In dieser Folge sitzt einer der kompromisslosesten Independent-Artists im Deutschrap bei uns: Crystal F. Geboren als Hauke Schmidt und aufgewachsen in einem Dorf in Niedersachsen, hat er schon Mitte der 2000er angefangen Musik zu machen und später die Crew Ruffiction mitgegründet. Heute steht er für düsteren Underground-Rap, der Horrorcore-Ästhetik mit persönlicher Ehrlichkeit verbindet. Was viele nur aus seinen extremen Texten kennen: Hinter der Kunst steckt eine lange Geschichte mit mentalen Krisen, Depressionen und dem Versuch, mit Musik irgendwie klarzukommen. Für ihn wurde Rap irgendwann mehr als nur Kunst – eher Therapie. Wir reden darüber, wie es ist, alles auf Selbstständigkeit zu setzen, warum der klassische Karriereplan für ihn nie funktioniert hätte und wieso Erfolg manchmal genau dann kommt, wenn man eigentlich schon aufgeben wollte. Zwischen Chaos, schwarzem Humor und ehrlichen Momenten erzählt Crystal F, wie er sich über Jahre als Independent-Artist aufgebaut hat – ohne Major, ohne Industry-Playbook, aber mit einer ziemlich klaren Haltung.

Dieses Gespräch startet mit einem harmlosen „Wie geht's dir?“ und geht sofort über in existenzielle Themen: Therapie (fünfte Sitzung, Energielevel 30–40 %), ADHS-Diagnostik, Zukunftsangst, finanzieller Druck und die Erfahrung, nach Jahren täglichen Kiffens clean zu werden, ohne die erhoffte Erlösung, dass plötzlich „alles leichter“ ist.Hauke spricht offen über seine depressiven Phasen, Suizid-Gedanken, Panikattacken und warum er lange vor Hilfe weggelaufen ist – bis der Punkt kam, an dem “Funktionieren” einfach keine Option mehr war. Er teilt mit Julia einen sehr persönlichen Gedanken, bei dem seine Stimme bricht: “Ich hab super viel Glück in meinem Leben und sitz' trotzdem dann zu Hause und… bin immer traurig.”Im Anschluss wird's aber auch wieder Musik-nerdig und Julia stellt sich die Frage, warum er irgendwann aufgehört hat, zwischen Kunstfigur und Privatperson zu trennen. Wie man damit klarkommt, dass immer irgendeine Fan-Bubble enttäuscht ist („ich will den Horror-Hauke zurück!“ vs. „mach mehr Techno!“). Und warum ausgerechnet die ehrlichen, verletzlichen Songs die Leute am krassesten an ihn gebunden haben – und nicht die mit den polarisierenden Punchlines. Wie hält man über 20 Jahre lang eine Fanbase zusammen – und schafft es dann auch noch, die eigene Musik einmal komplett neu zu erfinden? Crystal F (oder einfach: Hauke) hat genau das gemacht. Früher Horrorcore, Shock-Value, Indizierungen und Briefe mit „jugendgefährdend“-Begründungen. Heute: Genre-Hopping irgendwo zwischen Rap, Techno & Horrorcore – und eine Community, die nicht nur geblieben ist, sondern mit ihm erwachsen wurde. Highlight der Folge: der Moment, in dem Hauke mehr monatliche Hörer*innen als Bibi Blocksberg und Benjamin Blümchen hat – und ihn Bibi via DM trocken herausfordert. Plus: Wie die Zusammenarbeit mit Karina Rose entstanden ist und wie ein Song plötzlich Millionen von Streams (ohne Spotify-Support) geknackt hat und die TikTok-Creations explodiert sind.
