Unbelievable?
Is God's love truly for all - universalism or eternal damnation? Andrew Hronich vs Jerry Walls hosted by Dr. Sean McDowell

Unbelievable?

Top apologist, Biola professor, and author Dr. Sean McDowell guest hosts Unbelievable on the topic, 'Does God truly love everyone?'. Most Christians would say yes. At the heart of Christianity is a declaration that God so loved the world that he gave his only Son to make salvation possible for every single person. But there are very strongly held views across the spectrum about what happens when we die? What about those who have never heard? Is there a chance to acknowledge and accept God postmortem and spend eternity with him? How do we affirm the idea of God's love for all and the idea held dear by some that Christ died for the elect. Andrew Hronich endeavors to synthesize the many strands of orthodox doctrine into a single telos: ultimate reconciliation. He is a current master's student at Princeton Theological Seminary and an associate apologist, and the author of a new book "Once Loved Always Loved: The Logic of Apokatastasis". Opposite him and arguing for the logic of damnation is Prof. Jerry Halls, Professor of Philosophy and Scholar in Residence at Houston Christian University and author of some twenty books including “Hell: The Logic of Damnation”.   For Prof. Sean McDowell, Ph.D. TWITTER: @sean_mcdowell YOUTUBE: https://www.youtube.com/@SeanMcDowell www.seanmcdowell.org For Andrew Hronich https://www.instagram.com/amhronich/ https://www.amazon.com/Once-Loved-Always-Logic-Apokatastasis-ebook/dp/B0C5YSKWYW/ref=sr_1_1?crid=H3VLCEI3VZT3&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.f2dn02jEU87zCpQGwS72c1YXMpfS6vgYovAcB6pumD45GxzWvHzLrdSVUu1-LyMo.tUu-v49VlDX1Kg0ZzP0D57mqiuOlUHI1rwUlDh8oQFo&dib_tag=se&keywords=Hronich&qid=1710504006&sprefix=hronich%2Caps%2C161&sr=8-1 For Prof. Jerry Halls https://hc.edu/contact/jerry-walls/ For more discussion between Christians and non-Christians visit http://www.premier.org.uk/unbelievable • Subscribe to the Unbelievable? podcast: https://pod.link/267142101 • More shows, free eBook & newsletter: https://premierunbelievable.com • For live events: http://www.unbelievable.live • For online learning: https://www.premierunbelievable.com/training • Support us in the USA: http://www.premierinsight.org/unbelievableshow • Support us in the rest of the world: https://www.premierunbelievable.com/donate

They aren't difficult; however, they are the kind of questions that ordinary church people need to really reflect on and think about. Here they are for reference: 1. Evolution/Big Bang proves that Christianity is false. (6:30) 2. People believe in God because of wish fulfillment. (12:50) 3. The Bible seems like it was written by a bunch of uninformed peasants with no scientific knowledge at all. Why should we think that it’s reliable? (17:29) 4. Christianity is against gay people. Soteriology 101: Former Calvinistic Professor discusses Doctrines of Salvation

Dr. Flowers interviews Dr. Jerry Walls, Ph.D from Houston Baptist University, about his new book "Does God Love Everyone? The heart of what is wrong with Calvinism" which you can purchase here. Does God truly love all persons? Most Christians think the obvious answer to this question is, "Yes, of course he does!" Indeed, many Christians would agree that the very heart of the gospel is that God so loved the whole world that he gave his Son to make salvation available for every single person. This book shows that one of the most popular and resurgent theological movements in the contemporary evangelical church--namely, Calvinism--cannot coherently and consistently affirm this vital claim about the love of God. While some Calvinists forthrightly deny that God loves everyone, more commonly Calvinists attempt to affirm the love of God for all persons in terms that are compatible with their doctrines that Christ died only for the elect--those persons God has unconditionally chosen to save. This book shows that the Calvinist attempts to affirm God's love for all persons are fraught with severe philosophical and theological difficulties. Calvinism, then, should be rejected in favor a theology that can forthrightly and consistently affirm the love of God for all persons. Nothing less is at stake than the very heart of the gospel. Listen to Dr. Flower and Dr. Walls discuss this subject in depth on today's broadcast. For more on this topic, please visit www.soteriology101.com

On this week's episode, we hear from Dr. David Baggett. Dr. Baggett and co-author Dr. Jerry Walls have just sent in their manuscript of God and Cosmos to the publisher. God and Cosmos is a sequel to Christianity Today's 2012 Apologetics Book of the Year, Good God. In Good God, Walls and Baggett offer an abductive moral argument for the existence of God. In God and Cosmos, they focus their attention onvarious secular ethical theories and show why these theories do not provide as robust an explanation of morality as theism. One of the chapters in the book is "Moral Knowledge" and its that chapter we will be discussing today. This is a substantive topic, so we will be dividing the conversation up into three parts. The first part lays out some of the basic issues related to moral knowledge, including what exactly moral knowledge is, the kinds of moral knowledge available, and the general problems associated with saying we have moral knowledge.

The famous comic strip comes to life as Ken Niles announces.   On this nice bright morning, Alexander heads off to school. The doorbell rings with a package that's delivered COD by Mel Blanc. It takes some time for Blondie to rummange through her purse for the cash. What can the package be? It's an item for someone else, but the delivery man leaves before they figure it out. What now? The only thing to do is to deliver it to the rightful owner. After a bit of conversation, she just doesn't want it afterall. Now what?   The return to the delivery company can be done, but only if all the redtape, and paperwork is submitted. They could take the table back to the retailer, but it involves a bus ride with the big table to invonvenience everyone.   Musical Interlude is Jerry Walls and his orchestra playing, I'm Coming Virginia.   Blondie and Dagwood finally make it to the department store where they get the run around. Fed up with the lack of service, Dagwood tries to make a little sale in the store, but ends up being hauled in by the store detective, under suspicion of selling the store property without being an employee of the store. Blondie gives the detective a piece of her mind, and they get off the hook with him.   Still, they are left with the Dable, and head home. At least they now have a brand new, sturdy piece of furniture. Although it's not quite Dagwood proof.   Bonus Track: Tommy Dorsey. 1942. Marie
