A jaunty and frolicking discussion of brownies and things to learn from them, Zach shares his learnings on becoming the "best brownie baker in the family". Along the way, we learn that: if you want frosting on your brownies, then go eat cake; if you put too much stuff in the brownies, you might as well just eat a kitchen sink cookie; make sure you give time to the stuff you care about. In general, the lessons are:1. Learn how to do something so you can get a success;2. Experiment with that and be willing to fail; 3. Figure out why your experiment produces failure; 4. Surround yourself with people who are better at the thing that you do so you can get better at that thing and thus bring you Joy.And always remember that you were a rookie once too.

In today's episode, I'm chatting with Sydney-based artist and surface designer Maggi McDonald. Known for her bold use of color and signature palette knife style, Maggi has always been creative. But it wasn't until her son started pre-school and she confronted a period of depression after suffering miscarriages, that Maggi discovered the healing power of art and she decided to study design. During her studies, Maggi discovered that painting was calling her and since that time she's built a global art and surface pattern design business. During this conversation, Maggi and I discovered that we share many parallels in our art journeys. She is incredibly generous in sharing her journey and so many great tips for emerging artists in this beautiful conversation. I really hope enjoy the episode. In this episode, we talked about: Maggi's form of art How did Maggi discover her love for painting Does living in different countries impacted Maggi's creative evolution? “What worked yesterday doesn't always work today.” - Elizabeth Gilbert Social media is always evolving, and sometimes the tried and true strategies from just a year or two ago don't work anymore on the big social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok. To get real engagement on social media today, you need to invest real time - and potentially real dollars. So, that begs the question, is it time to get off social media if you don't have the resources to do it well?In this episode of the DrMarketingTips Show, Jennifer and Corey share what they see every day with medical practices as the social media industry continues to shift and offer a few tips to help you continue to create social media content that engages and converts.

Docs Outside The Box - Ordinary Doctors Doing Extraordinary Things
What’s good everyone, New series!!! Sometimes you have to meet doctors where they’re at. It takes a lot to get on a podcast and be 100% honest about how your practice and put your name on it. So, I’ve started a series where I interview doctors who have important stories for us to learn from – they just would rather stay anonymous. I don’t have a problem with it, and neither should you. Information is power, and we got a ways to learn before we can say we’re in the driver’s seat with healthcare. My very first guest is a physician who trained at one of the finest medical institutions in world and decided to join a private practice. He lets us in to what it was like for a hedge fund / venture capitalist firm to purchase his group and the drastic effects it had afterwards. Doc keeps it real on this episode. He also talked about: Making hard decisions between happiness and the almighty dollar His attending’s thoughts on locum tenens What does being a partner mean in private practice The warning signs we all need to pay attention to when in practice. The episode is brought to you by PatientPop. Check them out at www.patientpop.com

Get our free IELTS video training now Usually English textbooks tell you to talk about the future using ‘will’ and ‘going to’. How do you clarify information in English? Have you ever met someone on the phone or the internet before you met them in person? Today, Lindsay and Michelle discuss tag questions, and how they can help you confirm what you think you know, but aren’t sure about! Come back our site for more tips A tag question helps you to confirm a piece of information that you think is true, but that you want to clarify. Though they are used as a tool for clarity, they can also be a great way to create conversations. Tag questions tend to begin with the statement to be clarified, and then end with the question. There are many possible combinations. Some common examples of tag questions include: “You’re from Washington, aren’t you?” “You used to live in New York, didn’t you?” “He can play the piano, can’t he?” “Her birthday is in July, right?” Are You Ready to Practice? How do you get a job in the United States? What do employers want and expect? Today, Lindsay and Kristy talk about 3 things an employer in the U.S. might look for in a job candidate! Taking IELTS? Get our free IELTS video training course now If you’re applying for a job, it’s important to know what your potential employer is looking for. Like any other country, the U.S. has a professional culture which places more value on some individual qualities than others. Some qualities American employers seek in employees: Proactive attitude: Show that you are autonomous and energetic – the opposite of passive. It means to show up early, confirm the time you will meet, and say thank you. Positive attitude: Americans like smiles. But it’s also important that you get along with others and not be pessimistic. Communication: When you actively communicate it shows you are engaged. A big part of this is simply that you let the boss know what is going on. Be a “Giver”: Show that you believe in the vision of the company and are personally invested in its success. In other words, it’s more than a job to you. Are these the same traits that employers look for in your country? Do you have them? Let us know in the comments section below!
Want to improve your English conversation? Learn from a tennis pro! What can it teach us? Today, Lindsay and Kristy talk about what they've learned about language learning from tennis lessons! Taking IELTS? Get our free IELTS video training course now In tennis, as in many other sports, it’s critical that you persist. You have to keep trying. You have to show up for practice, and be consistent. Mental toughness is also important. You want to have the upper hand and be offensive, rather than defensive. When learning a new language, sometimes we get stuck on a negative thought or an embarrassment. This can lead us to lose the upper hand, and our confidence. But when we sound good, we feel more in control. The point is to practice, and to try to keep the ball in your court. Stay in the game and take a deep breath! Are You Ready to Practice? Come back to our website for more When you’re talking about the future in English, should you use “will” or “going to”? Today, in #6 of the Top 15 Fixes, we discuss the correct way to tell others what you want to do, whether in the immediate future or many years from now! "Will" and "going to" are interchangeable in meaning, but native English speakers tend to use them for slightly different purposes. Will is often used in the context of a big plan or dream, often in the far future: I will get married, eventually. “Someday, people will live on Mars.” However, Will can also be used if you have just spontaneously made a decision, at this very moment, or for promises: “Maybe I will go out to lunch.” “I will always love you.” Going to is used for more specific decisions about your immediate future: “I’m gonna (going to) go biking tomorrow.” “She’s going to call later tonight.” Are You Ready to Practice? Remember, there are exceptions, and native speakers can be inconsistent. The best way to learn is to get out and hear native English speakers, and use the language the way you hear it spoken. What does it mean when you "invite" someone out for dinner or for lunch? The verb "invite" just means to extend an invitation to someone to go out and do something together. It does NOT mean that you will pay for the person's meal. Are you translating this verb and its meaning from your native language into English? A lot of people make this mistake! In English when we invite someone to dinner we aren't sure who is going to pay. If you do want to pay for someone you can say: "I've got this" "I got this" "Let me get this" "This one's on me" "I'll take this" "Don't worry about it.
