I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 27th of April, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in Psalm 20:7:”Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.” Who are you trusting today? Are you trusting a certain organisation? Are you trusting in a certain person? No, there is only One we can trust in, and His name is Jesus!Let's go now to the Book of Acts 14:19: ”Then Jews from Antioch and Iconium came there; and having persuaded the multitudes, they stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, supposing him to be dead.” One minute a hero! If you read a few verses before, you'll see they wanted to worship Paul and Barnabas because they saw how Jesus had healed a lame man, and now, because of persuasive words from other people from Antioch and Iconium, they turned on him and stoned him. Now, in those days, when you got stoned, that was the death penalty. Paul must have been in a terrible state and yet the next morning he was up on his feet again. What a man!I'll never forget a Rugby Cup Final, being played at King's Park Rugby Stadium in Durban between our team, the Sharks, and the Blue Bulls from Pretoria. The score was hanging in the balance. We were winning the cup. There were a couple of points in it. The referee issued a penalty to our team. All our little scrum half had to do was kick the ball out, and the game was over, but he didn't. He argued with the ref. The ref told him to be quiet. He carried on arguing. The ref turned the penalty around and gave it to the Blue Bulls, and up came their champion kicker, and he kicked that ball through the posts, and they beat us by one point. I want to tell you, from a hero, he became an absolute villain. I think he had to be escorted off the field. The crowd just turned instantly. That is how easy it is to change things! We need to put our trust in the Lord. What about Jesus Himself, when He was coming into Jerusalem before the Passover, they were worshipping Him, throwing their clothes on the road and cutting down palm branches. The next day, literally within a couple of hours, they were screaming out, “Crucify Him”, crucify the Darling of Heaven. Let's not do that today. Let's put our trust in Jesus alone!God bless you and goodbye.

The conversation delves into the importance of encouragement and hope in a world filled with anxiety and fear, emphasizing the fear of the Lord as the beginning of wisdom and the hope for the return of Jesus. It explores the significance of placing faith and hope in Jesus rather than relying on our own understanding, and the imperative of having a solid foundation in faith. The trustworthiness of Jesus as our savior and the endurance and perseverance of Jesus are also highlighted.TakeawaysThe fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdomPlacing faith and hope in Jesus is imperative for stability and resilienceChapters00:00 The Importance of Encouragement and Hope07:54 Exploring Biblical Teachings on Trusting Jesus13:26 The Foundation of Our Hope43:32 Jesus, Our Trustworthy Savior
This is message 8 in Gospel Record of John John 2:12-25 Jesus reveals His authority and holiness by confronting empty religion and calling for true reverence toward God. He exposes hearts that rely or are impressed by outward signs but unchanged within, showing that genuine faith is not built on spectacles but on trust in who he is. by pointing beyond a building to Himself, He declares that God's true dwelling is found in His own person and ultimately in those who truly believe. He knows every heart fully and commits Himself not to shallow belief, but to those who receive Him with repentance and faith, bringing life through His death and resurrection. Recorded Sunday 04 January 2024This sermon reflects on Jesus healing of the demon-possessed boy in Mark 9 to teach that real faith is not mere words but active trust in Christ. The disciples' failure and the father's honest prayer—“I believe; help my unbelief”—reveal that even small but genuine faith, rooted in prayer and dependence on God, carries power. Believers are urged to trust God fully in trials, resist divided loyalty, and walk in confident obedience, knowing He is faithful and able to bring new beginnings.

Here you are trying to pursue a godly life, when you fall into some sin. Now what do you do? Pastor Colin talks about the provision God has made for us when we sin.
Jesus takes five loaves and two fish from a boy and multiplies them to feed a crowd of thousands. When we trust him, Jesus takes our good will and our meager personal resources and similarly multiplies them to help us and others. Fortunately, faith is something we can grow in by choosing to do so. It is a free human act. By admitting our limitations and weakness and then confidently trying our best to do his will, Jesus makes up the difference between our insufficiency and the great things he wants us to do.
There are two traps Christians frequently fall into. Pastor Colin talks about how to avoid acquiescing to or despairing over your sin.
'Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus, and to take him at his word; just to rest upon his promise, and to know, "Thus saith the Lord." The words of this hymn came from a grieving heart. As Louisa Stead reflected on the devastating loss of her husband, she found strength for the future as she trusted in her Lord. We can glean truths from this hymn that will help us walk in the confidence of the Lord on life's good days and on life's most challenging days. How do you trust in Jesus?Script:This was a question asked by a young student in AWANA, and I was caught off guard. I gave my typical ABCs of the gospel — admit you are a sinner, believe that Jesus is the Son of God who died on the cross for your sins, and confess Him as the resurrected King over your life. I said that trusting in Jesus is something that happens in our hearts, and it's God who makes it happen. But I wasn't totally satisfied with my answer — and looking back, I don't think she was either.I gave it some thought, and here's what I think I should have said.I could have opened with: Well, who do you trust? Maybe your parents — your mom and dad. What does that look like? When I trust them, it means I believe they'll do what they say. I believe they love me. I believe they'll take care of me. I believe that we're family. So, to trust in Jesus means you believe what He says — one of those things being that we're sinners. You believe He is who He says He is: the Son of God who died on the cross for your sins. And you believe what He did, and what He tells you to do — to confess Him as the resurrected King over your life.To trust is to actively put your faith — your belief — in who someone says they are, what they say they'll do, and what that means for you.I trust that God will use whatever sliver of gospel hope I had in my answer and use it for His glory, as He always does. Even inadequate answers can receive amazing grace. I won't be caught off guard next time — and I'm glad to have learned a better answer to this question myself.Shownotes:AWANA Messagehttps://www.diveindigdeep.com/blog/messages/spirit-and-truthKids Q&A Playlisthttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_vN-vM53O-8cmwa4fcIaJk6GhnnjrgxXPreaching and Teaching:https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL761H3XZh_ND_RS09G8_SxPmcrw82GSVIAll Messageshttps://www.diveindigdeep.com/messagesLinks:https://www.diveindigdeep.com/https://newsletter.diveindigdeep.com/https://www.instagram.com/diveindigdeephttps://www.youtube.com/@soundwordsfm https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/soundwords

Believe In miracles but trust in Jesus #RTTBROS #Nightlight Trusting Without Seeing: When Faith Meets the Unseen Path "Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way." - John 4:50 In our walk with Christ, we often find ourselves standing at the edge of uncertainty, much like a free solo climber facing El Capitan's towering face. The next handhold isn't visible, the path ahead seems shrouded in mystery, and our natural instincts scream for security. Yet, it's in these moments that our faith is refined and strengthened. Consider the nobleman in John 4 who traveled twenty miles to find Jesus. His son lay dying, and his position of power meant nothing in the face of this crisis. How often do we find ourselves in similar situations – our worldly resources exhausted, our influence powerless, and our hearts desperate for divine intervention? It's in these moments of complete helplessness that we often find our purest faith. The beauty of this story lies not in the miracle itself, but in the nobleman's response to Jesus's word. When Christ simply said, "Go thy way; thy son liveth," the nobleman didn't demand proof or insist Jesus accompany him. He simply believed and went his way. Like modern-day believers facing their own El Capitan moments, he trusted without seeing the outcome. Just as H.G. Spafford penned "It Is Well with My Soul" in the midst of unimaginable loss, we too are called to trust God's heart when we cannot trace His hand. Our circumstances may scream for immediate resolution, like children begging for ice cream unaware of the greater adventure their parents have planned. Modern life has conditioned us to expect instant gratification. We have dishwashers instead of hand-washing, instant messages instead of letters, and GPS instead of paper maps. Yet God's timing often operates on a different schedule, teaching us that trust is more valuable than immediate results. The nobleman's journey home must have been filled with moments of doubt, yet he continued walking in faith. Similarly, our journey of faith often involves walking away from our preferred solutions, trusting instead in God's unseen plan. Like a pilot trusting an unseen control tower for guidance, we must learn to trust our heavenly Father's directions. Consider the three ways God answers prayer: "go," "no," and "slow." Each answer requires a different type of trust, but all require submission to God's wisdom. When we pray, we often try to instruct God on how to answer, much like trying to grab the wheel from Jesus when He seems to be going "off-road." True faith means letting go of our preferred methods and trusting His perfect will. The Galileans wanted signs and wonders, but Jesus sought true faith. Today, we too must guard against becoming so familiar with God's work that we lose our sense of awe. Like the hedonic treadmill that dulls our appreciation for blessings, we must actively fight against taking God's faithfulness for granted. Our relationship with Christ shouldn't be based on curiosity but conviction. It's not about seeing signs and wonders, but about trusting the One who performs them. When we face our own moments of crisis, may we remember that believing in miracles is good, but trusting in Jesus is better. Just as the nobleman discovered that his son was healed at the very hour Jesus spoke, we too will find that God's timing is perfect. Whether He answers with "go," "no," or "slow," our role remains the same – to trust His heart, believe His word, and walk in faith, even when the path ahead seems uncertain.
Today on Uncommon Sense with Ginny Robinson, we're discussing Kanye West's latest internet meltdown and what it reveals about the state of our unfortunate over-sexualized and depraved culture. From celebrity chaos to societal decay, it's clear—without God, the world spirals into total confusion and sin. We're breaking down the bigger picture and talking about why it's time to turn away from worldliness/wickedness and the dysfunction of degeneracy and back to the truth and love of Christ.
