Luigi Mangione looked at the healthcare system in this country and laid the blame at the feet (maybe I should say the head) of insurance companies. When Luigi killed Bryan Thompson (allegedly) it was the 21st century bullet heard around the world. Half the country is high-fiving the guy for killing a rat bastard healthcare CEO while the other half acts like they don't have any idea why insurance companies are considered evil. You know, this sounds similar to another form of vigilante justice I've seen recently… oh yeah, January 6. Remember when half the country high-fived the January 6 protestors for breaking into the capitol while the other half acted like they didn't know why the politicians are considered evil. Isn't it funny how the left and right justify vigilante violence when it suits their ends but its worthy of pearl clutching when the other side does it. I'd love for someone to explain the difference to me between January 6 protesters and Luigi Mangione. ***You can check out Ladies Love Politics website to read a transcript/references of this episode at www.ladieslovepolitics.com. What would we consider fair expectations for the Arizona State Sun Devils football team in 2022, particularly on the offensive side of the ball? The team is having to replace its starting quarterback, two running backs, two wide receivers, and a tight end with not much proven talent returning from the 2021 squad. Sure, we are excited about the potential of quarterback Emory Jones and wide receiver Cam Johnson from the Florida Gators and Vanderbilt Commodores respectively to have big roles for the Arizona State Sun Devils offense in 2022, but what is returning that should give us hope? Bryan Thompson showed flashes during his time with the Utah Utes but did very little in his first season in Tempe, Arizona. An intriguing option at wide receiver for the Sun Devils would be Andre Johnson. Johnson has shown the capability to be a deep threat for Arizona State and we are hoping that he can finally put a full season together and build off that same potential. There is a lot of unfamiliarity and uncertainty facing the Arizona State Sun Devils football program and that is especially true for the team's passing offense. Gone are wide receivers Ricky Pearsall, LV Bunkley-Shelton, and Johnny Wilson via the NCAA transfer portal, as well as running back Rachad White and tight end Curtis Hodges, both of whom had big roles in the team's passing offense in 2021, via the 2022 NFL Draft. Returning are Bryan Thompson and Andre Johnson as the Arizona State Sun Devils' most established wide receivers, although the two combined for just 25 receptions a season ago. While we are optimistic about the two taking a step forward in 2022, our eyes are fixated on incoming transfer wide receiver Cam Johnson from the Vanderbilt Commodores football program. Johnson has shown the ability to be a crafty and elusive receiver when the ball is in his hands and has the sure-hands necessary to be a go-to option in any team's passing game. Johnson may be a breath of fresh air that the Arizona State Sun Devils football program is desperate for and could perhaps prove to be the team's number one receiver in 2022. The Arizona State Sun Devils football program will be facing a massive overhaul at its wide receiver spot following the transfers of Ricky Pearsall, LV Bunkley-Shelton, and Johnny Wilson. The position is also devoid of proven, established starters, although the upside of some guys like Andre Johnson and Bryan Thompson is certainly appealing. However, there may be some hope for a true number one receiver in the former of former Vanderbilt Commodores wide receiver and incoming transfer Camron Johnson. Johnson sat down with Locked On Sun Devils host Richie Bradshaw and talked about his time before Arizona State University including his high school days plus his time spent with the Vanderbilt Commodores football program. Johnson also details why he chose the Arizona State Sun Devils football program over some other suitors and has nothing but glowing things to say about his new teammates, including his potential quarterbacks and former SEC players Emory Jones and Paul Tyson. Regardless of who may be throwing Cam Johnson the rock this season, the senior wideout expressed nothing but confidence and determination in his sit-down interview with us. What is the Arizona State Sun Devils football team going to look like offensively? There is certainly a lot of changes coming to the unit, but none more so than the quarterback position. Gone now is Jayden Daniels, the team's starter over the last three seasons. Returning is Trenton Bourguet and incoming are transfers Paul Tyson from Alabama and Emory Jones from Florida. Of those three, it appears that Jones has the best inside track to be the day one starter for the Arizona State Sun Devils football team at quarterback thanks in large part to his established success at the position, plus his upside as a runner. Jones has some intriguing, albeit unproven, options to throw to in guys like Bryan Thompson and Camron Johnson, while a running back room of Daniyel Ngata and Xazavien Valladay could make this run game fun to watch. With a new offense and weapons around him, just what could Jones accomplish for the Arizona State Sun Devils in 2022? Host Richie Bradshaw pitches his predictions for Jones's passing and rushing yard totals, plus touchdowns and interceptions for the 2022 season.Built Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar. The Arizona State Sun Devils football program has a lot of veteran and well-established players headed into the 2022 season. This, of course, will have us focusing on who must step into a full-time leadership role for the team. This has, perhaps, never been more important for the Arizona State Sun Devils football program than it will be in 2022. ASU Sun Devils football is in a massive retooling stage, one of the biggest the program has ever seen, following the departure of both its coordinators, its starting quarterback Jayden Daniels, running back Rachaad White, wide receivers Ricky Pearsall and LV Bunkley-Shelton, tight end Curtis Hodges, offensive tackle Kellen Diesch, center Dohnovan West, defensive ends Tyler John and Jermayne Lole, top linebacker Darien Butler, and entire starting secondary including Chase Lucas and Jack Jones for various reasons. With all those losses in one offseason, plus countless other departures, we will be looking to our remaining veterans to step up this year. Fifth-year guys like Merlin Robertson and Kyle Soelle top our list, as well as veteran offensive lineman LaDarius Henderson, quarterback Emory Jones, and second-year transfer wide receiver Bryan Thompson also potentially looking at incredibly important roles. It certainly wouldn't hurt if some other guys like Khoury Bethley, Ben Scott, Camron Johnson, and others stepped up, too. All in all, host Richie Bradshaw dives into detail on how and why these guys could/need to become leaders for the Arizona State Sun Devils football program in 2022. Roy L Hales/ Cortes Currents - On Sunday November 7, Bryan Thompson and Susanna Oreskovic will be bringing The Mystery Mountain Project to Mansons Hall on Cortes Island. This is both a film and a book about about the 2018 Canadian Explorations Heritage Society (CEHS) trek to Bute Inlet, following in the footsteps of Don and Phyllis Munday's 1926 expedition to scale Mount Waddington. There are several Cortes Connections. Local historian Judith Wilson met the Canadian Exploration expedition on Quadra Island. They sailed to Bute Inlet with local tourism operator Mike Moore on board the ‘Misty Isles' and the documentary opens with multiple views of Cortes Island's well known schooner. There are only five stops in the book and film tour of Western BC, which starts at the Royal BC Museum in Victoria and also includes North Vancouver, Squamish and a virtual event in Comox. The Mansons Hall screening is brought to us by the Cortes Island Museum and Archives. This was the second historical reenactment film made by the Canadian EH Society. The first celebrated the centennial anniversary of  Conrad Kain's 1916 ascent of the Bugaboo Spire in British Columbia's Purcell Mountain Range. Trip organizer Bryan Thompson, who represents Don Munday's brother Bert in this reenactment, said one of the biggest challenges they faced was adapting to the gear that would have been used in 1926. (‘Extreme Adventure done Old-School' it says on the masthead of the Canadian EH Society website.) The straps of two of their homemade backpacks broke at the very beginning of the expedition. Their diet consisted of the foods on a grocery list compiled by the Mundays, most of which were canned goods and heavy. The six re-enactors set out through mosquito infested country without bug spray, wearing hob nailed boots that lack the suppleness of modern foot wear. “What we want to do is educate Canadians who went about exploring this nation back in the day and the pristine wilderness areas that they went exploring,” said Thompson. Oreskovic may appear diminutive with a 60 pound pack strapped on her back, but this is not the challenge that confronted her on the trip. She notes that while the membership of most mountaineering clubs is pretty equally split between genders, a European study found that 94% of the published literature was written by men. The film captured the climax of Oreskovic's struggle with self doubt in a scene where she broke into tears, “I can't do this, I can't do this.” To which Thompson replied, “Of course you can, you're doing it. You are here.” Thompson said a whole new perspective opened up when he read Oreskovic's book, “After reading it I was kind of I was kind of chuckling to myself because she really compares how us guys were processing things. We were not even aware of how we were processing things. All of this internal struggle, it doesn't come to the surface.” “The story is Don and Phyllis Munday were this powerhouse climbing couple. They climbed together for decades and they mapped out and climbed much of the Waddington range - which was really unmapped territory at the time. So they were hiking on Vancouver Island in 1925 and they spotted in the distance this peak that they had never seen before,” said Oreskovic. Neither the Mundays or their modern imitators reached the summit in their initial expedition. Don and Phyllis were successful in 1928. Thompson plans to return with two other re-enactors in July 2022. The reenactors with Mike Moore in front of the Misty Isles - Photo courtesy Susanna Oreskovic
