The measure, which passed by a vote of 314 to 108, angered conservative Republicans who opposed any continuing resolution to fund the government without concessions by the Democrats on border security and spending. The House Freedom Caucus made an eleventh-hour plea to House Speaker Mike Johnson to permit an amendment to the House’s border security package, which Johnson rejected. Freedom Caucus Chairman Bob Good slammed his fellow Republicans who supported the continuing resolution ahead of the vote. “The more things change, the more things stay the same,” he said in a floor speech. “We’re not even willing to risk a temporary pause in the 15 percent of the non-essential part of the government in order to force change in Washington,” he said. “No, we’re going to continue the status quo.” Good’s statements echoed an official position on the measure released by the Freedom Caucus hours before the vote. “Americans did not give Republicans a majority in the House to continue Nancy Pelosi’s inflationary spending and Joe Biden’s failed policies,” the group wrote in a statement. “This is not what we promised the American people.” The vote is also likely to be unpopular with the Republican base, which consistently ranks immigration as one of the top issues facing the country. Over 80 percent of Republican voters agree with President Donald Trump that the ongoing border crisis is “poisoning the blood” of America. https://dailycaller.com/2024/01/17/blue-state-officials-pay-thousands-barring-church-preschool-lunch-program-beliefs-gender/ Blue State Officials Agree To Pay Thousands After Barring Church From Preschool Lunch Program For Beliefs On Gender California state officials agreed to settle with the Church of Compassion and Dayspring Christian Learning Center Tuesday for nearly $200,000 after trying to exclude the church from the state’s preschool lunch program. The church and the center, alongside Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), filed a lawsuit in June last year alleging that officials with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the California Department of Social Services barred them from participating in the “Child and Adult Food Care Program” because of their religious beliefs on gender and sex. ADF and state officials filed a settlement agreement this week requiring the defendants to pay $30,000 for meals paid out of pocket in the absence of state funding and $160,000 for attorney’s fees. “In the name of combatting discrimination, government officials excluded the church and preschool from serving the El Cajon community based solely on their religious beliefs and exercise,” Jeremiah Galus, senior counsel for ADF, said in a press release. “While it shouldn’t have taken a lawsuit to resolve this, at least now Church of Compassion can continue its vital outreach to needy children and families.” The center had been a part of the USDA’s program for nearly two decades when the department changed its rules in 2021 requiring all participants to commit to not discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity. In May 2023, the department also required state directors of USDA’s food and nutrition service programs to prohibit “discrimination on the basis of gender identity and sexual orientation.” Church of Compassion and Dayspring Christian Learning Center failed to meet these new requirements for the 2022-2023 school year because of their beliefs on “human sexuality” and their refusal to “use any child or employee’s ‘preferred’ pronouns that do not correspond to biological sex,” according to the lawsuit. ADF argued that the department and state officials were deliberately discriminating against the church and the learning center because of its faith in violation of the First Amendment. “The government can’t withhold food from families in need simply because their children attend a Christian preschool. The Constitution protects the right of Church of Compassion and its preschool to operate according to the dictates of their faith,” Galus said in the press release. https://townhall.com/tipsheet/madelineleesman/2024/01/17/lgbt-activist-arrested-child-predator-sting-n2633750 Director of LGBTQ+ Organization That Helps Minors Arrested in Child Sex Sting The executive director of the pro-LGBTQ+ organization Rainbow Research Center was apprehended on suspicion of attempting to engage in sexual activities with a minor, according to The Modesto Bee. Reportedly, a total of 17 men were arrested on suspicion of eliciting sex with a minor after an undercover sting conducted by the Turlock Police Department in California. Gerard Slayton, 42, was one of them (via the Bee): Slayton recently was appointed executive director of the Rainbow Center, a local nonprofit organization that provides resources to LGBTQ+ members of all ages. It particularly offers resources related to mental and physical health. In a statement shared on Facebook, the Rainbow Resource Center said that Slayton’s actions occurred “outside working hours and off-premises.” “Mr. Slayton’s actions do not represent our organization’s values or mission. In accordance with our unwavering commitment to upholding the highest standards of conduct and integrity, we are addressing the issue within the Rainbow Resource Center,” the statement read. “We are dedicated to rebuilding any trust that may have been affected by the situation. As an organization that is at the forefront of advocacy and support for the LGBTQ+ community, our actions must reflect our dedication to these principles,” it continued. https://dailycaller.com/2024/01/17/beijing-china-wuhan-covid-19-100-percent-death-mice-study-full-paper/ Mutant COVID-19 Strain With 100% Kill Rate Developed In China A pre-peer-reviewed study published in early January described how mice were exposed to a human-based “lethal infection” of COVID-19 with a 100% mortality rate. The Beijing-based research paper was submitted to the scientific preprint site BioRXiv and published prior to peer review, but the data held within the pages is significant. Two SARS-CoV-2-related pangolin coronaviruses (GD/2019, GX/2017) were identified prior to the major COVID-19 outbreak in late 2019 through early 2020, according to the study’s authors. The researchers then isolated “mutant” strains, which were cultured in labs between 2017 and 2020. When the infectivity and pathogenicity of the isolates were tested, it was found to easily infect golden hamsters and mice. The first isolate pCoV-GD01 had a higher homology than COVID-19, whereas GX_P2V didn’t seem to cause any disease in the animals despite infection. But an early passaged GX_P2V isolate, named GX_P2v(short_3UTR) not only infected mice with extremely high viral loads into their lung and brain tissue, but eventually killed 100% of the mice within the study. Even those mice who were given an inoculation (i.e., vaccinated) succumbed to the disease. Autopsy of the mice showed viral RNA in the brain, lung, turbinate, eye and trachea, killing all of the mice within eight days of infection. All of the mice’s eyes also went white the day before they died. The authors argued this is the first report that COVID-19-related pangolin coronavirus can cause 100% mortality rates in mice, suggesting a significant risk of the disease spilling over into humans. But since the study is not peer-reviewed, there are huge questions about the efficacy of the results. “I had a look at the preprint. It’s a terrible study, scientifically totally pointless. I can see nothing of vague interest that could be learned from force-infecting a weird breed of humanised mice with a random virus. Conversely, I could see how such stuff might go wrong …” University College London genetics director Francois Balloux wrote on Twitter. “The preprint does not specify the biosafety level and biosafety precautions used for the research.” Balloux’s statements were reiterated by Rutgers University chemistry professor Richard H. Ebright, who wrote “concur” under the comment. It appears the biggest concern is related to why scientists feel the need to develop these horrific diseases. “The absence of this information raises the concerning possibility that part or all of this research, like the research in Wuhan in 2016-2019 that likely caused the Covid-19 pandemic, recklessly was performed without the minimal biosafety containment and practices essential for research with potential pandemic pathogens,” Balloux concluded. And it’s pretty hard to argue with his stance. China is already inching back toward lockdowns as mysterious viruses spread throughout the country. Most of these illnesses are being blamed on influenza strains and other respiratory diseases, but no single culprit has been identified to date.

In this episode, Colleen and Robyn sit down with Walter Lübeck. Through his varied training, research and development, and past life recollections, his work has a unique spiritual depth and practical effectiveness. Most of the content of his teachings is based on memories of past life experiences as a spiritual teacher and healer. In various research projects he worked with internationally active scientists on the scientific documentation of the effects of the methods he developed and was thus able to impressively confirm the energetic effects of applications from the fields of “Rainbow Reiki” & “Three Ray Meditation” & “Medicine Buddha Practice.” Walter is also an avid musician he has released several music productions, teaches shamanic drumming (Magic Power Drums) and singing. Among other things, he plays various drums, drum synthesizers, hand pans, tongue drums, didgeridoo and synthesizers, and Native American flute. He performs regularly in concerts and has recorded several music albums. For many decades he has clothed his mystical experiences in poems and songs, often of a mantra character, which are frequently passed on to his students in his seminars. Contributions by Walter Lübeck have appeared in over 20 journals over the years. Among others in: Connection, Reiki Magazine (German), Reiki Magazine (USA), Spirit-Online, Angel Magazine, Grenzenlos, Tantra Magazine, Vigeno, Spirit & Healing, LebensArt. Since the year 2000 had developed a range of radionics products, spiritual technology, under the name of “Goddess Radionics” which help humans, animals, and plants to better cope with the multiple stresses of the environment, make vibrational essences of all kinds themselves, and create personal power places. This gift was given to him on a trip to Rishikesh (India) by the Goddess of the river Ganges. Goddess Radionics brings various healing structures of Divine Light into the material world through unique sacred graphics. In recent years, Walter Lübeck has expanded Goddess Radionics into the realm of video art. Thus, he artistically depicts a rich variety of healing spiritual processes on various topics of daily life and soul development, most of which are available free of charge on his YouTube channel in several languages for spiritually interested people, Walter Lübeck lives in the north of Germany in the midst of a beautiful landscape, which is crisscrossed with ancient places of power and mystical sites, which he likes to visit. He teaches at his Rainbow Center in Hameln as well as at various spiritual centers in Germany when he is not working internationally. Many of his courses are also held as multimedia webinars. He teaches in German and English. Walter Lübeck accompanies his students to enlightenment and spiritual realization and supports them in difficult stages of the path, such as the integration of mystical experiences, the rising of the Kundalini or enlightenment experiences. If needed, he gives spiritual names, personal mantras and Shaktipad, the touch of the Great Goddess. Salim Abdul Ghani leans on the wall of the residential building in the Akyol neighborhood in Gaziantep, Turkey, which used to be the center of his world.“For three years, we stayed in that building,” he said, with a look of sadness on his face. The building houses the Rainbow Center, which he and a group of volunteers started seven years ago in response to the large number of Syrian children they saw working on the streets of Gaziantep, a city close to the border with Syria. Salim Abdul Ghani helped found the Rainbow Center in Gaziantep, Turkey, to help Syrian youth stay off the streets. Credit: Shirin Jaafari/The World Related: Afghans who fled to Turkey are worried — and hopeful — about the prospect of peace at homeMore than 100 children, ages 7-10, frequented the center six days a week. They came to learn, make art, play and receive mental health support. The Rainbow Center gave the kids and their families a lifeline, said Ghani, who fled war-torn Aleppo some years ago.But today, the community center’s door is locked — nobody is around and the only sound comes from the hum of generators at a nearby hospital. It was forced to close over a year ago, along with schools and businesses, when the pandemic hit Turkey. It’s unclear when the center might be able to reopen. The government just announced another three weeks of lockdown to curb the coronavirus in the country, which has the fourth-highest number of infections in the world.“This is a crisis that affected our center. ... The pandemic is a global problem. But for us, it’s even harder because we were not equipped to deal with it.”Salim Abdul Ghani, Raimbow Center“This is a crisis that affected our center,” Ghani explained. “The pandemic is a global problem. But for us, it’s even harder because we were not equipped to deal with it.”Now, Ghani worries about how the children are faring. Some of the children have lost one or both parents, and all of them, displaced by the war in Syria, are traumatized, he said. Many have been forced to work, and most have also lost years of education.Related: Syrian children in Lebanon are ‘being robbed of their futures’Family incomes have fallen or vanished completely during the pandemic, and schools are closed. And all of that puts more pressure on children to earn money.According to the International Labor Organization, the coronavirus pandemic has put millions of children at risk of being forced into work. “Protect Children from Child Labour, now more than ever!” the ILO declared last summer.A safe spaceFor Ghani, identifying children in the area who needed support wasn’t hard. All he had to do was walk around the main streets and intersections — he spotted children picking through trash or selling merchandise like gum.Related: This photographer tells the story of Syria’s war through the eyes of childrenHe would approach them and ask if they had guardians and if so, could he meet them. Then, he would try to convince the guardians to send their children to the center.“We couldn’t cover the money the children were making on the street, and the families couldn’t go without that income. So, we would ask the parents if the kids could come to the center at least a few hours a week.”Salim Abdul Ghani, Raimbow Center“We couldn’t cover the money the children were making on the street,” Ghani said, “and the families couldn’t go without that income. So, we would ask the parents if the kids could come to the center at least a few hours a week.”All of the kids were traumatized, Ghani said. They would flinch at the sudden sound of a door closing or a tap on the shoulder. That’s why he arranged for the children to undergo a psychological evaluation when they first arrived at the center. If the children needed support, the center provided it through a partnership with another nongovernmental organization. Then, the children would get lessons in Arabic and Turkish and took part in various workshops in subjects such as theater, music or drawing — all run by volunteers. Over the years, Ghani said, the Rainbow Center became a sanctuary, a safe space for Syrian children traumatized by war and displacement.Related: He survived torture in a Syrian prison. Now, he’s set to study in the US.Roughly 4 million Syrians have fled to Turkey since the start of the war in 2011. More than half of them are children, according to UNICEF. Some have lost one or both parents to the war.In Gaziantep, every third inhabitant is from Syria, according to information from the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung nonprofit foundation, which has an office in Turkey and has featured the center’s work.At the Rainbow Center, they could play, draw, sing. Be themselves. Even if for a brief moment. But the pandemic robbed them of that escape.‘They loved the center’ One family that Ghani has been checking in with regularly since the start of the pandemic is Sharifa Riza and her four young sons. They live in an abandoned house tucked away at the end of a narrow alleyway. Riza’s sons went to the Rainbow Center. Now, they’re at home full-time. Her husband was a baker and one night, when he was asleep at the shop, a fire broke out and took his life. Then, came the war — fighter jets dropped bombs near the family’s home.Riza and her sons fled to Turkey nine years ago. The first few months in this country were tough, she said. They had no financial support and didn’t speak Turkish. So, three of the boys had to work. One worked at a toy store, another sold women’s accessories, Riza explained.“I was so happy when they started going to the center. They were learning Arabic.”Sharifa Riza, mother of four sons who used to go to the Rainbow Center“I was so happy when they started going to the center,” she said. “They were learning Arabic.”That's important to her because none of her sons, who are between the ages of 11 and 14, can read or write in Arabic. They never went to school in Syria. She said her children are hard workers and want to learn and go to school. “They loved the center,” she said. “I didn't force them to go but they were so motivated to go themselves.” Salim Abdul Ghani has been checking in with Sharifa Riza and her four young sons since the start of the pandemic. Credit: Shirin Jaafari/The World Riza’s sons continue to work odd jobs. The family gets a monthly stipend from the Turkish government but their situation in Turkey remains precarious.Ghani said he sees a lot of potential in Riza’s children. He has helped get two of them enrolled in Turkish schools. Bilal, who is 11, is at the top of his class now, Ghani explained, looking on proudly as the children played in the yard. What pains Ghani today is that he was just starting to see the fruit of his labor. He said he saw the changes the program brought to Syrian youth.“They played, sang, made friends. A new world opened to them,” he said, his eyes welling up with tears. He hopes the pandemic will be over soon — and that once again, he can hear the sound of children at the Rainbow Center.

Guest: Jonathan Fanaroff, MD, JD, FCLM, FAAP Host: Maurice Pickard, MD About 500,000 births in the US every year are pre-term, making premature delivery far from uncommon. And with the increasing survival of pre-term infants, parents and caretakers are having to make more difficult decisions then ever before. How are prenatal consultations beneficial, and when is the most appropriate time for physicians to have a prenatal discussion with parents? Dr. Jonathan Fanaroff, associate medical director of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital and director of the Rainbow Center for Pediatric Ethics in Cleveland, Ohio, suggests strategies for approaching this type of conversation with parents, and emphasizes the role of these discussions in strengthening the relationship and trust between physicians and parents. Dr. Maurice Pickard hosts.
