Today I am discussing one of the most infamous and puzzling missing child cases from Alabama. 12-year-old Sherry Lynn Marler. Just after the start of summer break in 1984, one morning, Sherry tags along with her stepfather Ray to run some errands. He needs to fix a combine and check on some crops before making the about 30-minute drive into the town center of Greenville to go to the bank. While I know I would have certainly skipped this trip in favor of sleeping in, Sherry was excited to come along. She LOVES farming. And she looked forward to summer break for days just like this, days where she could be out in the fields checking on the crops, seeing what was new in the feed shop on main street, and I'm sure a million other tasks farmers have to complete to keep their farms up and running. All of this to say, Sherry was excited to be hanging out with Ray, continuing to learn what it takes to run farms like he does. After fixing the combine and checking on some crops, they make the drive into town. There, Ray parks his truck behind a furniture store, leaves a dollar for Sherry to grab a coke from the vending machine across the street and walks into the bank. 15 minutes later, Ray walks back to the truck, and Sherry is gone. There is something bittersweet about growing up. For the child, they step into new roles with new responsibilities. They learn to earn trust from the adults in their lives. In return, the adults have to let go just a little of the baby they have raised. They watch with tears in their eyes as some of the innocence of their child slips away into a teen and one day adult. It's hard, but it is life. We never think it'll be my child. That's what made it so unbelievable for 12-year-old Sherry Marler's mother and step-father to think that their “little farmer” had simply disappeared from their quaint, small town. A summer morning in a small Alabama town was the last place a 12 year old girl was seen in 1984. Did Sherry ever get the soda that she intended to buy with the dollar her step-father had just given her while he ran in the bank. He asked her to be back in 15 minutes, but how many minutes did it take for their world to be turned upside down? She also adored her step-father. When he was leaving to go into town to go to the bank, she came running outside with her shoes in hand begging to go with. Raymond (her step father) went into the bank to sign papers, he gave her $1 to go get a soda. One article said it was from a vending machine, another said it was from a Chevron gas station. Raymond told her to meet him back at the truck in 15 minutes. She was last seen crossing the street towards the Chevron gas station at 9:30 am. She didn’t come back after 15 minutes and Raymond began to get frustrated. It was not like Sherry to be late or disobey. After another 10 minutes he called Betty at her job at the local Waffle House to see if she happened to have gone over there to say hi. Betty said that Sherry was not there. Raymond then called the cops and that began the nightmare her poor mother has endured her entire life since then. Country music artist Sherry Lynn knows how to look at life. In fact, despite all the hard work that goes into a successful music career she definitely understands that this is a Beautiful Life, which incidentally is the title of her sophomore CD. In this CyberCountry Minute Sherry talks to Lance Yelvington about the importance of hard work, a better perspective and the bright promise of what's ahead.
In 2008, at home in New Jersey, Sherry Lynn was invited to open a show for one of her musical heroes. Since that time, she's been hard at work pursuing a career in country music, which is now paying off. Last year, she debuted at the Grand Ole Opry singing her duet "A Beautiful Life" with Crystal Gayle, and now she's celebrating the success of her most recent track "Girls Will Be Girls" off her latest album. Kelly caught up with Sherry Lynn during a visit to Nashville to learn all about her new music.
Sherry Dmytrewycz is a gifted and dedicated medical intuitive, as well as a conduit for a variety of energy healing modalities. She is a wife, mother of two sons and former elementary school teacher. She spent several years as a remedial reading and math teacher, working with students with learning difficulties, before deciding to explore, develop and use her healing gifts. She has traveled extensively and has lived in Pakistan, Tunisia, the former Soviet Union and Panama. She is the founder of Healing Gateway. Sherry believes that we can heal ourselves, but that we can also benefit from assistance in recognizing and releasing thought patterns or habits that are keeping us from moving forward in our lives. To foster self-healing, she shares suggestions with her clients to assist them in bringing their bodies back into balance. Sherry receives information from Spirit in a variety of ways. She is empathic (understands another’s situation, feelings, and motives), clairvoyant (sees objects or events not perceived by the senses), clairsentient (feels things not normally felt by most people) and clairaudient (hears Spiritual communication outside the range of normal perception). Her intuitive skills often give her a look at the inner organs of the body and the emotional base causing the body to be out of balance. Join us for a conversation on Emotional Release & Energy Alignment! This show marks Sherry's fifth appearance on Conversations with Christopher, and we are glad to have her back once again!
