Welcome to a new episode of Land-Grant Holy Land's I-70 podcast. On this show we talk all things Big Ten football and basketball. After every week of action, we will get you caught up on all the conference's games and look ahead at the matchups, storylines, and players that you should be paying attention to in the next week. My name is Jordan Williams, and I am joined by my co-host Dante Morgan. Jordan tried to warn everyone that unless Iowa figured out their offense they would end up losing. No one expected that loss to come to Purdue but thats exactly what happened. Purdue dominated No. 2 Iowa leading to their first loss and Purdue being ranked for the first time since 2007. Despite some close games against top teams Nebraska couldn't win the game they needed to for bowl eligibility to stay a realistic option leading the guys to discuss if it's finally time to fire Scott Frost. Michigan State survives a tough Indiana team and Jordan's dream is still alive. We are one Michigan win from an undefeated match up between top ten ranked Michigan and Michigan State. Despite, or because of, their success is this the last year for Mel Tucker at Michigan State? With LSU firing Coach Orgeron, Tucker could be a candidate for one of the best jobs in all of college football. It's another limited slate with only five games due to bye weeks but Dante and Jordan preview a few of next weeks games. Can Michigan stay undefeated? Will Purdue keep winning and defeat a stumbling Wisconsin team? and can Indiana out a scare into Ohio State? In their weekly pitstop Jordan discusses his disdain for the Big Ten's lack of effort in trying to recruit, develop and maintain good Quarterbacks. Dante talks about referees in college and the NFL. Why is no one holding them accountable and what changes need to be made to make the sport more enjoyable. The emails started flooding into the Doc Talk Sports inbox almost as soon as the game started. Nebraska fans were watching the Huskers give #3 Oklahoma a run for its money, but time and time again, mental mistakes, turnovers, and special teams stopped the Husker from pulling off the upset.  Overwhelmingly the criticism was directed at the offensive line. To be even more specific, o-line coach Greg Austin. It's not easy for Husker fans to criticize a former player, but fans expect results and improvement when you put the whistle around your neck. Unfortunately, right about now, they've seen enough from a unit that, to this point, has not earned the title of “pipeline.”  In this edition of the Doc Talk Podcast presented by the Rimington Trophy Dr. Rob Zatechka goes into great detail about the o-line and why he thinks they are having problems. Talent is not the issue according to Dr. Rob. Coaching is a part of the problem, but not all of it. Remember that offensive scheme that Scott Frost bragged about? You know the one that EVERY Big 10 defense was going to have to adapt to? Well, Dr. Rob says the scheme is the biggest problem in the entire equation.  Dr. Rob says he goes to bed at night dreaming about zone-blocking for the run game.  Well, he's now dreaming about Nebraska, but he could be dreaming about almost every other team in the country!  The Huskers failed to rush for over 100-yards against the Sooners. Up next they will by playing a now ranked Michigan State team that blew out Miami at Miami and held the Hurricanes to below 100-yards of rushing. Mel Tucker had had success against Nebraska when he was in Colorado. Tucker has a boatload of transfers in his second year with the Spartans, and they are off to a 3-0 start on the season.   Despite the poor play of the offensive line, a dreadful kicking game, and sloppy penalties, Nebraska does have a lot riding in its favor as it goes to East Lansing. The biggest asset they have right now is confidence. They know they can play talented teams and if they eliminate their mistakes, maybe pull off an upset. Also, Adrian Martinez is coming off what may be his best game since his freshman season. If Martinez is clicking on all cylinders, then the Nebraska offense is dangerous no matter what.  After you listen to the podcast, would you please give it a rating or a review? Why? Today on the show we talked about Michigan State's game against Miami Florida this weekend, Michigan taking on Northern Illinois, the Detroit Lions and Monday Night Football, and so much more. In our first hour we were joined by our friend Matt Charboneau so he and Huge could break everything down heading into tomorrow's MSU game. We kicked off our second hour playing Huge's interview with Michigan State Head Basketball Coach Tom Izzo. He came on to talk about about the Spartan off-season, Name/Image/Likeness, Mel Tucker and Spartan Football. We also wanted to play an interview that Anthony Bellino from X's and Bro's had this morning with Miami play-by-play voice Joe Zagacki. During the Draft Kings Power Hour, we looked all around the NFL and talked some Detroit Lions with a few of our great NFL Insiders. Lomas Brown joined us initially to give his thoughts on how the Lions looked last weekend, and how he feels about Monday night's game against the Packers. Merril Hoge then joined us to talk some more the Lions and looked around to some over the bigger games in the NFL. Lee Sterling then came on with us so he could tell us which picks to take on the Draft Kings Sportsbook app. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In the latest edition of Through the Smoke, we get to know the Michigan State Spartans.  The No. 24 Miami Hurricanes will take on the Spartans this Saturday in a noon kickoff at Hard Rock Stadium.  Miami (1-1) enters the game looking to click on offense while Michigan State (2-0) is looking to build on their strong start to the 2021 season.  To get a better understanding of Michigan State, we asked Andrew Bell of the Press Quarters Podcast to give us a better understanding of this MSU team.  What is head coach Mel Tucker all about? Who are the key players to know on both sides of the ball? What are the key match-ups to watch? David Lake and Bell touch on it all here.  You don't want to miss this episode.  Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
