Please COMMENT, LIKE & SUBSCRIBE! Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Beşiktaş have gone from a 6 match win streak to now back to back losses int he Turkish Süper Lig, following last week's abyssmal display against a 10-men Gaziantep. This time the Black Eagles may have hit a new low, as they lost against a 9 men Konyaspor! Despite the circumstances of the match going int heir favour with the hosts being reduced to 10-men in the first half after a horror tackle from Melih Bostan on the returning Gabriel Paulista. Despite being reduced to 10-men however, Konyaspor -- much like Trabzonspor earlier this season -- took the lead on a set-piece. But unlike earlier this season in Trabzon, the Black Eagles were completely unable to fight themselves back int he match. In the second half, with plenty of time on the clock, Konyaspor were even reduced to 9 men after Alassane Ndao saw his second yellow, but Beşiktaş were still completely uncapable of fighting themselves back int he match despite the two men advantage. Potentilaly a new low for them in this already lowpoint riddled season. Beşiktaş have seen their positive momentum unexpectedly halted following a painful home defeat at the hands of Gaziantep FK. Ciro Immobile had put the Black Eagles 1-0 up from the penalty spot in the first half, after Rafa Silva was brought down int he box by Viana (who later saw his second yellow). But despite starting the second half well and forcing Gaziantep's goalkeeper Burak to several good saves, it was the visitors who scored against the run of play. When they then later went down to 10-men and the Black Eagles were pushing for a second, again the visitors struck against the run of play following a collective switch off at the back. This Day in Legal History: Bloody SundayOn March 7, 1965, a pivotal moment in the civil rights movement unfolded in Selma, Alabama. A group of 525 peaceful demonstrators, led by activists like John Lewis and Hosea Williams, began a march to Montgomery to demand voting rights for Black Americans. As they crossed the Edmund Pettus Bridge, they were met by Alabama state troopers and local law enforcement, who brutally attacked them with billy clubs and tear gas. The violent crackdown, later known as "Bloody Sunday," left at least 65 people injured and shocked the nation. Television broadcasts of the assault galvanized public support for civil rights, prompting federal intervention. After securing court protection, a second attempt on March 9, led by Martin Luther King Jr., was turned around peacefully to avoid further violence. Finally, under federal protection, thousands of marchers resumed the journey on March 21, arriving in Montgomery on March 25 with 25,000 people. The march directly contributed to the passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, which outlawed discriminatory voting practices. "Bloody Sunday" remains a defining moment in the struggle for racial justice in America, symbolizing both the brutality of oppression and the power of collective resistance.President Donald Trump issued an executive order targeting Perkins Coie LLP, citing the firm's role in commissioning the Steele dossier during the 2016 election and its diversity hiring practices. The order suspends security clearances for Perkins Coie employees and directs federal agencies to review and potentially terminate contracts with the firm and its business partners. It also instructs the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Justice Department to investigate racial discrimination policies at major law firms, referencing Perkins Coie's past use of racial hiring quotas. The directive extends to restricting Perkins Coie employees from entering federal buildings and limiting their engagement with government officials.Trump's move comes after similar actions against Covington & Burling for its representation of former special counsel Jack Smith. The executive order frames Perkins Coie as a national security risk, linking its past election law litigation to alleged threats against democratic integrity. It also mandates that federal contractors disclose business ties to the firm, aiming to cut off government funds to entities associated with it. The order's broader scope signals heightened scrutiny of “Big Law” firms, especially those engaged in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. Trump's administration has pushed back against race-conscious hiring practices, aligning the order with prior efforts to dismantle DEI policies in education and employment.Perkins Coie, a longtime legal adviser to Democrats, denounced the order as unlawful and vowed to challenge it. The firm has been at the center of Republican criticism over election-related litigation and its former attorneys' ties to Democratic campaigns. The administration's focus on law firms suggests a broader effort to reshape the legal industry's relationship with the federal government.Trump Targets Law Firms Over Steele Dossier, Diversity Moves (1)A federal judge reinstated Gwynne Wilcox to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), ruling that former President Donald Trump lacked the authority to fire her. Judge Beryl Howell of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia found Trump's dismissal of Wilcox violated legal protections for independent agency members, emphasizing that the president's removal powers are not absolute. Howell's decision strongly reaffirmed Humphrey's Executor v. United States(1935), which upheld restrictions on presidential firings of independent agency officials. The ruling restores the NLRB's quorum, allowing it to issue decisions again, but the Trump administration immediately appealed, seeking to block Wilcox's return. Howell's opinion included a sharp rebuke of Trump's attempts to assert unchecked presidential authority, stating, “An American President is not a king.” She pointed to longstanding legal precedent that limits the president's power to remove officials from multi-member independent agencies, dating back to the Interstate Commerce Commission's creation in 1887.Trump's legal team argued that Wilcox's firing was justified under the Supreme Court's 2020 Seila Law v. CFPB decision, which expanded presidential removal power over single-agency heads. However, Howell rejected this claim, noting that NLRB members' powers resemble those of the Federal Trade Commission members protected under Humphrey's Executor. The ruling marks the third time a court has reversed Trump's firings of agency officials, signaling a broader legal battle over executive authority that may reach the Supreme Court. Wilcox's attorney praised the decision as a victory for the independence of federal agencies, while the Justice Department has not yet commented.Fired NLRB Member Reinstated in Decision Nixing Trump Move (4)A coalition of 20 Democrat-led states, led by New York Attorney General Letitia James, has sued the Trump administration over mass firings of federal workers. Filed in a Maryland federal court, the lawsuit argues that President Donald Trump illegally dismissed tens of thousands of employees without proper notice or justification. The states seek to reinstate the workers and block further terminations.Trump's efforts to shrink the federal workforce have already faced legal pushback. A judge recently reinstated a National Labor Relations Board member fired by Trump, and another court temporarily halted the administration's directive to fire new hires en masse. Additionally, a federal workforce board reinstated thousands of employees at the U.S. Department of Agriculture.Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk have framed the firings as part of a campaign to eliminate government inefficiency and waste. However, critics, including the states in this lawsuit, argue that the dismissals violate labor laws and undermine public service. The case adds to mounting legal challenges against Trump's sweeping efforts to reshape the federal bureaucracy.Democrat-led states join legal fight over Trump's mass firings of federal workers | ReutersThe Trump administration is planning to shut down nearly a dozen U.S. diplomatic missions, primarily in Western Europe, as part of a broader effort to reduce government spending and reshape foreign policy. The State Department is also considering merging several Washington-based expert bureaus focused on human rights, refugees, and global criminal justice. Additionally, U.S. embassies worldwide have been instructed to cut at least 10% of their American and locally employed staff. The proposed closures include consulates in Germany, France, Italy, Brazil, and Portugal, though officials say some locations may be spared. The administration argues these cuts align with Trump's “America First” agenda and his campaign promise to reduce the so-called "deep state." Critics warn that reducing the U.S. diplomatic presence, along with cuts to the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), could weaken American global influence and create openings for adversaries like China and Russia.Congress has been notified of the plan to close the U.S. consulate in Gaziantep, Turkey, a key hub for Syrian humanitarian aid. In Washington, dozens of State Department contractors have been terminated, including those handling Afghan refugee resettlement. Diplomats working on Asian affairs have been asked to justify their missions' alignment with Trump's policies. The administration's deep cuts to foreign aid and staffing have already resulted in thousands of USAID workers being laid off and billions in humanitarian aid being eliminated.Trump administration weighs closure of nearly a dozen diplomatic missions abroad | ReutersThis week's closing theme is by Maurice Ravel. Our theme is Piano Concerto in G - I. Allegramente by Maurice Ravel, a composer known for his shimmering orchestration and masterful blend of classical form with modern harmonies. Born on March 7, 1875, Ravel was a key figure in early 20th-century music, often associated with Impressionism, though he resisted the label. His Piano Concerto in G, composed between 1929 and 1931, reflects his fascination with jazz, which he encountered during a trip to the United States. The first movement, Allegramente, is bright and rhythmic, opening with a whip-crack that sets the tone for its energy and playfulness. Ravel weaves in blues-inspired harmonies, rapid piano flourishes, and sparkling orchestral textures, creating a piece that feels both spontaneous and carefully crafted. Despite its liveliness, the movement is meticulously structured, showcasing Ravel's precision and attention to detail. The concerto as a whole balances virtuosic brilliance with lyricism, particularly in the dreamy second movement. Ravel himself admitted he aimed for a work that was “light and brilliant,” rather than deep or profound. Yet, in its elegance and wit, the concerto captures the vibrancy of early 20th-century musical innovation. As the spirited Allegramente unfolds, it serves as a fitting farewell to the week—playful, energetic, and bursting with color.Without further ado, Piano Concerto in G - I. Allegramente by Maurice Ravel. Enjoy! This is a public episode. If you'd like to discuss this with other subscribers or get access to bonus episodes, visit www.minimumcomp.com/subscribe

Mulțumim mult Turciei”, a declarat unul dintre manifestanți. Ekim ayının sonunda Eğitim-Sen Gebze Şubesi'nin düzenlediği, Birleşik Metal Gebze 1 No'lu Şube'nin ev sahipliği yaptığı “Kapital Neden İşçi Sınıfının El Kitabıdır?” konulu eğitim toplantısı üzerinde sosyal medyada epey duruldu. Marx'ın Kapital'i! Gebze'deki salona gelince. Onlar Marx'ın Kapital'inden artık mezun oldular sayılır. Sıra çok daha zoruna, Lenin'in Ne Yapmalı'sına geldi!

Sanırım 2011 yılının Ocak ayıydı. Her zamanki gibi uçak biletlerimizi Gaziantep'e almış, Türkmen taksici Abdülkadir abiyi Antep'e çağırmıştık. Âdetimiz öyleydi. Antep'e gidiyor, Azez kapı üzerinden Halep'e geçiyorduk. O sefer de öyle yaptık.
Dörtlü Masa bu haftaki bölümüne Mehmet Atar'ın katıldığı spor medyasının ünlü isimleriyle dolu olan etkinliğine değinerek başlıyor. Bölümün devamında ekibin Gaziantep gezisi, yaşanılan sorunlar, aşkı aramak ve bulmak, bir kulübün efsanesi olmak, yalan söylemek, alınan kilolar, batıl inançlar, ufak gerginlikler, en rahatsız edici sözler ve daha birçok farklı konu uzun uzun konuşuluyor. Keyifli dinlemeler!

România are 5.000 de buncăre.

Waiting for the Revolution to End: Syrian Displacement, Time and Subjectivity (UCL Press, 2023) by Dr. Charlotte Al-Khalili explores the Syrian revolution through the experiences of citizens in exile. Based on more than three years of embedded fieldwork with Syrians displaced in the border city of Gaziantep (southern Turkey), the book places the Syrian revolution and its tragic aftermath under ethnographic scrutiny. It charts the evolution from peaceful uprising (2011) to armed confrontation (2012), descent into fully fledged conflict (2013) and finally to proxy war (2015), to propose an understanding of revolution beyond success and failure. While the Assad regime remains in place, the Syrian revolution (al-thawra) still holds a transformational power that can be located on intimate and world-making scales. Dr. Al-Khalili traces the unintended consequences of revolution and its unexpected consequences to reveal the reshaping of Syrian life-worlds and exiles' evolving theorizations, experiences and imaginations of al-thawra. She describes the in-between spatio-temporal realm inhabited by Syrians displaced to Turkey as they await the revolution's outcomes, and maps the revolution's multidimensional and multi-scalar effects on their everyday life. By following the chronology of events inside Syria and Syrians' geography of displacement, the book makes the relation between revolution and displacement its centerpiece, both as an ethnographic object and an analytical device. This interview was conducted by Dr. Miranda Melcher whose forthcoming book focuses on post-conflict military integration, understanding treaty negotiation and implementation in civil war contexts, with qualitative analysis of the Angolan and Mozambican civil wars. Both countries have declared a state of emergency as rescue efforts move to find survivors trapped under rubble, reports the Times of Israel. A second 7.5 magnitude earthquake struck a few minutes later at 4:24 am approximately 60 miles north of the first quake's epicenter, which was centered in the southeastern province of Gaziantep, Turkey, according to the Daily Mail. The first quake's depth was up to 10 miles according to the US Geological Survey and had aftershocks reaching 6.7 on the Richter Scale. Tremors reverberated as far away as Israel and Cairo in Egypt. CBS reports that UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly said "We stand ready to provide further support as needed." A total of 76 search and rescue specialists have been dispatched from the UK to help with the efforts. Almost immediately after the quake hit, Turkey asked the European Civil Project and Humanitarian Aid Operations for assistance and aid. The Turkish Interior Minister said, "The main impact of the earthquake fell on Kahramanmaras. After that, there were at least 22 aftershocks, 6 of magnitude over 6. The earthquake was felt in 10 provinces "Two hours after the earthquake, several dozen dead are known. In many cities, multi-storey buildings have been destroyed; it is not yet possible to start clearing the rubble." https://www.theblaze.com/news/prostitutes-sex-workers-catholic-school-oakland Prostitutes solicit sex right outside Catholic elementary school, police handcuffed after California Democrats passed law to protect transgender sex workers Parents of children are up in arms that prostitutes are soliciting sex work right outside a California elementary school. Some are saying that a law passed by California Democrats has handcuffed law enforcement in cracking down on sex workers selling their bodies in broad daylight. KGO-TV conducted an investigation about prostitutes working outside St. Anthony's elementary school in East Oakland. The San Francisco-based news station captured video of sex workers dressed in minimal clothes and stiletto heels walking the streets near the Catholic school to sell their bodies in the middle of the day with students nearby. KGO-TV reported, "The I-Team captured videos along E. 15th Street outside the school gate on four different dates over the past couple weeks showing young women wearing barely any clothing walking along the school sidewalk, the street corners, or directly across from the school. All of the videos were captured as children were being dropped off or walked into school." Concerned parent Rosa Vargas told KGO-TV said she sees prostitutes near the Catholic school "every day, during all periods of the day." Vargas said the sex workers solicit sex so close to the elementary school that they recently "were blocking the entrance of the parking structure" of the school. Oakland City Councilman Noel Gallo noted that he is receiving complaints about prostitutes every week. Gallo stated, "I get the call saying, 'Mr. Gallo I can't get into my home because the pimp is blocking my driveway.' It's constant." Gallo said he has seen up to 20 scantily-clad women walking up and down the street, appearing to engage in prostitution. He revealed that some of the girls are as young as 15 years old. City officials believe some of the women are victims of human trafficking. Some believe that recent construction along a busy highway caused the sex workers to migrate to residential neighborhoods. Rodney Pierre-Antoine – who oversees seven Catholic elementary schools, including St. Anthony's – said the hands of the police "are somewhat handcuffed." Pierre-Antoine is referencing Senate Bill 357, known as the Safer Streets for All Act. SB 357 states: Existing law prohibits soliciting or engaging in an act of prostitution, as specified. Existing law also prohibits loitering in a public place with the intent to commit prostitution, as defined, or directing, supervising, recruiting, or aiding a person who is loitering with the intent to commit prostitution, or collecting or receiving all or part of the proceeds of an act of prostitution. Under existing law, a violation of any of these provisions is a misdemeanor. This bill would repeal those provisions related to loitering with the intent to commit prostitution and would make other conforming changes. California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) signed SB 357 into law in July, and it went into effect on Jan. 1. Police officers told KGO-TV that the new law is prohibiting them from rescuing women who they believe are victims of human trafficking. https://www.foxbusiness.com/economy/democrat-led-state-killing-businesses-shrink-secede-several-counties Democrat-led state that’s ‘killing businesses’ could shrink amid push to secede in several counties After 11 Oregon counties approved a preliminary vote to secede from the Democrat-led state, local leaders around the movement are explaining how the urban-rural divide has left them with no other choice. "People in eastern Oregon have felt like their state-level governance has not heard them, has not paid attention to our concerns, and has not been working for eastern Oregon," Greater Idaho Movement spokesperson Matt McCaw said on "Fox & Friends First" Monday. McCaw, along with Oregon business owner Sandie Gilson, supports the idea of having select counties elect to move their state borderlines so state-level governance would come from Idaho. Over the last two years, the Greater Idaho Movement has worked to gather constituent sentiment around the proposal. Business owners like Gilson sounded off on Oregon’s tax policy, detailing the burden taken on by a corporate activity tax. The decision to secede from the state, McCaw argued, would be a "win-win" for all involved parties. The formal state bill, called the Greater Idaho Bill, was introduced to the Oregon legislature on Jan. 10. Idaho state leaders reportedly motioned for formal discussions about the proposal last week, noting the purpose is to "begin official discussions on whether it is feasible to move the Idaho border into eastern Oregon." However, if Idaho and Oregon were to negotiate a border adjustment, U.S. Congress would have to sign off on it, in addition to both Oregon and Idaho legislatures. The plan would create what would become the nation’s third-largest state geographically. https://newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/alex-christy/2023/02/06/study-five-months-late-night-93-liberal-guests-1-conservative Five Months Of Late Night: 93 Liberal Guests, 1 Conservative The late-night comedy shows ended 2022 with a unanimously liberal guest count and that trend continued until the very last day of January, a NewsBusters study has revealed. MRC analysts found that from Labor Day through January 31, liberal guests outnumbered conservative guests 93 to 1. It was 99 percent liberal and/or Democrat. The one exception was My Pillow CEO Mike Lindell who Jimmy Kimmel put on to mock. This is follow up to MRC’s late night guest election campaign study. The study looked at the daily six late night comedy shows: ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!, NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, CBS’s The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and The Late Late Show with James Corden, and Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Trevor Noah and 2023 temp hosts. Fox's Gutfeld! was not included. MRC analysts divided guests into two categories: partisan officials and then journalists and celebrities. When it came to the count of politicians, the count was 27 Democrats to 0 Republicans. Stephen Colbert led with ten, Noah was second with seven, Meyers was third at four, Fallon came in fourth with three, Kimmel placed fifth at two, and Corden was sixth and last with one. Hillary and Chelsea Clinton, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Texas Democratic gubernatorial nominee Beto O’Rourke, and former First Lady Michelle Obama were the guests who appeared multiple times during the length of the study. Obama's appearance on Colbert was split into multiple episodes and is counted as multiple appearances and was the only guest to appear three times. As for journalists and celebrities, the results were 66 liberals to 1 conservative. Stephen Colbert was again the most partisan with 21. Trevor Noah and The Daily Show temp hosts came in second at 17 (11 for Noah, 1 for Leslie Jones, 2 for Wanda Sykes, 3 for D.L. Hughley). Meyers and Fallon tied for bronze with ten. Kimmel again placed fifth with seven and Corden was the least partisan with one. Accountable2You Jesus is Lord. According to the Daily Mail, Air Force Gen. Glen D. VanHerck, commander of US Northern Command, revealed in a Monday call with reporters that the Balloon, in addition to potentially carrying explosives, was 200 feet tall, weighed thousands of pounds, and its payload was the size of a jetliner. https://rumble.com/v28clmv-the-chinese-spy-balloon-has-finally-been-shot-down..html - Play Video VanHerck’s comments came following a briefing by National Security Council spokesman John Kirby, who defended Biden’s decision to wait to shoot down the balloon until the weekend. On the coast of South Carolina on Saturday afternoon, the US military, using an F-22 fighter jet, shot down the balloon with a missile. Shortly before the balloon was shot down, Federal Aviation Administration had issued a ground stop for three airports in the Carolinas located in Wilmington, North Carolina, Charleston, South Carolina, and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The balloon had entered US airspace on January 28 and was known to the Biden administration for nearly a week before its report in the news on Thursday, February 2. The White House reportedly tried to keep its presence secret to not disrupt Secretary of State Antony Blinken scheduled trip to China, which was postponed after the public's discovery of the balloon.
