Editors - Todd Downing ACE and Amelia Allwarden ACE OVERCOMPENSATING editors Todd and Amelia often leaned on each other for perspective throughout the post process. As Todd recounted, "You lose perspective, but there are other jokes that you always, always laugh at, and then you know it's a gem." Editing comedy, as Amelia noted, involves understanding the micro-timing of jokes — knowing precisely when to cut away or linger, to maximize comedic impact. Todd echoes this sentiment, explaining that edits can drastically influence the pacing and timing essential for landing a joke. Ultimately, the collaborative dynamic between the two allowed them to strike a balance between comedy and the series' more serious undertones. OVERCOMPENSATING tells the story of Benny, a former high school football star and valedictorian from Idaho, as he begins his freshman year of college at the fictional Yates University, where his sister Grace is a junior. He is closeted and masks his true identity by aping the machismo of his male peers, particularly that of Peter, Grace's jock boyfriend. On his first day on campus, Benny befriends Carmen, a freshman from New Jersey who was an outsider in high school. Together, Benny and Carmen navigate their first year of college, which includes new relationships, pledging the college's secret society, and figuring out their true selves. Chris and Chris tackle a bunch of different things. Hogan played for new wide receivers coach Todd Downing, and he takes a look at how he might handle New England's pass catchers. Plus, the guys break down some of the other coaching changes, Hogan recalls some favorite Super Bowl memories, and more.
Greg Bedard and Nick Cattles discuss the Patriots coaching staff as it nears completion, and Greg provides some new information on the hires being made and the process behind them. After he broke the story about Todd Downing being selected as the new wide receivers coach this morning, Greg elaborates that the process was all up to Josh McDaniels, as he's been given full authority by Vrabel to hire who he wants. Next, he provides clarification on the relationship between Vrabel and McDaniels, and says that Robert Kraft had VERY LITTLE to do with Josh's hiring. The NBA trade deadline is unrivaled, Patriots hire Todd Downing as Wide Receivers coach. Jones and Keefe begin their week of Super Bowl prop bet predictions.
Jerry returns for his final update of the day and starts with the sounds of some Yankee players talking about the World Series starting tonight. Todd Downing talked about getting through the interception issues Aaron Rodgers has had lately. Skip Bayless talked to us about his colonoscopy. The Moment of The Day: A fired up Adam Schein sounds like he's underwater as he's pumped for Yankees/Dodgers.
It feels like we have been waiting forever for this World Series to get underway and we got the two best teams in baseball. We expect all sorts of offensive fireworks and high scoring games in this series. Gerrit Cole needs to shut down this lineup as long as he can tonight. Bleacher Creature Matt calls in and is not happy that they are being priced out. In the final segment of the week, our NFL Picks! (we have been terrible).
Hour 1 We are fired up for game 1 of the World Series tonight. This is going to be an offensive series for sure. Gerrit Cole is paid to be the best pitcher in baseball. This is why he's here, for this very game. Will the Yankees be able to score as many runs as the Dodgers? Aaron Judge needs to be Aaron Judge. Boomer said the Yankees need 6 full innings from Cole. Jerry is here for his first update of the day and starts with the sounds of some Yankees players talking about playing in the World Series. Boomer predicted, ‘Ohtani goes yard in his first at bat'. The Rams beat the Vikings and Jerry has the sound as Matthew Stafford threw 4 TDs. There was a facemask in the endzone that was not called and that sealed the win for the Rams. In the final segment of the hour, a caller said Boomer is sounding like he wants the Yankees to lose. Boomer said Yankees fans are so sensitive. Hour 2 The only outcome that would surprise Gio in this World Series would be a Yankees sweep. Gio said Dodgers in six. The Dodgers will be wearing a Fernando Valenzuela patch. Boomer said it's going to be high scoring, close games with lots of home runs. We took a bunch of calls from Yankees fans and one woman who listens to Boomer's sports minutes in the shower. Jerry returns for an update and starts with the sounds of Adam Schein getting ready for the World Series. Jerry has audio of Anthony Volpe as a high school kid saying he wanted to one day play for the Yankees. The Rams beat the Vikings as Matthew Stafford threw 4 TDs. Nikki Glaser had another roast after the game and it's just not working because it feels very forced. Cap in the digital department put together a Boomer A-I rap that was pretty good. In the final segment of the hour, Boomer said we should be talking about the new Mr. October, Giancarlo Stanton. Boomer said the Yankees better not walk a lot of hitters and need to be smart when on the basepaths. Hour 3 Eddie is not here today because he's working the cash register at a yarn event for his wife. We talked about some dark horse candidates for World Series MVP for the Yankees. We talked more about the non-call facemask on Sam Darnold for a safety that sealed the win for the Rams. Jerry returns for an update but first Boomer tells us it's Juan Soto's 26th birthday. Jerry has audio from some of the players as they look forward to game 1 of the World Series tonight. Judge was asked if he talked to Soto about free agency. Cole was asked the same thing. The Rams beat the Vikings as Matthew Stafford threw 4 TDs. Charles Barkley has had it with Joel Embiid resting. Shaq was on the Angel Reese podcast and they talked about WNBA salaries. He thinks they need to lower the rim for dunking. In the final segment of the hour, we talked about our terrible records for NFL picks. We also talked about the Jets and the Patriots and if the Patriots will play tough this week because they were called out by their head coach. Hour 4 It feels like we have been waiting forever for this World Series to get underway and we got the two best teams in baseball. We expect all sorts of offensive fireworks and high scoring games in this series. Gerrit Cole needs to shut down this lineup as long as he can tonight. Bleacher Creature Matt calls in and is not happy that they are being priced out. Jerry returns for his final update of the day and starts with the sounds of some Yankee players talking about the World Series starting tonight. Todd Downing talked about getting through the interception issues Aaron Rodgers has had lately. Skip Bayless talked to us about his colonoscopy. The Detroit Tigers went on an incredible run in the middle of August and now they are a step closer to the ALCS. Boomer went over the Mets pitching staff for the playoffs. They are the best in baseball right now. The Mets also have a handful of players that came out of nowhere to be huge for the team like Mark Vientos and Jose Iglesias. A caller said this Mets magic wouldn't have happened if Jeff McNeil didn't get hurt. Jerry returns for an update and starts with the sounds of John Sterling as the Yankees beat the Royals. Todd Downing will call the plays for the Jets after Jeff Ulbrich took that away from Nathaniel Hackett. Haason Reddick was dropped by his agents. The Niners beat the Seahawks on TNF. In the final segment of the hour, ‘Lieutenant Dan', of Hurricane Milton fame, actually has a long rap sheep. He was like a folk hero for not wanting to leave during the hurricane, but now, after finding out he has a history of violent crimes, people don't like him.
Hour 1 The Yankees have advanced to the ALCS and we are closer to a subway series. Both the Yankees and Mets await their opponents. The Yankees are right where they were expected to be. The Yankees/Royals series was a little boring because we expected the Yankees to win, and they did. Jerry is here for his first update of the day but first a caller said that Boomer was sort of attacking Gio in the first segment of the show. Jerry starts with the sounds of the Yankees beating the Royals. Gerrit Cole talked after the game after ‘a couple IPAs'. Jazz Chisholm loves being booed in the opposing parks. Jeff Ulbrich met the media and is taking play calling duties out of the hands of Nathaniel Hackett. The Niners beat the Seahawks in Seattle last night. In the final segment of the hour, Gio said Nathaniel Hackett has to be the stone worst coach employed in the NFL. He got demoted 5 games into Aaron Rodgers quarterbacking the Jets. Why is Aaron Rodgers getting a pass for this brutal offense? Hour 2 The Detroit Tigers went on an incredible run in the middle of August and now they are a step closer to the ALCS. Boomer went over the Mets pitching staff for the playoffs. They are the best in baseball right now. The Mets also have a handful of players that came out of nowhere to be huge for the team like Mark Vientos and Jose Iglesias. Hour 3 As a Mets fan, who would you rather play, the Dodgers or Padres? Boomer loves the stadium in San Diego and would consider morning there, ‘if it wasn't in California'. We talked about doing the show in San Diego if it's the Padres and talked about the time Joe, Evan and Gio all shared a hotel room when they went out to L.A. for a Dodgers series. Jerry returns for an update and starts with the sounds of the Yankees beating the Royals and some sound from the postgame celebration. Jeff Ulbrich is the new head coach and Nathaniel Hackett is no longer calling plays. The Niners beat the Seahawks on TNF. Geno Smith talked about the team starting 3-0 and now falling to 3-3. Dak Prescott met the media and thought it was crazy how much coverage the demolition of his house got. He was not happy. In the final segment of the hour, Malik Nabers is still dealing with his concussion and likely won't play Sunday night against the Bengals. He was at a Travis Scott concert and Gio wonders if that's a big deal or not. Boomer said it's a big deal because of the noise and the lights at a concert and the effect of that on a concussion. Boomer seems to think he's playing this week if he went to a concert. If he doesn't play, then going to the concert is a big deal. Thursday Night Football once again had the teams putting up a lot of points and a lot of guys got injured. Hour 4 The Giants play the Bengals on Sunday night and the Bengals are the second worst defense in the league. But Daniel Jones hasn't thrown a TD in 4 straight home games. That is a crazy stat. And Prime Time Daniel Jones has not been good. But if the Bengals lose, their season is essentially over. A caller doesn't want Jeff McNeil on the roster because of how well the Mets have been playing. Boomer said they are only getting him ready in case somebody gets hurt. Jerry returns for his final update of the week and has all the sounds from John Sterling as the Yankees beat the Royals. Gerrit Cole celebrated with IPAs after the ga ...

Taking your calls and texts on Will Levis and the Titans.
