Your customers are changing because of AI. But so are you—whether you realize it or not. Host Dan Nestle welcomes back Mark Schaefer, whose new book How AI Changes Your Customers reveals a transformation most people aren't prepared for. As one of 300 futurists who contributed to Elon University's Being Human in 2035 study, Mark brings insights beyond the usual AI hype. Mark and Dan explore the psychological rewiring that is happening as AI reshapes human agency, empathy, purpose, and trust. They confront the choice everyone faces: use AI to augment your thinking, or delegate so much that critical skills atrophy. This isn't another "AI will save us" or "AI will ruin everything" conversation. It's a balanced look at implications most people haven't considered—like algorithms becoming decision-makers, with conversion rates from AI referrals 23 times higher than those from traditional SEO. Listen in and hear about... The psychology of AI and how humanity is being rewired Choosing between augmentation and delegation in your AI usage Why algorithms are becoming your actual customers The loss of agency, empathy, and purpose when we depend too heavily on AI How AI reveals patterns you didn't know existed through intellectual archaeology Notable Quotes On The Psychology of AI: "No one's talking about the psychology of AI that literally before our eyes, humanity is being rewired. The psychology of human beings is changing." - Mark Schaefer [00:08:13 → 00:08:28] On Attention Spans: "Don't tell me people don't have a long attention span. The problem is they're being more selective. You've got to earn it. So it's not that they have a short attention span. You, You've got a short interesting span. They're abandoning you for something else." - Mark Schaefer [00:15:38 → 00:15:53] On The Power of Vulnerability: "What this world is lacking is a real human voice, friendly, accessible, vulnerable. And think about the power of that. To really be human. You've got to be. Have a sense of vulnerability. But we don't get that from brand voices. Very, very rarely. And think of the opportunity to stand out, to be audacious, to just by flubbing up once in a while, just by admitting you made a mistake every once in a while." - Mark Schaefer [00:27:37 → 00:28:05] Resources and Links Dan Nestle Inquisitive Communications | Website The Trending Communicator | Website Communications Trends from Trending Communicators | Dan Nestle's Substack Dan Nestle | LinkedIn Mark Schaefer Mark Schaefer | Website and Blog How AI Changes Your Customers | Book (Amazon) The Marketing Companion | Podcast Mark Schaefer | LinkedIn The RISE Community | Apply to Join Timestamps 0:00:00 AI's Impact: Dan's Intro and Use of NotebookLM0:03:03 Mark's Reaction: AI Enables Bolder, Creative Work0:05:16 Mutual Mentorship and AI Experimentation0:07:29 Mark's Book: Humanity's Changing Psychology with AI0:09:12 Agency, Empathy, Intimacy, and AI Decision-Making0:11:41 AI Search: GEO, Marketing to Algorithms0:13:02 The Golden Age of PR: Credibility and Authority0:15:13 Attention Span Myth & Content Selectivity0:17:21 Volume vs. Quality: Content for AI and Humans0:19:35 Cumulative Advantage & Brand Authority in AI Era0:21:42 Personal Brand Building: Quality is Essential0:23:13 Earning Social Signals & Genuine Content0:25:47 AI Editing, Strategic Awkwardness, and Vulnerability0:28:46 Challenges for Corporates: Embracing Awkwardness0:31:20 Feelings as a Competitive Advantage0:35:28 Transcendence: Artful, Long-Form, and Human Content0:37:56 Respecting the Reader: Content Length & Value0:39:55 Hopeful AI: Augmentation, Mentorship, Markbot0:42:24 Real Education & AI: Preparing Young People0:42:46 Closing Remarks: Book Recommendation & Mark's Links (Notes co-created by Human Dan, Claude, and Castmagic) Learn more about your ad choices. Send us a textWhat if the bravest thing you could do for your child's education was to stop pushing and start listening to their nervous system? That's the pivot Paige Carter makes as she chooses unschooling to help her autistic son, Oaklan, recover from severe burnout - replacing schedules and demands with safety, curiosity, and radical patience. We dig into what autistic burnout really looks like at home: fragile tolerance, lost interests, and a body that reads every expectation as a threat. Paige traces the turning point from a small, supportive classroom to a mid-year intake that tipped the balance - more peers, more noise, more unpredictability - and why a quieter, specialist-informed environment makes all the difference. Along the way, “screen time” gets reframed as a lifeline. Minecraft, Star Wars, and deep-dives into animal facts become low-demand gateways to confidence, language, problem-solving, and calm. The difference between homeschooling and unschooling comes into focus too: one submits a curriculum; the other follows the child's capacity, catching learning in the cracks of real life.Paige also opens up about medication: risperidone's early wins, hard side effects, and the search for alternatives amid epilepsy management, MRI results, and halted assessments. Through it all, her daily non-negotiables- five pages of reading, ten minutes of journaling, mantras, a healthy lunch, and brief breathwork or a walk- model how carers stay grounded when days swing from peaceful to stormy in minutes. And there's advocacy in motion: a meeting with South Australia's Premier to press for small classes, trained staff, stable cohorts and policies that recognise autistic burnout as a genuine health event, not a behaviour problem. If you've ever wondered whether healing can come before homework - and still lead to real learning - this story offers a map and a measure of hope. What happens when the tests no longer reflect the education? In this episode, Davies Owens sits down with Sarah Novlan, Chief Academic Officer at Hill Country Christian School and a doctoral candidate studying the Harkness Seminar model, to explore why the once-revered AP program is falling short in today's classical Christian schools. Together, they unpack the misalignment between AP coursework and the mission of classical education, the challenges of teaching to a test, and the dumbing down of rigor and content, especially in the humanities. Sarah shares her own journey from AP instructor to advocate for better assessments and introduces CLT's new Enduring Courses, an emerging alternative that honors intellectual virtue, great books, and oral expression. If you've ever wondered whether AP or dual credit is still the right path - or what better options may be on the horizon - this conversation is a must.
Hey everyone! I'm Dr. Laura, and in this Truth Bombs episode, I'm pulling back the curtain on what chiropractors ACTUALLY study. Did you know our education covers everything from anatomy and physiology (how your body is built and works) to nutrition, neuroanatomy (your nervous system), and even pharmatoxicology (how drugs and toxins affect your body)? I've been noticing more healthcare providers talking about the body's natural ability to heal itself lately - but chiropractors have been studying this concept since 1895! We call it "innate intelligence," and it's basically your body's built-in wisdom to heal cuts, digest food, and keep you healthy. With 30 years in practice and seven credentials, I've seen firsthand how amazing this natural healing really is. Unfortunately, many people only think of chiropractors for pain relief, but we're trained SO much deeper than that. I want to change how you see our profession! Whether it's through nutrition, lab testing, or collaborating with other providers, we're here to help orchestrate your body's natural healing. Ready to explore chiropractic from a new perspective? On this episode of Unsupervised Learning, friend of the podcast, Charles Murray returns to chat with Razib again. Murray has been a public intellectual and scholar since the 1970's. He is the author of Losing Ground, The Bell Curve, Human Accomplishment, Real Education, Coming Apart and What it means to be a libertarian and Human Diversity, among others. Born in 1943 in Newton, Iowa, Murray has a BA from Harvard, an MA and PhD from MIT, and did a 1960's stint in the Peace Corps in Thailand. He has held positions at the American Institutions for Research, the Manhattan Institute and the American Enterprise Institute. More than four years after their last conversation, and seven years after his official retirement, Murray reflects with Razib on where he sees America going in the next decade, and what has surprised him about the last 25 years. Razib asks what it is like to be a long-standing “Never Trump conservative” and a libertarian in Trump's populist America. They also discuss the end of the “awokening” that began in the mid-2010s, and whether Murray's long exile from notice and acknowledgement from mainstream opinion-leaders and tastemakers is at an end. Murray also addresses the ideological fractures he sees on the right, and how America will deal with the last generation of mass immigration that has altered the US' demographic balance. They also discuss how taboo it still is to talk about group differences in cognitive performance, and whether America will be able to face the reality of demographics and the social consequences thereof in the 21st century.

In this episode, I dive into the fundamental flaws and real crisis of the educational system in the US. How can 54% of people, 17-74, only have a literacy rate of that of a Grade 6 student?? How can this be the most powerful, wealthy and industrious nation in the world with that as their foundation? Why would we NOT want to pour money into the future of our society? Is this the beginning of the end of an empire? Huge questions...painful answers...but necessary conversations.
The results of the 2022 midterm elections highlight that younger generations - both in their large numbers and participation in elections - are key to consistent success. The problem now confronted is that our educational system is dominated by those on one side of the political spectrum, who are determined to ensure that these young voters believe there is only one right idea, only one right opinion, and only one right candidate - the one the Left has preselected for them. We must address this indoctrination, along with the usurpation of power by those in power of our federal government, by increasing local and state participation, which is necessary to get the focus of our schools back on teaching students how to think, not what to think. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/solis-veritas/support

In the US, we think "freedom" is about choices. And, it partly is. But true freedom is about so much more. It's about being free from our engrained patterns of responses to the external world. From our sense of identity. Free to consistently explore, change and evolve who we are, without feeling tied to old thoughts, behaviours and beliefs. That can be easier said than done, but the groundwork to help us do so can be laid early on, during our education.I sit down with Wade Cavin, a dedicated and brilliant Waldorf Educator, to ask him what our education system is missing at its root, why that's important, how we might approach our education differently, for our children and for ourselves as adults, and why it might be beneficial to do so.He also speaks to why it's so important for humans of all ages to cultivate awareness of their intuition, imagination, their interests, and desires, because those are the signs that direct them on how to live their life. This was an incredibly enlightening conversation for me... even more so on the second listen as I was editing it. I hope you enjoy it. www.thisnakedvoice.com@thisnakedvoiceSupport the show

Tonight on Farage, as inflation increases but wages are not following this same trajectory, Nigel asks if it would be a better prospect for those on low wages to simply not work and receive benefits. And, as Dominic Raab yesterday unveiled the British Bill of Rights, will this package finally allow the UK to rid itself from the commitments of the European Court of Human Rights?Nigel talks with rapper Fumez The Engineer to debate whether or not drill music promotes voilence as the CPS decided that drill rap videos can be used as evidence in gang cases. Then, on Talking Pints, Nigel is joined by Campaign for Real Education chairman, Chris McGovern. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
The important thing about actually helping someone to learn is to meet them “Where they're at”, not to see that they come up to certain standards. Standards are based on controlling people. The way we get an education is not just memorizing a bunch of facts and formulas. The intelligence, understanding and perception of the student needs to be included. Here at the monastery no one is required to memorize anything. In order to train monks to teach the dharma, I say study, discuss the material, practice, and face the wall: train your mind. The important thing is to learn, not to understand in the conventional sense. If you would like these talks to continue, PLEASE VISIT OUR DONATE PAGE at sokukoji.org/donate

This one is heavy. A book and series that no one really talks about anymore, The Black Witch is full of concepts and ideas that will make you feel a certain way. In this week's episode, Kaylee and Jen do a deep dive into sex ed policy around the United States. First, Kaylee covers the variations of rules for sex ed content on a state-by-state level. Then, we go through the history of abstinence-only sex ed funding in the US, particularly looking at the Adolescent Family Life Act (AFLA), Title V of the Social Security Act, and Community Based Abstinence Education (CBAE). After covering these federal grants, Kaylee makes the case that abstinence-only sex education perpetuates systemic racism in the US. You can get involved to fight against systemic racism in sex education by asking your representatives to support the Real Education for Healthy Youth Act and the Youth Access to Sexual Health Services Act, or by donating to the Sexuality Information and Education Council of the US (SIECUS).
