The Miami Dolphins hired Anthony Weaver last week, and it looks like the first-year defensive coordinator is close to finalizing his coaching staff. On top of that, Sam Madison, Renaldo Hill, and a handful of other coaches won't be returning for the 2023 season. Miami added Lions defensive backs coach Brian Duker as pass game coordinator. Former Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Joe Barry was named the run game coordinator earlier in the week. It's clear that Weaver is building his preferred coaching staff, but how different could the defense look in September? This clip originally aired on the podcast: Sign, Franchise Tag, or Cut: Robert Hunt, Christian Wilkins & Connor Williams Another Dolphins Podcast is hosted by Joshua Houtz (@Houtz) and Jake Mendel (@JMendel94), with Marek Brave (@MBrave13) joining as a guest host. Miami Dolphins Tales From The Deep Born and raised in Hollywood, Florida, Travis Daniels attended South Broward High School, less than 15 miles from Hard Rock Stadium. Daniels spent four years at Louisiana State University, helping Nick Saban capture his first National Championship, before Saban would return the favor, this time as Head Coach of the Miami Dolphins, selecting Daniels in the fourth round of the 2005 NFL Draft. Danielswould go on to play eight seasons (three with Miami) before trading his cleats for a camera and launching a photography business. Diving in with O.J. and Seth, Travis discusses emulating Dolphins' cornerbacks Sam Madison and Patrick Surtain as a youth (2:43); explains the double-edged sword of being drafted by Nick Saban after playing four years under the legendary college coach (9:05) and reflects upon his draft class that included Ronnie Brown, Channing Crowder, and Matt Roth (13:55). Travis also shares how meaningful it was to team with a group of Dolphins legends he grew up watching including Madison, Jason Taylor, Zach Thomas, and Junior Seau (19:49), candidly explains the challenging shift from Saban's coaching style to that of Cam Cameron (24:58), and reveals how an interest in pictures led to the eventual establishment of Travis DanielsPhotography. Finally, Travis becomes the first ever guest to face The Fish Tank Two-Minute Drill (41:50). Contributors to this episode include Sean “DJ Prec” Todd, Alex Bitchatchi, and Dolphins Productions. Miami Dolphins Tales From The Deep Hailing from Orange County, California, Nik Needham's journey to Miami Gardens was far longer than just the 2,700+ miles between the two communities. Needham lived in four different cities and attended three different high schools as a youth before weathering a 1-23 storm his final two seasons with the UTEP Miners, only to watch seven rounds of the 2019 NFL Draft come and go without hearing his name called. The Miami Dolphins ultimately gave Needham an opportunity as an undrafted free agent and he has responded by developing into a key contributor among the team's star studded secondary. Diving into The Tank, Nik looks back on his early high school days and the struggles of jumping from school to school, while also trying to secure playing time (4:13), as well as the impact moving in with his father, renown QB Coach Steve Calhoun, had on his life both on and off the field (6:25). He explains how he was able to avoid losing focus during a 1-30 stretch between his final two college seasons and first seven games as a pro (7:44). Nik goes on to reveal how these experiences, as well as going undrafted and being cut in his first training camp have all become factors in his internal motivation and drive (10:52), and brings us into the Dolphins defensive back room where he has learned from Pro Bowl cornerbacks Xavien Howard and Byron Jones, and now will be coached by former Fins legendary corners Sam Madison and Patrick Surtain (14:51). Just having recently signed his restricted free agent tender, Nik reflects upon where he has come from, and begin able to give back to the most important people in his life (24:32). Contributors to this episode include Sean “DJ Prec” Todd, Alex Bitchatchi, and Dolphins Productions. Theme song created and performed by The Honorable SoLo D.

An Official Miami Dolphins PodcastHailing from Pascagoula, Mississippi, Terrell Buckley was recruited to Florida State University with the hopes of filling a void left by all-time great, Deion Sanders. Buckley did not disappoint as he set the Seminoles all-time record for career interceptions with 21 in just three seasons. Miami Dolphins Tales From The DeepOlindo Mare was born in South Florida and attended Cooper City High School, less than five miles away from the Miami Dolphins Training Facility in Davie, where he would spend a decade rewriting the team's record books. Mare's journey to reach his destiny was not a traditional one, however. The son of Italian immigrants, Mare's first love was soccer and it wasn't until he and a friend witnessed an uninspired performance by their high school kicker that they decided to try out for the football team during his junior season. Mare did not immediately receive a scholarship, and played for MacMurray College in Illinois before he and his father made their own kicking video that compelled the Syracuse Orange to give Olindo a shot. Mare went undrafted in 1995, but was signed to the New York Giants practice squad, where he would spend an entire season before Jimmy Johnson gave him a chance to compete for a starting role prior to the Dolphins 1996 training camp, and opportunity that would lead to a decorated 16-year NFL career. In The Tank, “Lindo” recalls kicking in an overgrown field at light posts, being inspired by a Pete Stoyanovich poster years before ultimately meeting the former Dolphins kicker, his unique relationship with Fins Special Teams Coach, Mike Westhoff, and what he refers to the most special time of his career in which he teamed with Dolphins legends including Dan Marino, Jason Taylor, Zach Thomas, Sam Madison, Patrick Surtain, and others.

What if Tua Tagovailoa has a good year, yet the Miami Dolphins still end with the #1 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and Trevor Lawrence out of Clemson is coming off another monster season? Today on the NFL Reckless Speculation podcast we're talking about the 2020 season for the Miami Dolphins and how they would handle this situation. Tom Ernisse from DolphinsTalk.com joins TC to talk about a team that has the worst defense and the worst offensive line in 2019 could turn the page and end up in the playoffs this year. Tom - and you can follow him on the Twitter right here - believes that much more likely than the Dolphins landing the #1 overall pick in 2021. Brian Flores is a much better head coach than Adam Gase, and the Miami Dolphins and set to enjoy the benefits of the work that was put in in 2019 with a much improved 2020 season. With Xavien Howard and Bryon Jones attempting to remind Dolphins fans of Patrick Surtain and Sam Madison, plus with the addition of Noah Igbinoghene via the draft, the secondary in Miami is tight. Meanwhile on offense... Yikes. The good news is that 'Fitzmagic' is back in case Tua isn't ready to go by Week 1. Though it seems Ryan FItzgerald won't be needed, as the news on Tagovailoa is nothing but positive. The worrisome part is whether the skill players around Tua are good enough. And then there's that awful offensive line from 2019. However, with the additions of PLAYER NAME at center, plus draft picks Austin Jackson (who may need more seasoning) and Robert Hunt, the line will be improved for the Miami Dolphins in 2020. Finally, the Tom and TC talk about who's the last great skill position player the Dolphins had on the roster, and the last great quarterback to suit up in Miami. Damn, it's been a tough 30 years. Our guys over at the Fish Tank, OJ McDuffie and Seth Levit, had Trick Daddy in for a fantastic interview. And we wanted to share it with you the listeners. Check it out! From the moment he was featured on the Luther “Luke” Campbell track “Scarred,” Trick Daddy instantly became a staple in the Miami music scene. After singing to Slip-N-Slide records, Trick released back-to-back albums, receiving national acclaim and climbing to the third spot on the Billboard Hot Rap Singles chart with “Nann” featuring Trina. Hits including “Shut Up,” “I’m a Thug,” “Let’s Go” and “Bet That” followed as Trick solidified his place in Miami music history. But it was the cover of his Thugs Are Us album where Trick revealed his passion for Miami sports as he donned an aqua Sam Madison jersey. Joined by his Love & Hip Hop Miami co-star, Gunplay, Trick discusses his love for the Miami Dolphins, his frustrations with Ryan Tannehill, his friendship with Channing Crowder and why he feels today’s society is lacking in family values and morals. Miami Dolphins Tales From The Deep When the Miami Dolphins traded into the second round of the 1998 draft to select Patrick Surtain out of Southern Mississippi, they landed a player who, along with Sam Madison, would form the most formidable cornerback duo in team history. Surtain would go on to play seven seasons in Miami, the last three of which concluded with a trip to the Pro Bowl. Pat hauled in 29 of his 37 career interceptions with the Dolphins, taking two back for touchdowns. He was also a physical presence on the outside, and garnered 7.5 sacks during his career. Diving in The Tank for the first time, Pat discusses the quality of players AND characters in the Dolphins DB room, his freestyle rap skills, taking it to Peyton Manning when the two were New Orleans high school star quarterbacks, and sending his son, Patrick Surtain II, to play cornerback at the University of Alabama for Nick Saban, the same man who traded him from the Dolphins to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2005.
