EP152 Chiron Work: Family Constellations & Healing Transgenerational Trauma with Karis Bunney

The Stellium Astrology Podcast

Imagine having a deep and difficult conversation with your loved ones which enables acceptance and forgiveness while freeing you all from shame, sadness, and dysfunction. Imagine what it would feel like to be the chain-breaker in your family. But what if you don't want to have that conversation? Or it isn't possible due to bereavement, estrangement, or adoption (or any other reason for that matter)? Family Constellation Therapy makes it possible to do the work regardless of the many reasons you might not want, or be able to broach difficult issues with your family. You don't even have to KNOW who your family is. In today's episode, I speak to Family Constellations Facilitator, Sound Therapist, Yoga and Pilates teacher, and talented singer/songwriter, Karis Bunney, who has been constellating me for the past 18-24 months. Constellating your family system can not only reveal the root cause of some of the issues and beliefs that burden you, but allow you to forgive and heal generational wounds, so you are liberated from the “disturbances” of the past, enabling yourself and future generations to continue on a pathway of growth. During this episode, Karis explains what happens during a Family Constellation session, how it works, how it can free you, and theorises on the magic that makes it all happen. We also candidly share our personal experiences and invite you to think about how this transformational, transgenerational therapy could benefit you and your future generations. Ask yourself: Have you been caught in a feedback loop, repeating past patterns with no idea WHY it is so deeply ingrained in your subconscious? Do you recognise unhealthy behaviours/ideas/beliefs you want to change but don't know where they are rooted? Are you conscious of repeating family patterns and desperate not to make the same mistakes your parents/relatives did? If you answered yes to any of the above, this episode is for you. This week we are rebroadcasting our interview with Nuskmata (Jacinda Mack) originally aired in February of 2020. From roller coaster rides at Disney World to museums dotting the Pacific Northwest, symbols of mining and the Gold Rush remain deeply enshrined in the collective imagination of the mythic West. Hidden beneath this cultural veneer, the material realities of today's superscale mining are often out of sight, out of mind. In this week's In The Field episode, we trace the historical contours and material legacy of the mining industry across so-called British Columbia, unearthing stories from a region that bears an estimated 1,100 abandoned mines, 150-year-old mining laws, and more mining exploration companies than anywhere else on Earth. Guided by the raw testimony of mother, water protector, and organizer Nuskmata (Jacinda Mack), this episode braids together the history of the Gold Rush and colonization in B.C., the state of salmon, the practice of free, prior, and informed consent, dirty mining for a “clean” energy revolution, and the urgent necessity of reform. Music by Cary Morin, Compassion Gorilla, Lynx and the Servants of Song, The Mynabirds, The Melawmen Collective, and The Honey Tongues. The radicalization of a congressional clerk in the 1800s and the introduction of the telegraph set a young country on a new trajectory. The Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol stands as a prevailing symbol of the country's present-day polarization. But while the brutality of that day sits in the minds of many Americans as unprecedented, Yale historian Joanne Freeman reminds us that violence within the Capitol has a long history. In The Field of Blood: Violence in Congress and the Road to Civil War, Joanne Freeman details the congressional brawls, threats, beatings, stabbings and gun play that emerged from the unsavory cocktail of slavery, regional and party politics, and dysfunctional codes of personal honor that permeated Washington in the decades leading up to the Civil War. The book, released four years ago, provides context to the congressional investigation of the attack and a fresh debate about the country's civic health

Aron Snyder is the President of Kifaru International, a household name and brand in the world of backcountry hunting. When I first heard of Aron, I was commuting to and from work an hour each way and spent a lot of that time learning as much as I could from his experiences via podcasting because at the time, I was beginning to get nice and cozy with the idea of backpack hunting. I needed as much information as possible and that's what I got along with a lot of entertainment.Aron has spent a lot of time in the field learning things that you can only learn IN THE FIELD. He's succeeded, failed, and succeeded again and, as you'll hear in this episode, it's the getting the reps in that count. Nothing is a substitute for miles and time in the backcountry because that's what ACTUALLY teaches you what you need to learn. Once that experience is gained, you'll look back and see that those spreadsheets you made detailing every single nut and bolt you carried with you are actually not so useful after all. You'll no longer care about how much an item weighs because you'll already know that information and you'll know HOW that item fits into your kit and WHY it's there in the first place.Backpacking will become second nature at some point and that's when the doors begin to open for you. This episode with Aron Snyder is littered with incredible insight from a guy who designs packs for a living, runs a backcountry hunting company, and has put a countless amount of hours in the field doing the hard work. When he speaks, listen closely and take he says and apply it to your own backcountry efforts. From getting to know where Aron came from and how he came to work for Kifaru to what ACTUALLY matters out there, it's all in this episode and you'll no doubt come away with some great nuggets of wisdom.By Land,Emory R. She has over 15 years of experience with marine mammal entanglements, specializing in entangled whale response. She’s been on several large whale entanglement cases and trained many volunteers on how disentangle a whale. Kathi and I have been friends for several years now. We met when she first started the California Whale Rescue a non-profit dedicated to serving the community of volunteers who help to untangle entangled whales. Through working together, we came up with a budget and scope to help volunteers, through my efforts during my Sea Grant Fellowship I was able to secure their first major funds that would get the nonprofit off the ground. Since then with Kathi’s leadership she has partnered with one of the biggest marine mammal rescues in California and is leading other amazing projects related to her new role, which I can’t wait to learn more about in this discussion today. Well, this episode was long in coming out. Sorry for the delay. I have to admit, I've been pretty focused on the news about the coronavirus, and that slowed down the process a bit, but I'm back on track now. This project may sound a little be choppier than normal because it is the first one I've done mostly by myself, with some assistance from my wonderful producer Chris Duckman. My goal has been doing this on my own without having to pester him too much, so I am on my way.To start things off, I talk a little bit about grief and how we experience grief as a part of getting a lipedema diagnosis - and that is okay. It is totally normal. We just need to recognize it and not let it get to us too much -  and figure out what we can do to deal with it as time goes on. It will get better, even if it's a bumpy road to peace of mind. Then I talk about how I've adapted to being mostly homebound in the last couple of years and what I am doing to try to make things  continue to improve. It is definitely a challenge in the best of times, but even for someone who doesn't leave home very often, coronavirus days have been a challenge. Then the episode wraps up with another visit with Pattie Cornute where she talks about how she is adapting to working out at home now that she can't visit the gym or pool for a while. She's got some great ideas on how you can adapt your workout - or maybe (like me) start working out at home.I hope you enjoy it.Links from this episode:Lymphatic Yoga with Edely Wallace https://lymphaticyoga.net/Lipedema Fitness Blog: http://www.lipedemafitness.com/Dr. Melissa Gallagher's alternate rebounding video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCCMSdNnJKoIntro Music "Walk in the Park," Bumper Music "Folk Bed," and closing music, "In The Field" all courtesy of Jason Shaw at Audionautix - https://audionautix.com/index.php

From roller coaster rides at Disney World to museums dotting the Pacific Northwest, symbols of mining and the Gold Rush remain deeply enshrined in the collective imagination of the mythic West. Hidden beneath this cultural veneer, the material realities of today’s superscale mining are often out of sight, out of mind. In this week’s In The Field episode, we trace the historical contours and material legacy of the mining industry across so-called British Columbia, unearthing stories from a region that bears an estimated 1,100 abandoned mines, 150-year-old mining laws, and more mining exploration companies than anywhere else on Earth. Music by Cary Morin, Compassion Gorilla, Lynx and the Servants of Song, The Mynabirds, Melawmen Collective and The Honey Tongues. In this week's instalment of IN THE FIELD, we look at the continuing war in Ukraine, where rebels aligned with Moscow control swathes of the east of the country near the Russian border. Despite dropping out of the headlines in 2016, the guns never fell silent in eastern Ukraine: every night, the Ukrainian army and rebels trade shells and machine gun fire. Inna Shevchenko, the founder of Femen, talks about the impact of the election of Donald Trump, who is seen as close to Russian President Vladimir Putin and could potentially recognise Russia's annexation of Crimea. Journalist Christian Borys also discusses the difficulties with keeping the world – ie. foreign editors – interested in a conflict that has grown increasingly entrenched and complex over the past 24 months. In this week's instalment of IN THE FIELD, we look at the reasons for the love affair between Egyptian leader General Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Donald Trump, particularly in light of the 'Muslim ban' – touted by the new US president-elect during his campaign – that would effect tens of thousands of Egyptians. Farid Farid, a stringer based in Cairo, speculates that Trump's popularity not just with Sisi but on the Egyptian street is due to the similarities between their strongman political style. We also speak to Nehal ElSherif, an Egyptian journalist who has reported from Cairo since 2011. She discusses perceptions of the media in Egypt and how it has changed in the years since the revolution. IN THE FIELD is produced by Orlando Crowcroft and Alfred Joyner and edited by Sho Murakoshi. As Iraqi forces, Kurdish fighters and Shia militias close in on the Islamic State (Isis) stronghold of Mosul, civilians fleeing the city have told of the increasingly desperate tactics used by the jihadi army to hold their ground as coalition air strikes and artillery rain down on the outskirts. In the first instalment of IBTimesUK's podcast - IN THE FIELD - we speak to journalist Campbell MacDiarmid, who has reported on the conflict since it began. Drawing on his experience on the front lines over the past three weeks, he describes the difficulties the Iraqi coalition faces in its campaign to rid Iraq of IS after two-and-a-half years of their bloody occupation of Mosul. In our second interview, we speak to Razaw Salihy, Iraq campaigner for Amnesty International, about the human toll of the conflict. Salihy has been visiting refugee camps just outside Mosul and hearing stories of life under IS-rule as well as the dangerous conditions for civilians. Both Campbell and Razaw also discuss the difficulties... See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
