V Toll Keeper from ‘Faithless' (releases March 31) Powerhouse Naarm underground artist V presents ‘Faithless' - a mesmerising post-industrial composition for synth, voice, bass, vintage electronics, Mini Pops drum machine, choir, tape manipulation and Melbourne's extraordinary public sound sculpture: the Federation Bells. On 'Faithless', sepulchral vocals and arpeggiated percussion are warped, distorted and mutated through an ever evolving cycle of cosmic gothic miasma, producing a haunting meditation on loss, yearning, psychic devastation and the failures of mental healthcare in contemporary Australia.Check out Faithless and preorder the LP here: https://vlovescats.bandcamp.com/album/faithlessEvent info here. — Abi Lee, Ollie Ledi Hanane and Ffion Stoakes recorded live at the Make it up Club 240123 Melbourne based Analog Synth and Woodwind performer : Stevie Richards live at Grafodroom in Tallinn Estonia 24th May 2019

Melbourne rock outfit Dead City Ruins are preparing for "the biggest, most ambitious shows on home soil to date" this weekend, when they finally get to hold the official launch parties for last years album Shockwave.Another typically hard rocking slab of goodness from Dead City Ruins, Shockwave also marked the debut album for vocalist Steve Welsh. Although Welsh had been performing live with the band for a number of years, Shockwave marks the first time he has contributed vocals to an album, making this weekend's launch shows even more important. With shows at Sydney's Factory Floor on November 11 and the Corner Hotel in Melbourne on November 12, Welsh stopped by for a chat with HEAVY to let us in on what to expect."These shows are album launch shows," Welsh affirmed, "so Shockwave, the album, will be launching this weekend which is very exciting."We press Welsh on the claim that these are the most ambitious shows on home soil to date, which he stood by emphatically."Yes, I would say so," he nodded quickly. "As we always do we've put a lot of effort into our shows, but with this one we've gone through everything and figured out what's going to be the best experience, tried to add in a few things that we haven't done before which will be a bit of a surprise when you are at the show. I would say they're definitely going to be the best shows we've done on home soil to this date."In the full interview, Steve talks more about the shows and what to expect, the reception to Shockwave, which songs from the album go down best live, mixing his songs with the back catalogue and how easy it is to transition, settling in to the role as frontman, their recent support with KISS, what tips DCR picked up from working with them, new music and more.

ABOUT THE GUEST KUBRA COMMANDER are a Philippine indie/psychedelic/dreampop rock band formed in Cebu City in 2016 that was initially made as a solo project by bravura aficionado J Martino "Bobbi" Olvido. Preceding the release of their studio album "Vagrant Up" in 2018 and their singles "On Your Left" (2019) and "It's Alright I'm Feeling Fine" (April 2020) via Melt Records, a full band was needed for the conception and future live performances. After a few lineup changes, the band finally formed its current core members in 2022 with J Martino "Bobbi" Olvido (lead vocals, guitar), Joko Nozawa (guitar), Jah Acab (bass guitar), Lynel Sucalit (synth/keys), and Tim Williams (drums) —with recurring sessionists Joey Seno (synth/keys) and Michael Pacalioga (guitar). Their newest album "Rhythm Tourists" is now available everywhere under Lilystars Records featuring two 2020 single tracks: "The Now" and "Garden Bistro," with "Doldrum" and "I've Seen the Heathens Cry". This week on Guff Guff Pass we have the amazing trio from Nepal's leading indie band- Phosphenes. Fresh off their new album and music video launch for ‘yestai nai hola', the band has been a constant on most of our playlists. With an edgy twist to themselves in a landscape where rock and now hip hop has often ruled the masses, Phosphenes have set out on a mission to mesmerize the masses with their distinct tunes. On the episode we also managed to dive into various topics outside the wheelhouse of traditional conversations about music and got to hear some unique perspectives from the artists. All in all an amazing episode 81 with lots to initiate more conversations from and more to appreciate Nepal's rising indie band. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/guffguffpass/message
