Featuring: Nicole Herdocia-Oria, RMFT Cohosted By: Emy Fernandez, MBA, Life Coach, and Gabriela Reyes, Registered Marriage and Family Therapist Description: In this episode, Emy and Gabi discuss making time for sex with Nicole Herdocia-Oria, RMFT.  They dig in deep around intimacy issues, including stopping to make time for sex.  The more time we make time not only for the relationship but also for ourselves, the stress around the relationship also reduces. They also discuss lingerie and body image.  They discuss how sometimes having sex feels like hard work.  Emy adds changing your negative thoughts around it to more positive thinking around it and focusing on the benefits of it instead by looking forward to the sex rather than just focusing on the scheduling. Emy referred to a podcast by Life Coach Maggie Reyes, “The Marriage Life Coach Podcast” episode on Navigating Opposite Sex Drives, link below: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-marriage-life-coach-podcast/id1497166414?i=1000517690781 For more on Nicole Herdocia-Oria, RMFT, Emy Fernandez, MBA, Life Coach, and Gabriela Reyes, RMFT, you can visit their pages at the links below: https://www.coralgablescounseling.com/team/nicole-herdocia-oria-ms/ https://www.coralgablescounseling.com/team/emy-fernandez-mba/ https://www.coralgablescounseling.com/team/gabriela-reyes-rmfti/ And if you would like to schedule an appointment with any of them, you can reach our Intake Coordinator, Carolina Navarro, at 305-445-0477.

A lot of people seem to be under the impression that men's sexuality is simple. They see men as being perpetually horny and DTF and as always wanting more sex than women. They also tend to see sex as an inherently physical experience for men, having little do with emotions or intimacy. However, it turns out that this way of thinking about men and sex is all wrong. For this episode of the podcast, I interviewed Dr. Sarah Hunter Murray, who holds a PhD in Human Sexuality from the University of Guelph and is a Registered Marriage & Family Therapist in private practice in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She is author of the book "Not Always in the Mood: The New Science of Men, Sex, & Relationships." We cover a lot of ground in this episode, including: Is men's sexuality as simple as we've been led to believe? Is women's sexuality more “complex” or “complicated” than men's? Do men have a higher sex drive than women? What factors influence libido and sexual desire in men? Is sex a more emotional experience for women than it is for men? Why do so many couples struggle with sexual initiation? What are some tips or strategies that can help when it comes to initiating sex? What do we know about sexual desire in gay, bisexual, and other sexual minority men? Are the sexual struggles and challenges they face similar to or different from those experienced by heterosexual men? To learn more about Sarah's work, check out her website here. For generations, there was an expectation that children would spend their free time playing outdoors, developing friendships, and exploring their neighbourhoods without direct parental supervision. However, in recent decades we have seen a dramatic decline in the independent mobility of children. A worrying consequence of this shift is that Canadian society is now facing a physical inactivity crisis among children and youth. What is driving these changes and how can we reverse this trend? On September 18, 2019, we presented the premiere screening of Running Free: Children's Independent Mobility, produced by Professor Guy Faulkner of UBC's School of Kinesiology. Told through the eyes of three families, this 26-minute documentary explores the concept of children's independent mobility, the benefits for children's mental health, and challenges viewers to consider solutions to this issue. Following the screening there was a panel discussion about the film's themes. To watch the documentary, visit www.alumni.ubc.ca/running This program took place on September 18, 2019, at the Robert H.
