The guys jump right into the news that DeMarco Murray was a candidate for the Penn State running backs coach job, but will stay at OU after all. Lock in for another DeMarco Murray/OU running backs discussion (1:30). Lee did not quite realize how lowly ranked OU's 2025 signing class is. This takes us on a journey of OU's previous recruiting classes. The 2017 class was incredible (28:05). Over to the John Mateer/Ben Arbuckle 2024 watch as Washington State won a 54-52 2OT shootout against San Jose State. Mateer and Arbuckle continued to show a lot of promise, while Mateer also provided two massive lowlights. Through 4 games we are still very much pleased about what we've seen from both Mateer and Arbuckle (41:20). Jalen Hurts and the Eagles dominated the Chiefs in the Super Bowl. Unfortunately, it was a very poor game (1:14:00). The guys inexplicably close the show with thoughts on the OU men's basketball team (1:23:35). | Like the show on Facebook: @westofeverest | Follow Grant on Twitter: @GrantBenson25 | Follow Lee on Twitter: @LeeBensonTweets
Recap of UNLV Basketball's 77-52 victory over the Air Force Falcons. Possible landing spots for Aaron Rodgers after the New York Jets decided not to bring him back for a third season. Former NFL running back, DeMarco Murray emerged as a candidate for Penn State's running backs coach position. Live from the Battle Born Broadcast Center, voice of UNLV Football Caleb Herring joins Cofield & Company to discuss Matt Rhule's decision to cut Nebraska Football's spring game due to concerns over the transfer portal, review whether Patrick Mahomes' legacy was impacted by the loss at Super Bowl LIX, and give his thoughts on the quality of Kendrick Lamar's Super Bowl halftime show.

DeMarco Murray appears to be staying with Oklahoma Football.
Grant opens the show by reminding everybody that DeMarco Murray and Joe Jon Finley continue to be on staff and presents a new conspiracy theory. We transition smoothly to OU bringing on Nate Dreiling and Wes Goodwin to coach linebackers. Brent Venables also announced that he will be calling plays in 2025 (7:45). Ben Arbuckle is going to make $1.5M per year (25:05). Thoughts on John Mateer and Ben Arbuckle in Washington State's win in Week 3 over Washington. There's a lot of good with this duo through three games (28:10). Brian Hartline is going to be the next OC at Ohio State. Grant really likes this guy (1:04:45). Obligatory thoughts on the upcoming Super Bowl matchup (1:07:05). | Like the show on Facebook: @westofeverest | Follow Grant on Twitter: @GrantBenson25 | Follow Lee on Twitter: @LeeBensonTweets
Grant opens the show with some recent news that required a visit to urgent care. We get past that to get to the great news that R Mason Thomas is coming back and FSU transfer Marvin Jones Jr. will join him on the defensive line (3:20) OSU transfer Kendal Daniels is joining the roster as well. What will be his role? Grant seems to think he could play more linebacker than DB (11:20). Lee saw a tweet that caught his eye that leads to a major hypothetical situation that involves OU's defensive coordinator opening (19:15). Joe Jon Finley and DeMarco Murray continue to be on staff. Is it possible Ben Arbuckle can improve the offensive staff as a whole (27:00)? We answer a listener question about the types of players OU has gotten out of the transfer portal so far. Brent Venables' formula for 2025 is looking more and more clear (34:20). We wrap it up with our final thoughts on the CFP semifinals and how the first year of the 12-team playoff has not been as fun as we had hoped (43:40). | Like the show on Facebook: @westofeverest | Follow Grant on Twitter: @GrantBenson25 | Follow Lee on Twitter: @LeeBensonTweets
Grant is back from Rome. Deion Burks is returning to OU. Grant is hoping OU is not breaking the bank for him. Lee struggles to care about all the money stuff (2:30). BREAKING: John Mateer commits to OU in the middle of the pod. Will/can OU now go get a top tier WR out of the portal? The tight end room looks to be a mess and an unknown (13:10). Is OU bargain shopping in the portal? Will Joe Jon Finley and DeMarco Murray be on staff after the bowl game (33:25)? OU got commitments from a tackle from Stanford and a punter from Kennesaw State. Grant goes over some defensive targets for OU (41:45). What's going to happen with Damonic Williams (46:50)? Jackson Arnold is off to Auburn and LSU is taking two of OU's offensive players. Kalib Hicks will look to get some playing time at OSU and Makari Vickers is off to Colorado (55:15). Alex Grinch is the new DC at UCF and Bill Belichick is going to be a head coach in college football (1:03:30). We make our Playoff picks against the spread and randomly also pick the Hawaii Bowl (1:11:20). Grant predicted almost exactly how the 2024 season would play out (1:26:00). Some parting thoughts about OU-Navy in the Armed Forces Bowl (1:27:00). | Like the show on Facebook: @westofeverest | Follow Grant on Twitter: @GrantBenson25 | Follow Lee on Twitter: @LeeBensonTweets
Brent Venables opens the show with his story of late night Taco Bell following the win over Alabama. The guys are incredibly excited about this development and go into detail about why (00:00). Venables admitted he failed on the Seth Littrell hire. Does this do anything for you? Did the Alabama game show us what OU could have been this season with a competent offense (10:10)? Venables joked about DeMarco Murray finally letting Xavier Robinson play more. We don't think this is a laughing matter (20:35). We look at the improvement in OU's rush offense in the four games since Joe Jon Finley has been calling plays (27:00). Doesn't sound like Deion Burks or Jalil Farooq will be available this week (33:05). We preview the LSU game with all of the most interesting aspects of this matchup. LSU's pass offense is elite. Can OU's DBs cover? LSU's defense is not good. Can OU's offense replicate the success they had against Alabama? Venables has a chance to prove the Bama game was not a fluke (36:45). Brief thoughts on the SEC slate, followed by our weekly picks. Games include Memphis-Tulane/South Carolina-Clemson/Notre Dame-USC/Miami-Syracuse/Texas-Texas A&M (59:10). | Like the show on Facebook: @westofeverest | Follow Grant on Twitter: @GrantBenson25 | Follow Lee on Twitter: @LeeBensonTweets

In the opening take, Lee tries to find out the correct degrees of blame for OU's offensive line being terrible. Then Grant joins to give his thoughts on the offensive line and push back on some of the points Lee made. As much as we didn't want to do this, we do a long segment on the offensive line, previous recruiting classes, Bill Bedenbaugh's coaching ability, and how much blame Lincoln Riley deserves (8:00). Grant says OU being bad is boring. Brent Venables had a long press conference this week that didn't amount to much. We got some injury updates at least, Lee brings up his injury conspiracy theory again, and Grant takes another victory lap over his Jacobe Johnson take from weeks ago (37:15). We do a thought exercise involving OU losing to Maine. No, we don't want OU to lose to Maine. I'm sorry but we really like Curt Cignetti (46:00). What's the most boring result in the OU-Maine game? Grant tells us what he wants to see in this game and he goes all the way in on DeMarco Murray so get your popcorn (55:10). We thank listeners for their 5-star podcast reviews (59:00). SEC talk focuses on Grant laying out why Hugh Freeze should be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame (1:03:50). We make our picks against the spread. Hey Friday Night Lights are almost upon us! The guys begin the show talking about the NCAA suspending DeMarco Murray for one game. Lee rants about how much he doesn't like documentaries (2:00). OU is a 42.5 point favorite over Temple. The Owls' QB situation is a mess, they've got a bunch of new players on their team, their defense is going to atrocious, and if OU struggles at all during this game, that would be a letdown (8:50). We answer one quick message from the WoE Facebook page before looking at some of the Week 1 SEC matchups that are outside of the mainstream (24:00). We make our weekly picks against the spread. Brent Venables opened up practice for quite a long time to the media this week. Plus many players conducted interviews, including Jovantae Barnes. We begin the show by jumping into Barnes and what the heck is going on with his foot and his potential availability for the 2024 season. Lee goes through the timeline of his foot injury dating back to last spring and we try to figure out if he's ever going to be healthy--or maybe Barnes just simply isn't very good (3:00). Grant points out that the two players atop the RB depth chart are injury prone, so potentially all RBs have a chance to get some run this year. We relitigate the final quarter of the Kansas game and ask why Barnes was in the game and not Gavin Sawchuk? We also continue to question DeMarco Murray's management of that room (17:20). We move over to Jackson Arnold and what he's working on this spring. Is he really off of social media? Grant is expecting a big season from Arnold, but Lee can't help but think of the worst case scenario. What if Jackson Arnold plays as well as Spencer Rattler played in his RS-Freshman year? Would we take that (30:15)? I think we continue to get evidence the TE room is much better than it was a season ago. Thoughts on Davon Mitchell and Kaden Helms (40:45). David Stone and Jayden Jackson are making really good first impressions (47:40). I think we learned a lot from Dasan McCullough's availability this week. Grant's afraid he does not have a true position anymore, while Lee is hoping that maybe Will LB is a spot that can allow McCullough to contribute and make plays (53:40). Woodi Washington is repping at basically every secondary position. Lee's not sure this is a good thing for Woodi. Grant wants to remind everybody that while OU's secondary looks to have a lot of depth, the pass defense was still bad in 2023 (1:00:30). All we're getting is good vibes from Zac Alley and it sounds like he's simplifying the defene for everybody. Does that sound too much like Alex Grinch's Speed D (1:12:00)? Thoughts on Justin Harrington and his recovery from injury. Grant wants to make sure he brings up Deion Burks and the rave reviews he's been getting. Plus there were reports that Troy Everett suffered some sort of an injury this week (1:17:00). Lastly, Lee doesn't care at all to hear about Casey Thompson right now. Grant defends Casey (1:24:50). | Like the show on Facebook: @westofeverest | Follow Grant on Twitter: @GrantBenson25 | Follow Lee on Twitter: @LeeBensonTweets

After some opening pleasnatries, we jump into the story of DeMarco Murray staying at OU after getting courted by Ohio State. The guys have been critical of Murray in the past, so what did they think when this story broke? We recall all the reasons why we've been critical of Murray and it all comes back to Tawee Walker (2:30). Lee reads from a story published in August of last year that may help shine some light on the relationship between Murray and Tawee Walker (22:10). Lee goes through the four recruiting classes Murray has been involved with at OU. We also look back at the RBs OU has recruited since 2013, back when Cale Gundy and Jay Boulware were involved (26:30). This week we learned who OU will be playing in 2025. Which road games would you like to attend (39:10)? We check in with ESPN's top pass catcher list. Deion Burks received some votes. Is OU's WR room being shortchanged (47:15)? We go to the WoE FB page to read reactions from the Coachstradamus interview from last week (55:00). Lee wants to clean up the WoE inbox as he missed and failed to reply to comments that were posted up to 3 years ago. There's also a recent comment asking about the OU wide receivers and just how good they can be (1:05:25). We wrap up the show with some NCAA Tournament talk. Would have been nice to see OU getting a chance to play at least one game. Man, they need a big man. Ohio State men's basketball has a new head coach while Ohio State football has an unexpected opening for a running backs coach. Both teams have championship expectations. The Ohio State basketball coaching search ended over the weekend when Jake Diebler was promoted from interim coach to head coach. While Diebler has never been a full-time head coach before, making it anyone's guess how he will ultimately fare as a long-term head coach, Ohio State is projecting nothing but confidence in Diebler, making it clear they believe he can build the Buckeyes back into a championship contender.Ohio State football, meanwhile, had a surprise staff vacancy pop up last Wednesday when Tony Alford left the Buckeyes to become the running backs coach at Michigan. Ryan Day didn't seem too concerned about Alford's exit during his press conference on Tuesday, though, stating that Ohio State has already identified an “excellent” group of candidates and that he believes the Buckeyes can have “the best offensive staff in the country.”Day also showed confidence on Tuesday in several players who are currently competing for starting jobs in spring practice, namely right tackle Josh Fryar, tight end Gee Scott Jr. and wide receiver Brandon Inniss, who all drew considerable praise from Ohio State's head man after the Buckeyes' third spring practice. With spring practice back in full swing for Ohio State football, Ohio State men's basketball looking to make an NIT run with its head coach, Ohio State women's basketball hoping to make a deep NCAA Tournament run and three other Ohio State sports teams having a chance to win national championships this weekend, it's an extremely busy week in Ohio State sports, giving us lots to talk about on this week's episode of Real Pod Wednesdays. The full rundown:1:08: Jake Diebler's hire came a bit sooner than expected, but it had good reason to make a move now5:37: Ross Bjork makes it clear the expectation for Diebler is to win championships7:08: Jake Diebler's authentic passion for Ohio State can help him succeed as OSU's head coach15:12: Rebuilding the coaching staff, adding transfers among Diebler's first tests as head coach25:09: Getting back to the Sweet 16 should be the goal for Diebler's first season26:04: Tony Alford's departure was a surprise, but Ryan Day expects an “excellent” replacement27:25: Ohio State could be trying to pry DeMarco Murray away from his alma mater29:33: It seems like both Day and Alford were ready for a change30:35: Ohio State can afford to take its time with RB coach search because of who it has at RB33:54: Robert Gillespie, Deland McCullough, Stan Drayton also among logical RB coach candidates35:03: Ryan Day is smart to involve the current running backs in the RB coach search37:15: Ohio State's Jim Tressel-inspired special teams coaching plan appears to be a sound one41:21: Buckeyes getting used to helmet communication, which could lead to more creative play calls44:09: Josh Fryar solidifying his status as Ohio State's starting right tackle so far this offseason47:17: Gee Scott Jr. is putting himself in position to be Ohio State's starting tight end50:28: Brandon Inniss showing Ryan Day and us that he can be an impact player this year55:12: Pro Day will give us our first real glimpse at Will Howard vs. Devin Brown56:25: Ohio State women's basketball can beat anyone at its best but faces tough road to Final Four1:01:08: Women's hockey, pistol and synchronized swimming are all on natty watch this weekend1:03:02: Houston and UConn are our NCAA Tournament picks (plus a bonus NIT pick from Andy)

For the very special 500th episode, I take a look back at some of my favorite interviews of the Best You Podcast. I share short clips from 6 different past episodes with some of my favorite guests I've had on the show. The first guest is Derrick Billups, who was the guest on the very first episode of Best You and was one of the people who helped me get started as a fitness trainer in Nashville. Next is Chris Fowler, who was the host of College GameDay, a show that I grew up watching and loving. Then you'll hear from DeMarco Murray, who was offensive player of the year in the NFL and I worked for him at Tilt Cycle.Next is Dr. Melissa Davis, one of the top experts on health and fitness optimization at Renaissance Periodization. Next you'll hear from Ellen Latham, the founder of Orange Theory fitness where I coached for my first 7 years in the fitness industry. Finally, you'll hear from Chris McChesney, the author of the book, The Four Disciplines of Execution, which inspired me to create the 10-Week Transformation.Check out the episode to learn more about how to hustle with intention, how Chris Fowler started and grew College GameDay to what it is today, how to become the best NFL running back in the entire league, how to optimize your health, how Ellen Latham went from starting Orange Theory Fitness to growing it to over 1 million members, and how to execute on your wildly important goal and so much more._____________________________In this episode: 05:35 How to Hustle with Intention with Derrick Billups11:07 How Chris Fowler started and grew College GameDay to what it is today 18:30 How to become the best NFL running back in the entire league with DeMarco Murray25:24 How to optimize your health through building habits with Dr. Melissa Davis 30:18 How Ellen Latham went from starting Orange Theory Fitness to growing it to over 1 million members 34:18 How to execute on your wildly important goal with Chris Fowler ____________________________FREE COURSE - 3 Steps to Losing Body Fat and Building MuscleSign Up for FREE at https://www.nickcarrier.com Today!____________________________Build Healthy Habits That Will TRANSFORM Your Body and Your Life!LEARN MORE About The 10WT Today at https://www.nickcarrier.com/10wt ____________________________Follow Nick on Instagram: @carrier_bestyou
