Jade Jackson and Aubrie Sellers make up the duo Jackson+Sellers, and they are Maggie's guests on this episode. Jade and Aubrie share stories about the making of their debut album, Breaking Point, and how they found their unexpected musical kinship after back-to-back sets at Americanafest. The duo discusses balancing their creative work with the pressures of the industry, recognizing when to step away from chaos, and the importance of having your voice heard.Jackson+Sellers first crossed paths through back-to-back gigs at Americanafest in Nashville in 2019, a fleeting moment that eventually led to a deep friendship and a true recognition of kindred spirits. During the pandemic, they aligned for an inspiring creative partnership that has yielded one of the most compelling collaborative albums of the last decade. Breaking Point, their exceptional debut on ANTI- Records, establishes Jackson+Sellers as women who share an intuitive musical kinship and a rare ability to craft tight singular pop-rock tracks without losing sight of their songwriting selves. By shedding the identities pre-assigned to them by the music industry, Jackson+Sellers have fashioned an album reflective of their expansive musical interests, from ‘70s rock to indie pop to West Coast country.Salute the Songbird is brought to you by Osiris Media. Hosted by Maggie Rose. Produced by Austin Marshall, Maggie Rose, and Kirsten Cluthe with production assistance from Grace Roemer and Kip Baggett. Edited by Justin Thomas of Revoice Media. Jade Jackson and Aubrie Sellers join Nick to discuss having put their solo careers aside to collaborate as a duo and their new record Breaking Point. Bringing together their backgrounds steeped in music, this record mixes up a California 70's meets Nashville Americana vibe. Jade and Aubrie join me to chat about their influences such as Emmylou Harris and Bruce Springsteen, transitioning from solo artists to a duo, solitary songwriting and overcoming being introverted in order to perform to an audience. Thanks for listening! Tune in next week and don't forget to take a minute to review the podcast. In this incredibly competitive podcasting world, every piece of feedback helps. Episode 192: Nashville-raised songwriter Aubrey Sellers returns to The String as half of the new duo Jackson & Sellers. She and Jade Jackson became Instagram friends after the 2019 AmericanaFest where they realized they liked each other's music. Then a co-writing date sparked a close friendship and a hot duo that's attracted a ton of attention and praise. Their self-titled album has country in its bones, but it rocks hard and takes advantage of the dazzling guitars of Ethan Ballinger.
It sounds like a cliché, but sometimes when you expect the unexpected, you might just get exactly what you need. That's what happened to then-California-based singer/songwriters Jade Jackson and Aubrie Sellers after a chance meeting in 2019. Jackson and Sellers, both accomplished artists on different ends of the country-rock spectrum, began working together on one of Jade's songs Hush during the start of the pandemic. One thing led to another, and both relocated to Nashville to record the compelling new album Breaking Point, released in October 2021. Breaking Point is a revelation, with both artists pushing themselves into an earthy, atmospheric album driven by loud, crunchy guitars and tight hooks all around. In this interview, Jackson and Sellers provide no explanation for how and why their voices blend so well together. Nor can they explain how their unlikely pairing has turned into a deep friendship and dramatic artistic statement. Join me as Jade and Aubrie walk us through four songs from Breaking Point—Devil is an Angel, Waste Your Time, Hush, and Fair Weather. We also discuss the fickle nature of the industry and how hard it is to make a living as an artist.
Jade Jackson and Aubrie Sellers are individually awesome. Together, they are spectacular as Jackson+Sellers. They talk to Brad about their new album Breaking Point.

Film maker Jade Jackson was thirty when she first learned of the Dawn Raids. For the Samoan - Palangi woman, it was confusing and upsetting to never have learned about such a significant and traumatic part of her community's history. But that motivated her to take action, and the recent film school graduate had the perfect outlet. She's now released the short film, Raids, which took her back to her home town of Porirua and into a moment in history that left deep scars on the psyche of her community.

Krystal Robbins (VP of Radio Promotion for ANTI-/Epitaph Records) might just take the cake for the most coolest artists mentioned per capita so far on RFUS! We actually recorded this in late 2020, but the podcast guest booking agent (aka me) took a few months off in 2021. Now we're back into a new season in August of 2021! In her years at ANTI- alone, Krystal has worked with everyone from Neko Case to Mavis Staples, from M. Ward to Mike Ness & Social Distortion to Michael Franti & Spearhead. Krystal has worked on behalf of legends like Tom Waits and Joe Strummer as well as newer acts like Jade Jackson, Son Little and The Antlers, to get airplay on some of the best radio stations in the country from KROQ in L.A. to WFUV in NYC. We shared stories of those gone too soon (like Cobain & Cornell & WFUV's own Rita Houston), the surprise equinox release of Fleet Foxes' latest amazing album, and (on a lighter note) RBF syndrome, dating back to Epitaph's heyday of Bad Religion, Pennywise, Guttermouth and so many more and an intern named Frances Bean Cobain.

Mike Ness and Ben Nichols both front bands that blur the already-blurry genre lines between punk, Americana, country, and more—so it's no surprise that the two get along. Nichols' band, Lucero, opened for Ness' band, Social Distortion, on a tour about a decade ago, and the two hit it off. Since then, Lucero returned the favor by taking out Jade Jackson's band—which features Ness' son Julian on guitar. The occasion for this Talkhouse conversation is the release of Lucero's newest album, When You Found Me. The two songwriters talk about their craft, their kids, and how to write a song that makes a statement without getting political. —Josh Modell, Executive Editor This episode was produced by Kevin O’Connell. The Talkhouse Podcast theme was composed and performed by The Range.
This episode features Jovita Moore, Jade Jackson and Erica Simon; three Black Women in Broadcasting. These fascinating journalists share their stories on navigating life in newsrooms while providing a much needed voice.
Take the path you've dreamt of going on. Jade Jackson, a model, and vegan beauty influencer had some amazing insight on her journey to become the woman she wanted to be. She shared all the hardships and challenges she faced as she grew into the success she is today. The fierce and talented woman she is enunciates in this episode. Like Robert Frost said in his famous poem The Road Not Taken, "I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference." Make a difference now in making your own path, and when you do, you'll become unapologetically you. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/unapologeticallyme/support
What keeps you grounded through tough times? For journalist Jade Jackson, founder of The Main Source Media, focusing on Christ has given her strength in her darkest days. A young ambitious journalist, Jade held down several internships in college & landed her first TV job in her home state just months after graduation. She was on top of the world, everything was going great... until it wasn’t. Jade was let go from her reporter job after only a few months, her boss told her she “wasn’t the right fit”. Things went downhill from there, Jade felt like she lost everything, friends, her job, her relationship. Just when she was about to give up on journalism, a call from a top market, then a call and a flight out to New York City to interview for a program with a national network. Through that tough period in her life she created The Main Source Media, a platform connecting Christian storytellers through their love for Christ, prayer, and daily spiritual encouragement.
Jade Jackson wafts into The Marinade! Jade is a singer and songwriter from California whose outstanding 2019 release Wilderness was produced by the legendary Mike Ness of Social Distortion. We caught up with Jade ahead of her show with Lucero at The Social in Orlando, FL earlier this year. You can find all things Jade at jadejackson.com.
Hello, it’s time for another episode, so let’s jump right in. DP connects with media journalist Jade Jackson. Her journey started at the age of 9 when the school librarian, selected her to do morning announcements, an honor normally reserved for the sixth-grade students. She was hailed by students and teachers as being funny and entertaining. She didn’t like the news however and like most children, her age pondered why her family chose to watch them instead of morning cartoons. It would take the CNN document, Black In America, to make her take interest with the idea of telling stories. During her high school years, she was a member of the yearbook, newspaper and television committees which launched her into the world of broadcasting. She attended Jarvis Christian College, founded by her Great-grandfather, and has made a promise to establish a journalism degree program there. Her drive to allow others the same opportunity given to her speaks to the passion she has for her art. I recently had a chance to chat with singer/songwriter Jade Jackson. Jade is releasing her second album this summer and touring in support of if it. Both of her albums were produced by Social Distortion frontman Mike Ness, and both showcase her incredible voice and writing skills. Her songs draw on influences like Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Bruce Springsteen, and Mazzy Star. She has been making waves the last few years with her live performances, and albums. Her blending of thoughtful lyrics, guitar tones, and roots music fuse into a truly unique style that she can call her own. Enjoy this interview, and make sure to check out her music, and live performances. You won't be disappointed.

You know Bruce, I really can’t say I have one thing that makes me absolutely passionate about it. There are so many things. The one thing is, I do a lot of hunting alone, and I can get out there and get in my tree stand, buckle myself in and, you know, I can watch the squirrels play and get over the top of my head and drop acorns and I’m happy. Or I can watch the little birds flutter around on a limb and play with their friends and I’m happy. It’s just, it’s alone time for me and I always, you know, there’s, I always let deer walk that you know that are small, that are not of age. Bucks that are not three and four years old. You know, if they’re one two and three, I probably let them walk and go until they’re four and five years old. You know because I don’t want to cull my herd and let the young one’s get bigger. The thing is, it’s getting closer to nature. It’s getting me time. It’s getting time to enjoy what God has put on this earth to give us to enjoy.
