an equity-driven game where hands run close together, making concepts like nuttiness, connectedness, suitedness, and high-pair power essential. Dylan explains how these four traits define strong PLO hands and why players must focus on building "robust equity"—hands that can improve across multiple streets and realistically make the nuts by the river. The episode emphasizes how position and stack depth shape strategy. Early position requires tight, smooth, and highly connected hands, while later positions allow for wider, more flexible ranges. Dylan also highlights common mistakes, including overvaluing weak hands, misplaying pocket Aces, and ignoring blockers and opponent ranges. A key takeaway is that many hands that look strong preflop perform poorly postflop if they lack nuttiness or backup equity. Postflop play is where most players struggle, and the biggest leak discussed is trying to "protect equity." In PLO, board textures change too frequently for that approach to work. Slaget vid Lund den 4 december år 1676, mellan en svensk armé ledd av Karl XI mot en danska armé under Kristian V, brukar räknas som det blodigaste slaget i Nordens historia. Dagen efter slaget utgjorde markerna norr i om Lund en makaber syn. Döda soldater och hästar överallt. Många av soldaterna plundrade på sina kläder.Utgången av slaget brukar av många uppfattas som stunden då skånelandskapen räddades åt den svenska kronan. Danskarnas nederlag innebar i förlängningen att kriget kunde avslutas.I detta avsnitt av Militärhistoriepodden tar Martin Hårdstedt och Peter Bennesved sig an en riktig klassiker i svensk militärhistoria – slaget vid Lund 1676.Sverige hade åren för slaget blivit indraget i krig på kontinenten som ett led i rikets allians med Frankrike. Kriget på kontinenten gick inte så bra för Sverige. I detta läge passade Danmark 1675 på att förklara Sverige krig. Målet var att återta de 1658 förlorade skånelandskapen. Läget var gynnsamt. På Sveriges tron satt den oprövade unge Karl XI. I maj 1676 krossades den svenska flottan vid Ölands södra udde. En landstigning i Skåne genomfördes den 29 juni 1676.Den danska armén ockuperade snabbt Skåne och endast Malmö var kvar i svenska händer. På den svenska sidan var läget ansträngt. Armén hade misskötts under Karl XI:s förmyndarregering.Man funderade på två alternativ. Antingen drogs den svenska armén tillbaka och gick i vinterkvarter längre norrut. Fördelen var att styrkorna kunde byggas upp och goda förberedelser för ett fälttåg våren 1677 kunde göras. Nackdelen var att hela Skåne sannolikt skulle falla i danskarnas händer. Det andra alternativet var att stanna kvar med den numerärt underlägsna svenska armén i Skåne och spärra vägen för danskarna till Malmö.Det blev det sista alternative som genomfördes. Danskarna hade gått i vinterkvarter norr om Lund och den svenska armén gick även den i kvarter för att spärra vägen mot Malmö. Ganska snart insåg den svenska ledningen att armén höll på att tyna bort i de usla kvarteren. Beslut om att våga ett slag mot danskarna togs de första dagarna i december. Den 4 december marscherade den svenska armén mot det danska lägret. Slaget vid Lund hade inletts.
