Interview with Matthew Hayes, Executive Director of James Bay Minerals Ltd.Our previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/james-bay-minerals-asx-jby-two-pronged-approach-near-surface-gold-high-grade-skarn-upside-6312Recording date: 28th April 2025James Bay Minerals is advancing its strategic 1.4 million ounce gold resource in Nevada toward potential near-term production. The project features a high-grade component of 980,000 ounces grading 6.67 g/t gold and a surface oxide component of approximately 400,000 ounces at nearly 4 g/t.Located adjacent to Nevada Gold Mines' Phoenix operation, described as "the largest gold mine in the world," JBY's asset shares identical geology with a proven neighbor that has produced 9 million ounces over 40 years. The project benefits from existing infrastructure including power, paved roads, and secured water rights, with just a 15-minute drive to the established mining town of Battle Mountain.Executive Director Matthew Hayes, who holds approximately 15% of the company, highlighted their production-focused strategy: "We've got advanced heap leach permitting in place. And within 8-12 months we could be in production." This heap leach approach could enable operations to begin at a relatively modest capital cost compared to conventional mining.JBY acquired the asset in a distressed situation for less than $4 per ounce (now effectively under $2 per ounce at current share prices) and maintains a healthy treasury with $7.3 million cash. The company is currently conducting a 4,000-meter drill program targeting significant resource expansion, including previously undrilled high-grade outcrops with samples up to 42 g/t gold.Metallurgical studies demonstrate favorable recoveries of 79% for oxide material, exceeding the neighboring operation's 68% recovery despite processing much lower grades (0.32 g/t).Management's substantial ownership (approximately 33% collectively) aligns interests with shareholders and supports their anti-dilutive approach, with Hayes noting: "We'll most likely be looking to do it majority through debt financing."In the current strong gold price environment, JBY represents a compelling opportunity for investors seeking exposure to a potential near-term gold producer in a premier mining jurisdiction.View James Bay Minerals' company profile: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/james-bay-mineralsSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

Dr. Hayes has spent a significant portion of his life digging through Candian government documents and communications relating to UFO sightings. His quest hasn't been to solve the mystery of unexplained flying objects or confirm the existence of extraterrestrial life. Dr Hayes has viewed it as a social phenomenon and by removing the faith based baggage that often accompanies this topic, his work leaves us with a unique context to view this subject. Alluring, nurturing, dangerous, and vulnerable, the yamamba, or Japanese mountain witch, has intrigued audiences for centuries. What is it about the fusion of mountains with the solitary old woman that produces such an enigmatic figure? And why does she still call to us in this modern, scientific era? Co-editors Rebecca Copeland and Linda C. Ehrlich first met the yamamba in the powerful short story “The Smile of the Mountain Witch” by acclaimed woman writer Ōba Minako. The story revealed the compelling way creative women can take charge of misogynistic tropes, invert them, and use them to tell new stories of female empowerment. Yamamba: In Search of the Japanese Mountain Witch (Stone Bridge Press, 2021) represents the creative and surprising ways artists and scholars from North America and Japan have encountered the yamamba. Thank you for tuning in to this spooktacular special! It's a fun, exciting, and magical tale of tails- about a pair of young raccoon-type twin dogs living on Dogland. This story can be listened to without having listened to our serial episodes in Seasons 1&2, but it is also how we are choosing to kick off Season 2. Although the story has some mild suspense and Halloween-adjacent fun, it is mostly fun and silly and meant to delight young listeners (age 4+) and old. It will lift your spirits and give 'em pumpkin to talk about! We wrote the song that plays at the end of our episodes along with Hank's Granny, aka Jean Murphy! The song is called “Howl-o-ween!” We took story inspiration from A Tale for Halloween by Loretta Ellen Brady from the collection, The Green Forest Fairy Book (1920.) Special thanks to our creative partner Jason Roark who records, edits, and designs this show. He also provides original music including our opening theme song, which is sung & performed by him and the wonderful, talented Jen Bernard. This episode featured a bit of Jason's Howl-o-ween version of a family favorite song, In the Hall of Mountain King by Grieg, who hated the song and wrote it to be a parody of the music of the time that he disliked. We love all of Peer Gynt and encourage you to check it out! This episode's cover art is by Mom Slice and features our original Power Dog illustration by Matthew Hayes.
