Here's the only song I won a Grammy Award for. Written by Andrae' Crouch and recorded for “My Tribute” a compilation project in his honor. I would sing it only one time ‘live' … at his memorial service several years later.
Bishop Wm. Morris O'Neile and the Voices of Universal's impassioned version of “My Tribute (to God be the Glory)” is the definitive interpretation of this classic.
Enjoy highlights from Larry Mahan's beautiful rendition of this wonderful song by Andrea Crouch.

•Andrae Edward Crouch born in San Francisco, CA in 1942. He was a trailblazer no doubt with his rhythmic sounds and modern pop beats singing about God and all of His Good News. Andrae started as a teen writing songs and moving audiences to the edge of gospel music (during that time.) •His best-known group was The Disciples who put such songs in our ears like “Soon and Very Soon”, “My Tribute”, “Take Me Back”, and so many others. With his edgy sounds he made waves in the music industry questioning was it really gospel music he was writing and singing? On this episode I'll share information researched and of what some magazine writers said about this multi award winner Rev. Mr. Andrae Crouch. If you have any questions or comments about this episode, please send an email to: letstalk2gmg@gmail.com

Song title: Through It AllSong by: Andrea CrouchKeyboard Music and Vocals by: Gail NoblesPhoto Credit: Vince Allen Carter/Wikipedia.orgUsage: CC BY-SA 4.0https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Andraé_Crouch_with_Internet_Radio_DJ_Vincent_Allen.jpgAndrae Crouch was a gospel singer, songwriter, arranger, record producer and pastor. In the 1980's and 1990s, he was known as the “go to” producer for superstars who sought a gospel choir sound in their recordings, appearing on a number of recordings including Michael Jackson's “Man in the Mirror”, Madonna's “Like a Prayer”, and “The Power”, a duet between Elton John and Little Richard. He even collaborated on some of his recordings with artists, such as Stevie Wonder, El Debarge, and Sheila E just to name a few. The most popular songs by Andrea Crouch with his group The Disciples are “The Blood Will Never Loose it's Power”. “Bless His Holy Name”, “Soon and Very Soon, “Jesus is the Answer”, “My Tribute”, and “Through It All”. After The Disciples in 1979, Crouch continued on with a solo career. Let's talk about Andrae's song through it all and what inspired him to write it. Andrae said, “I got message, and it was from a little guy name Albi Pearson. He said, Andrae, the Lord told me that you're going through something.”The message that Albi Pearson gave inspired Andrae to write his song. The more I live and the more I learn, I understand and feel the lyrics of Andrae's song, “Through It All”. Through It All! I've learned to trust in Jesus. I've learned to trust in God.Andrae Crouch left us, but he left us with great memories of music. I'm your host Gail Nobles, and you're listening to a show about The Gospel Greats.

SPOKEN WORD WITH ELECTRONICS #19: Odd Times, Loud Noises Hi everyone, welcome back to the show. Pictured in the Boing Boing post week is my studio, or the main corner of it. A lot of wonderful noise makers in the room, and the stress of this year has finally started to hit me. A room of equipment like this is very good for moments like this. So this week is about making as loud a noise as possible. Jump in for a fun ride as we turn the studio into the tornado of sound, with leading contributions from Metasonix, Soma Labs Lyra-8 and Pulsar 23, Moog, and Dave Smith and Tom Oberheim's collaboration, the OB-6. Lead vocals by the Landscape HC-TT, a manually controlled tape player. I purposely decided to make these beautiful instruments into as noisy and obnoxious a set of sounds as possible. I think you'll enjoy the stress relieving sound of a thousand oscillators out of tune with one another, going off like 700 springs clanging out of a mattress. Or at least that was the working idea. Really, just a head-cleaner. I call it: My Tribute to July, 2020. Thanks as always, and be well. Stay proud and keep it loud! - EP

Rebroadcast of the 9 Month Anniversary of the passing of the God-Father of Contemporary Christian Gospel Music, my friend, Andrae Crouch. Join Dave, The Caregiver's Caregiver, (and former FB Admin. to Andrae' Couch) this Wed, 10/28/15, Noon PDT, (and anytime afterwards, 24/7, on recorded podcast at the same link) as he speaks with Andrae's closest friends and family to share funny "Andrae' stories" and the good times we all had with him celebrating his zest for life.. Those who knew him well are missing his beautiful spirit, and his huge fan base will definitely be missing his timeless new anointed songs and arrangements! Andrae' Crouch, The God Father of Contemporary Gospel Music, died at age 72, 9 months ago, & is survived by his twin sister, Sandra. Andrae' was an innovator, a path-finder, a precursor in an industry noted for its conservative, often derivative approach to popular music. He combined gospel and rock, flavored it with jazz and calypso as the mood struck him and the song called for it, and is even one of the founders of what is now called “praise and worship” music. He took risks with his art and was very, very funky when he wanted to be. When Michael Jackson or Madonna or Quincy Jones needed a gospel song or a gospel chorus, they called Andrae. That’s his music on the soundtrack to The Color Purple (where he earned an Oscar nomination), the Broadway musical The Lion King, and the pop songs “Man in the Middle” and “Like a Prayer.” His first gospel group included Billy Preston, & even Elvis recorded one of his songs.
