Lead Pastor Ben Wallis
Remember that living with hope and trust in God is a wise decision that we must make every day. We face choices every day. The choice to listen to the voice of fear or the voice of faith. The choice to drown in problems or to use them as opportunities for growth. So, instead of waiting for problems to go away, let's start today. Every small step we take in following God's Word brings us closer to a life full of meaning and purpose. Let's strengthen our faith by praying, by reading God's Word, and by helping others. Finally, remember that God has a plan for you. A plan full of hope and a future. So, never give up and walk the path of life with strong faith.

In “Chosen for This: Living with Hope in a Hostile World,” Pastor DeWayne L. Wright opens a new series from 1 Peter, reminding believers that though we live as exiles in a world that is not our home, we are chosen, sanctified, and secured in Christ. Drawing from 1 Peter 1:1–2, Philippians 3:20, and Hebrews 11:13, Pastor Wright shows how our identity as God's people anchors us in living hope, even amid trials and hostility. This message calls us to hold fast to our faith, embrace our eternal inheritance, and shine as representatives of Christ until He returns.
We often define our lives by the big important moments. But most of our lives consist of ordinary and consistent daily decisions. They may not feel significant, but ultimately end up changing everything. In our new series, The Book of Ruth, we'll discover the hidden beauty of life's ordinary moments, and how obedience leads to blessing.
If despair has been weighing you down after child loss, you're not alone. There's a difference between being knocked down by despair and making it your permanent address — but how do you tell the difference? In this episode, Teresa opens up about what despair really is, why it feels so powerful, and where hope in Christ meets us in the middle of it.

Living with Hope in Uncertain Times: A Look at Luke 21In this Advent season, we often focus on the sweetness of Christmas—on the birth of Jesus, the infant in the manger. But in today's episode, we turn to a very different part of Scripture: Luke 21. This chapter takes us beyond the peaceful scenes of Bethlehem and into a challenging, sobering glimpse of the future. Jesus, speaking to His disciples, warns of impending chaos—the destruction of the temple, false messiahs, wars, environmental disasters, and persecution. It's a dark picture, yet it holds a message of hope.As we face the uncertainty of the present, fear often becomes a powerful force in our lives. From media that preys on our anxieties to cultural pressures that stir up dread, it's easy to be overwhelmed. But Advent invites us to shift our focus. It calls us to look forward—to a promised future, even amidst present trials. Just like the progression of light in a sunrise, Advent points us toward the hope that the darkness is not the final word.In this episode, we explore how we can live with hope, even in the face of fear. Through the lens of Jesus' teachings, we discuss:Hope amid institutional failure.Hope when false saviors ariseHope during times of war and political instabilityHope through natural disasters and environmental calamitiesHope despite persecution and loss of religious safetyJoin us for this powerful reflection on living with hope during Advent, as we look to the future with expectation and trust in the promises of our coming King.

In this heartfelt devotional, we explore the importance of living a life full of hope through faith in Jesus Christ. Anchored in scriptural passages, the speaker delves into the concept of being a 'lamp with oil' versus a 'lamp without oil,' urging viewers to reflect on their relationship with Christ. Highlighting the imminent return of Jesus, the message encourages believers to hold steadfast to their faith and prepare for the Lord's coming. The session also touches upon the nature of Christian sorrow with hope and the resurrection of the dead in Christ. It concludes with an earnest call to ensure that one's faith is genuine and transformative. 00:00 Introduction and Purpose 00:30 Heavenly Sunlight: A Song of Rejoicing 01:03 Lamps with and without Oil 01:28 The Return of Christ: A Daily Anticipation 02:33 Understanding Sorrow with Hope 03:33 The Power of the Gospel 05:03 The Resurrection and the Return of Christ 08:11 Professors vs. Possessors: A Self-Examination 09:11 Final Blessings and Prayer 09:42 Closing Remarks and Call to Action

Last year we released an episode of Doable Discipleship called The Burden & Gift of Living. Host Jason Wieland had read a book called On Getting Out of Bed by Alan Noble, and even though we were not able to interview him at the time, Jason needed to talk about this book. No book resonated with and spoke to Jason as deeply as On Getting out of Bed so Jason did his first solo episode of the podcast talking about the book. Well, the topic seemed to strike a chord as in the 6 months since its release, that episode has become one of the most engaged in the history of Doable Discipleship, and the numbers just continue to go up. On Getting Out of Bed is a look at the struggles of everyday living and the reality of mental affliction, to the point that some people constantly wrestle with the question of why to even get out of bed. The book is a beautiful essay on the reality of brokenness, the goodness of God, and the hope of healing. Well, today is a day Jason has eagerly awaited. In today's episode, Jason is joined by Dr. Alan Noble, author of On Getting Out of Bed. In this conversation, Alan and Jason talk about why the topic of life's burden speaks to so many people today, how generations approach mental affliction differently, whether or not to openly discuss your own mental afflictions, hope of healing, the role of those who care for those who struggle with mental afflictions, and so so much more. Doable Discipleship is a Saddleback Church podcast produced and hosted by Jason Wieland. It premiered in 2017 and now offers more than 380 episodes. Episodes release every Tuesday on your favorite podcast app and on the Saddleback Church YouTube Channel (https://www.youtube.com/saddleback). I've always struggled with the idea that we are living in the last days. I couldn't really put my finger on why because although I had heard several sermons on the end times, none of it really ever made a lot of sense to me. It all seemed complicated and over my head. However, over the last few years, I have explored this area more deeply and found hope that I never expected. (Please note that I do NOT believe this is a salvation issue. Wherever you land on this topic doesn't change your eternity. I will say though that where you stand on it may very well affect your daily life more than you think) Today Wes joins me to take what we talked about in the last episode a step further to answer how and why this perspective affects our daily lives as wives and moms.
