What actually happens to a patient a year into real, supervised peptide therapy? In the final episode of our peptides series, Dr. Melissa Jones and host Jamie Preston close the loop on the story that opened this whole series — and get honest about what changed, what didn't, and what every provider and patient still needs to know. This episode goes beyond the science into the human side of the story: what it actually feels like when chronic pain resolves, when weight loss becomes life-changing rather than cosmetic, and when a skeptical clinician becomes one of the most passionate advocates in the building. Jamie also shares his own journey — turning 50, managing diabetes, and reaching his goal weight — as a real example of what supervised, responsible care can look like over time. In this episode, you'll hear: An update on the chronic pain patient from Episode 1 — where he is now, and what's kept his results sustainable What the actual clinical data shows about supervised BPC-157 therapy, and where its limits are Why GLP-1 success is about far more than the number on the scale — confidence, mobility, and mental health The advice Dr. Jones gives new providers who feel nervous bringing up peptides with patients The single biggest myth about peptides she wants to put to rest for good The three things every patient should understand before they ever start a peptide This is the episode that ties the whole series together — not as a sales pitch for peptides, but as a case for doing this the right way, with the right people, for the right reasons. It's the last episode in this run, but it won't be the last time we talk about this. www.YourHealth.Org

What if the peptide you just ordered online isn't wrong — it's just wrong for you? In Episode 2 of our peptides series, clinical pharmacist Dr. Melissa Jones takes us inside the actual decision-making process providers use to match a peptide to a patient, and why skipping that process is how people end up wasting money, or worse, hurting themselves. Host Jamie Preston and Dr. Jones dig into the real science: what a peptide is, how peptides signal the body, and why a healthy foundation — hormones and gut health — has to come before any peptide is even considered. From there, they cover the wide menu of options (tissue repair, skin and hair, sexual health, growth hormone support, metabolic health, sleep and stress) and what it actually means to “stack” or “cycle” peptides responsibly. In this episode, you'll hear: Why there isn't — and won't be — one peptide that does it all, and what that means for how providers build a plan How stacking and cycling actually work, and where cost becomes a real factor in the decision The difference between FDA-approved peptide uses (like Tesamorelin for visceral fat) and the anecdotal dosing happening across the wellness world The real danger in reconstituting and self-dosing peptides ordered online, explained in plain terms What responsible, supervised GLP-1 (Mounjaro, Ozempic, tirzepatide) therapy looks like — and what goes wrong with compounded, unregulated versions The specific list of patients who should avoid peptides or use extra caution, and why providers need to know it cold If you've ever wondered whether a peptide could actually help you — or wondered what your provider is really weighing before saying yes — this episode gives you the real answer, not the Instagram version. www.YourHealth.Org

Ramona Roemer and Andreas Heigl, co-founders of VIMED CELL and authors of Unlongevity, argue that longevity isn't achieved by accumulating more interventions—it comes from restoring integration across every dimension of life.In this conversation, we explore why optimization culture can unintentionally work against long-term health, how intervention overload creates biological and mental fatigue, and why purpose, emotional health, and clarity deserve as much attention as biomarkers. I am not nearly as concerned about my lifespan as my health span. I'd rather live 10 years less but be very capable physically and mentally than to linger an extra 10 years while physically and mentally impaired. I'm not much for gimmicks and hacks that address one thing and are promoted as cure alls. I don't believe in it. So with all that said, in this episode we are talking about muscle. My expert on the topic is Dr Gabrielle Lyon. I've known of Gabrielle for a long, long time through Functional Medicine circles. Her focus and expertise is Muscle-Centric Medicine. I am now a believer that a certain amount of muscle mass is critical for healthy aging. Not just for your physical capabilities, but also your mental abilities. I'm convinced all aspects of our bodies are intrinsically connected and the muscle in your bicep doesn't just help you lift things well, that muscle works to fortify and fuel your entire body, brain included. Since this recording, I'd say Gabrielle's notoriety has exploded. She has become the #1 evangelist, spokesperson, and recognized expert for the benefits of muscle and a primary leader in health and wellness overall. That said, I sometimes struggle with possibly a bit too much focus being given to muscle alone, and how much. I still enjoy running and riding and hiking and walking and endurance activities. But, I maintain a consistent, almost daily routine of push ups, pull ups, and dips, and will probably add more resistance activities over time. But I think you will gain valuable info from this discussion on aspects of muscle that you can address right away. I reference some of Gabrielle's book, Forever Strong: A New, Science-Based Strategy for Aging Well, and you can find her podcast at The Dr Gabrielle Lyon Show. We're revisiting one of our favorite Body Pod conversations as part of our Best of the Body Pod series. Dr. Courtney Conley makes the case that most women's balance, hip, and knee issues actually start at the feet, not the joint that hurts. Her breakdown of why weak feet and years of restrictive footwear throw off everything up the chain, from pelvic stability to how your brain reads the ground under you, is worth another listen. Many women deal with chronic pain, plantar fasciitis, poor squat mechanics, and a higher fall risk without ever realizing their feet are the root cause. We break down how modern footwear, weak feet, loss of sensory input, and overreliance on orthotics can disrupt movement patterns, pelvic stability, hormone regulation, and nervous system function. Dr. Conley explains the powerful connection between the feet, pelvis, core, and brain, and why rebuilding foot strength is essential for aging well, preventing injuries, and maintaining confidence in movement. This conversation delivers practical, realistic strategies for improving foot strength and mobility, including footwear choices, toe strength exercises, calf training, balance work, and safe transitions away from orthotics. Whether you're dealing with foot pain, instability, or want to build a stronger body from the ground up, this episode offers actionable insights to help women move better and stay resilient for decades.Hailey Happens Fitness Membership is the only fitness investment that grows with you! For years, The Aging Well Podcast has emphasized six evidence-based pillars of healthy aging: exercise and physical activity, maintaining a healthy body composition, a healthy diet, not smoking, sleep hygiene, and social connectedness. Together, these behaviors are strongly associated with longer life, reduced disease risk, and improved quality of life. But is there a missing pillar? In this episode, Dr. Jeff Armstrong and co-host Corbin Bruton explore the case for adding Purpose as a seventh pillar of aging well. Drawing upon the SPIES Model of well-centered fitness, the work of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, Abraham Maslow's later theories of self-transcendence, and Scott Barry Kaufman's book Transcend, they examine whether healthy aging is about more than preserving function and avoiding disease. The conversation explores aging as a process of transformation rather than decline, the role of Purpose in physical and psychological health, the possibility of lifelong growth in consciousness, and the idea that human flourishing may involve moving toward an ever-receding horizon of wholeness. Together, Jeff and Corbin consider whether Purpose is not merely an outcome of aging well, but an essential ingredient in the process itself. Please, support The Aging Well Podcast by hitting the ‘like' button, subscribing/following the podcast, sharing with a friend, and….Tip Jar! Drawing on decades of clinical experience and her new book Invincible, Dr. Comite explains why the fear around hormone therapy is based on outdated, flawed research. She believes testosterone, progesterone, quality sleep, and resistance training can meaningfully improve brain function at any age, even into your 90s. Dr. Comite also stresses that "normal range" lab results can be misleading, and that individualized, detail-oriented care outperforms one-size-fits-all evidence-based medicine. Today, she's helping women around the world challenge outdated beliefs about aging and embrace a future filled with purpose, possibility, and joy.Together, Marqueeta and Jo discuss:• What self-ageism is, and how it quietly shapes our lives• Why so many women feel invisible after 50• The surprising "good news" about growing older• Why it's never too late to start over• The difference between reinventing yourself and becoming more of who you truly are• The importance of community, curiosity, and letting go• How changing the way we think about aging can change the way we liveIf you've ever wondered whether your best years are behind you, this conversation will leave you feeling hopeful, empowered, and ready to embrace what's next.At Ageless Glamour Girls™, we believe growing older isn't about becoming less - but about becoming more.********************** From the Desk of Jo Blackwell:I write about the stories we carry, and how they shape the way we experience midlife and growing older.  I've always been interested in stories: those that are true, those we are told, and those we tell ourselves. In ancient cultures, storytellers were entrusted with remembering and retelling the stories of the people - helping individuals and communities make sense of who they were, where they came from, and what mattered.  I still believe that role matters. Being seen and heard can be as powerful as being loved. Taking the time to truly listen to another human being is a quiet, radical act, and one that feels increasingly necessary in an emotionally disconnected world  Over my lifetime, I've spent a great deal of time unpicking my own stories in search of truth and meaning. It has been a long, sometimes painful, but ultimately deeply fulfilling process. As I've grown older, I've found myself arriving, occasionally, at a place that feels like peace.  My working life has always revolved around stories:                                                       • As a brand photographer, I helped entrepreneurs tell their stories more clearly, so they could attract clients aligned with who they really were.                                    • Through one-to-one coaching, I supported women in midlife to question the stories holding them back and to begin shaping new ones that reflected who they were becoming.                                                                                                                       • Today, I write about the culture of ageing, and in my fiction, women in midlife and beyond are very often at the heart of the story.                                                                                                                                                                                               Alongside this work, I've been married for more than four decades. We have four children, four children-in-law, and ten grandchildren. They are my greatest blessing, and together, they form the most meaningful story of my life. *********************** CONNECT WITH JO:*Book: Ageing Wonderfully Well: The Good News about Midlife and Growing Older:  https://geni.us/AgeingWonderfullyWell*Website: https://www.joblackwell.co.uk/ *YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@JoBlackwell-MidlifeAndBeyond*Substack: https://joblackwellmidlifeandbeyond.substack.com *IG:  @joblackwell_midlifeandbeyond    Support the showSupport Ageless Glamour Girls™:www.agelessglamourgirls.com        www.linkedin.com/in/marqueetacurtishaynes       https://www.youtube.com/@agelessglamourgirls      https://agelessglamourgirlsboutique.com/Instagram @agelessglamourgirlsFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/agelessglamourgirlsPrivate (AGG) FB Group: The Ageless Café: https://www.facebook.com/groups/theagelesscafeTikTok: @agelessglamourgirlshttps://www.shopltk.com/explore/AgelessGlamourGirls Podcast Producers: Ageless Glamour Girls™ and Purple Tulip Media, LLC

In this episode of Wake Up, Look Up, Pastor Zach explores a recent article and study suggesting that aging is not simply a story of decline, but often includes measurable improvement in both cognitive and physical health. He highlights how a person's view of aging–particularly optimism–can significantly shape their experience of growing older. He then connects this insight to Scripture, showing how believers are called to flourish, bear fruit in every season of life, and steward their lives for God's glory even into old age.Have an article you'd like Pastor Zach to discuss? The Anti-Hype Beauty Episode: Good Housekeeping's April Franzino on Testing, Trust, and the Aging Well Core Promise to the Listener The Not Old Better Show Good Housekeeping Good Better Best Interview Series Beauty advice has moved from the department store counter to the magazine page to the endless scroll. That shift matters, especially for adults 60+. Today, consumers are trying to make sense of sunscreens, retinol, dark spot correctors, fragrance, skin-tightening products, "anti-aging" claims, and social media recommendations that often sound more certain than the evidence allows. On this episode of The Not Old Better Show, I speak with April Franzino, Senior Beauty and Style Director at Good Housekeeping, Woman's Day, and Prevention. April brings the perspective of a journalist, editor, product tester, and consumer guide. We talk about the Good Housekeeping Beauty Awards, the role of Beauty Lab testing, why sunscreen remains central to skin care, and how readers can separate practical guidance from polished salesmanship. For me, the larger question is trust. Who has earned it? What has been tested? What should we question before spending money? Experience matters. Longevity matters. And in beauty, as in health journalism, confidence should never outrun evidence.

What if your diagnosis wasn't the beginning of the end — but the beginning of everything? Eight years ago, Bettina Gordon-Wayne was handed a breast cancer diagnosis on a beautiful spring day in Washington, D.C. She had a four-year-old at home, a healthy lifestyle, and zero warning signs. Today, she is eight years cancer-free and biologically 12 years younger than her chronological age. And she has the data to prove it. Bettina spent 30 years as an international journalist interviewing world leaders, billionaires, and global experts. She was always the one asking the questions — until life gave her a story she couldn't cover from a distance. So she turned her investigative rigor toward the science of longevity, logged thousands of hours of research, and rebuilt her health from the inside out. Her TEDx talk "Aging Well, Aging in Reverse" surpassed 100,000 views. Her book The Joy of Later Motherhood sparked a global conversation. And her program, Younger With Age, is helping high-achieving midlife women do exactly what she did — reverse their biological age with data that proves it. In this episode, Dr. Anna and Bettina cover: Why biological age matters far more than the candles on your birthday cake How Bettina conceived naturally at 43 after a year of failed attempts — and what changed The mindset shift that separates women who age slowly from women who don't Why healthy living didn't prevent cancer — and how it saved her life anyway The unsexy, free anti-aging strategy that outperforms every biohack How to become a "beauty hunter" and lower cortisol through intentional joy The two words to say to anyone who tells you your best years are behind you Memorable Quotes: We can have true agency over the way we age. — Bettina Gordon-Wayne We can truly get younger with age.— Bettina Gordon-Wayne Get out of the victimhood and become defiant.— Bettina Gordon-Wayne The goal is not just to get older. What if the way you're aging has more to do with your metabolic health than your age itself? In this episode of Optimal Metabolism, I sit down with longevity physician Dr. Jennifer Timmons to discuss the powerful connection between insulin resistance, hormone health, disease prevention, and aging well. Dr. Timmons shares how her experience in traditional primary care led her to pursue advanced training in functional medicine, precision medicine, and longevity medicine. Together, we discuss what it really means to optimize health as we age, why insulin resistance accelerates many age-related conditions, and how women can navigate menopause with a long-term health strategy in mind. We also explore the growing interest in peptide therapies, where they may fit into a comprehensive health plan, and the foundational lifestyle habits that matter far more than the latest longevity trends. If you're interested in protecting your metabolic health, maintaining vitality as you age, and increasing your healthspan—not just your lifespan—this episode is for you. WHAT WE DISCUSSED: Why insulin resistance may accelerate the aging process The difference between lifespan and healthspan Menopause as a long-term metabolic and cardiovascular transition The role of muscle mass in healthy aging How longevity medicine differs from traditional healthcare Preventive testing and early disease detection Peptide therapies: benefits, limitations, and considerations Common mistakes people make when pursuing longevity Why consistency often beats biohacking Practical steps women can take today to age well FOR MORE INFORMATION FROM DR.
