Imagine having a deep and difficult conversation with your loved ones which enables acceptance and forgiveness while freeing you all from shame, sadness, and dysfunction. Imagine what it would feel like to be the chain-breaker in your family. But what if you don't want to have that conversation? Or it isn't possible due to bereavement, estrangement, or adoption (or any other reason for that matter)? Family Constellation Therapy makes it possible to do the work regardless of the many reasons you might not want, or be able to broach difficult issues with your family. You don't even have to KNOW who your family is. In today's episode, I speak to Family Constellations Facilitator, Sound Therapist, Yoga and Pilates teacher, and talented singer/songwriter, Karis Bunney, who has been constellating me for the past 18-24 months. Constellating your family system can not only reveal the root cause of some of the issues and beliefs that burden you, but allow you to forgive and heal generational wounds, so you are liberated from the “disturbances” of the past, enabling yourself and future generations to continue on a pathway of growth. During this episode, Karis explains what happens during a Family Constellation session, how it works, how it can free you, and theorises on the magic that makes it all happen. We also candidly share our personal experiences and invite you to think about how this transformational, transgenerational therapy could benefit you and your future generations. Ask yourself: Have you been caught in a feedback loop, repeating past patterns with no idea WHY it is so deeply ingrained in your subconscious? Do you recognise unhealthy behaviours/ideas/beliefs you want to change but don't know where they are rooted? Are you conscious of repeating family patterns and desperate not to make the same mistakes your parents/relatives did? If you answered yes to any of the above, this episode is for you. This week we are rebroadcasting our interview with Nuskmata (Jacinda Mack) originally aired in February of 2020. From roller coaster rides at Disney World to museums dotting the Pacific Northwest, symbols of mining and the Gold Rush remain deeply enshrined in the collective imagination of the mythic West. Hidden beneath this cultural veneer, the material realities of today's superscale mining are often out of sight, out of mind. In this week's In The Field episode, we trace the historical contours and material legacy of the mining industry across so-called British Columbia, unearthing stories from a region that bears an estimated 1,100 abandoned mines, 150-year-old mining laws, and more mining exploration companies than anywhere else on Earth. Guided by the raw testimony of mother, water protector, and organizer Nuskmata (Jacinda Mack), this episode braids together the history of the Gold Rush and colonization in B.C., the state of salmon, the practice of free, prior, and informed consent, dirty mining for a “clean” energy revolution, and the urgent necessity of reform. Music by Cary Morin, Compassion Gorilla, Lynx and the Servants of Song, The Mynabirds, The Melawmen Collective, and The Honey Tongues. The radicalization of a congressional clerk in the 1800s and the introduction of the telegraph set a young country on a new trajectory. The Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol stands as a prevailing symbol of the country's present-day polarization. But while the brutality of that day sits in the minds of many Americans as unprecedented, Yale historian Joanne Freeman reminds us that violence within the Capitol has a long history. In The Field of Blood: Violence in Congress and the Road to Civil War, Joanne Freeman details the congressional brawls, threats, beatings, stabbings and gun play that emerged from the unsavory cocktail of slavery, regional and party politics, and dysfunctional codes of personal honor that permeated Washington in the decades leading up to the Civil War. The book, released four years ago, provides context to the congressional investigation of the attack and a fresh debate about the country's civic health

Aron Snyder is the President of Kifaru International, a household name and brand in the world of backcountry hunting. When I first heard of Aron, I was commuting to and from work an hour each way and spent a lot of that time learning as much as I could from his experiences via podcasting because at the time, I was beginning to get nice and cozy with the idea of backpack hunting. I needed as much information as possible and that's what I got along with a lot of entertainment.Aron has spent a lot of time in the field learning things that you can only learn IN THE FIELD. He's succeeded, failed, and succeeded again and, as you'll hear in this episode, it's the getting the reps in that count. Nothing is a substitute for miles and time in the backcountry because that's what ACTUALLY teaches you what you need to learn. Once that experience is gained, you'll look back and see that those spreadsheets you made detailing every single nut and bolt you carried with you are actually not so useful after all. You'll no longer care about how much an item weighs because you'll already know that information and you'll know HOW that item fits into your kit and WHY it's there in the first place.Backpacking will become second nature at some point and that's when the doors begin to open for you. This episode with Aron Snyder is littered with incredible insight from a guy who designs packs for a living, runs a backcountry hunting company, and has put a countless amount of hours in the field doing the hard work. When he speaks, listen closely and take he says and apply it to your own backcountry efforts. From getting to know where Aron came from and how he came to work for Kifaru to what ACTUALLY matters out there, it's all in this episode and you'll no doubt come away with some great nuggets of wisdom.By Land,Emory R. Dr. Kristin Weiss and Buttercup the Oceanpup. Dr. Kristen Weiss is currently Communications Coordinator for the Long Term Ecological Research network. Previously, she was an early career fellow in Science Communication at the Center for Ocean Solutions, Stanford University, and before that a lecturer in the Environmental Studies Program at the University of Southern California where she taught courses focused on ecology, sustainability, and natural resource management. Kristen received her PhD from James Cook University in Queensland, Australia, where she studied marine governance using policy network analysis. Her goal is to continue communicating about significant environmental issues and contribute to better conservation and management strategies to protect our threatened ecosystems. In her free time she enjoys adventures with her tiny dog Buttercup–on her stand-up paddle board, at the beach, or in the forest. And taking naps. Kristen and I met at a 2 week fellowship sponsored by the Center for Ocean solutions six years ago, she had just recently adopted Buttercup a tiny yellow chihuahua that steals your heart away. When I first met the duo, it was like they had been together forever, the little dog looked like she woke up in Kristens arms… I am excited to dive into the platforms Kristen created with Buttercup to get her dog involved for creating a better world, and much more!
