I 1975 dúnmharaíodh fear agus bean ina dteach feirme, timpeall míle ó Moy I dTír Eoghain. I 2003 bhí dúshlán dlíthiúil leis an rialtas de bharr an choisc caitheamh tobac. Shínigh an dlí cúpla uair roimhe ach bhí sé faoi bhagairt. I 1998 bhí bean ó Portland ar cuairt chuig an tAonach Urmhumhan agus ní raibh a fhios aici an áit chun an diosca a fháil chun parcáil agus ar deireadh bhuaigh sí an cás, agus fuair sí an 15 punt ar ais a íoc sí. I 2012 thaisteal fear Rómánach a raibh ina chónaí I gCiarraí chuig Cahir chun goid róslabhras I gcoill. Chúisigh an fear a ghoid 2,500 róslabhras leis an chostas de 300 euro ó Bhóthar na Gora. Sin Sugababes le Hold In The Head – an t-amhrán is mó ar an lá seo I 2003. Ag lean ar aghaidh le nuacht cheoil ar an lá seo I 2001 fuair Kim Gardner bás ó ailse. Shroich sí uimhir a 3 sa Bhreatain I 1971 leis an amhrán The Resurrection Shuffle agus chuir sí an bhanna cheoil The Birds sa 60dí le chéile le giotáraí Ronnie Wood. I 2006 tháinig Taylor Swift amach lena chéad albam. Bhí sí 16 ag an am nuair a tháinig sé amach agus shroich sé barr na cairteacha agus d'fhan sé ann ar feadh 24 seachtain agus dhíol sí 7 milliúin cóip ag an am. Bhí an t-albam an ceann a d'fhan ar na cairteacha don am is mó – d'fhan sí ann ar feadh 277 seachtain ina iomláine. Agus ar deireadh breithlá daoine cáiliúla ar an lá seo rugadh Wayne Rooney sa Bhreatain I 1985 agus rugadh amhránaí Drake I gCeanada ar an lá seo I 1986 agus seo chuid de amhrán. Fáilte ar ais chuig eagrán nua de Ar An Lá Seo ar an 7ú lá de mí Dheireadh Fómhair, liomsa Lauren Ní Loingsigh. I 1983 bhí cuardach ag dul ar aghaidh ag an chósta thoir d'eitleán a chuaigh ar iarradh agus bhí 4 duine air. I 2005 d'úsáid triúir dhéagóirí scian, gloine, sluasaid agus maide croise I rith ionsaí a tharla ar beirt dhuine. I 2006 shiúil Taoiseach Bertie Ahern síos Sráid Pearse san Aonach Urmhumhan. Ní raibh mórán duine ar an tsráid ach stop Bertie chun labhairt le cúpla duine. Chuaigh sé isteach chuig siopa caifé agus siopa seodóra. Chroith sé lámh le cúpla daoine a raibh ag siúil ar an tsráid chomh maith. I 2010 tháinig sé amach nach raibh comhairle baile san Aonach Urmhumhan chun 20 nóiméad pairceáil saor in aisce a dhéanamh chun níos mó gnó a fháil sa bhaile mar nach raibh sé chun obair. Bhí na trádálaithe sa bhaile ag iarradh an córas seo a leag amach – ionas go mbeadh 20 nóiméad saor in aisce ag na tiománaí sa bhaile. Sin Sugababes le Push The Button – an t-amhrán is mó ar an lá seo I 2005. Ag lean ar aghaidh le nuacht cheoil ar an lá seo I 2004 fuair giotáraí Mick Mars ó Motley Crew athchur cromáin ag aois 53 in ospidéal in LA. I 2007 chuaigh Bruce Springsteen chuig uimhir a haon sa Bhreatain lena halbam Magic. Bhí sé a 15ú halbam agus ag seachtú h-uimhir a haon sa Bhreatain agus shroich sé uimhir a haon I Meiriceá chomh maith. Agus ar deireadh breithlá daoine cáiliúla ar an lá seo rugadh Simon Cowell sa Bhreatain I 1959 agus rugadh amhránaí Toni Braxton I Meiriceá ar an lá seo I 1967 agus seo chuid de amhrán. Beidh mé ar ais libh amárach le heagrán nua de Ar An Lá Seo. Welcome back to another edition of Ar An Lá Seo on the 7th of October, with me Lauren Ní Loingsigh 1983: A earch along the east coast was underway searching for a missing light aircraft with 4 people on board. 2005: 2 teenage boys and a female acomplice used knives, a glass, a shovel and a crutch during a savage attack on a couple celebrating new years eve. 2006 -Taoiseach Bertie Ahern cast an inconspicuous figure as he strode down Pearse Street in Nenagh. The street was virtually deserted of people. But Bertie would continue to press the flesh and chat with the ordinary folk, but there was hardly a soul in sight. Seeing nobody on the street, he entered a coffee shop and then a jewellery shop to say hello to the staff. He shook hands with four or five people who happened to be passing by.  2010 - Hopes of offering 20 minutes of free parking to boost business in Nenagh were dashed amid the town council's view that the proposal is unworkable. Nenagh traders have been calling on the local authority to introduce a system whereby motorists would not be charged for the first 20 minutes of on-street parking in the town.  That was Sugababes with Push The Button – the biggest song on this day in 2005 Onto music news on this day In 2004 53 year old Motley Crue guitarist Mick Mars had a hip replacement operation in a LA hospital. 2007 Bruce Springsteen went to No.1 on the UK album chart with 'Magic', the singer, songwriter's 15th studio album and 7th UK No.1. Also a US No.1 album. And finally celebrity birthdays on this day – Simon Cowell was born in the UK in 1959 and singer Toni Braxton was born in America on this day in 1967 and this is one of her songs. In this episode, Matty and Craig bring yesterday back around to discuss the Sugabab-babes' (seriously, what was with the typography for this campaign?) biggest hit: 'About You Now'.  Despite unanimous praise for the song and a consensus that the music video was slightly underwhelming, there are wildly different opinions on what 'About You Now' meant for where the group were at this point, and how it potentially influenced their subsequent career. We also talk about the Miranda Cosgrove version of the track (begrudgingly, in Matty's case), which charted in America. And, of course, no discussion of 'About You Now' would be complete without mentioning that iconic 'Hollyoaks' scene... 2002. The pop culture landscape would never be the same again. No, we're not talking about Robbie Williams £80m, six album deal (although Rudebox would indeed shift the landscape, if not exactly many copies). We're not even talking about Pop Idol top ten contestant Jessica Garlick coming (joint) third in Eurovision, although that was pretty good. We could be talking about the arrival of 6Music and BBC Four (TOTP RERUNS!!).But no, all of these memorable highlights take a positively backseat position against the stellar backdrop that was, quite literally, the 2002 Pop World! Boybands!Girl groups!Kylie!Coldplay!ABS!Don't be fooled listeners, 2002 consisted of twelve months that gave us pop memories like no other. Atomic Kitten rode the Tide! Britney loved Rock (‘n' Roll)! Daniel Bedingfield loved James Dean (possibly)! And amongst the idols and stars and academy's of TV talent shows increasingly speedy conveyor belts, the decade they continued to call the ‘noughties' moved up a gear thanks to Sugababes, Liberty X, Ms Dynamite and countless others. Where could it all end, we collectively asked (quite possibly via MSN messenger, or on a dial-up webchat forum)? And who better to navigate the BEST SELLING compilation of 2002, NOW 53, than senior producer for Listen the award winning premium podcast company David Manero! Taking time away from the Kitchen Disco with Sophie Ellis Bextor, Traitors Uncloaked, and the Pop Top Ten pod with Scott Mills and Rylan Clark, David shares his memories, hits and misses from the 43 Top Chart Hits across his two CDs (and a broken case). And, along the way, rediscover some genuine lost in the vault moments, find out what NOW whiplash is and how to avoid it, consider how the Spanglish Rappers Delight conquered the world, and marvel at how Teutonic techno troublers Scooter really were such a Big Thing. So, put down your Nokia 3310 or your Motorola Razr V3, switch off Big Brother 3, come out of the record department of Sainsbury's and tune into the best of 2002!I'm seein' stars, I can't believe my eyes… Hosted on Acast. In this electrifying episode of the Final Furlong Podcast, hosts Emmet Kennedy and Abbie MacGregor unpack a storm brewing over British racing. As the winds of change blow, they delve into the potential seismic shifts under a Labour government, the uproar over a new solar farm in Newmarket, and the battle lines being drawn in environmental and media landscapes. From political gamesmanship to the stark realities of climate change debates, no topic is off-limits in this deep dive into the future of British racing and the controversies shaping it. Key Discussions: Labour's Grip on Gambling and Racing: What will a left-wing majority mean for the storied tracks and fierce betting halls of Britain? We dissect Labour's policies on gambling, animal rights, and their looming impact on the sport of kings. Solar Farm Controversy: Why is Newmarket, the heartland of British horse racing, now the site of a contentious solar farm? We expose the behind-the-scenes deals, the touted benefits, and why locals are up in arms. Questioning Climate Policies: Is it time to challenge what's being sold as the solution to climate change? Listen as we argue the need for transparency and debate over the green policies affecting every sector, including racing. The Decline of Legacy Media: As the digital era accelerates, does horse racing still need traditional media? We explore the shift from print and broadcast to digital dynamism and what it means for racing coverage. The Truth About Lies: Dive into the murky waters of manipulated statistics and misleading data in media. How are numbers twisted to sway public opinion on everything from environmental policies to political agendas? Conspiracy Theories Unraveled: From Biden to Trump, we tackle how political misinformation feeds the frenzy of conspiracy theories and what that spells out for society at large. Likes appreciated

Welcome to our first ever Right Back At Ya! Book Club episode. It's a new thing we're doing to cross into the world of literature, just like so many of our popstars-turned-authors. For our very first attempt at this spin-off series; we're speaking with respected pop music journalist and author Michael Cragg, who released his first book - the very 'right up our street' - "Reach for the Stars - 1996-2006: Fame, Fallout and Pop's Final Party", which is now available in paperback. Hello, Christmas stocking filler! This 'pop bible', as hailed by Joel, is a super fun look at the golden years of pop from Spice Girls through to the dawn of the reality show eras of Pop Idol, Popstars and The X Factor. Michael has literally spoken to so many legends in this book, including members of Spice Girls, 5ive, Steps, Girls Aloud, Sugababes, Blue, as well as hitmakers like Brian Higgins and Miranda Cooper of Xenomania, Richard X, MNEK, and industry legends like Peter Lorraine, Pete Waterman, Louis Walsh and... our very own Joel and David. Michael chats with our RBAY boys about his process in putting together this incredible pop oral history, and spotlights three songs by three artists he spoke with for the book. Nish and Coco reflect on a scandal they think is a perfect metaphor for Tory-led Britain. Schools have had to close because they've been built using cheap and unstable concrete (called RAAC), while there are also concerns over hospitals and other public buildings. So as the country crumbles around us, who's to blame?Labour leader Keir Starmer has reshuffled his top team ahead of next year's expected general election. Coco welcomes brand new Shadow Minister for Creative Industries and Digital, Chris Bryant, into the studio. He gives his reaction to his appointment and admits he's a bit “discombobulated” after a whirlwind day. He reveals how reshuffles haven't always gone well for him, and impresses Coco with his impression of Tony Blair. He also talks about his new book 'Code of Conduct', which seeks to provide a blueprint to make Westminster politics work better. Also find out Chris Bryant's favourite Sugababes song, why Nish fears being kidnapped by Kevin Bacon, and which action hero should voice Nadine Dorries' new book.Pod Save the UK is a Reduced Listening production for Crooked Media. Contact us via email: PSUK@reducedlistening.co.ukWhatsApp: 07514 644572 (UK) or + 44 7514 644572Insta: https://instagram.com/podsavetheukTwitter: https://twitter.com/podsavetheukTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@podsavetheukFacebook: https://facebook.com/podsavetheukYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/podsavetheworldUseful links:Article by Merope Mills: https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/sep/04/daughter-died-hospital-families-treatment-martha-ruleGuests:Sir Chris Bryant, Labour MP for Rhondda, and Shadow Minister for Creative Industries and DigitalAudio credits:Parliamentlive.tvITV NewsBBC Radio 4@Ettifaq
