Spotify gaat echte artiesten onderscheiden van AI-artiesten met een groen verificatievinkje, vergelijkbaar met de vinkjes die we kennen van sociale media. Het platform wil daarmee een antwoord geven op de groeiende stroom nep-artiesten die met behulp van AI op het platform verschijnt. Stijn Goossens bespreekt het in deze Tech Update. Spotify lanceert "Verified by Spotify": een groen vinkje dat verschijnt op artiestprofielen en in zoekresultaten. Het moet luisteraars zekerheid geven dat ze naar een echte artiest luisteren en niet naar een AI-gegenereerd profiel. Profielen die primair AI-gegenereerde muziek of een AI-persona vertegenwoordigen, komen niet in aanmerking voor verificatie. Vorig jaar dook AI-band The Velvet Sundown op in de Discover Weekly-playlists van gebruikers, zonder enige aanduiding dat het geen menselijke artiest betrof. Later verschenen AI-nummers op de officiële Spotify-pagina's van overleden artiesten, zonder toestemming van hun nabestaanden. Streamingdienst Deezer meldde eerder deze maand dat inmiddels 44 procent van alle dagelijkse uploads volledig AI-gegenereerd is, zo'n 75.000 nummers per dag. Voor het vinkje kijkt Spotify niet naar legitimatiebewijzen, maar naar gedrag: heeft de artiest concerten, sociale media, merchandise? Spotify zegt dat 99 procent van de artiesten die actief worden opgezocht uiteindelijk een vinkje krijgt. De uitrol start de komende weken. Het is overigens al het derde verificatiesysteem van Spotify: het blauwe vinkje uit 2017 werd eerder dit jaar al vervangen door het label "Registered Artist". Verder in deze Tech Update Apple boekt beste tweede kwartaal ooit met iPhone, maar waarschuwt voor chiptekorten. Omzet en winst lagen flink hoger, maar CEO Tim Cook waarschuwt dat de productiekosten voor iPhones en Macs oplopen door problemen in de chipketen. Bij de nieuwe iPhones in september is een prijsverhoging mogelijk. Tim Cook kondigt aan de Trump-tarieven terug te vorderen. In deze aflevering van De Schaal van Hebben test Stijn Goossens twee smartphones in het middensegment: de Samsung Galaxy A57 en de Nothing Phone (4a) Pro, beiden rond de 500 euro en beiden de afgelopen maand gelanceerd. Maar wat hebben deze middenklasse-smartphones te bieden voor dat geld? De Samsung Galaxy A57 is de opvolger van de populaire A56. De A-serie is razend populair in het middensegment: degelijk, all-round en zonder poespas. De A57 heeft een 6,7 inch AMOLED-scherm met 120Hz, een Exynos 1680-processor, een driecamerasysteem met 50 megapixel hoofdlens en een batterij van 5.000 mAh. Het toestel is IP68-gecertificeerd, slechts 6,9 mm dun en krijgt zes jaar Android-updates. Toch is Stijn dit jaar voor het eerst kritisch. Ten opzichte van de A56 is er vrijwel niets veranderd: nieuwe chip, iets dunner, nieuw kleurtje. Camera, batterij en scherm zijn nagenoeg identiek aan vorig jaar. Tegelijkertijd is de adviesprijs met zo'n 10 procent gestegen naar 529 euro voor 128 GB. De A56 is inmiddels te koop voor rond de 320 euro, wat de A57 op dit moment moeilijk te verdedigen maakt. De Nothing Phone (4a) Pro is een Britse smartphone met een uitgesproken identiteit. Normaal staat het merk bekend om transparante achterkanten en lichtgevende strips, de zogeheten glyphs, die oplichten bij notificaties. De (4a) Pro doet het anders: voor het eerst een aluminium achterkant, strak en premium. Naast de drie camera's zit een opvallend rond scherm, iets kleiner dan een horloge, waarop de tijd staat, animaties verschijnen bij notificaties en dat zelfs als camerapreview kan dienen. De telefoon heeft een 6,83 inch AMOLED-scherm met 144Hz, een Snapdragon 7 Gen 4-processor en een telelens met 3,5 keer optische zoom. De adviesprijs begint bij 499 euro voor 128 GB. Concurrentie in dit segment is groot, van Chinese merken tot Google en Apple met oudere modellen. Meta cierra el metaverso: 60 mil millones de dólares perdidos en 5 años La división Reality Labs de Meta anunció el cierre definitivo de Horizon Worlds para el 15 de junio de 2026, poniendo fin a uno de los experimentos tecnológicos más costosos de la historia reciente. Las cifras hablan por sí solas: más de 60,000 millones de dólares en pérdidas operativas acumuladas entre 2020 y 2025, con ingresos totales del período que apenas alcanzaron los 11,800 millones. Solo en 2025, la división registró una pérdida de 19,100 millones de dólares —un 8.3% más que el año anterior— y en el cuarto trimestre el déficit llegó a 6,000 millones en un solo trimestre. La clave para que funcione correctamente es conectarlo con APIs de LLMs potentes y plugins específicos según el caso de uso. “Lo que comenzó en enero como un proyecto interesante —OpenClaw— ha evolucionado a tal grado que empresas de hospedaje y la propia NVIDIA lo ven como un potencial muy grande” — Vincent Quezada La guerra en Medio Oriente y su impacto directo en el precio de la tecnología Tres semanas después del inicio del conflicto entre Estados Unidos e Israel contra Irán, el precio del barril de petróleo superó los 100 dólares —frente a los 55 dólares de los meses previos— y el cierre del Estrecho de Hormuz reconfiguró las rutas de suministro global. En São Paulo, el litro de combustible pasó de 5.40 reales a principios de marzo a 6.60–6.80 reales al 20 de marzo; en México, la gasolina magna se mantiene en 23.67 a 23.99 pesos por litro, pero el impacto en fletes ya se siente en los precios de importación. RIP Dennis Schreiner on Linux Mint and BeeLink Sluggishness I just wanted to say that I have a Beelink with Ryzen 5800 U and Linux Mint is not running well for me on it either. I think Mint is the Problem since it switched to Ubuntu. I have since had a lot of performance issues with it. Also in the Top Linux List it's going downhill. I wouldn't now recommend Mint anymore for beginners and low-spec'd PCs. Since I switched my BeeLink to Fedora Linux (KDE Plasma version) it's very smooth-running again. Also Fedora is pretty easy to operate. Bazzite and Nobara are also beginner-friendly with low spec requirements. I'm enjoying TA, thank you :) CachyOS Ujjwal Sehgal on Retroid Pocket Classic I bought this thinking I'd use it purely for retro gaming but it's starting to become a favourite overall retro gadget. Beautiful OLED touchscreen. Runs Android 14. Google Play store present. Snapdragon G1 Gen 2. 128GB of storage. microSD slot. Icing on the cake is the head phone jack. I find myself using it to listen to music when I'm away from my phone. The squareish screen is great for watching old 4:3 TV content. It kind of feels like what GameBoy could have been if it were released today! I remember using my original PSP in the same way when I was younger. Feels like a nostalgic digital detox device - as the screen aspect ratio is awful for email, WhatsApp or any social media apps!
