The love of dance and glitter bonds an unlikely group of 60-plus women in Southwest Florida – the CALENDAR GIRLS. But under the veil of fake lashes and unicorn horns lurks the deeper truths of what aging women face within society. Sisterhood, love, loss – all come into play in this uplifting film about trying to age on your own terms and refusal to become invisible. Directors Maria Loohufvud and Love Martinsen craft a life-affirming, feel-good documentary that shakes up the outdated image of what it means to be an “old lady”. It's a call for everyone to dance their heart out, while you still can. Directed and produced by Maria Loohufvud and Love Martinsen, CALENDAR GIRLS has screened at over 40 film festivals including 2022 Sundance Film Festival while bringing joy to all who watch the film. It has also won numerous awards during its festival run. Co-directors Maria Loohufvud and Love Martinsen stop by to talk about this lyrical look at women that are determined to face down agism, sexism and thrilled to live their lives while relishing the opportunity to entertain, young and old. For more go to: calendargirlsfilm.com Released through Pink Dolphin, the film will open at the Laemmle Town Center Encino in Los Angeles on Nov 18.

In this episode I talk with Suzanne Smith - Founder and Executive Director of the Amazon River Dolphin Conservation Foundation (ARDCF). Amazon River Dolphin Conservation Foundation (ARDCF), a registered 501c3, supports local efforts to protect a storied species and its rainforest ecosystem. Building upon the wisdom of Amazon traditions, practices and beliefs with findings from modern conservation biology, ARDCF works to preserve the river dolphin from the corrosive pressures of outside, usually foreign interests that threaten the survival of the dolphins and their world. The fates of dolphins and people have been entwined for millennia. ARDCF promotes healthy, natural interactions between dolphins and people that protect both animals and people, sustain local culture, and transform visitors to ardent Amazon conservationists.

Host Frankie Picasso had the pleasure of interviewing  two incredible Conservationists who have dedicated their lives to saving endangered species, Dr. Greg Rasmussen and Dr. Enzo Aliaga Rossel,  on FrankieSense & More! The Painted Dog has roamed the earth for millions of years. They lived throughout Sub-Saharan Africa. Less than 100 years ago, they were about 500,000 strong. Today less than 5000 remain and their very existence is threatened forever. The Pink Dolphin is a fresh water RIVER dolphin living in the Rivers of Bolivia. This amazing mammal is threatened by civilization, the debris from building and sediment that clogs the rivers that hold them hostage. Both of these incredible creatures have a champion. For 25 years, Dr. Greg Rasmussen has studied and lived among the Painted Dog. For 12 years, Dr. Enzo Aliaga Rossel has been the lone voice advocate to keep the pink dolphin not just as a treasured icon of Bolivia but a ALIVE too! Both scientists have their respective projects featured on the website of an organization called Endangered Species or ES REVENGE ES Revenge, was founded and is run by it's President Peter Gottesman, who felt strongly that bringing humor to wildlife conservation would attract millions of people to join the fight to save animals. The organization creates cute videos like the one's below that make people laugh while teaching them about animal biology and behavior, and it seems to be working.Their goal is to partner with leading conservation scientists to raise money for urgent projects that protect endangered animals and help local people economically and specifically seek out  scientists who lead small to medium-sized grassroots non-profits, which spend nearly all their money on fieldwork, with little overhead, like my Two guests today. Both are featured on ES REVENGE... Dr. Rasmussen and Dr.  Aliaga RosselGo to https:thegoodradionework to find out more about these two scientists.  video=https://youtu.be/PF3925UCYuc

After a long break while Jonathan decompressed from a life-transforming experience with Martin W. Ball, in Ashland Oregon at the 3rd Annual Exploring Psychedelics Conference, We are BACK with another episode of the Psychedelic Parenting Podcast! This week's show is the 1st half of a 2-part interview with Zoe Helene of Amherst, MA. Today's show was recorded over a couple days last week, on 4/20 and Earth Day with Zoe Helene. Zoe is the founder of Cosmic Sister, which is dedicated to recognizing and elevating feminist voices in the growing Psychedelic Renaissance, and to supporting visionary women in the exploding world of Cannabis business and studies. Zoe is also the wife and partner of ethnobotanist and writer Chris Kilham, and is the manager of the web presence for his site The Medicine Hunter, and has accompanied Chris on many trips to the Amazon and elsewhere, looking for healing plants and soul-transforming experiences. Zoe is an artist, writer, journalist, and visionary explorer in her own right, and has been featured in Boston Magazine, Forbes, Boston Globe, AlterNet, Chicago Tribune, Newsday, MIT Technology Review, Utne Reader and Fast Company. In this episode, Jonathan and Zoe discuss the art of "Psychedelic Mentoring"as an important part of the emerging plant medicine culture in this country, and how even those without their own kids have an important job to do in raising the future members of the Psychedelic Society. They talk about the "Faerie Goddessmothers" who were instrumental in Zoe's life, and how she has embraced her role as "Psychedelic Faerie Goddessmother" to the children of her friends and siblings.  Zoe also discusses Earth day and how her Ayahuasca experiences in the Amazon have galvanized her as an environmentalist and animal-rights activitst, and her view that "a baby is a baby," whether they be human animals or non-human animals. She also discusses her deep relationship to the Maui's dolphin of New Zealand, which is currently on the verge of extinction. If you weren't able to make it to Ashland for Exploring Psychedelics this year, Martin Ball will be releasing Jonathan's presentation from that event on The Entheogenic Evolution Podcast in the coming weeks. We will inform you when it goes live. In the meantime, you can check out Jonathan's presentation on Prezi by CLICKING HERE. Tune in next week Wednesday (5/4/2016) for the second 1/2 of Jonathan's interview with Zoe, when we'll be back on track for our weekly Wednesday podcast releases.
