Welcome to the 106th edition podcast of Women's Liberation Radio News. First up, hear aurora linnea greet the listener before handing the mic to Mary O'Neill for women's news from around the world. Next, enjoy the song "Heaven is a Place on Earth" an old 80's pop favored re-imagined by Allison Lorenzen. After the song, stay tuned for excerpts of a LIVE round table discussion the WLRN team held on January 11th with aurora to discuss her book, Man Against Being: Body Horror & the Death of Life. Finally, enjoy this month's commentary from WLRN team member Margaret Moss who speaks to us about how human society is organized around serving the alpha males, something we should have left behind long ago in our journey here on earth.   From August 12, 1966 through February 18, 1968, Thomas Merton and Rosemary Radford Ruether engaged in a vibrant exchange of nearly 40 letters. In this talk, Robinson builds on this existing exchange by placing passages from Merton's and Ruether's broader bodies of work into conversation. He specifically lifts up insights from Merton and Ruether that can aid us in imagining and incarnating sustainable lives, communities, and societies that are grounded in spirituality and committed to social justice. In the process, he considers the links between Merton's insights, Ruether's insights, and Pope Francis's promotion of an “integral ecology.” Jim Robinson is a member of the Religious Studies Department at Iona University, where he serves as Director of the Thomas Merton Contemplative Initiative and Associate Director of the Deignan Institute for Earth and Spirit. He received his PhD in Theology from Fordham University, his MTS from Harvard Divinity School, and his BA from Drew University. He is a recent ITMS Shannon Fellow and a GreenFaith Fellow. He is actively involved in a number of lay Catholic communities committed to embodying spirituality, ecology, and social justice, including Agape Community in Hardwick, MA, and Benincasa Community in Guilford, CT.

Glenys is the author of "PaGaian Cosmology: Re-inventing Earth-based Goddess Religion, which fuses the indigenous traditions of Old Europe with scientific theory, feminism, and a poetic relationship with place." This book was an outcome of her doctoral work in Social Ecology. Her newest book is "A Poiesis of the Creative Cosmos: Celebrating Her within PaGaian Sacred Ceremony," which synthesizes much of her work over the years. On today's episode we discuss:* Glenys' spiritual background, including her conversion to Catholicism in her teens, as well as her growing disillusionment with Christianity*  The "a-ha" moment that occurred when she realized, pregnant and unmarried, that knowing a female deity would allow her to view her situation without shame* What "PaGaian cosmology" means, including how it combines pagan spirituality with scientific theory to give us a new way to recognize and honor Her (the Goddess) as creative life force* Why it's important that we recognize the inherent power in language and the naming of things and life experiences  * How honoring the equinoxes, solstice and cross-quarter days found on the pagan Wheel of the Year can bring us closer to the Sacred Feminine and provides an opportunity to consciously participate in the creative dance of the cosmosShow Notes If you'd like to know whose ancestral tribal lands you currently reside on, you can look up your address here: https://native-land.ca/My book, “Home to Her: Walking the Transformative Path of the Sacred Feminine,” is now available Womancraft Publishing! Any podcast series on Feminism and Feminist Theology would be incomplete without a feminist theologian's own voice. So, since we couldn't get one on the podcast, we let Rosemary's work be her own voice. Clayton Instagram: @jcware99 Facebook: Clayton Ware Our Identity: WellHouse Church is a church seeking to reimagine what the church is. Too many people have been hurt by a church in their past, because church has become something that it was never meant to be: an event or building that we attend. At WellHouse, we believe that the people of God are the church and that the love of God should be experienced through the people of God. So, WellHouse has returned to a New Testament expression of our faith by meeting in homes and dedicating ourselves to: the teaching of the scriptures, the fellowship of the believers, the breaking of bread together, and praying together for one another. We are focused on being a genuine expression of Christian hospitality and service to our community and the people of our community. At WellHouse we want to be a place where people can Be Real, Be Relational, and Be Restored. As our leadership was dreaming up this vision, we looked at Scripture and saw that the earliest expressions of the church met in homes and it was rare that all of the believers were together. Today, most churches have found themselves spending a large portion of their budget on buildings that they rarely use. Not WellHouse. We want to keep our overhead low so we can spend our money on the things that matter, being the hands and feet of Jesus. So, we meet in the homes of our members for the majority of our meetings. Once per month, we all come together at a rented facility to devote our selves together as the whole church for the purpose of worshipping God together.
