Le parti du probable futur chancelier Friedrich Merz reproche à plusieurs associations d'avoir appelé à manifester contre lui, avant les élections, et cela avec l'argent des contribuables. Elles protestaient notamment contre les votes au Parlement qui avaient rassemblé les conservateurs et l'extrême droite. Mais ce projet a suscité un tollé. Les chrétiens démocrates allemands ont présenté un catalogue de plus de 500 questions au Bundestag pour savoir quelles associations reçoivent des fonds publics. Ils exigent des comptes à 16 organisations aussi connues que Greenpeace, Amnesty International et même Les Mamies contre l'extrême droite. Marianne a 72 ans. Elle milite depuis un an et demi pour ce mouvement présent dans quasiment tous les défilés pour la démocratie :« Ça a tout d'un acte de vengeance. Je crois que la CDU n'avait pas prévu les conséquences de son vote avec l'AfD au Bundestag, ni le niveau de protestation que cela allait susciter. En remettant en cause notre action, elle essaie d'intimider et de délégitimer les manifestations de protestation. »Pour cette grand-mère militante, historienne de profession, ces attaques contre son association sont infondées, et cela pour deux raisons : « Nous sommes une association non partisane et n'appartenons à aucun grand regroupement politique. Deuxièmement, nous ne recevons pas d'argent de l'État. »« Conservatisme radicalisé »En Allemagne, ce genre d'attaques contre les ONG et associations est d'habitude plutôt le fait de l'extrême droite. Que la droite conservatrice s'y mette est nouveau, et cela a suscité de très vives réactions. Cette politologue à l'université libre de Berlin y voit un parallèle avec ce qui se passe dans de nombreux autres pays :« Nous constatons, au sein de la CDU et surtout de la CSU bavaroise, un phénomène que nous pouvons observer dans d'autres pays. Chez les conservateurs britanniques, chez les républicains aux États-Unis, chez l' ÖVP, le parti populaire autrichien, c'est un conservatisme radicalisé. Cela consiste en une politique conservatrice qui se concentre très fort sur des sujets liés à la lutte culturelle et qui croit profiter d'attaques contre le wokisme de gauche, contre des minorités de gauche qui tyranniseraient la majorité. Nous rejouons ce qui se passe depuis quelques années aux États-Unis. Ce que nous voyons en Allemagne est une énorme augmentation de la polarisation affective, le rejet des militants des autres camps. »Cette affaire pourrait toutefois ne pas avoir de suites concrètes. Les sociaux-démocrates du SPD sont les seuls partenaires de coalition possible de la droite allemande et ils s'insurgent contre l'attitude de Friedrich Merz et de son parti. Ils ont posé comme précondition à tout début de négociation un arrêt des accusations envers la société civile. Friedrich Merz, le très probable futur chancelier, a d'ailleurs déjà adouci le ton.
