Munaf Manji and Dave Essler talk betting for Friday. Friday's Cash That Ticket episode on the Straight Outta Vegas AM feed moved across several betting markets, with Munaf Manji and Dave Essler touching on college basketball, MLB futures, NFL offseason movement, and Friday best bets. The tone opened with some frustration after both hosts dropped their Thursday selections, but they framed it as a bump in a strong recent run and turned quickly toward Friday's card. Essler also shared details from a long volunteer shift at The Players Championship, describing the physical toll of a full day on his feet in the rain, while also reflecting on the contrast between players who treated volunteers and fans with appreciation and those who did not. He highlighted Ben Griffin and Eric Cole for thanking volunteers, and noted Patton Kizzire and Nicolai Hojgaard for handing balls to kids during tournament play. On the betting side, the MLB discussion centered on the Toronto Blue Jays. Manji noted Toronto's 94 win season, AL East title, strong home record, World Series appearance, and current win total in the 87.5 to 88.5 range. Essler said he was higher on Toronto than the market, arguing the club had strengthened its pitching despite losing Chris Bassitt, pointing to additions including Dylan Cease and other offseason moves. He questioned why the team was being priced several wins lower than last season and said he liked the over on the win total. Manji agreed, citing Vladimir Guerrero Jr., roster depth, front office aggression, and the organization's willingness to spend and make in season upgrades. He said Toronto could reach 90 wins again and backed the over 88.5. The conversation then shifted to NFL win totals and quarterback changes. Atlanta drew attention after Tua Tagovailoa joined the Falcons on a one year deal. Manji framed the move as a fresh start for a quarterback whose availability has been a recurring issue, and asked whether Atlanta could clear a 7.5 win total with new coach Kevin Stefanski, Bijan Robinson, Drake London, and Kyle Pitts in place. Essler was skeptical, raising concerns about Tagovailoa's durability, Atlanta's ceiling at quarterback, and whether Stefanski's reputation exceeds the results. He said everything would need to break right for the Falcons to get to eight wins, though he conceded the division leaves room for a team to outperform modest expectations. Manji leaned under 7.5, saying the number likely comes down to health and whether Tagovailoa can hold up for a full season. The Minnesota Vikings were also discussed after signing Kyler Murray. Manji argued that Murray was an upgrade and could benefit from Kevin O'Connell's offensive approach, even if the fit still comes with questions. Essler pushed back harder, saying Arizona's willingness to move on spoke loudly and questioning whether Murray matches what Minnesota wants to do offensively. He also noted uncertainty at quarterback overall and said the Vikings' finish last season looked less impressive under closer inspection. Both hosts leaned under Minnesota's 8.5 win total, with Essler saying the team was still moving in the wrong direction from where it stood a few years earlier. To close the show, the hosts gave out Friday best bets. Essler went with the under in Timberwolves Warriors, saying recent high scoring Minnesota games would drive an overreaction in the market and create value on a lower total in a matchup he expected to play slower. Manji backed the Pacers plus 13.5 against the Knicks, citing Indiana's recent competitiveness in the series and what he described as a growing rivalry between the teams. Essler also added a bonus bet on Kennesaw State plus 3.5. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Pro Football Hall of Famer and NFL Network Analyst Joe Thomas joined OverDrive to discuss the NFL free agency signings, Aaron Rodgers' future in the league, Tua Tagovailoa's deal to the Falcons, Tom Brady leading the Raiders, the Bills needing to make a big splash and more.
Nick and Jonathan react to Tua Tagovailoa joining the Atlanta Falcons on a one-year deal to compete with Michael Penix Jr. They debate whether Tagovailoa is a legitimate starter or a career backup while comparing his trajectory to Kyler Murray. The discussion also covers a potential trade for Dillon Gabriel and evaluates the concussion history of stars like Denzel Ward. 02:04 - Tua Tagovailoa Joins The Falcons 04:54 - Tua Versus Michael Penix Jr. 07:51 - Dillon Gabriel Trade And Concussions
Carl and Mike open up the show with Falcons talk as they react to reports of the team signing Austin Hooper, Olamide Zaccheaus, Nick Folkm Tyler Allgeier signing with the Cardinals as well as reports the team pursing Tagovailoa, which Carl expresses his dislike for the move should the Falcons truly sign the now former Dolphins quarterback.
2 O'clock Hour :00 - Carl and Mike open up the show with Falcons talk as they react to reports of the team signing Austin Hooper, Olamide Zaccheaus, Nick Folkm Tyler Allgeier signing with the Cardinals as well as reports the team pursing Tagovailoa, which Carl expresses his dislike for the move should the Falcons truly sign the now former Dolphins quarterback. :20 – Carl and Mike get back into more football and Falcons news as they react to reports of David Onyemata signing with the Jets on a one-year deal, which they guys agree the move is one which makes sense in regards to the direction the team wants to go with younger and faster players. They also share thoughts on the Falcons signing Jahan Dotson and share more thoughts on why it would be ok for the Falcons to bring in a quarterback who Michael Penix Jr. should have to compete with to earn the starting role. :40 – Carl and Mike get back into some brief Falcons talk and share thoughts on why they believe the signing of Jahan Dotson is a move with a lot of upside as the team. They then get into some Hawks talk as they share thoughts on the team winning six straight games and haw well they have played overall since the trading of Trae Young.
Just when you think the worst ideas in regards to how to fix the Jets QB situation comes from “randos” on x, along comes ESPN and outdoes all of them. https://api.spreaker.com/v2/episodes/69525921/download.mp3 From the worldwide leader in sports, an nfl executive said the Jets would have available to them, Geno Smith, Tua Tagovaiola or Kyler Murray. And no, we’re not joking. Directly from ESPN.com: This notion isn’t exactly bold — all three quarterbacks appear to not be in the long-term plans of their current franchises. But they are each former Pro Bowlers and several teams have a glaring need at the position each year. “Do the Jets get one of those three — that’s really the question I have,” an AFC executive said. “They could go young and load up for the 2027 draft of quarterbacks, but the head coach [Aaron Glenn] probably needs to win, so he might need more of a reliable option.” Miami and Arizona are saddled with large guarantees on deals with Tagovailoa and Murray, respectively. Murray would make more sense to New York, given Tagovailoa’s ties to the AFC East, but not everyone is convinced Arizona owner Michael Bidwill would pay a significant portion of Murray’s $37 million in guarantees for him to not play in Arizona. Smith’s contract is more manageable, with $18.5 million already guaranteed for 2026 (another $8 million becomes fully guaranteed on the third day of the new league year). The 35-year-old spent his first four seasons with the Jets, throwing 28 touchdowns and 36 interceptions before moving on. The Jets will need to make significant plans for a veteran passer regardless. Let’s look at each one realistically. Geno Smith: Say what you will about Woody Johnson, but even this move is beneath him. The owner is going to try to sell the fan base on a new quarterback as he raises ticket prices yet again. There is no way he’s going to sign off on bringing in a former malcontent as his production dips to unacceptable levels after enjoying a few good seasons. Tua Tagovailoa: Tua’s extensive and concerning concussion history should make him an automatic “NO” for the Jets. Especially if the plan is to draft a quarterback who won’t be rushed into action. Kyler Murray: An undesirable option who would be the “best” of the three. You can at least say Murray is young(ish), has had some success and beat you with his arm and legs. There would of course be questions about his work ethic, but the Jets would have to dismiss that and say it has been overblown or he outgrew his laid back approach. The post ESPN Exec has Three Very bad Ideas for Jets to add QB appeared first on JetNation.com - New York Jets Blog & Forum.
Local 12 Digital Sports Columnist and Editor Richard Skinner was joined by Mike Petraglia from CLNS media to analyze the Cincinnati Bengals victory over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, Dec. 21, 2025.=====================MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — Joe Burrow rebounded from his first time being shut out to throw for 309 yards and four touchdowns as the Cincinnati Bengals routed the Miami Dolphins 45-21 on Sunday.Miami (6-9) and Cincinnati (5-10) were both eliminated from playoff contention last week, but the teams insisted they were still motivated for the final three games of the season. It appeared that way in the first half. Cincinnati held a 17-14 halftime lead before blowing the game open with 28 points off four straight Dolphins turnovers.Burrow carved up Miami's defense, completing 25 of 32 throws with a 146.5 passer rating before being replaced by veteran Joe Flacco early in the fourth quarter. Two of Burrow's touchdown passes went to running back Chase Brown, from 9 and 5 yards out. Brown, who finished with 66 yards rushing and 43 receiving, also had a 12-yard touchdown run. All of Brown's TDs came in the third, making him the first player this season with three scores in a single quarter.Ja'Marr Chase caught nine passes for 109 yards. Tee Higgins had an athletic 9-yard touchdown grab in the first quarter. And former Dolphin Mike Gesicki added a 17-yard TD before doing the Griddy front of his old team.In the first start of his career, Dolphins rookie quarterback Quinn Ewers led two scoring drives before throwing a pair of interceptions as Miami unrivaled in the second half for the second straight week.Ewers, who completed 20 of 30 passes for 260 yards, was named Miami's starter earlier this week. The embattled Tua Tagovailoa was benched following last week's poor performance at Pittsburgh, in which he threw his league-leading 15th interception.Ewers, a seventh-round pick out of Texas, has hardly taken any first-team practice reps, instead running the scout team most of the season. That didn't matter much to coach Mike McDaniel, who indicated his standard has not been met from the quarterback position and felt Ewers could provide a spark.Ewers got off to a strong start Sunday. He was 10 of 12 in the first half and was decisive and effective on play-action.Tagovailoa, who led the league in passing in 2023 but has not played up to the four-year, $212.4 million contract extension signed in 2024, was Miami's emergency third quarterback behind Ewers and veteran Zach Wilson.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

It's Friday, October 3rd, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Muslim terrorist shot dead outside British synagogue on Yom Kippur On Thursday, a British terrorist of Syrian descent drove a car into people outside a synagogue in Manchester, England and then began stabbing them, killing two Jews and seriously wounding four others in a terrorist attack on Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, which is the holiest day of the Jewish calendar, reports the Associated Press. Officers shot and killed the suspect though authorities took some time to confirm he was dead because he was wearing a vest that made it appear as if he had explosives. Authorities later said he did not have a bomb. The man has been identified as 35-year-old Jihad Al-Shamie, a British citizen of Syrian descent, where 87% of the population is Muslim, reports the BBC. The Metropolitan Police in London, who lead counter-terrorism policing operations, declared the rampage a terrorist attack. Assistant Commissioner Laurence Taylor said two other suspects were arrested, though he provided no further information on the arrests. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, an atheist, denounced the attack on the Jewish synagogue. STARMER: “Earlier today, on Yom Kippur, the holiest day for the Jewish community, a vile individual committed a terrorist attack that attacked Jews because they are Jews, and attacked Britain because of our values. “So many Jewish families first came to this country as a place of refuge fleeing the greatest evil ever inflicted on a people and Britain welcomed them. Communities like the one attacked in Manchester provided safety, but also the security that comes from a promise that this is a country that stands up to hatred and that we don't just provide refuge, we provide a home for so many Jewish families, that is the story of Britain. “But Britain is also a country where Jewish buildings, synagogues, even schools, require round-the-clock protection, where dedicated, specialist security is necessary because of the daily threat of antisemitic hatred. Today's horrific incident shows why.” Antisemitic incidents in the United Kingdom have hit record levels following Hamas' October 7, 2023, attack on Israel and Israel's ensuing military campaign in Gaza, according to Community Security Trust, an advocacy group for British Jews that works to eliminate antisemitism. More than 1,500 antisemitic incidents in Britain were reported in the first half of the year. Pope Leo blasts Trump's hard-line immigration policy as not “pro-life” Pope Leo XIV strongly criticized President Donald Trump's hardline immigration policies, questioning whether they were in line with the Catholic church's “pro-life” teachings, reports The Guardian. Outside the papal summer residence in the Alban Hills, near Rome, this is what Pope Leo, the first American pope, said about Trump in response to a question from a U.S. journalist. POPE LEO: “Someone who says that I'm against abortion, but I'm in agreement with the inhuman treatment of immigrants who are in the United States, I don't know if that's pro-life.” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt reacted. LEAVITT: “I would reject there is inhumane treatment of illegal immigrants in the United States under this administration, there was, however, significant, inhumane treatment of illegal immigrants in the previous administration as they were being trafficked and raped and beaten and in many cases, killed over our United States southern border.” Texas megachurch pastor pleads guilty to sexually abusing a child The founder of a Texas megachurch who resigned last year after a woman in Oklahoma accused the pastor of sexually abusing her in the 1980s pleaded guilty Thursday to five counts of lewd and indecent acts with a child, reports KLTV. Robert Morris, age 64, entered the pleas before a judge in Oklahoma's Osage County as part of a plea agreement, according to the state attorney general's office. The abuse began in 1982 when the victim was 12 and Morris was a traveling evangelist staying in Hominy, Oklahoma, with her family. The abuse continued over the next four years. Numbers 32:23 says, “You have sinned against the Lord, and be sure your sin will find you out.” Morris was the senior pastor of Gateway Church in the Dallas-Fort Worth suburb of Southlake, where he led one of the nation's largest megachurches until his resignation. He was indicted earlier this year by an Oklahoma grand jury. Under the plea agreement, Morris received a 10-year suspended sentence with the first six months to be served in an Oklahoma County Jail. Christian wedding photographer wins in court A federal court has sided with a Christian photographer challenging misguided mandates she believes would force her to take pictures at a homosexual wedding despite her religious objections, reports The Christian Post. This is the latest example of U.S. courts ruling in favor of religious liberty protections. In the opinion published Tuesday, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Kentucky sided with photographer Chelsey Nelson in her ongoing legal dispute with the city of Louisville. Miami Dolphins player Tua Tagovailoa credits Jesus after win And finally, Miami Dolphins player Tua Tagovailoa (Tah-go-VYE-lo-a) thanked and glorified God after his team's win in a recent game, marking the latest example of the athlete using his platform to highlight his Christian faith, reports The Christian Post. On Monday, the Miami Dolphins beat the New York Jets 27-21 in a game between the two National Football League teams. In a post-game interview with Peter Schrager following Monday's game, Tagovailoa did not hesitate to give God the glory. Listen. SCHRAGER: “You come out with a victory. All three facets dominated. The Jets today, your impression and take on the game." TAGOVAILOA: “First and foremost, all glory belongs to God, my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Just want to thank Him for this victory, for keeping us safe for the most part. My prayers go out to all the guys that got injured tonight. My boy Tyreke. It was a team win. That's all it was. That's all I could say about this. It was hard fought to the end. Just wanted to make sure that I glorified my Lord and Savior, Jesus, Christ.” His post-game interview was not the first time the athlete has put his Christian faith on display. In 2018, as a college football player for the University of Alabama, Tagovailoa reacted to his team's win against the Georgia Bulldogs by proclaiming, “First and foremost, I'd just like to thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. With Him, all things are possible.” 1 Corinthians 10:31 says, “Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Friday, October 3rd, in the year of our Lord 2025. We are back and looking back at last weeks news and looking very much ahead at all the great things yet to come! NFL We start with NFL week one with the Ravens Chiefs with the Chiefs winning, by a toe. We are still not sure about the new kick off, I mean let's be real just start it on the 20 and keep it moving. The Refs were flag happy about formation, but they settelted in after the first drive. Ravens Defense looked great and they are a solid team, for the first game of the season they really held their own and will only improve. And then we come to Thursday nights game with Ty Johnson's Bills where he had a great game FYI they won handily over the Miami Dolphins Which brings us to Tua: He suffered another concussion, in the 4th qtr. Tua's body went limp and his right arm exhibited "fencing" behavior, the unnatural position following a traumatic brain injury. He stayed on the ground for a few moments. Miami's training staff helped him off the field and escorted Tagovailoa to the locker room. He was ruled out minutes later. This begs the question again… Should he hang up the cleats? WNBA Playoffs start this week with the following teams making a run for the championship spot. New York Liberty, 31-6 Minnesota Lynx, 27-9 (3.5 GB) Connecticut Sun, 26-10 (4.5 GB) Las Vegas Aces, 23-13 (7.5 GB) Seattle Storm, 22-14 (8.5 GB) Indiana Fever, 19-18 (12 GB) Phoenix Mercury, 17-19 (13.5 GB) Chicago Sky, 13-23 (17.5 GB) Atlanta Dream, 12-24 (18.5 GB) Washington Mystics, 12-24 (18.5 GB) Caitlin Clark has the all time assit record this year at 317 beating last years record. Introduction: Host Michael Rand starts with comments made by Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa about his former head coach and current Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores. Tagovailoa was critical of Flores coaching style, particularly in contrast to current coach Mike McDaniel, and said of Flores, "You have a terrible person telling you things that you don't want to hear or probably shouldn't be hearing, you're going to start believing that about yourself." Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell was asked about it on Monday, and Flores figures to be asked about it Tuesday. Rand also dissects the Twins' 5-3 loss to the Padres on Monday. Rookie Zebby Matthews got into trouble with two uncharacteristic walks, but it was a strike that hurt him the most. 12:00: Soccer writer Jon Marthaler joins Rand to talk about the roster shakeup for Minnesota United. The Loons brought in several players during the recently completed transfer window. Combined with a schedule that has had United off for more than three weeks, it gives them an air of mystery when MLS play resumes Saturday. 32:00: Mike Gundy wants to focus on football, an increasingly difficult task.
