Have you ever wondered about the life of a professional triathlete? In this podcast series, we interview current and retired QT2 Systems Professional Triathletes, exploring the path to earning (and maintaining) a pro license, the nuts and bolts of training and racing, and the ups and downs along the way. The guests also share how being a pro triathlete shaped their lives, and what advice they would give to their younger selves. Episode 1 features Linsey Corbin. Linsey joined the pro ranks in 2006. In her 17 years a professional triathlete, she raced more than 30 IRONMAN events, taking the overall win a remarkable 8 times (and finishing on the podium a total of 20 times). Linsey also raced 15 IRONMAN World Championship events - the most of any professional woman. Linsey was coached by QT2 Systems founder Jesse Kropelnicki from 2014 through her retirement in 2022. Already a multi-time champion and top five Kona finisher, she came to Jesse because she "wanted someone who genuinely cared" and who would pay attention to all of the details. Jesse taught her that to be successful, she needed to balance her training. He was there to hold her back when she needed to be held back, and push her when she needed to be pushed. She also enjoyed and valued being a part of the QT2 Team. If you do had the opportunity to do it all again, would you? "Oh Yeah"! Don't think just do. On this episode, I'm joined by professional Triathle Linsey Corbin. Linsey had a successful 17-year career in the sport of Triathlon. Linsey was a multi-top 10 IRONMAN finisher and eight-time IRONMAN champion.  As she was going for her 16th year at the World Championships in Kona (the most for a pro), she injured herself and was unable to participate. But that's not the whole story.  Linsey shares: How she built successful relationships with brands along the way. How she marketed herself to add value to brands and partners. How she dealt with success and failure. What she's looking forward to moving forward.   Listen to the full show on mikereilly.net/podcast   Follow Linsey: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/linseycorbin/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/linseycorbin Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/LinseyCorbinProTriathlete/ Website: https://www.linseycorbin.com/

Today on the MOTM Kona 2022 Triathlon Series, I sync up with recently retired, American Professional Triathlete, Linsey Corbin. Linsey has a decorated career in the sport with 17 Years as a professional triathlete and as of this year she was planning to retire after completing her last race in Kona, unfortunately she learned in her training and lead up to the iconic race, that she has a stress reaction in her femur and any kind of exercising was off the table.  If you follow Linsey on Instagram, you can read her posts and follow how she mentally pivoted. If you are an athlete, you know how hard it is to sit on the sidelines with an injury. I checked in with Linsey out of respect and she insisted on having me include her in the series. Not to worry, she is taking it like a champ, drinking wine and having croissants in Paris with her sister, of course! During our conversation Linsey shares how she got into the sport of triathlon, what she loves about it, and she talks about some of her favorite races. Linsey also shares her phillophy around nutrition and fueling during races, her overall mindset, and a few big lessons she has learned along the way.  We talk about her love/hate relationship with the iconic Kona World Championships and why she has done it 15X! Special thanks to Roka for arranging this conversation. If you are just dialing in, it's the superbowl of triathlon this week, the 2022 VINfast IRONMAN World Championships taking place in Kailua-Kona for the first time in three years. All week long on the Marni On The Move podcast, you will hear from top professional athletes and thought leaders from around the globe.     The Womens WC was yesterday Oct 6, 2022 and history was made. American Pro Chelsea Sodaro won the race and was the first American woman to win in over 25 years, since Paula Newby Frasier and the first Rookie to win in 15 years.  CONNECT Linsey Corbin on Instagram Marni On The Move Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, or YouTube Marni Salup on Instagram and Spotify OFFERS Neotein Neotein is a protein and electrolyte supplement. It's time to say goodbye to Witsup. The thing is, I don't want to write “it's with a heavy heart that we say goodbye … “ because my heart has done so much heavy lifting the last few weeks, if not months, as I have come to the incredibly tough decision to close down WITSUP and move on. I want to say that I'm finally in a space that it's with a light and happy heart that I can close this chapter, be excited about the next one and truly celebrate all of the awesomeness that WITSUP has achieved over a decade. From day one, WITSUP was a fight for improving the media landscape and the community for women in triathlon and sport, and we achieved so much in this space. But, for me, I now need to move on and find what lights my fire again. We decided to give WITSUP a send off via a podcast, so if you want to join us for an emotional trip down memory lane, we asked some of our faves to help share some stories. Hot tip: Don't edit your own finale podcast - it was brutal, but a beautiful thing. Thanks to Linsey Corbin, Belinda Granger, Mirinda Carfrae, Laura Siddall, Jordan Blanco, Meredith Kessler, Caroline Steffen, Rachel Joyce and Lizzy Blatchford. So what's next? I'm not entirely sure, but I know I'll dive in with the passion and drive I had when we launched WITSUP. And stay tuned, maybe the podcast will be back but will just be slightly different. Who knows. But firstly, and most importantly, I'm going to change the batteries in Frankie's toy that I've been telling her I'll do for weeks, steal a few extra cuddles, and probably have a gin. Thank you everyone so so much for all of your support over the years. It's been a hell of a ride.

Was just listening to a book called Linchpins and author Seth Godin talked about the importance of appropriately dealing with fatigue... No matter who you are, we all are going to get worn out through the race of life at one point or another, but those who are able to best endure the inevitable fatigue that sets in will ultimately prevail to live the most efficient and effective lives... Whether it was the grind of a 162-game baseball season, an Ironman Triathlon, the Western States 100, The Let Them Play Triathlon Across America or the 24 Hour Speed Golf World Record, fatigue played a major role in the overall success, or lack thereof in each event...   What I learned is that it's not whether or not we get fatigued, it's how we are able to respond... In baseball, we call it the dog days of August but realistically each of these events had their own dog days that I had to deal with head on... There were times when I became so overwhelmed by the physical and mental fatigue that I literally had to crawl to the finish, completely beaten down on all fronts...  Then there were times I would recognize the fatigue but continue to charge forward with the simple understanding that it would be painful but I was going to embrace it.  The ironic thing is that whenever I took the “embrace it” approach, the pain would miraculously go away and I would always find a second wind that would have me FLYING till the end. When I first got into triathlon, I did a camp with world class professional triathlete Linsey Corbin... A few months later, I was about to toe the line of my first Ironman and received a text from Linsey the night before:  “When it starts to hurt, pick up the pace!!!”  I originally thought it was a sick joke but ironically, whenever I have been able to apply it, the Linsey Corbin mantra has served as the ultimate fatigue buster through many of my ultra endurance endeavors...  Bottom line is that fatigue comes for all of us, yet the ones who figure out how to embrace it and then pick up the pace are the ones who ultimately win the race... -EB   P.S. The Let Them Play: A Triathlon Across America documentary is finally here, and it's the perfect film for a family movie night! Proceeds will not only benefit the Let Them Play foundation, but $1 from each sale goes directly to the COVID-19 Response Fund. Visit LetThemPlayFilm.com or click the button below to watch now!

Linsey Corbin, The People's Champion! Well, that's what I've dubbed her, because, the people love her. It obviously helps having an insanely adorable dog as her side kick. I think the underlying theme for this episode is "own your story." Linsey has learnt a lot about herself, particularly over the past couple of years that has seen her evolve as not only an athlete, but a person. This chat was a fascinating insight into confidence, perception, evolving and being true to yourself. I didn't know the conversation would go this way, but I am thrilled that it did.

Linsey Corbin went sub 9 hours (8.58:57) to finish 10th at the 2018 Ironman World Championships where she says conditions were "crazy fast." Remarkably it was her 12th time racing there! Linsey comes from a running background and her first Pro race in triathlon was in 2006. Two years later she came 5th at Kona and in 2011 she was 3rd at the Ironman 70.3 World Championships. She spent most of 2015 on the sidelines with a fractured femur and questioned if she would ever get back to the top. This is a fun interview, with some really good advice from Linsey. You'll hear:*The importance of racing your own race.*Why you don't have to "feel good to go good."*About the mental tactics she uses to get through a marathon when her legs are "battered" from mile one.*Why you WILL come back stronger mentally and physically from an injury*Linsey's views on periods and why having a regular one is a sign of good health*All about Bend, Oregon and why it is THE place to be!Helen also has a catch up with Laura Siddall after her recent guest appearance leading a strength and conditioning session at Knutsford Tri Club!Show Sponsors:https://www.precisionhydration.com/ - Leaders in triathlete sweat testing and hydration, with multi-strength electrolytes that match how you sweat. Today’s guest is coach Jesse Kropelnicki who is the coach of two past professional athletes guests - Angela Naeth and Linsey Corbin. What I like about Jesse and why he has had so much success is that it’s not just about the training. When things go pear-shaped most peoples knee-jerk reaction is “it must have been the training” - when most of the time it’s simply some other limiter that is getting in the way of being able to leverage the training. These limiters are typically daily nutrition, or race fuelling, race execution or simply the athlete's mental fitness is not there. We get into the nitty-gritty in this conversation and as usual, there are great lessons that can help you in your quest to be a better athlete. IN TODAY’S EPISODE, WE DISCUSS: Managing your mental space for high performance Why context in any situation matters There is no balance The strategy to fixing your limiters The foundations of performance Unorthodox training methods Setting up your environment for success in training, business and in life Durability and why that is a key ingredient The critical system you need in place The stress budget and why you need to understand this And so much more Listen & Subscribe on iTunes | Stitcher Radio SHOW LINKS: Web: QT2 Systems http://kropelnicki.com/ The Endurance Training Diet & Cookbook The Field Work Nutrition Co Other things mentioned in this podcast The Advantage Emotional Intelligence 2.0 Social: Instagram Facebook Twitter Join (for Free) our TRISPECIFIC CAFE https://www.facebook.com/TriSpecific http://www.instagram.com/trispecific SHOW SPONSORS: Today’s show is brought to you by Purica.
