Dalton identifies the top-three positions of need for the Louisville Cardinals in the transfer portal following the spring game:-Wide receiver: depth needed behind Caullin Lacy, Ja'Corey Brooks & Chris Bell-Linebacker: Jaylin Alderman entered the portal last week-Defensive line: injuries & Jermayne Lole entered the portal last week
Locked On Sun Devils - Daily Podcast On Arizona State Sun Devils Football & Basketball
The NCAA Transfer Portal has opened up for the spring session and there have been some massive names to enter including some former five-star recruits and college football darlings. As one should, Arizona State Sun Devils football must monitor the additions and see if any peak their interest. With some recent injuries to the team, it wouldn't be the worst thing to target a few guys to add to the team and perhaps even find some cornerstone players for the program. Naturally, the Sun Devils will be drawn to the biggest name on the market, for five-star recruit and Colorado cornerback Cormani McClain, but there is an equally intriguing player to look at in former Arizona corner Tacario Davis, who could maybe be convinced by former teammate Jacob Kongaika to come play for the good guys. Speaking of Kongaika, the defensive line needs some more depth after losing Anthonie Cooper to a torn ACL. There are several big names to add from USC's Bear Alexander to TCU's Damonic Williams, but a familiar face in Jermayne Lole, most recently with Louisville, would also make fans happy. Host Richie Bradshaw talks about these guys and why they make a wishlist for Arizona State Sun Devils football to add via the NCAA Transfer Portal on this edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!Monopoly GO!Get in the game and join your friends. Locked On Sun Devils - Daily Podcast On Arizona State Sun Devils Football & Basketball
Injuries may be a "part of the game," but it never gets easier to see them happen. The Arizona State Sun Devils football program fell victim to the injury bug when captain Michael Matus (defensive end) went down Monday, August 15 with a torn ACL in his left knee. Matus was coming off a career-best season for the Sun Devils and was expected to be one of the most heavily relied on players in 2022 following several departures on the defensive line, particularly Jermayne Lole to the NCAA Transfer Portal (Louisville). Matus's loss will be challenging to overcome in more than one aspect, but there are a few different directions Arizona State can go in replacing his production. Anthonie Cooper will likely get the first crack for the starting role with some healthy competition from Joe Moore and Gharin Stansbury pushing him, as well. Could the Arizona State Sun Devils also get creative and flex one of their interior defensive linemen like Omarr Norman-Lott or B.J. Green to the outside? Host Richie Bradshaw gives his analysis on the situation and how the Arizona State Sun Devils football program should move forward with this loss on this edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast.BetOnline.net has you covered this season with more props, odds, and lines than ever before. Locked On Sun Devils - Daily Podcast On Arizona State Sun Devils Football & Basketball
On the number side of things, the Arizona State Sun Devils football program didn't suffer nearly as many losses to the NCAA Transfer Portal as its offensive counterpart did. Unfortunately, the defense did lose quite a few significant talents that were going to be incredibly important factors for the 2022 unit, and at each level of the defense nonetheless. The Arizona State Sun Devils must cope with the losses of defensive lineman Jermayne Lole, linebacker Eric Gentry, and cornerback Tommi Hill, along with linebacker Jordan Banks and defensive back Cam Phillips. The aforementioned Lole, Gentry, and Hill will be tough to replace. Lole was slated to be the starting defensive tackle for the team and was arguably the Sun Devils' best player heading into this season. Arizona State does have some good, young players to help mitigate his loss in Omarr Norman-Lott and B.J. Green, but Lole's presence will be sorely missed. Replacing Gentry will be difficult with a lack of proven depth at linebacker, but long-established starters Merlin Robertson and Kyle Soelle should be able to shoulder most of the load. In the secondary, Hill was projected to be one of the starting outside cornerbacks this year, which was especially crucial this season following the losses of Chase Lucas and Jack Jones to the NFL. Timarcus Davis will step into Hill's role, while a rotation of Ro Torrence, Keon Markham, and others will help to cover up this loss (no pun intended). Host Richie Bradshaw gives his detailed analysis of these losses on this edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast.Built Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar. Dalton delivers his reaction to the initial 2022 Louisville Cardinals football depth chart that was released last week via the program's media guide. The veteran returnees don't leave many starting spots open, but the backup competition will be interesting to watch in fall camp. The starting position battles at running back (Jalen Mitchell, Trevion Cooley, Jawhar Jordan, Tiyon Evans), nose tackle (Jermayne Lole, Dez Tell, Caleb Banks), and strong safety (Josh Minkins, MJ Griffin) are the three that Cardinal fans need to keep an eye on as the season inches closer.Title Sponsor-BetOnlineToday's Episode is brought to you by BetOnline. In this installment of the 2022 Louisville Football positional preview series, Dalton discusses the defensive line. Arizona State defensive transfer Jermayne Lole projects as the starter at nose tackle for the Cardinals, but the rest of the depth chart remains unclear. Dez Tell and Jared Dawson look to leave their impacts while Caleb Banks and Tawfiq Thomas are possible options that Scott Satterfield can go with. YaYa Diaby and Ashton Gillotte project as the defensive end starters, while there is a ton of youth waiting in the wings. Ramon Puryear and Mason Reiger both contributed last season. Victoine Brown, RJ Sorensen, Ryheem Craig, Henry Bryant, Zach Edwards, and Selah Brown all will compete for snaps as well. At the end, Dalton identifies Caleb Banks and Victoine Brown as the two possible breakout candidates. Locked On Sun Devils - Daily Podcast On Arizona State Sun Devils Football & Basketball
The Arizona State Sun Devils football program has a lot of veteran and well-established players headed into the 2022 season. This, of course, will have us focusing on who must step into a full-time leadership role for the team. This has, perhaps, never been more important for the Arizona State Sun Devils football program than it will be in 2022. ASU Sun Devils football is in a massive retooling stage, one of the biggest the program has ever seen, following the departure of both its coordinators, its starting quarterback Jayden Daniels, running back Rachaad White, wide receivers Ricky Pearsall and LV Bunkley-Shelton, tight end Curtis Hodges, offensive tackle Kellen Diesch, center Dohnovan West, defensive ends Tyler John and Jermayne Lole, top linebacker Darien Butler, and entire starting secondary including Chase Lucas and Jack Jones for various reasons. With all those losses in one offseason, plus countless other departures, we will be looking to our remaining veterans to step up this year. Fifth-year guys like Merlin Robertson and Kyle Soelle top our list, as well as veteran offensive lineman LaDarius Henderson, quarterback Emory Jones, and second-year transfer wide receiver Bryan Thompson also potentially looking at incredibly important roles. It certainly wouldn't hurt if some other guys like Khoury Bethley, Ben Scott, Camron Johnson, and others stepped up, too. All in all, host Richie Bradshaw dives into detail on how and why these guys could/need to become leaders for the Arizona State Sun Devils football program in 2022. Locked On Sun Devils - Daily Podcast On Arizona State Sun Devils Football & Basketball
If it's not one thing it's another for the Arizona State University Sun Devils' sports programs. We know everything that has been going on with the Arizona State Sun Devils football program between the underachieving era that Herm Edwards has rushed in as well as the NCAA COVID-19 violations that led to the departure of coaches like Zak Hill and Antonio Pierce, as well as several key players such as Jayden Daniels, Jermayne Lole, Eric Gentry, Ricky Pearsall, and others. The basketball program has underachieved even by Arizona State Sun Devils basketball standards under Bobby Hurley. The Arizona State Sun Devils volleyball team has had just one winning season since Jason Watson departed for the University of Arkansas Razorbacks back in 2016. Arizona State Sun Devils baseball went through major growing pains in its first season under Willie Bloomquist after trying to bring ASU back to prominence in college baseball. And now Arizona State Sun Devils softball lost head coach Trisha Ford to the Texas A&M Aggies softball program following a widely successful six seasons with the Sun Devils and will likely take several key players from an Arizona State Sun Devils softball program that barely missed the college softball World Series tournament. All of this has happened under the watchful eye of Arizona State University Sun Devils' athletic director Ray Anderson. At what point do we begin to set his metaphorical seat on fire for the ridiculous underachievement that Arizona State Sun Devils sports have had in his tenure dating back to 2014? Host Richie Bradshaw has a heartfelt conversation about his thoughts on Arizona State Sun Devils softball's loss of Trisha Ford and how this is continuing to affect Ray Anderson's status with Arizona State University on this edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast. Locked On Louisville - Daily Podcast On Louisville Cardinals Football & Basketball
Jermayne Lole has a long list of suitors after entering the transfer portal recently; the Arizona State defensive lineman is revered as one of the best overall defenders in the nation and would be exactly what the doctor ordered for a Louisville team that lacks interior production.Dalton explains that while the departures of TJ Lewis and Tim Lawson are not ideal, they aren't going to make much of an impact on next year's team considering that neither have played a single snap for the Cardinals. At the end, Dalton discusses the departure of Ahlana Smith and analyzes how the Louisville women's basketball team can replace her production.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!Built BarBuilt Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar. With 9 transfer portal additions this offseason, Dan Lanning and Oregon Football are clearly embracing the potential that the portal has to improve your team immediately. With 2 top-returners on the interior DL (Brandon Dorlus, Popo Aumavae) and 3 transfers at the same spot, could the Ducks REALLY look to add another player at that position? They just might, as defensive standout DT Jermayne Lole from Arizona State is scheduled to take a visit to Oregon in June among other schools interested in him.On this episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin discusses Oregon's continued involvement in the transfer portal--on the gridiron and also on the hardwood. Jermayne Lole is a high-impact player in the Pac-12, but with all of their depth on the DL it's hard to see Oregon emerging as the team to potentially land him. However, reports say that NIL will play a factor and that could give Oregon a boost in his portal recruitment.Dana Altman sparingly used the transfer portal during the first 5-6 years of his tenure with Oregon, but has brought in more players from other schools in recent years. Some have performed very well like Chris Duarte and Chris Boucher, while others like Amauri Hardi and Shakuir Juiston didn't live up to the hype. Spencer looks at some of the best and worst transfers that Dana Altman has brought in as the head coach of Oregon Basketball.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!Built BarBuilt Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar. Locked On Pac-12 - Daily Podcast On Pac-12 Football & Basketball
After an 8-5 2021 season, Arizona State Football finds itself in a precarious spot after the lowest-ranked recruiting class in the Pac-12 in 2022. Going into next season, they will have to make due without QB Jayden Daniels who transferred to LSU this offseason. Several quarterbacks showcased some nice moments in the Spring Showcase, but Florida transfer QB Emory Jones appears locked in to the starting job for Herm Edwards--who needs to produce a strong 2022 season. On this episode of Locked On Pac-12, Spencer McLaughlin is joined by Richie Bradshaw of 'Locked On Sun Devils' to talk about Arizona State Football after their 2022 Spring Game. With the departure of Rachaad White to the NFL Draft (3rd round to Tampa Bay Buccaneers), a prominent ball carrier might need to step up this year--and Deonce Elliot showed why he might be that guy. With the potential of Jermayne Lole leaving the program, an opportunity could be created for someone like Dylan Hall who showed promise in the Spring Showcase. Khoury Bethley could become a prominent player on the back end of the Sun Devils' defense as well. Going forward, the QB battle is the biggest question remaining for Herm Edwards and the Sun Devils. After missing 2021 with a triceps injury, Jermayne Lole is poised to be arguably Arizona State's best defensive player--but there's a real possibility he could end up transferring out of Tempe. Unfortunately for ASU, transfers going away from the program have been a recurring theme this offseason. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Just a few short seasons ago, the ASU defensive line was...to put it charitably, a question mark. But under the tutelage of position coach Robert Rodriguez, it's developed into a team strength and one of the best groups in the Pac-12. And, in a win for ASU's Pro Model, defensive tackle DJ Davidson was drafted by the New York Giants. Heading into the 2022 season, Rodriguez has another deep and talented group of players, but is also dealing with some uncertainty, as star tackle Jermayne Lole is the the transfer portal. He could be back, or he may leave, but Rodriguez's track record suggests that the Sun Devil DL should again be stout and disruptive. On this episode, we discuss his group of linemen, how NIL and the portal have changed coaching, recruiting, how he's evolved as a coach, and much more.
This week Podcast of Champions hosts Ryan Abraham and David Woods give a detailed recap of the final two Pac-12 spring games in the conference, California and Washington. Cal is looking at Purdue transfer Jack Plummer to potentially replace POC favorite Chase Garbers while Washington has a three-way QB battle going on to ring in the new Kalen DeBoer era. The guys also breakdown how the conference did in the NFL Draft (not well) with the fewest picks since the conference expanded to 12 teams. UCLA led the way with six players selected and even though Oregon sent the most players to the NFL Combine, the Ducks had just one player selected (though he did go No. 5 overall). Unfortunately there is more turmoil to talk about at Arizona State with freshman All-American linebacker Eric Gentry leaving for division rival USC and potential All-American defensive tackle Jermayne Lole also hitting the NCAA Transfer Portal. ASU AD Ray Anderson also had some hypocritical things to say about cracking down on cheaters in the conference at the Pac-12 spring meetings according to a report by friend of the pod Bruce Feldman. There is also discussion about Biletnikoff Awarding winning wide receiver Jordan Addison entering the transfer portal and USC's involvement in trying to get him to relocate to Los Angeles. As always Dave and Ryan spend the last part of the show answering your voicemails, texts and emails with questions about Pac-12 football plus lots of other topics. Locked On Sun Devils - Daily Podcast On Arizona State Sun Devils Football & Basketball
The Arizona State Sun Devils football program seemingly can't catch a break from the grasp of the transfer portal, as two more Sun Devils have entered the portal, this time in the form of defensive linemen Omarr Norman-Lott and Jermayne Lole. Considering how important these two were going to be for the Sun Devils' defense in 2022, the thought of losing them both is devastating. How much more can ASU football withstand before the team collapses from all these losses? On a lighter note, what does new Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Rachaad White's fantasy football value look like for the 2022 season? All of this and more on a late-night Tuesday edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast!BetOnline.net has you covered this season with more props, odds, and lines than ever before. Locked On Pac-12 - Daily Podcast On Pac-12 Football & Basketball
No team in the Pac-12 has had more success in the transfer portal this offseason than Lincoln Riley's USC Trojans. As they look to retool their roster following a 4-8 2021 campaign, Lincoln Riley has had great success getting players from other programs. Reports are out that the 2021 Beletnikoff winner (given to the nation's top WR), Jordan Addison, is considering a transfer to USC. His arrival would bolster USC's offense, but there is another name that IS officially in the portal that the Trojans should pursue: Arizona State DT Jermayne Lole.On today's episode of Locked On Pac-12 with Spencer McLaughlin, a look at a potential intra-conference player transfer that could help shape the 2022 College Football season. USC jumps out as a potential landing spot for Jermayne Lole, but a couple other schools make sense as well. Could UCLA or Arizona end up landing a player who has 20 sacks in 27 career games played during his time in Tempe? The Pac-12 had 25 players drafted in the 2022 NFL Draft, with many more signed as undrafted free agents. That number was tied for third among the major conferences, and serves as another reminder why the conference has to be able to recruit at a higher level to get back to the College Football Playoff. Spencer discusses the Pac-12's first-round selections and how they might fare on their respective teams: DE Kayvon Thibodeaux (Giants), WR Drake London (Falcons), CB Trent McDuffie (Chiefs), and LB Devin Lloyd (Jaguars).Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!Built BarBuilt Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar. Locked On Sun Devils - Daily Podcast On Arizona State Sun Devils Football & Basketball
The big game is tomorrow night for Arizona State Sun Devils football. There will (hopefully) be many questions answered from the team's scrimmage including the quarterback situation in terms of who starts, gets the most reps, looks the best, and more whether it be Trenton Bourguet, Paul Tyson, or someone else. We also want to see who the playmakers are not just on offense, but for the whole team entirely. Eyes will be on players like Jermayne Lole returning from injury, as well as incoming transfers Xazavien Valladay and Khoury Bethley and even established stars like Ricky Pearsall and Merlin Roberston. But more importantly, by the end of this spring game how confident should we feel about our ASU Sun Devils before heading into the summer? Locked On Sun Devils - Daily Podcast On Arizona State Sun Devils Football & Basketball
In a poor effort by the Arizona State Sun Devils, they suffered a loss to the Washington State Cougars by a score of 51-29. No that is not a typo, the Sun Devils failed to score 30 points, while only scoring 10 in the first half. There are a lot of numbers to break down, none of them are particularly flattering. Herm Edwards has been announced as the head coach for the 2022 season. Did they have another choice or was this the only realistic option? In positive news, the Sun Devils get Jermayne Lole back on a defense that will be missing play makers and leaders. Lole missed all of 2021 after suffering a Tricep injury, but has a chance to make a huge impact in 2022. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
