Clemson, like Florida State, is trying to sue its way out of the ACC. Does this mean Big 10 expansion will be sooner than later? We think so. Clemson filed a lawsuit this week against the ACC and its Grant of Rights Media deal and says the $130,000,000 contract buyout is ridiculous and unfair and they want out of the conference. Florida State filed a similar lawsuit in December. Now that the two most valuable schools in the ACC want out, what is next? We think if they win their cases, the game of musical chairs and conference alignment will be in full force again and the Big 10 will be a prime and desirable landing spot for most of the ACC teams when the conference implodes. The question remains: Which teams will go to the Big 10 and which teams will jump to the SEC?BUCKEYES BULLETIN:We also have a lot of news around the Ohio State Buckeyes. First of all, recently fired basketball coach Chris Holtmann explains what went wrong with his basketball team and we are not buying the answer. Also, the Ohio State football team is interviewing running backs coaches and former Buckeyes linebacker Mike Vrable will be in Ohio for a while. Does his presence turn up the hot seat for Ryan Day? We will explain. SPARTY TROUBLE?Finally, Michigan State football announced the departure of three players as spring football gets under way. And we will post our final Big 10 men's basketball power rankings for 2023-24 here on Locked on Big 10! Tell your friends about us and join in the fun! Nick and Dustin react to the Mike Vrable hiring as a consultant for the Browns.
The Bill O'Brien decision to leave Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes as their new offensive coordinator to become the head coach at Boston College sparked a huge chain reaction in the coaching world. Day hired his mentor and UCLA Bruins head coach Chip Kelly within minutes. Now, Minnesota Gophers head coach PJ Fleck is in the running for the UCLA job. Huh? Crazy, right? Where does it end? We will have all of the latest news and opinion as this story continues to unfurl. We also have more coaching news regarding the Michigan Wolverines staff and it looks like former Tennessee Titans coach Mike Vrable will assist Luke Fickell and the Wisconsin Badgers this spring in an undefined role. Speaking of Wisconsin, what's wrong with their men's basketball team? They've lost four in a row. We think we know why and we will give you the answer. Seth and Sean discuss all the outlets and pundits suggesting the Texans bring in RB Saquon Barkley and if it's a good fit, and discuss if Mike Vrable intimidated ownership too much to get a job this offseason.
Mike Vrabel will not be a head coach in 2024. The Steelers need to call Vrabel and get him on the staff in some capacity. Get his thoughts and offer him something to stay in coaching this year. There are not a lot of coordinator jobs left.
Keep an eye on Texas A&M. Some think they may leave the SEC just as their old rival Texas Longhorns join. Would the Aggies come to the Big 10? Some think there could be mutual interest some day. Certainly the Big 10 would love a footprint inside the state of Texas. So what is causing this topic of conversation? Well, we are watching the ACC closely and we feel that conference will blow up. If it does, expect a bidding war between the Big 10 and ACC for North Carolina and Virginia to take place. Depending on the results of that situation, eyes may fall on Texas A&M to move to the Big 10 or maybe return to the Big 12. Another option for the Aggies is to remain where they are. Expansion talk is crazy. We also look at Michigan football's plan for offensive coordinator under Sherrone Moore and we ask if Mike Vrable would spend a year as an coaching analyst at Wisconsin or Ohio State. Interesting! Iowa's Caitlin Clark continues her march toward the NCAA scoring mark with a game tonight and we have our weekly Big 10 Power Rankings for Men's basketball. But right now no one is on a better streak than Will Compton AKA Payoff Willy & The Boys First we dive into our NCAA slate where it comes to our attention that Dabo Swinnery and the Clemson Tigers might be FRAUDS. Then we discuss the Lane Kiffin vs Brian Kelly matchup. LSU is in a must win situation and when you look at Ole Miss's schedule they could also be potential frauds. Next we get into our NFL games (which we are crushing by the way) where we talk everything from Zach Wilson and the New York Jets to Arthur Smith and the Atlanta Falcons. I love the Tennessee Titans. My teeth are little and blue from cooking up the good stuff with Mike Mularkey. Demarco Murray and Derrick Henry, these jorts don't bleed. Kendall Lamm, Josh Kline, Quinton Spain, it don't matter baby, we're running the outside zone. Marcus Mariota v. Denver spurned the glorious rise of Ryan Tannehill play action. Mike Vrable's nipple piercings. Randy Bullock's teenis. Jadeveon Clowney, Jonathan Joseph, Dylan Cole, Kendall Lamm, MyCole Pruitt, David Quessenberry, Ben Jones, and all the others who started in Houston, and arrived in Nashville, to start a country cover band. A team that takes chances, wears jerseys that are two colors of blue jeans, knows their scheme, finds the archetypes to run it, and plays football in a bizarre and beautiful way. Look, I know you hate the Tennessee Titans. They took the Houston Oilers away from you. The namesake, all those torturous memories, placed in a UHaul and left in the basement of a western wear. Leave all that be for a hour. Open up your heart. Because the Tennessee Titans have something the Houston Texans don't have, but are trying to build, and that's a culture. Live, laugh, listen, and learn more about it. On this episode of Battle Red Radio, Will Lomas of Titansized.com and the No Nonsense Podcast, joins Matt Weston to review the Texans win over the Titans, and discuss what makes the Titans work. Topics include: Todd Downing's playcalling, DRENCHED Mike Vrabel, the Desmond King and Dontrelle Hilliard revenge games, the plan for a Titans playoff run, if Ryan Tannehill can handle the added responsibility, the cult of TITAN UP, Tennessee's outside zone game, loving Ben Jones, and of course, your beautiful and wonderful listener questions.
