Witnesses to the glory of God in the face of Jesus reflect that glory in the world. It was true for Moses. It was doubtless true for Peter, James, and John. We pray that it will be true of all of us who see God's glory in the word and in the supper and who are being “transformed into the same image” by God's Spirit.Scripture Reading: Exodus 34:29-35; 2 Corinthians 3:12—4:2; Luke 9:28-43

Welcome to the Word at St Francis, a welcoming and inclusive parish community coming to you from E 96th St in New York City. The Gospel is Jn 20:1-9: On the first day of the week, Mary of Magdala came to the tomb early in the morning, while it was still dark, and saw the stone removed from the tomb. So she ran and went to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and told them, “They have taken the Lord from the tomb, and we don't know where they put him.” So Peter and the other disciple went out and came to the tomb. They both ran, but the other disciple ran faster than Peter and arrived at the tomb first; he bent down and saw the burial cloths there, but did not go in. When Simon Peter arrived after him, he went into the tomb and saw the burial cloths there, and the cloth that had covered his head, not with the burial cloths but rolled up in a separate place. Then the other disciple also went in, the one who had arrived at the tomb first, and he saw and believed. For they did not yet understand the Scripture that he had to rise from the dead.

Tim Melton, American missionary in Nagoya Japan, takes us on a journey to give inside on people of other religions. Most people of other religions do not know about the gods they profess to serve. He then leads us into our need to know the one and only true God. We need to know Him and about Him. If we are to proclaim our God to others we have to know who He is, and what He is about. Our God made everything but Himself. He needs nothing from us. Other gods whether icons or idols are made by human hands. They need to be sustained by humans. We need to be sustained by the one true God.

1 Corinthians 6:12-20 “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything. “Food is meant for the stomach and the stomach for food”—and God will destroy both one and the other. The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. And God raised the Lord and will also raise us up by his power. Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never! Or do you not know that he who is joined to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, as it is written, “The two will become one flesh.” But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him. Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

Friends of the Rosary: We commemorate today the Feast of the Visitation, the second Joyful Mystery. This is a medieval feast that now is celebrated between the solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord (March 25th) and the birth of John the Baptist. Shortly after the Annunciation, the Holy Virgin, expecting a child, hurried to visit her cousin Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptist, who was cleansed from original sin in his mom's womb at the words of Our Lady's greeting. Elizabeth, feeling the warmth and kindness of the Virgin and filled with the Holy Spirit, proclaimed Mary as Mother of God and "blessed among women." Another truth in this event is Mary's singing of the sublime hymn of the Magnificat, proclaiming the greatness of the Lord and announcing prophetically that she would be venerated down through the centuries. "My soul doth magnify the Lord, and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior. Because he that is mighty, hath done great things to me, and holy is His name" (Lk. 1:46). Ave Maria! In today's podcast, we're launching a brand new series seeking to position ourselves to receive more of the reality of God's promises every day. There is so much available to you and to me in God that we fail to tap into. And today we're looking specifically at how waiting on the Lord, sitting patiently and intentionally at his feet, positions us to receive God's promise of strength. May God guide us to a better understanding, and deeper experience, of his promises today. Our Scripture for today comes from Isaiah 40:31, and today's worship is Take Courage by Kristene DiMarco. First15 is a daily devotional written and recorded by Craig Denison. If you would like to learn more about the First15 app, books, blogs, videos and our other resources, please visit first15.org. You can always reach out to us on our contact page on the website.
