A week or so ago, I ran the https://www.runcolfax.org/races/half-marathon/ (Colfax Half-Marathon) here in Denver, and what a great day. We even ran through the https://denverzoo.org/visit/ (Denver Zoo) and a Fire Station. Hats off to Creigh Kelley, Andrea Dowdy, and the team. They did an outstanding job for us runners! In this episode, we explore three motivating running stories. In one, I talk about how I lost the joy of running over the past 5-6 months. It's not been fun, but I am on the other side due to my participation in recent live races and training my brain. Also, an inspirational story of a man, Chris Rand, that fell off a cliff a little over a year ago, told he would never walk again, and now is running races. And a story that includes two individuals, Kristian Turner and Kelly Fitzgerald, that found running and transformed their lives. Oh, and I talk about my fractured wrist and how that all happened. I'm currently in this awful purple cast on my left arm. I did run the Colfax Half -Marathon with this cast. It was not that bad. I could even slip my energy gels in the top of it. Silver lining! We want to hear about your fall 2021 race experience. Just go to http://feelgoodrunning.com/myrace (feelgoodrunning.com/myrace). When Queen Elizabeth wanted to punish Robert Devereux for his imprudent behavior at court, she placed him in charge of handling the Irish rebels and sent him off to Ireland with strict instructions on how to handle that situation. His campaign was ultimately unsuccessful, due to reasons that can, and have, filled volumes on the history of the Nine Years War, as well as the Irish Rebellion, but where this elaborate Irish history finds an intriguing connection to Shakespeare is hidden in a seemingly nonsensical line about the death of Irish rats in Shakespeare’s play, As You Like It. In a single line Shakespeare invokes a popular legend about the ability of Irish poetry to kill rats by rhyming them to death. While the bard could simply be referencing the power of words here, we’ve invited an expert on Irish legends, poetry, and Shakespeare, Dr. Kelly Fitgerald, to sit down with us and take us back to 1599 when As You Like It was written, as well as the year Essex was sent to Ireland, and explain what this line implies with its’ suggestion of outright political commentary by Shakespeare, during a time when it was quite dangerous for a playwright write something so pointed.

Since then, she's published many essays across platforms and topics, she's gained a book deal and recovered from losing a book deal, she's launched a podcast, she's participated in competitions as an elite cross-fit athlete, she married her best friend, she's created a #SoberSummer Challenge for 2019 and has begun hosting She Recovers Sharing Circles in Cape Coral. Kelly makes sobriety look so good! To learn more about Kelly and her work, visit her at http://sobersenorita.com or on Facebook and Instagram @thesobersenorita. This week Kelly shares three items from her Unruffled Toolbox: (1) Cross-fit; (2) Meditation + Insight Timer App; and (3) Gratitude lists.
Kelly said writing a book had been on her bucket list since she was 22, but she says it’s a ton of work! And it wasn’t surprising she spent the next 8-10 years finding excuses as family and business excuses kept her from writing her ‘special and unique’ book. Years later her excuses dissipated and the opportunity to finish her book came to be. Kelly’s book can best be described as biblical, historical, a thriller, fiction, a novel, encompassing the super natural called, ‘Over My Dead Body: A Super Natural Novel’. Little wonder it took so long to finish however what Kelly has achieved is proof that if you have a strong desire to do something it’s never to late to start. Going beyond that in two years she has brought four new products to market including an eBook, paperback, hardback, and audiobook all on ‘Over My Dead Body’. Now in her 50's, Kelly says calls herself a novelist. It's been a wild ride, but it's not over yet, as a biblical concepts companion guide for the novel is due out in May 2019; and later a screenplay plus a second novel in the series. Thrilled her book has achieved great success hitting #1 bestseller in Biblical Fiction in three categories on Amazon, her children’s book has hit #1 in 2 categories on Amazon.

In this episode of The TruthSeekah Podcast TruthSeekah speaks with Kelly Fitzgerald Fowler about her new book "Over My Dead Body" A Supernatural Novel. During our conversation we cover some of the topics covered in the book and how it relates back to us in our own spiritual walk. We also discuss the power of myth and allegory and how stories have been used to impart to us great truths throughout the centuries and is still being done today. Her book bio is as follows. What if voices from your past could change everything? New York antique dealer Joel Cohen is about to find out. After the unexpected death of his father, Joel inherits a mysterious antique passed down through multiple generations of his family. When he discovers its hidden contents, it sets in motion a chain of predestined spiritual events dating back not only to 70 A.D.—when the high priest recorded his firsthand account of the missing body of Jesus of Nazareth—but also to the foundations of the earth. As the historical significance of the ancient heirloom is revealed, Joel and his wife Hannah, a security officer for the Israeli Consulate, find themselves entangled in a dangerous conflict with an invisible enemy desperately trying to suppress their discovery, and a powerful secret society determined to do anything to get their hands on it. Over My Dead Body is a dramatic saga of historical espionage set against the backdrops of ancient Rome, World War II, and the Courtroom of Heaven. This modern day adventure of biblical proportion thoroughly delights right up to its riveting, supernatural finale. Purchase Kelly's Book Here

Kelly Fitzgerald always felt as if everyone had directions on how to live life, but she never got the manual. She established her drinking career in college and became the life of the party. Her binge drinking and blackouts became a normal occurrence, but she was in deep denial about just how bad her alcoholism was. After enjoying Spring Break in Cancun, she decided to move there so the party would never end. But Kelly began to wake up in strange places and did not remember what happened to her. She tried to control her drinking, but couldn't. Finally, after yet another of many failed relationships, Kelly calls her mom and tells her she is ready for help. Now the Sober Senorita is a popular recovery blogger and wants to share her story so that other college students know there is another way. She is running the 6K marathon for Heroes in Recovery and says sobriety has allowed her to show up for all the people in her life.

Sober Señorita Kelly Fitzgerald joins us on The SHAIR Podcast today. Kelly grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in a small town called Royersford. From as far back she can remember she has always had an addictive personality. She lived to party and was branded the “social butterfly” in high school. Kelly attended college at Millersville University in central Pennsylvania and earned 2 undergraduate degrees while playing 4 seasons of NCAA Division II soccer, as well as establishing her drinking career. Binge drinking and blackouts became the norm as she falls deeper and deeper into denial about just how bad her drinking habits had become. After graduation she moved to Cancun, Mexico where her alcoholism morphed into full blown alcoholic debauchery. In May of 2013 Kelly took her last drink and began her journey into sobriety. In 2014 she started blogging on here website Sober Señorita where she made her first official blog post about sobriety – the post heard round the world! Today Kelly is the Sober Señorita and her goal is to let others know through her own story that help is available for substance use disorders and that recovery is possible. By sharing her story with the world she hopes to break the stigma of addiction and let others know you can live a life beyond your wildest dreams.
