Boogie Down Productions - led by KRS-One - was an inventive group of the time, taking KRS' superior lyrical ability and combining it with production that was initially highly dynamic at first. With five albums, the death of Scott La Rock marring the history and plenty of lore, it makes for an iconic story in Hip-Hop history.TIMESTAMPS:Weekly Music Roundup - (0:57)Ben:Drake x PARTYNEXTDOOR - $ome $exy $ongs 4 UWestside Gunn - 12Charlie: BNMO - The Eleventh HourAnthony Joseph - Rowing up River to Get Our Names BackBexBlu, Renelle 893 - THE BUZZchlothegod - I Feel Different Every DayJohn Glacier - Like A RibbonMereba - The Breeze Grew a FireRizzle Kicks - Competition is for LosersBrother Ali & ANT - Satisfied SoulTopic Intro/Ben's Research House - (13:04)Criminal Minded - (16:58)By All Means Necessary - (27:35)Ghetto Music: The Blueprint of Hip Hop (Charlie accidentally skips this one and talks about Edutainment, we get there eventually) - (36:25)Edutainment - (44:49)Sex and Violence - (46:33)Lighter Note - (54:35)Chelsea Reject's Funeral GoFundMeThanks for listening. By All Means Necessary is the second album from American hip hop group Boogie Down Productions, released on May 31, 1988[1] on Jive Records. After the 1987 murder of DJ-producer Scott La Rock, MC KRS-One moved away from the violent themes that dominated his debut, Criminal Minded, and began writing socially conscious songs using the moniker the Teacher.[2]Accompanied by minimalist production and hard-hitting drum beats, KRS-One covers social issues that include government and police corruption, safe sex, government involvement in the drug trade, and violence in the hip hop community. As of September 25, 1989, the album was certified gold in sales by the Recording Industry Association of America.[3] Both the album cover, depicting KRS-One, and the album title make reference to Malcolm X. The album's cover art is a reference to the iconic photo of Malcolm X peering through his window while holding a M1 carbine rifle. The album title is a modification of Malcolm X's famous phrase "By Any Means Necessary."

Whats up Im Dee Welcome Chance Formore We talking bout the top five hip hop storytellers from 1988 to 1993 The week we gonna do KRS-1 a legend in the game, they say arguably the best Hip Hop performer ever. You can get a argument for that in true Hip Hop circles and we here to preserve the culture. When I say true hip circles, its not to diss rappers. I'm not against rap or rappers (chuckle) but I'm talking lyricist. KRS is one of the top ones, hes  known for destroying shows, formerly of (BDP) Boggie Down Productions, R.I.P. Scott La Rock with D-Nice the whole crew. So you kinda gotta say Boogie Down Productions and KRS-1 cuz some of this music is from Boogie Down Productions and some of it just from KRS-1 either way. I'm trying to help preserve the culture, put it down for the youngins, who love hip hop.  I don't want Lil Xan to be the face of hip hop, I don't want lil pump to be the face of hip hop.  I'm not mad at it, its a place for it but best believe that place, is underneath, the motherfuckers who started this. The ones who had to get robbed not robbbed literally but by the record companies. So what I'm gonna do is preserve the culture as much as possible, Youtube is dope for that, so thats what I'm doing, thats all this show about. If you into things like that Like Share and Subscribe I'll be bringing more this only episode 2 out of the top 5 story tellers, last week we had Scarface (Geto Boys) dope m.c. Like Share and Subscribe I'm a keep repeating that, cuz older people, (chuckle) don't know subscribing is free. I learned everybody don't know that, you might know that, it might seem simple and plain but some people think you gotta pay. The little thing that say Subscribe click that and you don't have to pay no money. The episode will come right to you, if you see the little bell, tap that notification and all my episodes will come directly to your phone, you wont have to search for it or nothing. Thanks and keep preserving Hip Hop cuz we don't want it to turn into rap, thats what we so, Hip Hop is what we are, best way I can describe it. Like Share Subscribe once again Peace

As an entertainment business entrepreneur, Paul Stewart has done it all. He’s started multiple companies. He’s worked in music, film, fashion, and now books. He’s had years with multiple mega-hits, and years where he just barely scraped by. His story is about the struggle: Wake up everyday and hustle. Stay true to what you know. Connect with good people. Be generous. Never stop fighting. Here are just a few of the gems that come out of our interview: On the keys to his success: “I got down differently than other people. I thought the parties were important. I do some of my best networking running the streets at night and connecting with people.” On the people running major record labels: “They are not creative people, so they hire uncreative people underneath them and its like, ego driven maniacs, nepotism and just unqualified.” The problem with book publishers: “There is just so much institutionalized racism in regards to urban culture and hip hop and things like that. It’s just a lack of understanding of what people are interested in because they are not in touch with this world. Most of the people that are the decision makers have a total disconnect to urban culture. Basically just the wrong people making decisions.” On the artists he’s worked with: The Pharcyde, House of Pain, Warren G., Coolio, Montel Jordan, Freestyle Fellowship, and so many more And movies he music supervised: Poetic Justice, Dear White People, Barbershop, 2 Fast 2 Furious, Four Brothers, Hustle and Flow we won the Oscar Subjects featured in his books: Murder Dog Magazine, Pimp C, Curtis Snow, Kendrick Lamar, ASAP Rocky, Drake, Lil Wayne, Bobby Brown, Too Short, Iceberg Slim, E-40, Marcus Garvey, Bushwick Bill, Scott La Rock, Tupac, Eazy E, Snoop Dogg, Cypress Hill, and many many more.
