Send us a textA debut album can be a defining moment for any band, but for seasoned vocalist Vicky Psarakis, it's just another challenge to take head-on. When we last spoke with Vicky in 2022, she was fronting melodic death metal outfit The Agonist while simultaneously developing her nu-metal side project, Sicksense. Following The Agonist's breakup, Vicky fully committed to Sicksense, proving that this may have been her true calling all along. Now, she returns to IUF to discuss Cross Me Twice, Sicksense's highly anticipated debut album—a bold fusion of modern metal and electronic elements that brings a fresh energy to the nu-metal resurgence. Despite lineup changes since the band's inception in 2021, Vicky has steered the group forward, solidifying their sound and vision. With over two decades in the industry, a Juno nomination, and an extensive list of guest vocal appearances, her journey is nothing short of inspiring. Tune in now as Vicky shares her story, and be sure to buy and stream Cross Me Twice, out now worldwide via Earache Records.Stay connected with Sicksense, visit: https://soundescapeagency.com/sicksense/, https://www.instagram.com/sickxsense/, and https://www.facebook.com/sickxsense/Stay connected with IUF, visit: https://interviewunderfire.com/

Here's a brand new episode with Vicky and Robby of Sicksense
Vicky Psarakis joins the podcast to speak about the political state of the country following the 2024 US Presidential Election, and together we speak about how the goals of the American people are more aligned than many believe. Vicky, as evidenced by her lyricism in her newest project Sicksense, is no stranger to writing about the common goals and enemies that should be focused on in society, and I very much appreciated having her point of view and discussing how recent events tie into the lyrics of her past and present. Sicksense's new album "Cross Me Twice" is out now

Join Robby and Vicky and I as we get into the end of Vicky's last band and the journey she went on as that wrapped up, and how that lead into her joining/starting Sicksense with Robby. We also get into the resurgence that nu metal has been having in recent years, and how that has been for Robby given his past fronting Stuck Mojo, and reflecting on the quick rise of the genre, and then the hate it received for so long. We talk about the importance of being true to yourself and not chasing trends. We also talk a bit about how Robby and Vicky have taken what they've learned from their other bands and time in the industry and how they are using that to make more informed decisions with what the band is trying to accomplish in the future. All this and more in this chat with the Sicksense vocalists. "I feel like a lot of my journey in music has been intuitive... the thing I love about music is creating it." Will is back in the interview chair this time chatting to Vicky Psarakis, vocalist in Sicksense, formerly of The Agonist and all round vocal powerhouse. Vicky took some time to take a dive into her own musical journey, her gateway into music, falling into something she was good at due to her natural ability and vocal talent, fulfilment in songwriting and potential, breaking into heavy music as a Woman, her own perfectionism and how she has battled with this throughout her career, building a community through streaming and so much more. It's a really special and stacked episode which we are amazingly thankful for. Sicksense will be dropping their sophomore EP 'Fools Tomorrow' this Friday (June 11th) so be sure to check that out. How did 12 Stones singer Paul McCoy come to be involved on 'Bring Me To Life'? This month has been christened 'Sicksense September' here on 'My Classic Album' as members of this fantastic new band join Mike to discuss the classic albums that have inspired them! First up it's Robbie J. Fonts (also of Stuck Mojo) who has chosen the debut album from metal legends Slipknot! Emerging from the Iowa music scene, Slipknot turned metal on it's head upon signing to Roadrunner Records and releasing their first album in 1999. As parents freaked at the masked ninesome, the youth found a band that spoke their language. What unbelievable measures did producer Ross Robinson go to to get the best out of the band in the studio? Which track from 'Slipknot' earned the band their first Grammy nomination? Why was 'Purity' removed from the tracklist shortly after the album's release? For the 4th episode of The Back Lounge Podcast, I had the pleasure of having vocalist Vicky Psarakis of The Agonist & Sicksense back for what will most likely be one of the longest podcasts I ever have. We only spent about 5% of the podcast actually talking about her bands, and the rest was just real, open conversations about a lot of different stuff.
this week With some of the best new rock and metal including Seething Akira , A State Of Romance , Psyence , Canavar , COMPOUNDS , Mountain Eye , Sicksense , Black Water Fiend , I Fight Fail #becko and BLITZ UNION
MALEVOLENCE on broken glass taken from the new album MALICIOUS INTENT Broken glass comes out the gates swinging. So much energy to this track straight away riffs and some killer early tones And then boom the energy intensifies a whole another level. Packed with Riff and powerful hooks what a way to announce yourself to your new label. If you like your music fast and heavy this is for you, I'm really not surprised when you have people like Matt Heafy of Trivium singing this bands praises, every word of praise is fully deserved, I cannot wait to see this band take over the British metal scene Give this one a spin. Some very interesting choice of production here with a trumpet I think it works it's a bold and an interesting move, I liked this and I want to hear me as it touches on bands I love. Next up Sicksense and their new single Kings today Check out the video for Kings Today here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWv8yR2o6Zc Kings Today opens with an explosion of riffs killer production and some great vocal displays you have screams mixed with some rapping and then some melody which I love, these 3 vocal styles together really work well on the track. Whilst these vocals are ongoing added to the mix is this heavy riff matched to slap you in the face. A really cool and fun track keen so see where this bands goes next Sicksense online https://www.facebook.com/sickxsense https://twitter.com/sickxsense https://www.instagram.com/sickxsense lastly this week are Rain City Drive and their latest track Dreams check out the video for Dreams here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WuNIkNcHBvo&feature=youtu.be Rain City Drive online https://raincitydrive.com https://www.facebook.com/raincitydrive https://www.tiktok.com/@raincitydrive https://twitter.com/raincitydrive https://instagram.com/raincitydrive https://www.youtube.com/c/thrillerrecords Dreams is a track that is so different to what I have already featured this week, it's a slightly more of poppier sounding track with a lot of production, but yet it offers a really great feel plenty of energy and some killer hooks in the chorus and the guitar tones sound great. Jenny, Lorin, and Matt discuss the journey of this band, their quick rise and fall, and their rebirth as Sicksense. Along the way they discuss what it takes to make your own “Bodies”, whether the Koach needs to be more considerate when it discusses albums, Venom and Carnage, Jenny on the “furm”, bored hotties, tree ghosts, and whether Keychain's short time together produced enough heat to get into the Nu-Metal Canon. Vicky Psarakis said she had prepared her whole life for what proved a career opportunity. Vicky has made three albums with The Agonist and a new EP, titled "Days Before the World Wept," since replacing original vocalist Alissa White-Gluz. She has more than proven herself with a broad dynamic range and five distinct voices in her sonic pallet—a power clean, a falsetto, growls at two octave levels and a scream. On this episode, Vicky talks about her evolution as a vocalist and songwriter, her creative process within The Agonist and branching out to a second band called Sicksense.
