Give to help Chris make the Truce Podcast! The Love Thy Neighborhood podcast is really well produced. But they also take deep dives into some of the things going on in modern Christianity that I can't cover on Truce. They are a good supplement to the stuff we cover on this feed. So we thought... why not share each other's show? In this bonus episode, you'll hear Chris talking with Anna Tran and Jesse Eubanks about their episode "Where the Gospel Meets Artificial Intelligence". It is a look into the ways in which AI may someday try to gain ground in the spiritual realm. Also, they do an interview with TikTok evangelist York Moore who uses that medium to share the gospel. I was especially interested in the ways in which AI chatbots are building false relationships with people, taking the place of human interactions. They cover a lot of ground! Let them know that you heard about their show from the Truce Podcast! Season six starts in just a few months, but I will be launching a bonus episode in a few weeks. Oh my bot! This episode is a first of its kind! This week, we teamed up with the podcast, Love Thy Neighborhood, to talk about whether or not artificial intelligence can be subverted for Gospel purposes. If you're not already familiar, Love Thy Neighborhood is a narrative-style podcast that explores discipleship and missions for modern times. In this episode, Patrick joins the LTN team to discuss AI in depth: how it works, how it's shaping our world, and how it's impacting the faith lives of real-world Christians. You'll hear stories from several guests detailing AI gone wrong, AI gone right, and whether or not AI can help us have a meaningful relationship with Jesus. Ultimately, we must ask ourselves: What are the problems associated with AI? And can we genuinely use it for good? Listen now!  Ok, truth time... Did you like this episode? It's always fun to have a returning guest back with us and today we are pleased to welcome friend of the show Jesse Eubanks back for his fourth full episode with us! Jesse is the Founder & Executive Director of Love Thy Neighborhood, host of the Love Thy Neighborhood & The EnneaCast podcasts, and now he's the author of How We Relate: Understanding God, Yourself, and Others through the Enneagram ( pub. Zondervan). Since we've already done an episode on the enneagram itself (also with Jesse!), we didn't spend much time on going deep into it here, instead we focused on Jesse's approach in the book of using it as a tool to better understand God and humanity. Listeners may have recently seen or heard artist/author/speaker/etc. Jackie Hill Perry speak out strongly against the enneagram (2 weeks before the book's release). Jesse opens up about what that was like and some of the effects it has had honestly and humbly. He will also be following up on her statements specifically on a future episode of Truth Over Tribe. We hope you enjoy our discussion with Jesse! If you do, be sure to share with a friend and on social media and please consider joining us as a monthly or one off supporter. Halfway There | Christian Testimonies | Spiritual Formation, Growth, and Personal Experiences with God

Jesse Eubanks is a certified Enneagram coach and host of The EnneaCast, a podcast exploring personality and relationships through the lens of the Enneagram. Jesse is also the founder and executive director of Love Thy Neighborhood,a discipleship and missions agency mobilizing people to follow Jesus and serve the poor in modern culture. Today, Jesse shares how he discovered his love for social action, his difficult path to relational health, and the contentious moment that led him to spiritual formation. Plus, we discuss why rightly knowing yourself is a deeply Christian thing to do and how the Enneagram helps on that journey. His new book How We Relate: Understanding God, Yourself, and Others through the Enneagram is out now. Jesse's story reminds us that Jesus loves and calls us to be our true selves in Him. Listen to Jesse's story in your favorite podcast player now! Stories Jesse shared: Writing a book to help people understand how they relate to others How our personality changes our relationship with God Growing up in a broken home in a divorced family Going to a conference in DC that changed his concern for the poor Studying about other perspectives in the world and how it hurt his faith Why social action, relational health, and spiritual formation became really important for him What happens to people in positions of power without spiritual formation Why self-awareness is important for growth Working at a shelter for nine years and what he learned Learning the truest and deepest thing about us is love Entering spiritual direction and how it helped him grow Reading about the Enneagram for the first time Launching Love Thy Neighborhood when he was funded Writing How We Relate and what people will get from it Why empathy is critical for relationships Great quotes from Jesse: The antidote for fear is God's presence. You can have all the right theology, your Gospel will be seen as bankrupt unless you are relationally healthy. It is impossible to have spiritual maturity without self-awareness. He has been working in urban ministry since he was 19, and he spent time working with a homeless shelter. 7:38 – What is the Enneagram? None of us see the world the same way. The Enneagram is a tool to help people understand the ways that other people perceive the world. It's a personality typing system that looks at motivation and core desires. 14:15 – “How We Relate” book You need to know about the Enneagram and Jesus. If you only use the Enneagram, you're missing half of the equation. The Enneagram doesn't need to be explicitly Christian in its origins to be useful. Why not just use the Bible? Sometimes we need new language to look at something in a fresh way. 20:54 – Enneagram types Type 1 – The Reformer Type 2 – The Helper Type 3 – The Achiever Type 4 – The Individualist Type 5 – The Investigator Type 6 – The Loyalist Type 7 – The Enthusiast Type 8 – The Challenger Type 9 – The Peacemaker 31:11 – Enneagram is a tool The Enneagram is a wonderful tool, but it cannot love me into wholeness. Just let God be who He is. 56:52 – Jesse's goal for readers Jesse wants you to know that Jesus is reaching for you and loves you. FEATURED QUOTES None of us see the world the same. The Enneagram is a tool to help people understand the ways that other people perceive the world. The Enneagram allows us to be really complicated people, but it's a very user-friendly approach to understanding all that complexity. Welcome back, friends!  I can't wait for you to listen to today's conversation with Enneagram coach and podcast host Jesse Eubanks as we discuss his soon-to-released book, How We Relate: Understanding God, Yourself, and Others through the Enneagram.  Ok, so I'm going to come right out and say it… It's very intriguing to consider the Enneagram alongside our relationship with God, isn't it?! Jesse and I discuss so much in this one, including ways to experience more meaningful relationships with God, others, and ourselves. The value of understanding how we approach our relationships is the same way we approach our relationship with God as well. Jesse Eubanks is a certified Enneagram coach and host of The EnneaCast, a podcast exploring personality and relationships through the lens of the Enneagram. He is also the founder and executive director of Love Thy Neighborhood, an urban missions agency putting young adults on the front lines of nonprofit work. Jesse and his wife, Lindsay, have two children and live in Louisville, Kentucky.   Listen in to learn more about: The nine essential desires and how one comes to the forefront in our lives. Some of Jesse's cardinal rules for using the Enneagram and why they are essential to consider. The three vital underlying emotions that are harming us and their antidotes. Favorite quotes: ~~“You can not have healthy relationships without self clarity. Self clarity is essential. It is essential for intimacy with other people, intimacy with God, and emotional flourishing. You need a tool to help you grow in your ability to see yourself from the outside and the Enneagram can serve you in that way. It will absolutely lead to deeper, more fulfilling relationships with God, other people, and yourself.” ~~“Our story that we have lived has a profound influence on who we are. We can't understand our personality and our Enneagram type apart from understanding our life story.”  ~~“The Enneagram as a tool can definitely be utilized to help us grow in our self awareness and have an understanding of what's happening on our end of the relationships we have with other people.”  ~~“It is really important to understand we are wielding something powerful when we look into the Enneagram and we suddenly have insights into other people. We have to approach that with a huge degree of humility, kindness, and empathy.”  This week's coaching segment: A simple trick to make a new habit stick while giving yourself grace. When it comes to entrepreneurship, there's more to it than just finances. A recent survey found that 49 percent of pastors reported conspiracy theories were spreading within their congregations. This is especially prevalent within evangelical communities. Although evangelicals are supposed to be known as people of the “good news”—which is what the word “evangelical” literally means—in many places they've become the largest consumers and spreaders of “fake news.” In this special episode co-produced with the Love Thy Neighborhood podcast, Skye Jethani and Jesse Eubanks take a closer look at the origins and impact of fake news. How we should define what's “fake”, why it's become such a problem, and what can Christians do about it. "As Jesus and the disciples continued on their way to Jerusalem, they came to a certain village where a woman named Martha welcomed him into her home. 39 Her sister, Mary, sat at the Lord's feet, listening to what he taught. 40 But Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing. She came to Jesus and said, “Lord, doesn't it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me.” 41 But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! 42 There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.”-Luke 10:38-42There are many ideas that may come to mind when we think of hospitality, even poor Martha got it wrong. We often think hospitality needs to look and feel a certain way.Hospitality is not a Pinterest inspired meal. It is not a clean home. Hospitality is not having it all figured it.Hospitality is authentically connecting with others.HOSPITALITY [Gk philoxenia (φιλοξενια)]. The practice of receiving a guest or stranger graciously was common to many social groups throughout the period in which the OT and NT were composed. But special nuances of hospitality, particularly with regard to the guest and host roles played by God or Christ, serve to distinguish the notions of the biblical writers from those of their contemporaries. The word most often associated with hospitality in the LXX and the NT is xenos, which literally means foreigner, stranger, or even enemy. In the NT one who receives visitors is said to be philoxenos, i.e., a “lover of strangers,” or to be practicing the virtue of philoxeniaThere is no “one word” for hospitality in the scripture…. The act of hospitality is seen throughout the scriptures both OT and NT.

The tithe (a tenth) is a timeless Kingdom principle. It was there before the law and the prophets and remains after. It is first and foremost an act of obedience. This principle if lived out will do so much more than change your financial situation...... it will change your life! You cannot believe Gods promises over your money until you practice God's principles with your money! The Bible teaches us that money and resource is a SEED! Money is something with the potential to be something more! Today's theme: The principle of sowing and reaping. I'd like to call this message.... The miracle of the motion!

Have you realized we struggle to be good Neighbors these days! We used to welcome people into our homes with a smile!  Now it's a federal offense when we don't text before coming over! What does it look like to be a Neighbor!? Neighbors see the “other” half. – Luke 10:30.   The bible says that the bandits left the man “Half dead”.  Profound!   One of the problems the Priest and Levites had was that they were “Half sighted”! Yah, half sighted!   You may have heard of a condition called, far sighted? You see things far away better than close up?   Maybe you have heard of a condition called, near sighted? You see things better close up than far away?   Both of those are natural conditions. There is a spiritual condition that can affect our sight to .... Called HALF SIGHTED!   Half sightedness will cause you to see the half of people that is dead and ignore the half that's not!  God is calling us to be a church that looks at people and sees the other half! – NEIGHBORS SEES THE OTHER HALF!

They thought it was about doing the motions and the religious activity! Once the time for activity ran out, they wanted to send the people away! The point is the people! “Jesus gave up being adored by the crowds for the sake of something better and truer. And that ‘better and truer' was to love you and to love the people around you more faithfully than the crowds could ever allow Him to.” That was just one of the many times Jesse Eubanks' words helped me see a deeper version of Christ, and I have a feeling you'll love this conversation as much as I did. Jesse Eubanks launched Love Thy Neighborhood in January 2014 and amongst all the things they do, I love that they really tackle what it looks like to follow Jesus in this culture. In this episode, Jesse breaks down why and how we can truly trust Jesus with who we are, and how our enneagram type factors into both the way we see Jesus and our understanding of our life story. GUEST: Jesse Eubanks  Today, we want to provide you with a vision for the future of missions in your neighborhood. Love Thy Neighborhood is an urban ministry for young adults that seeks to make an impact for Christ in the areas of homelessness, the sex industry, crisis pregnancy, orphan care, healthcare, neighborhood renewal, and nonprofit leadership. Their goal is to equip and to mobilize the next generation of Christian leaders to work with the poor, the suffering, and the marginalized. Here are some of the questions that we'll be exploring today: How could your church begin to engage the poor, the suffering, and the marginalized? What might God do in your church, if this became part of your vision for the future? What is the first step that you could take toward gathering young adults to love your neighborhood. With us today is Jesse Eubanks, the founder and executive director of Love Thy Neighborhood. The gospel that we proclaim as believers in Jesus Christ is an all-sufficient message for salvation--but the compassion of Jesus conveyed to us through the gospel calls us not only to seek the salvation of people's souls but also to assist them with their physical and emotional needs. In urban contexts in particular, these needs always seem to be greater than the resources we have available. So how can Christians partner with organizations in their community to provide comprehensive help for their communities without compromising the gospel? That's the topic that we'll be talking about today on the Urban Ministry Podcast. Our guest will be Jesse Eubanks, founder and executive director of Love Thy Neighborhood.

With Americans living longer than ever, there's a good chance many of us will age in place well into our nineties. How will we gain access to health and social services?
