Samsung heeft de Galaxy S26-lijn gepresenteerd, en tech-journalist Stijn Goossens bekeek voor BNR's De Schaal van Hebben de S26 Ultra en de Galaxy Buds4 Pro. De lijn bestaat uit drie modellen, de S26, S26+ en S26 Ultra, en is verkrijgbaar vanaf 11 maart. Prijzen starten bij 999 euro voor de instap-S26, en vanaf 1449 euro voor de Ultra. Wie de S26 Ultra naast zijn voorganger legt, ziet weinig verschil. Design, camera en batterij zijn vrijwel ongewijzigd. Samsung heeft de Ultra qua ontwerp bovendien bewust dichter bij het reguliere S26-model gebracht, voor meer uniformiteit in de lijn. De voornaamste hardware-upgrade is de Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, die meer rekenkracht levert voor AI-taken. In Europa draait de reguliere S26 op Samsungs eigen Exynos-chip, voor het eerst gebouwd op 2nm-architectuur. Alle modellen starten nu op 256GB opslag. De enige echte innovatie is het privacyscherm van de Ultra. Het scherm zet de pixels die zorgen voor brede kijkhoeken uit, waardoor het scherm onleesbaar wordt voor wie van opzij meekijkt. Er zijn twee standen: één waarbij contrast behouden blijft, en een maximale privacymodus met een lichtgrijze tint. De functie is instelbaar per app en zelfs voor enkel notificaties van specifieke apps. Opvallend en praktisch bruikbaar, al is een privacyschermprotector een goedkoper alternatief. De AI-functies zijn verder uitgebreid, maar veel daarvan werken niet in het Nederlands, en de combinatie van Bixby, Gemini en Perplexity maakt het geheel onoverzichtelijk. De Galaxy Buds4 Pro scoort beter. Het vorige model was weinig origineel in design, maar de nieuwe versie heeft een eigen smoel, zit comfortabel en klinkt uitstekend.
