Call of Duty has returned to the name Modern Warfare with a 2019 take on modern combat. With it comes a new story campaign, new game modes and co-op making for a vast departure from last year's Black Ops 4. This one is more grounded, has a solid story and feels like a return to the feeling that captured us from Modern Warfare 1 and 2. In the news this week, J. Allen Brack apologizes for Blizzard's actions last month, EA announces they're bringing their games to Steam starting with Star Wars and Playstation Vue is shutting down next January. Our discussion this week revolves around Blizzcon itself. We discuss the overall feeling of the conference and their overall better showcase this year than last year's disaster with Diablo Immortal. They unveiled Diablo 4, Overwatch 2, a new WOW expansion called Shadowlands and Hearthstone Battlegrounds. We finally get to take a trip back to 1899 where the West was changing. Rockstar Games is back after 7 years of development on Red Dead Redemption 2. We have played several hours of it and have some very developed thoughts. The open world is vast, the characters are deep and the detail is unreal. Brett also plays the Blackout component of Call of Duty Black Ops 4 and talks about that for a little bit. Hint: it's intense. In our news, we have a ton of stories from things such as eSports and Drake, Epic Games getting a huge investment and Devil May Cry 5 releases a really expensive new edition. We also dive a bit deep into conversations such as Jade Raymond leaving EA, if GTA 6 was made in today's political climate and more. Austin gets his hands on Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, the next game in the franchise from Ubisoft. In this game, we're taken to Greece where we experience the Spartans, ship battles and much more throughout the game. Does this one live up to the hype? Brett also plays some extensive Call of Duty Black Ops 4 MP. There have been a lot of changes made to the formula for the better and he shares his thoughts on whether or not this game is worth returning to. In our news, Black Ops 4 and Star Citizen rake in a ton of money. Battlefield 5 releases a trailer and the developer behind Dreadnought are laying people off. Oh and have you heard of this magical new battle royale called Spellbreak? Finally, we discuss the looming release of Red Dead Redemption 2 and the article written by Vulture on the struggles of building a game to the level of RDR.
Another year, another Call of Duty game - and one everyone in the office is glued to thanks to Black Ops 4's take on the Battle Royale genre. Sounds like a good excuse for a Eurogamer... CoDcast? Host Matthew Reynolds (twitter.com/Crazyreyn) is joined by Wesley Yin-Poole (twitter.com/wyp100), Emma Kent (twitter.com/GoneEFK) and Digital Foundry's Tom Morgan (twitter.com/cataferal) to discuss whether Blackout makes for a worthwhile single-player replacement, the improvements over the beta, the surprise inclusion of split-screen, and where Call of Duty goes from here. Plus, our favourite feature of all - crashing through every window we can find.
Sometimes my father brothers travel long distances to do work outside of the country. Right now is one of those times. They're all away. All of them. So, I'm left here to fend for myself and somehow put together a podcast with no father-brothers. Luckily, I'm surrounded by talented and interesting colleagues of all kinds, and so putting together a last minute show was easy as pie. On Today's show, my good friend Vin Genova joins me to discuss his initial (but exhaustive) impressions on Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Afterward, I ask my new good friend Chris Higgins (Managing Editor at http://allgamers.com) how he's enjoying his time with Assassins's Creed Odyssey. We dive into a bunch more, too, all listed below so thank you as always for listening and enjoy the show!

This week we discuss our favorite take aways from the latest gaming conference, Gamescom 2018. We then give a quick review of Mission Impossible: Fallout, followed by a Deadliest Character segment in which we debate who would win in a fight between Ethan Hunt and James Bond. And to finish the episode we discuss Madden NFL 2019 and the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Multiplayer Beta.
As summer comes to a close and the leaves begin to brown, the gaming world goes through its own sort of transition. A handful of new titles prep for launch, including Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. But unlike previous CoD titles, Black Ops 4 represents a counter-attack on the world's biggest game, Fortnite Battle Royale. For the first time, Call of Duty is ditching a campaign and opting to introduce a new Battle Royale mode to the first-person shooter.

This week Austin plays Battle Chasers: Nightwar now that it's available on the Switch. As stated on Steam, "Battle Chasers: Nightwar is an RPG inspired by the classic console greats, featuring deep dungeon diving, turn-based combat presented in a classic JRPG format, and a rich story driven by exploration of the world." In our news this week, we talk about the Call of Duty Black Ops 4 reveal. It indeed will remove a single-player campaign but adds specialists to multiplayer, brings back zombies and introduces battle royale in the form of a mode called Blackout. We also discuss No Man's Sky getting full on multiplayer alongside it's Xbox One release and more. E3 2018 is only 3 weeks away and we have our predictions episode ready for you. It's a bit of a long one but worth a listen. We talk about what we know is coming to E3 such as Death Stranding, Days Gone and The Last of Us 2. However, there are some games up in the air such as Cyberpunk 2077, the next Halo and more. Kratos makes an epic return with the new God of War. We didn't play anything else this week because God of War is about all we could play. It's an incredible return for the franchise for both new and old fans of the franchise. It has a 95 MetaCritic score which is incredible for a game. Listen to find out why. Our news heavily focuses on battle royale with the rumors of Black Ops 4 and Battlefield V introducing it into their games. We also talk about Campo Santo (creators of Firewatch) merging into Valve which means In the Valley of the Gods will be produced by Valve. Good news indeed. Our discussion continues the story of Black Ops 4 supposedly not having a single player campaign. We discuss the question "do FPS games need a single player anymore?" We've seen great success stories with Wolfenstein and Titanfall 2 but we can't help but wonder if it's time for them to focus on one or the other but not both.
