Lotta Lotass litteratur är en egen motståndsrörelse mot berättelsens hegemoni. Maria Edström läser en författare som upprättar ett äldre språk för att skapa ett nytt. ESSÄ: Detta är en text där skribenten reflekterar över ett ämne eller ett verk. Åsikter som uttrycks är skribentens egna. Ursprungligen publicerad i en längre version 2014.Övertron på berättelsen är ingenting nytt, såväl politiker som journalister och allsköns experter har i flera år låtit som pr-byråer. Minsta kafé eller hamburgerbar ska ju ha en berättelse som om vi liksom inte begriper någonting om det inte förpackas som i en saga, som ginge vi alla under utan en bärande myt om vad vi ska konsumera, rösta på, tro på. Problemet med dessa "berättelser" är naturligtvis förenklingarna, felaktigheterna och riskerna för ren demagogi. Ju enklare berättelser ju slagkraftigare och det kanske är ett mindre problem om det gäller var vi ska dricka vårt kaffe men definitivt ett större om det handlar om hur vi ska förstå världen.Vad har nu det här med författaren Lotta Lotass författarskap att göra frågar sig vän av ordning? Jo, även inom litteraturen där man ju i och för sig kan tycka att berättelsen har en given plats, så har den även här lyfts fram som ett eftersträvansvärt föredöme och då talar vi om den lättillgängliga, begripliga, episka, händelsedrivna berättelsen. Och det är någonting som skaver runt allt detta ”berättardriv”, där en svårtydd, mångfacetterad och motsägelsefull värld till varje pris måste göras enkel, lätt att tyda och lätt att tillägna sig. Och där kan ett författarskap som Lotta Lotass komma in som en motrörelse med ett helt annat sätt att utöva och att se på litteraturen och dess uppgift.Lotass gav 2007 ut första delen i en trilogi ”Den vita jorden” i en lite ovanlig form, 148 tunna häften i en vit liten papplåda att läsas i valfri ordning. Innan dess hade hon sen debuten 2000 med romanen ”Kallkällan” alltmer kommit att experimenterat med form och distribution och skulle så fortsätta. Nästa bok efter debuten var som en del i ett uppslagsverk ”Band II Från Gabbro till Löväng”, sen följde en förstautgåva i pocket, romaner bestående av en enda lång mening, labyrintiska texter med rumsbeskrivningar, dikter enkom på nätet publicerade tillsammans med bilder av amerikanska redwood-träd, amerikanska sinnessjukhus, cirkuselefanter och en enda lång dikt på en filmad telexremsa.Lotass har skrivit poesi, dramatik och prosa – det har handlat om fattighjon på hemmet, de sovjetiska kosmonauterna, amerikanska seriemördare, bibliska ökenvandringar, första världskrigets skyttegravar, arktiska utfärder. Ofta i en värld som känns som ett parallellt universum eller i en skapad värld, ett slags scenografi, en fantasi i ett grumligt sinne eller som i en av hennes mest ifrågasatta böcker ”Den svarta solen” som kändes som att läsa ett märkligt dataspel, en labyrintisk rumsbeskrivning i 342 numrerade stycken där man ständigt skulle välja väg efter varje och riskerade att bli ”fast” i spelet/texten för evigt. Lotass trilogi om kriget, dess historieskrivning, minnen, krönikor påbörjades 2010 med ”Sparta” och efter ”Mars” avslutades den med ”Örnen”. Små nätta volymer, en vit, en grå och en brun. Alla utgivna i blott 300 exemplar – ungefär så stor som min läsekrets är, har Lotass förklarat och även detta har nog retat upp i ett kulturklimat där masseffekt alltid verkar vilja uppnås.I den första ”Sparta” befinner vi oss i ett slags antikens krigarstat eller är vi i minnet av den?”Stensoldater. Stensoldater. Vi är väntan. Vi är tystnad. Vi är tyngd och stillhet. Vi är ordhållighet, visshet, återstod.” Så blir dessa stensoldater till alla soldater som levt, dött, blivit till historia, till sten. Och så finns W – gamle ”double-w” – kommentator och spelledare, en som raserar gamla världar och bygger nya ”Snart skall inget återstå.” och han fortsätter ”Allt kan brukas till att bygga världen.”I den andra ”Mars” är legionen på marsch i ett landskap likt den röda planeten i titelns dubbelexponering med romerske krigarguden Mars. Den gamla myten om ansikten och spår av liv och kulturer i sten och berg, av forntida hav, kanaler, monument, stenstäder på den främmande planeten handlar också om vår planet och dess lager av tider, förstörelse och glömska.Lotass är på inga vis en modern språkförstörare, tvärtom skulle jag vilja kalla henne för ett slags språkupprättare, i den meningen att hon återupprättar ett gammalt språk, ett ibland närmast bibliskt språk, ett språk där verktyg, fågelarter, adjektiv som skillrande, glanskande, ting som flitter, flisor och flarn, uppräkningar av saker som till slut låter som musik. Lotass språkradikalism ligger kanske snarare i att just undvika alla de ord och uttryck som vår samtid klär sig i. Däremot är hon i allra högsta grad en berättelseförstörare, problematiserar hela idén om en berättelse, frågar sig hela tiden – om vad berättas det, vem berättar, när berättas vad det nu är som berättas?Det finns alltid denna osäkerhet hos Lotass och däri ligger hennes ständiga obstruktion mot en den tidstypiska och tillrättalagda berättelsens idé. Däremot avisar Lotass inte alls ett slags samtidsavkänning – vem är väl den gamle W med alla sina krig, med sitt skapande av nya världar?I den sista delen ”Örnen” så är vi som från början i en artefakt, ett teatralt minnesrum – ”Invid horisonten reser sig bergskedjor av söndermalt papper som blandats med mjöl och vatten. Ståltrådstommen skymtar i enstaka klev, skrevor och rämnor. Stift och klamrar döljs nogsamt av bergssidornas patinering”. Våra hågkomster är alltid en konstruktion, en reproduktion tycks Lotass mena – ”Ridån går upp. Spelet kan börja.” så slutar första kapitlet. Och ”Örnen” den emblematiska titeln där örnen som symbol går igen i de många av världens stora riken; det romerska, det amerikanska, det nazistiska, och där jag möjligtvis tror att bokvolymens bruna färg faktiskt betyder något.Och kanske är alltihop ett barn som leker med sina tennsoldater – ”Mor, var är du?” utropas på en sida och ingen enskild tolkning göras till den bestämmande. ”Örnen” blir också med sin flerskiktiga teknik en på sitt sätt skrämmande förevisning i hur det förflutnas reminiscenser återskapas, ges ny dräkt, inte känns igen utan tolkas som nya.Lotta Lotass är en av våra mest uppfordrande författare, ett slags civilisationskritiker som vår tid inte riktigt verkar ha förmåga att ta till sig annat än i mindre kluster. 89 • Tro inte på allt du ser - lär dig att kritiskt granska bilder och video   Bilder och video som sanningssägare är inte helt enkelt. För samtidigt som vi kan se och förstå saker när man ser de på bild och video så finns det ju många olika sätt att manipulera dem.    Att förändra, förvränga, lägga till eller ta bort information är lätt gjort om du har rätt verktyg En bild eller en video visar bara just det som fotografen väljer att ta med i bild. Hur det ser ut vid sidan om eller bakom visar inte bilden. Bilden behöver inte nödvändigtvis visa det som hävdas. Ursprunget kan vara något helt annat.    Saker du kan undersöka själv: Kontrollera bilden / videon med hjälp av verktyg som tex Google Lens, Tineye, InVid Att titta efter landmärken. Verkar det misstänkt, stäm av mot Google Earth eller Wikimapia.  Titta på videon i slowmotion. Det är lättare att upptäcka manipulationer i en video i slowmotion än i full hastighet.  Solen och skuggorna - stämmer de?  Titta på metadata om videon  Ställ dig alltid frågan Vem säger vad och varför?   Vem kommer informationen ifrån?  Vem tjänar på att sprida det här som berättas?  Hur vill den som berättar att jag ska reagera?     Får samma info någon annanstans ifrån. Från något annat håll…   Mycket av källkritik handlar om att öva upp sitt kritiska tänkande och att vara medveten om att all information har en avsändare som på något sätt har ett synfte. Vad är det syftet? Si une image vaut mille mots, encore faut-il qu'elle soit authentique, et Linh-Lan Dao, des Révélateurs, prend cette thématique à cœur. L'invitée : Entrée en 2008 au service Société et Culture de France 2 à l'occasion de la bourse France Télévisions favorisant les personnes issues de la diversité, Linh-Lan Dao se considère comme une enfant du service public. Avec Vrai ou Fake, chez France Info et depuis 2016, elle découvre l'importance du fact-checking tout en contribuant à son rayonnement. Leurs missions ? Enquête visuelle, reconstitution d'événements et établissement de faits grâce aux images open source. # Les fake news fleurissent dans des milieux en marge du système, pleins de défiance envers les institutions : complotistes, individus méfiants envers le gouvernement, doutant des journalistes… # Véritables caisses de résonance, les plateformes comme Facebook, YouTube et Twitter sont souvent mises en cause. Si ces réseaux sociaux préfèrent parfois botter en touche et profiter de l'attrait du public pour les contenus sensationnels, certains d'entre eux développent des solutions à la propagation de fake news. # Par ailleurs, des cellules de fact-checking similaires aux Révélateurs émergent en Europe. Elles s'inspirent de grandes institutions comme le New York Times ou le Washington Post, qui proposent, outre-Atlantique, des modes d'investigation innovants. Hors du champ journalistique, des outils comme InVID ou PimEyes aident les enquêtes. # Le fact-checking en deux disciplines : l'Imagery Intelligence (IMINT), ou renseignement d'origine image, et l'Open Source Intelligence (OSINT), renseignement d'origine source ouverte. Épisode 148 : La lutte contre les fake news est devenue un des grands axes de travail des géants du web comme Facebook ou Google. Nous vous présentons dans cet épisode ce qui peut révolutionner ces fakes news : le Deepfake ! ##Le DeepFake : les vidéos trafiquées## DeepFake, ou permutation intelligente de visages, est une technique de synthèse d'image basée sur l'intelligence artificielle. Elle est principalement utilisée pour combiner et superposer des images et des vidéos existantes sur d'autres images et/ou vidéos. ##Au départ le buzz part de Reddit## La première fois que l’on a entendu parlé de DeepFakes c’est sur Reddit. Avec notamment au coeur des discussions une application gratuite, simple d'utilisation baptisée «FakeApp». Il s'agit d'un soft qui en utilisant du machine learning, est capable de décomposer frame par frame une vidéo, pour remplacer le visage de quelqu'un par quelqu'un d'autre. Mais attention, il ne s'agit pas d'un simple trucage cinématographique… non, non. En nourrissant l'algorithme de nombreuses photos, celui-ci est capable de reconstituer un visage dans ses moindres détails et de le faire parfaitement correspondre à un autre, en reconstituant, y compris, les parties qu'il ne connaît pas. Et comme bien souvent sur Reddit on en parle avec un angle forcément Trash. L'utilisation première de Deepfakes a donc été de remplacer le visage d'acteurs ou d'actrices pornos par celui de célébrités. Plusieurs internautes s'en sont ainsi servis pour créer des vidéos à caractère pornographique en y incrustant les visages de célébrités comme ceux de Jessica Alba ou Scarlett Johansson. Étude c’est à ce moment que le buzz deepfakes est devenu un sujet grand public. —— ##Quand Barrack Obama insulte Trump en vidéo## Au-delà des différentes polémiques liées aux contenus pornographiques, la technologie «deep fake» peut aussi être utilisée pour désinformer.  Pour dénoncer ces potentiels dangers, le média BuzzFeed avait fait beaucoup de bruit en avril dernier en partageant une vidéo de Barack Obama traitant Donald Trump «d'idiot total et absolu». À l'aide d'une intelligence artificielle spécialisée, le cinéaste Jordan Peele, avait été capable de créer un faux Barack Obama capable de dire ce qu'on lui demande de dire. Impressionnant ! —— ##Plusieurs technologies de pointe qui émerge au même moment## Le Facial Reenactment La capacité de reproduire à l'identique des expressions faciales.  Le motion transfer Des chercheurs de l'université de Berkeley ont aussi récemment partagé le fruit de leurs travaux sur le «motion transfer». Une technologie permettant de dupliquer les mouvements d'un corps sur un autre. Lyrebird L'application Lyrebird développe par exemple son propre outil de clonage des voix. En avril 2018, Lyrebird annonçait avoir développé une technologie d’intelligence artificielle capable d’imiter n’importe quelle voix en se basant sur un enregistrement d’« une minute seulement » Face to Face Des chercheurs Allemands ont déjà créé le « Face to Face » qui permet le Deepfake sur une vidéo en direct ! Heureusement pour le moment cette technique n’est pas disponible au public ! Nvidia Des chercheurs de l'entreprise Nvidia, à la base spécialisée dans la puissance de calcul, ont construit leur propre outil de fabrication de «deep fake». Ils sont capables de mettre en concurrence deux algorithmes pour obtenir la meilleure imitation possible. L'un étant chargé de copier le style d'une vidéo en y ajoutant un visage tandis que l'autre juge si cette copie est crédible et si la réponse est non, tente de l'améliorer.  —— ##Le Deep Fake l’arme absolu de la désinformation qui fait peur aux institutions## Grâce à l'ensemble de ces outils, le risque que la production de vidéos «deep fake» ne devienne une véritable industrie est réel.  En septembre 2018, 3 élus américains ont décidé de s'emparer de ce sujet à l'approche des élections de mi-mandat aux États-Unis. Ils ont voulu inscrire le «deep fake» sur la liste des menaces contre «la sécurité nationale». En France, le problème est aussi devenu un objet d'inquiétude.  Un rapport de l’IRSEM intitulé « Les manipulations de l’information : Un défi pour nos démocraties » souligne le fait que ces vidéos «deep fake» pouvaient participer dans les prochaines années à une «atomisation extrême de l'information, avec la disparition ou la fragilisation des acteurs pouvant servir de tiers de confiance». —— ##Quelles armes contre d’éventuelles tentatives de manipulation## Pour tenter de lutter contre ces manipulations d'un nouveau genre, plusieurs institutions ont décidé de mettre en place leur propre outil de vérification. Aux USA Aux États-Unis, l'agence de recherche américaine de défense liée au Pentagone, la DARPA, a financé à hauteur de 68 millions de dollars des projets technologiques luttant contre les «deep fake». InVid un projet européen Les médias font aussi partie de ce combat. L'AFP est par exemple partenaire du projet européen InVid (pour In Video Veritas). Destiné aux journalistes, ce plug-in qui peut être téléchargé sur n'importe quel navigateur internet est censé les aider à repérer les vidéos truquées. Il permet notamment de savoir si une vidéo a été manipulée techniquement avant d'être mise en ligne. Facebook et Google Facebook et Google ont déjà annoncé qu’ils développaient leurs propres logiciels de détection. France En France des chercheurs travaillent sur un logiciel qui pourraient détecter aussi les Deepfake ! Le plus gros problème pour ces logiciels de détection est de suivre l’amélioration permanente de cette technique du deepfake. ##L'Éducation## Notre conseil, c'est de surtout garder un esprit critique envers les vidéos et les infos que nous trouvons de manière générale et en particulier sur les réseaux sociaux. Il faut essayer de toujours faire l'effort de recouper les informations que l'on trouve avec plusieurs sources afin de pouvoir en être sûr ! . . .
