It's the story of how one college, Eastern Michigan University, accrued the largest fine in history (at the time) from the Department of Education in violation of the Clery Act. In 2008, the school had to pay $350,000 in fines after administration lied about the death of 22-year-old Laura Dickinson. For 10 weeks, they allowed not only Laura's own parents, but also the entire university community and students, believe there was no foul play involved and that Laura had suddenly died of natural causes. But 10 weeks after Laura's death, the university announced they had arrested a suspect for Laura's murder, and they had actually been investigating it as a homicide the whole time. Laura Dickinson performed and then was immediately interviewed, and the Phantasmic Ghost Hunters sat down for a Q&A as well during the Winter 2017 NAMM show in California. Laura Dickinson has three songs on the Grammy ballot this year, has been working with Michael Bublé, has opened for Tony Bennett and Lyle Lovett, and has done work on the films “Rogue One” and “Sing.” She has worked for eleven years with Disney TV Animation, including on “Phineas and Ferb.” The Phantasmic Ghost Hunters, Gavin Kelly and Paula Purcell, were until now seen on YouTube, but have just signed an exclusive deal with Amazon. They investigate the most haunted, abandoned asylums, sanitariums, and mental hospitals. They have also released an app called the PGH Tracker to see ghosts and photos.

In this episode, voice actor and musician Laura Dickinson brings us insight into how she’s made it as a voice actor for Disney Animation and how good old fashioned hustle can really take you the distance. Laura makes her living as a full-time musician, contracting for Disney providing singing voices for animated characters on Phineas & Ferb, Jake & the Neverland Pirates, and Sofia the First. Essentially, “your nine-year old daughter’s favorite singer.” You’ve also heard her voice on Pitch Perfect, Modern Family, and Supernatural.
