Dr Sam Willis discusses the infamous Hermione mutiny of 1797 with the naval historian Angus Konstam. In 1797 the British frigate HMS Hermione was serving on the Jamaica Station during the French Revolutionary war. Under the sadistic and mercurial Captain Hugh Pigot the ship became a floating hell as he flogged his men and ruled his ship through terror. When the men finally mutinied it became the bloodiest in the history of the Royal Navy. Pigot and his officers were hacked to death. The mutineers then took the ship to the Spanish main - and handed the ship over to the Spanish. The ship was then recaptured in 1799 in one of the most daring and brilliantly executed operations of the Age of Sail and the Admiralty launched a relentless and worldwide manhunt for the mutineers that lasted a decade. A quoi penses-tu ? A quoi penses-tu maintenant ?
This week I sit down with Deaton and talk about how a small band member in Ireland transformed into a coffee roaster in Los Angelos. We discover how the “flat white” came to be as well as the importance of relationships in business.
Deaton Pigot's coffee is so off-the-charts good that Broadway star, Chelsea Morgan Stock, left it all behind for him (and for the bright lights of Hollywood)! :) Well, it wasn't that simple, but they did get hitched and have been inseparable in both life and coffee! A lot of love goes into their roasting company, TECTONIC COFFEE, which is why their coffee is so extraordinary and can be found in some of the best coffee shops around the country. Now, they're facing the pandemic together, and just like everyone else, are working to overcome the incredible challenges. But they're going above and beyond; bringing coffee and happiness to those who really need it - from giving it away, changing their business around and even hand delivering it when they have to! They tell us how they're doing it all while supporting themselves and others. Plus Myles and Jason discuss how everything is changing in life since the craziness has started - and how they are adjusting (or not)! And we ask what "simple luxury" YOU are missing? We tell you ours (spoiler: Jason really needs a haircut... really!!). Grab your cup of coffee and join us! www.tectoniccoffee.com Tectonic Cofffee roasts incredibly smooth, balanced and flavorful coffees. Now you can order directly from them at wholesale prices (whole beans AND ground - roasted to order!). Our next guest is the five-time NTT IndyCar Series champion who won at the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix for the second year in a row. It's Scott Dixon, who scored career victory No. 45 in Sunday's second race of the Detroit doubleheader. Dixon used a brilliant two stop pit strategy, that began when he pitted on Lap 15 to switch from Firestone Reds to Firestone Blacks. While he was in the pits, Sebastien Bourdais's Honda slammed into the back of Spencer Pigot's Chevrolet as Pigot was attempting to dive onto pit road. That closed the pit area and Dixon was able to get out and take the lead when the other competitors pitted. After that, the IndyCar Series legend was able to hold off several late race restarts, including one after a Red Flag for rookie teammate Felix Rosenqvist's crash in Turn 1, to win the race. He defeated rookie Marcus Ericsson, who scored the highest finish of his IndyCar career. RACEDAY's Bruce Martin caught up with Dixon after he won the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix to talk about that and other topics on today's Honda IndyCar Report.

Andre Harrison is back, and ready to rumble for Episode 83! In it, we review a rather madcap IndyCar Grand Prix of Alabama which was one by Josef Newgarden for the second time in three years, and his first win for Team Penske, even if it was at the expense of Will Power's slow puncture. That and a whole lot more involving RHR in the wars, Scott Dixon's 7th Barber podium without a win, and Pigot getting the commentators curse, as Fernando Alonso came to town! We also go through a lot of news, including the latest F1 Strategy Group and the death of the "Halo", the odds that Sauber could be switching to Honda power, another F1 race in New York (Yes, again), and the sad news regarding Billy Monger and the retirement of Dale Jr. in NASCAR! Thanks for listening!
