Most high achievers learned at a young age that emotions were distractions. This early lesson inspired much of their success… but it came at a terrible cost: It develops emotional blindspots that quietly, patiently, and relentlessly sabotage you. Here's the thing about emotional blindspots: No matter how much you try to stuff them down and pretend they don't exist, they don't simply disappear. Instead, they move underground. They become sneakier. More insidious. And more sabotaging. Worst part? There's only one way to address your emotional blindspots in a way that builds emotional strength and mastery. And it's not hustling harder, doing more mental gymnastics with your cognitive behavioral therapist, or becoming a master at stress management. The real solution goes far deeper than these knee-jerk reactions most high achievers have. That's what I share in today's episode. Listen now. Show Highlights Include: Why avoiding, distracting, and numbing out your emotions backfires and causes them to hijack your behaviors (even without you realizing it) (1:26) The “emotions aren't spreadsheets” secret for understanding why you spiral (and why it's not a problem you can think yourself out of) (2:34) Why “knowing” your emotions doesn't make you a master at them - the same way “knowing” guitar doesn't make you play as good as Jimi Hendrix (3:35) 3 exercises to try when intellectualizing your emotions doesn't help you master them (5:32) Why addressing your emotional blindspots improves your sleep, lessens your compulsive habits' grip on you, deepens your relationships, and improves your material success (13:06) The sneaky way anger, frustration, and anxiety hide your real emotional pain (15:44) For more about David Tian, go here: https://www.davidtianphd.com/about/ Want more success in leadership, deeper connections, or a greater sense of fulfillment? There are 3 distinct levels to personal development and self-improvement. And most high achievers get trapped forever in Level 2—never fully healing or integrating with their internal world because they're stuck trying to conquer it. While Level 2 is helpful up to a point, if you stay in Level 2 for too long, you'll never experience true healing or integration. Worst part? Most influencers and coaches intentionally keep you stuck at Level 2 because it's easier to sell you “the one thing” you need than to fix yourself than sell the message that you don't need fixed and you're already worthy. But there's a way through Level 2 to reach Level 3 and experience how life fundamentally feels different when you're healed and integrated. In today's show, I'll walk you through the 3 stages of personal growth, explain why Level 2 is so intoxicating, but stagnate, and reveal the counterintuitive approach to get to Level 3. Listen now. Show Highlights Include: Why obsessing over self-development stunts your internal growth (0:18) The 3 levels of personal development and how learning which level your stuck at explains almost everything about your current struggles (1:04) 3 telltale signs you're stuck in the insidious “Level 2 Self Improvement” trap (and how to finally break through to the third level and experience true healing) (3:25) The “stop fixing, start listening” secret that actually heals your inner world instead of trying to fix it (4:34) How trying to conquer or change your parts means you're still not integrating or healing (and one question to help you integrate and heal) (10:15) Why most of the deep- or enlightened-sounding advice on the internet keeps you stuck at level 2 (15:20) For more about David Tian, go here: https://www.davidtianphd.com/about/ Want more success in leadership, deeper connections, or a greater sense of fulfillment? Most people, and high achievers in particular, suffer from a paradoxical problem: Trying too hard backfires and causes your deepest, darkest fears to realize. When high achievers are confronted with a problem in their personal or professional life, their first instinct is to push harder, work longer, go on more dates. They're desperately searching for connection, peace, joy, and love. But they don't realize that their need for control keeps these forever out of their reach. But there's an ancient solution to this problem: Wu Wei, acting without inner friction. However, you can't approach it like some business metric. In fact, you have to learn to stop trying so hard, to loosen your grip on control if you want to experience the effortless flow that's the main ingredient in true mastery of life. In today's show, I breakdown what Wu Wei really is, why most high achievers totally miss it, and how you can become more fulfilled in life by trying less. Listen now. Show Highlights Include: Why trying too hard in life has devastating consequences that will deprive you of every joy (0:18) How to incorporate “modern Wu Wei” into your life before you rip apart everything you want most—like connection, peace, joy, and love (2:05) The paradoxical way you heal naturally by not trying as hard (6:44) The single most toxic mindset that has killed more potential than any other mindset in human history (9:04) How you make your life into a hollow void when you fall into the insidious “Trap of the Shoulds” (11:18) Why positive thinking and affirmations are actually a deadly suppression skill that take you further away from what you crave most in life (17:53) For more about David Tian, go here: https://www.davidtianphd.com/about/ Want more success in leadership, deeper connections, or a greater sense of fulfillment? Most high achievers have been sold a lie: that Chaos is a threat that will take everything from you, and the only way to handle it is with more control. But if you look into any high achiever's life, relationships, or business, you'll see a similar through line: They're quietly miserable no matter how much material success they've accumulated. Why does this same story play out across so many lives? Because when you try to control chaos, you cut yourself off from half of life. Peace doesn't come from a lack of chaos, it comes in the midst of chaos. And chaos is the raw material of growth, creativity, love, and leadership. The trick isn't to compartmentalize your life so much that you don't feel chaos. It's to lean into the chaos, be curious with the chaos, and gain wisdom from it. In today's show, I'm going to dismantle the lie that chaos should be avoided by turning to ancient Chinese philosophy, Buddhist psychology, and even modern day leadership coaching. And I'll show you how leaning into the chaos doesn't just shift your mindset or cause a paradigm shift, it gives you an entirely new way of being. Listen now. Show Highlights Include: Why trying to control chaos is a failing strategy that will devour your fulfillment of life (0:28) How to flow through your problems like water down a river (and why this framework leads to more success and happiness than trying to conquer a particular obstacle) (2:55) The insidious way “white knuckling” your way through stress sabotages your sleep quality, your relationship, and your joy for life (3:25) 3 characteristics toddlers in the middle of a tantrum crave more than anything else (and no, none of the characteristics include lecturing) (6:01) The counterintuitive formula for peace that applies to parenting, intimate relationships, your career, and your inner, emotional world (8:20) How to get unstuck in your career, your relationship, and your life by leaning into chaos instead of shying away from it (11:04) The single best lesson from Tony Robbins that can 10x your business if you take it seriously (12:32) Feel stuck in a paralyzing trap of analyzing? Most achievers who want more from life—whether in their relationships, career, or fulfillment—turn to best-selling self-help books. But most of the “wisdom” in these bestsellers doesn't stand the test of time—at least not when compared to ancient texts that have helped people for thousands of years. One such ancient book that offers a treasure trove of wisdom is called the Zhuangzi, an early Daoist text. And while it's more than 2,000 years old… the wisdom contained inside this text is timeless. In fact, it's even more useful in modern life than it was in ancient times. In this episode, we're diving into wisdom that could completely reshape your life coming from a source that most achievers have never even heard of. It's ancient, it's profound, and it might just unlock what you've been searching for in love, career, and your inner life. Listen now. There are two specific virtues characteristic of your higher self. These two virtues can turn your inner demons into inner supporters. They help you overcome deep-seated trauma and pain that keeps sabotaging your relationships. They can reduce your anxiety and depression. And they can make every aspect of your life—whether in relationships, in your career, or anything else—more fulfilling and enjoyable. So, what are these two virtues? Courage and compassion. While courage is generally considered masculine and compassion feminine, the combination of the two is the only way to heal you of your traumas, free yourself from the burden of resentment, and start you on a journey towards true transformative change. But I won't delude you: Developing courage and compassion can be difficult. That's why it's so rare when it happens in real life. That said, it's possible. Most men, especially hypermasculine men, feel like therapy doesn't work for them. Or worse yet, that therapy could never work for them. And I get it. Not only are up to 80% of mental health workers women, but traditional psychotherapy operates through a feminine lens that further alienates masculine men. When men go through traditional therapy, they often feel discouraged, angry, and unheard. Because the feminine approach doesn't account for their lifelong conditioning about how emotions make you weak. But nothing could be further from the truth: Not only do emotions add all the spice to life that makes it worth living, but mastering your emotions makes you more productive and more fulfilled too. In this episode, I explain why traditional psychotherapy often doesn't work for men, and I reveal four ways masculine men can start to accept their emotions, undo their conditioning, and use therapy to help them accomplish their goals. Listen now. Show Highlights Include: Why many men are on the path that only leads to emptiness, regret, and extreme loneliness (and how to jump off this path) (1:24) The single biggest barrier to effective therapy for men (6:14) The “color of life” mindset shift that instantly makes you feel more okay with your emotions (7:43) How the feminine approach to therapy practiced by most therapists renders therapy useless (and how to experience a more masculine—and effective—approach) (8:09) All men who have resistance to their emotions needs to listen here: (13:39) This one question will start to undo your conditioning that emotions are obstacles to be avoided or solved (15:16) How a relentless drive to be productive and successful robs you of all the joys of life and turns you into an emotionless robot (19:25) 6 ways to get buy-in from your masculine protector parts that can make therapeutic effective (and an example of how one of my clients went through this process) (22:15) Does your neediness, fear, or insecurity sabotage your success with women? Here's a harsh truth for many men to understand, especially the pleasers and fixers: It's not your job as a man to continuously attract your woman or to make her happy. Instead, it's about understanding the elements that naturally cultivate attraction and happiness within a relationship. But this approach to dating and attraction is a lot harder because it requires improving yourself at the deepest levels instead of putting on a façade. But you know what? Despite it being harder, it leads to a more fulfilling relationship. And yes, this includes sexual fulfillment too. In today's episode, I'm answering some tough questions like: What are women actually attracted to? What keeps women committed in a relationship, especially a long-term relationship where the initial spark has died? And how do you not only attract a woman, but keep her? And I reveal my 3H and 3P methods for helping you understand the complex dance of attraction and commitment that are the cornerstones of building a successful long-term relationship. Listen now. Show Highlights Include: Why the initial spark in your relationship dies when you don't understand this… (0:56) How wondering how to attract your ideal woman is a sneaky way to display your neediness (and how to stop being needy) (3:59) The “CRW” secret for naturally attracting women without even trying (7:08) Are women sexually attracted to wealth? One of the most common and deadly fears people have is the fear of failure. And this fear in particular has dire consequences: It creates a life where every decision is clouded by the terror of making a mistake. Where opportunities are left unexplored because the risk of failure looms too large. A life shackled by the fear of failure leads to stagnation—professionally and personally. Even your relationships suffer because a fear of failure prevents you from being your true self. Living with this fear for too long means never truly knowing the full extent of your capabilities or the depths of who you are. That's the bad news. The good news? When you liberate yourself from the gripping fear of failure, you view every setback as a stepping stone to something greater. Your relationships improve because you show up as your true self. Your career takes off because you're no longer shackled by this pervasive fear. And by embracing failure, you unlock a more adventurous, spontaneous, and fulfilling life. It won't be easy—it takes time and effort to address and overcome this deep-seated fear. But it's possible. In today's episode, you'll discover where the fear of failure comes from, and even more, how to use both modern and ancient wisdom to overcome it and live a more fulfilling life. Listen now. Show Highlights Include: Why attaching your value as a person to your success and failures is a recipe for fear and disappointment (4:54) The Buddhist monk's secret for overcoming your fear of failure (7:38) How striving for happiness keeps it out of your reach (and how to find joy without searching for it) (8:24) 2 simple, yet wildly effective ways to find peace and fulfillment within yourself right now (even if you haven't achieved everything you want) (10:37) 4 exercises to help you directly engage with different parts of yourself and understand why they manifest as fear and anxiety (14:34) The daily “Radical Self-Acceptance” practice that not only enhances your personal relationships, but also deepens your relationship with yourself (18:55) How to become more aware of your intrusive thoughts and transform them into positive ones in just 5 minutes each day (20:06) The dire consequences of living a life controlled by your fear of failure (and how it bleeds into every aspect of your life) (26:15) How embracing failure improves your relationships, boosts your attractiveness, and infuses your actions with a sense of purpose and freedom (27:17) Does your neediness, fear, or insecurity sabotage your success with women? Many men don't understand the difference between sadness and self-pity. And this lack of understanding comes with a big cost: You sacrifice joy and growth when you confuse sadness for self-pity. Now, this isn't your fault, per se. Most modern men grew up believing toxic masculinity myths like that crying is a sign of weakness. Not only is this false, it's objectively wrong and science has proved this. When you embrace and process sadness in a healthy way, it's no longer an emotion to be feared but an opportunity for growth. But when you ignore, neglect, and repress your sadness, it can morph into self-pity, which, besides nuking your happiness, also leads to actual health problems. In today's show, you'll discover how to spot the crucial differences between sadness and self-pity, why self-pity is so detrimental to your emotional and physical health, and tools to navigate sadness in a way that opens doors not closes them. Listen now. Show Highlights Include: Why confusing sadness with self-pity sabotages your entire experience of life (0:22) How to use gut-wrenching sadness to open doors to your higher self instead of letting it slam doors shut (2:04) The “Self Pity Quicksand” that traps you in your own head, prevents you from growth, and spirals you into destructive actions (3:25) How masculinity myths not only cause mental and emotional pain, but keep joy and fulfillment out of your reach (6:18) Do you think it's unmanly or weak to be sad? Here's why this toxic thought process will block you from true love (9:39) The scientific proof that sadness leads to profound self-growth while self-pity leads to high blood pressure, cortisol, and a weakened immune system (12:45) How to embrace your emotions instead of shying away from them with the “signal” mindset shift (17:26) 4 tools that will help you embrace sadness without devolving into the quicksand of self pity (20:39) A real-life example of how to turn self-pity into sadness and growth (26:44) Does your neediness, fear, or insecurity sabotage your success with women? The lack of a unified message in the world has made it easy to judge others (or even face judgment yourself). But making assumptions and shaming others doesn't help you find common ground in a problem, it only creates a stronger divide. Having differences shouldn't be about tearing each other down, but lifting each other up. In this episode, you'll learn why shame and judgment only make you feel isolated and how to have conversations that bring together a community for the greater good. Show Highlights Include: Why judging others keeps you from being more impactful and compassionate. (0:26) How this teacher's lack of judgment turned a talkative student into an avid bookworm - and how judging less shows you more opportunities for yourself and others. (1:49) The “Matthew Chapter 8” way to offer hope, unity and an open heart to those with different opinions (and why Jesus made it a profound principle). Through the challenges of 2020 comes a unique opportunity for churches to rise up and think through issues together. And if you've lost your faith over the last year, just know there is always a hope-filled conversation to have. Stories of overcoming adversity and bringing light to the dark are nothing new. Most men don't realize that the patterns they see in their relationships almost always trace back to their core insecurities and emotional baggage. This may be hard to hear at first, but it's actually an empowering approach to fixing unhealthy dating patterns. If you constantly find yourself stuck in a cycle of unsatisfying or unfulfilling relationships, instead of searching for quick fixes or dating advice on YouTube, reflect on how your internal psychology is sabotaging your relationships. For example, low self-worth and unresolved trauma actively work to rip your relationship apart from the inside out. However, the solution, while difficult, is also simple: By first focusing on the relationship you have with yourself and addressing unresolved issues, you will naturally attract better partners, form deeper connections, and unlock a more fulfilling relationship. In this episode, you'll discover how to confront these internal psychological problems and escape the cycle of unfulfilling relationships forever. Listen now. Show Highlights Include: Why relying on quick fixes to heal your relationship and dating problems is a surefire way to live alone, isolated, and miserable (0:50) The sneaky way your insecurities and emotional baggage seep into your relationship and sabotage it (1:17) How to solve all your relationship and dating problems by focusing on the often-neglected “inner world” (3:12) Do you think you're unlucky in love? Well, here's how your low self-worth manifests in your dating patterns (4:07) The “Mirror Effect” in dating that explains how your emotions, insecurities, and life perspective influences your relationships (and how to attract better partners into your life) (7:42) How your insecurities betray your relationship and makes your neediness scare away your partner (8:15) The key to finally breaking unhealthy relationship patterns and building stronger connections (16:11) 3 reasons why group therapeutic coaching can transform your fear of conflict into a deeply fulfilling relationship (18:48) Does your neediness, fear, or insecurity sabotage your success with women? Imagine a life where you understand yourself and your relationships deeply. Where you're no longer stuck in unfulfilling patterns because you have the tools and the experience to build genuine, lasting connections. Well, group therapeutic coaching offers certain advantages over individual coaching and can fast track your personal growth, leading to more authentic relationships. In today's episode, I reveal the four advantages group dynamics have over individual therapy dynamics, how therapeutic group work helps you confront unfulfilling patterns in real time (versus always looking to the past), and why it's a more effective route for transformation. There's a catch-22 that happens in almost every long-term relationship: The more intimate your relationship becomes, the more it triggers unresolved, unconscious issues. This may explain seemingly random explosions of anger over minor disagreements or waves of sadness and low self-esteem. Despite our wishes, repressing painful emotions doesn't make them disappear into thin air. Instead, they simmer under the surface, and pop up when you least expect it. The problem is, these explosions of repressed trauma can sabotage even the healthiest of relationships. That's the bad news. The good news? Well, there are proven ways to not only deal with these suppressed emotions, but to make sure that they don't sabotage your relationships or mental health. In today's episode, we explore these proven ways, so you can free yourself of the poison they bring when left unanalyzed and unresolved. Want to improve your mental health, relationships, and discover how to confront repressed emotions so they don't backfire on you and your loved ones? Listen now. Show Highlights Include: Why ignoring your “emotional fitness” plants the seeds of destruction in even the healthiest of relationships (1:13) How being vulnerable with women often re-traumatizes men who haven't yet discovered their true self and turns off your date (even if it seems like good advice on the surface) (6:26) Does your neediness prevent you from making authentic connections with women you date? Here's the only true way to get rid of your neediness (7:09) Why your false selves sabotage your mental health (even if they help you land a few dates) (8:54) How the therapeutic process brings all of your psyche's parts into harmony and balance and unlocks the deep connections you've been searching for in your relationships (13:36) Why repressed emotions linger under the surface and cause explosions of anger at the worst possible times (and how to handle repressed emotions in a healthier way) (14:48) The “Emotional Self Sufficiency” secret that enhances your mental health, your relationships, and your general wellbeing (17:21) Does your neediness, fear, or insecurity sabotage your success with women? When a relationship hinges on sexual attractiveness, it's doomed to fail. Yet despite all the scientific evidence about attractiveness fading over time, the first step most men take when their relationship falters is improving their attractiveness. They think that if only they had a 6-pack or more designer brand clothes that this will magically make their partner fall back in love with them. But nothing is further from the truth. Do you think that an elderly couple still obviously in love with each other is fueled by attraction? Of course not. But still, many men miss this point and it sabotages their relationships. The solution? Well, there's a few things you can do to build a lasting and thriving relationship that aren't based on your attraction to your partner or vice versa. And in this episode, you'll discover what personal and relationship characteristics help your relationship grow stronger over time instead of withering away into nothingness. Listen now. One of the most damaging societal myths we believe is that marriage or having a baby can fix underlying relationship issues. This myth isn't only misleading, but it creates more significant issues down the road. For example, breaking up is much easier (mentally and financially) than getting a divorce. Bringing a child into this world under the wrong pretenses can burden your children with deep-seated trauma that takes decades to fix. The truth? Marriage and parenthood aren't solutions to your relationship problems. In fact, they heighten these issues. And jumping into marriage or parenthood before you're ready can come with devastating consequences. But don't worry. In today's show, I'll reveal how you can best prepare—as an individual and as a couple—for both marriage and parenthood. Listen now! Show Highlights Include: Why getting married or having a baby won't fix your underlying relationship issues (and how these create even more hardship) (1:06) The weird way marriages based on love and personal fulfillment end abruptly (3:31) How parenthood triggers new relationship problems (and how to address them without divorce) (6:15) Why addressing your own internal issues profoundly impacts the health of your relationships (13:49) The insidious “Imago Match” theory that explains how seemingly minor relationship problems erupt into full-blown fights (and how to leverage it to build a healthier relationship) (15:35) 4 steps to properly prepare for marriage or parenthood (22:59) Does your neediness, fear, or insecurity sabotage your success with women? There's a myth that most guys believe that looks, status, or wealth are the keys to a lasting relationship. But this isn't the case. And it's how you can wind up in a boring and sexless long-term relationship. While these attributes initially created the spark of attraction that started your relationship, as your relationship matures, other attributes become more important. In fact, I call these attributes the “Four P's.” Besides keeping the fire alive in your long-term relationship, the “Four P's” also create a thriving sex life that both you and your partner find deeply fulfilling. So, what are the “Four P's?” How do you cultivate each of the “Four P's”? And why do many guys struggle with building the “Four P's” in their long-term relationships? In this episode, I reveal the answer to each of these questions, so you can build a thriving long-term relationship full of passionate sex, connection, and unconditional love. Listen now! And when you combine this season with the mental and physical effects of menopause and perimenopause that affect women during the very same time, it can be exhausting. Unfortunately, women are often dismissed by healthcare providers, and can have most of their symptoms written off as hormonal or superficial. As a result, there are a lot of questions and confusion around perimenopause, menopause, and women's health in general. We need an expert voice in the mix. Enter Dr Lisa Larkin. Lisa specializes in women's health, cancer survivorship, menopause management, female sexual health, and women's cardiovascular diseases. She graduated from Yale School of Medicine and has held various prestigious medical positions since then before returning to private practice. She's perfectly very qualified to answer questions on perimenopause, menopause, and the health challenges women face around midlife. Which is exactly what we do today. In this episode, you'll discover the difference between the perimenopausal and menopausal effects on women's health, what you can do about it, and what you should watch out for at this stage of life. Listen in… Show Highlights Include: Why midlife and menopausal women don't receive enough attention from the healthcare system (and who they can turn to in their trying times). (10:40) A huge problem with women's health in the social media space. (13:26) The symptoms of, and difference between menopause and perimenopause (and how to know which one you're experiencing) (14:39) Why it's important to educate men about women's health and aging. Common sense isn't so common in today's society. Why? We live in an era where we value entertainment over learning, and impression over impact. And a lack of common sense causes this shallow and superficial culture. But developing a greater capacity for common sense is simple, even if it's not easy. So, how do you do it, so you not only change your lives, but the lives of your loved ones around you? In this episode, you'll discover the critical elements you need to develop your common sense. You'll also discover how to apply knowledge from your field into everyday life. Listen now. Show Highlights Include: Why we glorify shallow things and participate in a superficial culture in today's society (and how you can break out of that trance). (0:41) The 3 critical elements you need to develop your capacity for common sense—in 30 days or less. (1:42) The difference between intelligence and knowledge (and how to apply your knowledge in your everyday life) (2:01) How this second fundamental element of common sense affects your judgment, decision-making and your life. There's an invisible world living beneath your skin. It controls your emotions, mood, cravings, and can even alter your entire personality. What's this invisible world that can hijack your very experience of life itself? Parasites! Now, I don't say this to creep you out or give you a reason to shift blame onto these nasty single cell organisms, but to offer you hope: Whatever you're dealing with now that's lowering your quality of life, could be the result of parasites. And that is empowering because there are things you can do to rid yourself of these parasites. In this episode, you'll discover how much control parasites have over your body, your feelings, your thoughts, and more. And I reveal some simple (and some complicated) ways to rid yourself of these life-lowering parasites. Listen now. Finish lines have a powerful allure to them. They inspire us to begin important journeys and give us strong motivation to go after our goals. However, sometimes we misinterpret which parts of our lives need finish lines, so we approach everything the same way and wind up overloaded. If this sounds like you, there's a way you can find a cadence you can sustain as you pursue your goals all while reserving essential energy. How? In this episode, I'll reveal how using finish lines the wrong way can drain you mentally and physically. You'll discover how to mentally reposition yourself so you can attack your goals and achieve them with the same vigor but at a sustained, healthy pace. Listen in… Show Highlights Include: Why finish lines have a powerful allure (and how they help drive us towards our goals) (4:46) The dark side of finish lines we need to be aware of. Most real estate investors spend way too much time on “Short-Term Equity” deals. These are the types of deals where: You find the property You fully lease it out You do all the hard work… And when it's all said and done, you only own 3% of the total equity in the deal. Will this setup ever change your life? Probably not. But there's a better way: It's called the “LTE” model. With this better way, I've amassed a $63 million real estate portfolio. Best part? I own 48% of the equity in this portfolio! So, with that all said… In today's episode, you'll discover how to take advantage of this new equity model for yourself. You'll also find out why some apartment deals are actually jobs disguised as financial freedom. Listen now! Show Highlights Include: Why you'll only take home 4% equity in an apartment syndication (even if you found the deal) (2:41) Think owning an apartment means you'll never work again? Here's how it can easily turn into a J.O.B. if you employ a “Short-Term Equity” model (5:12) How your investors can legally steal $720K from right under your nose (even if you're only earning $56K) (7:33) The bizarre way running your property empire like an employee—and not as a business owner—unlocks financial freedom (8:40) How to own 70% equity in your next apartment deal by trying out this “elementary” trick (14:20) Ask yourself these 3 questions to guarantee you'll only buy apartments with huge upside (15:05) The “SF” secret for getting 100% equity in your next real estate deal (without relying on investors) How to build a $63 million real estate empire with the “Long-Term Equity” model (26:59) If you liked the episode, leave me a review on whichever app you listen to podcasts on. You might be a perfectionist if… You're restless and discontent with anything that is incomplete, operating at over-capacity and running yourself ragged to get things just the way you like them. Or you might start LOTS of projects and never finish them. Or you might work REALLY hard to get people to like you. It turns out there's not just one kind of perfectionist, but nearly all the faces of perfectionism cause the person exhibiting them to be labeled negatively. The truth is: perfectionism has gotten a bad rap. But what if we can own our perfectionism and reframe it as an integral part of our personality. And what if we can even transform that perfectionism into a powerful force? In this episode, I interview the brilliant Katherine Morgan Schafler, a seasoned therapist who has worked with ambitious perfectionistic women for years. She enlightens us about the different types of perfectionism, and how to own our perfectionism and harness it as the powerful force it is. Listen in… Show Highlights Include: Why perfectionists feel disappointed by imperfection (and how you can be a healthy perfectionist) (8:54) The biggest misconception about perfectionism (and what perfectionism really is). (14:26) The 5 perfectionist types (and the pros and cons of each). (22:31) Why this category of perfectionists should endeavor to manage their perfectionism (and what happens when they don't.) (27:37) How to accept your perfectionism and channel it to produce real power (and why not everyone can be one). (31:55) Interested in coaching with Brilliant Balance? We're suckers for authority. We see someone in a white lab coat, and immediately think they know all the answers. But reality doesn't typically play out how they say: Take Amber for example, a featured guest on this episode. She battled chronic pain for years, got prescribed pain pills, and shortly became addicted to them. When she realized she was done taking pain pills, she quit cold turkey. And the next time she went to her doctor—someone she likes as a person, mind you—he told her that quitting pain pills cold turkey could've killed her. Well, it didn't. And we do this in our own lives too: with therapy, with visits to the doctor, by reading self-help books, and even by scrolling WebMD only to convince ourselves we're dying. The truth is, authority isn't always right. In fact, it tends to be wrong a lot of the time. And this is dangerous because at the end of the day, we're our own ultimate authority figure. While it may seem like bad news, it's not. Because this empowers us to make positive changes by simply questioning authority. And in this episode, you'll discover how to do just that to free yourself from addiction, misery, pain, and suffering. Listen now. Show Highlights Include Why we're predisposed to believe anything from an authority speaker's lips (even if its dead wrong and causes more suffering) (5:41) The insidious way pain pills promise to make you better for your family (and how to quit them cold turkey when you realize they aren't serving you) (8:12) The “Slippery Slope” reason why pain pills can help you one day, then overwhelm you with addictive tendencies the next (9:22) How doctors prescribe you life-changing pills off conclusions from the data, not the data itself (and why understanding this distinction helps you break free from addiction) (12:48) The”experience” mindset shift which instantly turns emotions generally considered as bad into fun roller coaster rides (16:11) The weird way watching Inglourious Basterds can help you blow up your trauma—for good—in a fiery explosion (18:37) The “beyond the Milky Way” secret that unlocks an infinite amount of hope that your addiction is not permanent (20:30) How the stories you tell yourself can dupe you into thinking you have full-blown kidney disease (even if you're perfectly healthy) (24:23) Need help unlocking mental, emotional, and physical freedom in your life? “Operational Real Estate” is an asset class with the easiest-to-negotiate owners in the world. 15-20% of the market is made up of multinational syndications. The remaining 80-85% consists of Mom & Pop operators — people who overlook how sought after their property is — meaning you get high rental yield properties at a bargain price. Speaking of sought after, “Operational Real Estate” has never-ending demand. In fact, its demand increases during recessions. And the best part? Investors see a fully passive double digit annualized return — 10%+. And by the way, these are only a fraction of the benefits of “Operational Real Estate.” In today's episode, Chris Larsen, host of the Next Level Income Podcast, reveals the easiest way you can invest in “Operational Real Estate.” He also shares a sneaky way to add an extra 100 “clients” to your business — without owning or running said business. Listen now! Show Highlights Include: Why listening to Dave Ramsey's ramblings about financial security robs you of financial freedom (4:20) How to generate 100 clients who pay you a $1,500 a month (without owning or running said business) (5:16) Watch the moolah pile up in your bank account when you stumble upon a “demographic driven business” (and achieve 50% profit margins) (7:23) Add an extra 0 to the end of your back account this upcoming recession with a business model which taps into humans' “MMFB” trait (15:40) How to make customers cheer with glee by only accepting credit cards (it's not for convenience or the speed of the credit card either) (16:56) [Investors] Achieve double digit annualized cash flows by washing a Toyota Camry (23:22) Why purchasing “operational real estate” with no idea how to operate it sabotages your ability to sell it for a profit later on (26:29) If you liked the episode, leave me a review on whichever app you listen to podcasts on. Merging professional ambition with managing your home life isn't easy, but I think it's worth it. While you may constantly have to task-switch between meeting professional goals and meeting the needs of your family, the satisfaction that comes from having a foot in each world runs deep. The question is - what do we do with the guilt?! Wondering how our professional ambition will affect our kids keeps a lot of working women up at night, and that's why my guest today decided to investigate. In this episode, I interview Lara Bazelon: attorney, law professor, and author of the book: Ambitious Like a Mother. Lara and I discuss how we can dance with work-life balance, embrace our ambitions and model for our children what it means to live a truly purposeful life. Listen in… Show Highlights Include: Why the word ‘ambition' holds a negative meaning for women (and how looking past that can help you achieve your goals faster) (6:24) The three mother-child archetypes (and how they differ in work-home balance) (7:58) Why it's important to model vulnerability as a leader in the workplace (17:44) Why the children of working mothers fare slightly better than stay at home mothers (26:51) The boring conversations we have to hash out when starting a relationship (instead of going into it blindly) (29:37) Interested in coaching with Brilliant Balance? Scientists discovered that a tiny fraction of the weight of a dime creates enough pressure on your cells to force them to divide. What does that mean for healing yourself from decades of suffering and trauma? Well, it only takes a little nudge of pressure, applied in correct places, to free you from your decades-long misery. Yes, it can be that simple. In fact, when I speak of “Stick Work” that I do at Freedom Specialist Retreats, this is why it can completely liberate you from your trauma in mere moments. If you want to have $20M when you retire, you won't EVER get there by making $150K a year. Sounds like common sense, but most contractors make this mistake. They don't think 5, 10, or even 20 years from now. They only think about the short-term, and how to increase sales by 10 or 15%. But even 15% extra on $100,000 is only $115,000. If you want to hit $20M in the next 20 years, you need to be making at LEAST $1M a year. That's why, in this episode, I reveal the sneaky “1:100” secret you can generate insane levels of wealth with. Midlife is a life chapter I see a lot of women struggle with. It's a time you suddenly start questioning everything you've devoted yourself to for the last couple of decades. All your carefully laid plans don't seem to make sense anymore. You tend to ask: Is this all there is to it? Am I doing enough? Am I enough? Women that experience the midlife blahs go through a range of tough emotions: a sense of boredom, emptiness or sadness. And while it may be mild for some people, it can be intense and hard for others. But you don't have to endure or get comfortable with the midlife blahs. You can shake yourself out of this cycle and find meaning in your life again. In this episode, I'll reveal 5 signs you should look out for to recognize if you're in the mid-life blahs. You'll discover how to regain your sense of excitement, vibrancy and fulfillment. Listen in… Show Highlights Include: Why midlife crisis doesn't always mean a middle aged man with an expensive sports car and younger girlfriend (and the actual effects of mid-life on women) (1:46) 5 signs you're experiencing the mid-life blahs. (2:41) Why you shouldn't get comfortable in the mid-life blahs (and how to feel a sense of fulfillment again) (11:43) The ‘mix-it-up' trick you can use to help yourself stop feeling like you live on autopilot (and how it wakes your brain to a fresh perspective).(12:56) How this ‘weekly tracking' routine helps if things just don't excite you anymore. How can we be lonely when we always seem to be so busy and surrounded by other people? We're constantly at work, on zoom calls, in our homes with children running around, running errands, watching sporting events, and generally living our lives out in the world…and yet, we're isolated. How on earth does that happen? It's because feeling lonely doesn't necessarily mean being alone. Loneliness is a state of mind that occurs when there's a disconnect between our need for human connection and our actual level of connection with the people around us. So how do we get out of this lonely state and foster deeper connections with people around us? In this episode, I'll share with you the questions to ask yourself if you want to build stronger relationships with the people who matter to you. Listen in… Show Highlights Include: Why we don't easily recognize when we're lonely (and how to realize and pull ourselves out of that hole of loneliness). (04:40) The right questions you can ask yourself to forge more meaningful relationships with your loved ones. (06:28) A 3-part formula you can use to foster deeper connection and increase the ‘connective tissue' in your relationships. (08:33) The eye-contact rule for forming higher quality connections with your loved ones. (09:24) How to get beyond cliched small talk and into proper conversation and build an even deeper connection.
