He's got an amazing record of unmatched excellence as a Global Luxury Ambassador.member of the National Association of Realtors. An expansive knowledge of commercial properties and boutique hospitality markets throughout Central America. So what would you say really stands out to you about what makes your town so special, that our friends across North America and around the world may not be aware of? Actually my wife is a Costa Rican. She's from a large town called San Isidro, which is about 30 minutes away from Dominical. The name of the area has been changed to the Ballena Coastline. That includes Uvita, Dominical all the way down to Ojochal. This amazing beautiful coastline that is attached by a road that goes all along the coast. You've got these great little towns. You've got great beaches. It's an area where the whales come and breed every year. We've got great scuba diving, phenomenal little restaurants and you can really be at the beach at one day in the morning and then you can drive within 30 minutes and be at one of the highest peaks in Costa Rica or about an hour and you can be at five amazing waterfalls in Costa Rica. And then you can be at the highest peak which is called Mount Chirripó, Costa Rica. So you can really go from beachfront all the way up to five thousand feet or even higher to an amazing area which is just beautiful. If you want to be at the beach and hot or you want to get up the mountains become cool. The small town of Dominical itself has grown at a very slow pace over the last couple of years. I've been here about 21 years now and it is continuing to grow at a pace that's comfortable for everybody. You've got new restaurants coming in, but it's still a small town. It's a very Bohemian small feeling. It's got a great farmers market every Friday which is amazing. They have music and vegetables and everything you can imagine. We've also got a great organic store, which we call our Whole Foods. And then you've got the array of different kinds like Indian food. Great surf. There's great mountain biking. There's great dirt biking. It's a phenomenal place to come for paragliders. At any given night you're not just going to the town of Dominical. You go 30 kilometers north of us you've got Manuel Antonio, which is amazing national park, the marina, another array of great restaurants, things going on. And to the south of us we have Ojochal, Uvita which has all the beaches and everything, and restaurants as well. There's just so much to do in a small area. And then within two hours south of us you have the whole Osa Peninsula which opens up to you, Pavones, Montopalos, Golfito, another large marina project there. So we're kind of that in between, you know you've got the Golfito Marina the Manuel Antonio Marina and then you've got Jaco which is about two hours north of us now. In that stretch is kind of consider us like the little French Riviera you've got where the mountains come down to the ocean and then they get real steep. You get amazing views that great jungle atmosphere which you would think of Costa Rica and it's just a beautiful place to be. A good friend of mine speaking of Uvita, he moved here from California, Navy Veteran and he had a great experience using your Coldwell Banker office to purchase his house. He's got a great things to say about you guys and what you could do and. I come from California myself. Did my undergrad at University of Santa Cruz, and we used to love to see the whales and the wildlife out there. It's an amazing adventure.

Welcome back to On My Own Dime! This is part 2 of my talk with Adventure Photographer & Machinery Technician Mark Landsfeld. We are going to unpack more details on his trip across the National Parklands and share some stories about our adventures mountain biking the east bay, and surfing Pavones which is the second-largest left-hand break in the world (located in Costa Rica). We talk about the similarities between Ansel Adams's "pure" approach to photography and Phil Specter’s “Wall of Sound” approach to music production. We talk about putting your art in a box, defining it in a single category, and finally, the effect that Mark’s active duty career has had on his photography.

Welcome back! This year I've got some phenomenal guests coming on the show. In today's episode I wanted to share the story of Sheridan Lathe, aka Sheddy. Sheddy is from Australia. She is what you could call a wild or an adventure vet as she has been travelling the world saving wild animals in refuges and sanctuaries. I was blown away by her story. First of all, she had the guts to sell up all her belongings in Australia and move onto a sailboat called Chuffed in Panama. She has spent the last 2 years, saving some of the weirdest and cutest animals in Central America and learning on her own how to repair and keep her boat afloat. Lately she rediscovered surfing in the bucket list spot of Pavones Costa Rica. You could say that Sheddy is definitely creating her dream job on the go. If there is anything to take from this episode, its the fact that if you're prepared to live simply, anything's possible. In our conversation, I ask Sheddy how she actually made it to Panama and what it takes to build a veterinary clinic on a boat. We go into the nitty gritty of finding and owning a boat with the technicalities of living as an expat in the different places she has sailed to. We explore the kind of procedures she undertakes as a vet and how her passion for animals has enabled her to create a nomadic lifestyle that mixes volunteer work, vlogging and surfing! You'll also learn what you need to be good at, at school if you want to become a vet. I am in awe of Sheddy's courage to sell everything to live on a boat mainly because I have dreamed about doing the same thing but haven't. For those of you who would be interested in a similar adventure, Chuffed "only" cost them 25K$ to buy, but bear in mind that there are constant repairs to do all year long. Actually Sheddy told me that Chuffed now has a leak when she turns the engine on so she has to sail it up to Mexico to get some serious repairs done. So if you fancy contributing to her repairs, there's a link here. I am in awe with Sheddy's bravery, especially as she is now keeping the dream alive all on her own. To catch up with Sheddy and her vet adventures, how she's doing in the boat repair section and to watch her surf, you can connect to her Youtube channel : Vet Tails' Sailing Chuffed. Alternatively you can find her on Instagram, Facebook, Linkedin and on www.vettails.com her blog. For donations, you can become a patron on Patreon.com All donations go to the veterinary equipment, they fund trips to the animal sanctuaries and cover the general fees of running a clinic from a sailboat. Donations also help keep chuffed afloat.
