Jesse Starcher, Robert Cooper, Mik Wanamaker and Mark Radulich present their MSlipknot 25th Anniversary Self Titled 2024 Album Review as part of the MHOD Jukebox!Slipknot is an American heavy metal band formed in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1995 by percussionist Shawn Crahan, former vocalist Anders Colsefni and bassist Paul Gray. After several lineup changes in its early years, the band settled on nine members for more than a decade: Crahan, Gray, Joey Jordison, Craig Jones, Mick Thomson, Corey Taylor, Sid Wilson, Chris Fehn, and Jim Root. Slipknot is well known for its attention-grabbing image, aggressive style of music, and energetic and chaotic live shows. The band rapidly rose to fame following the release of their eponymous debut album in 1999. The 2001 follow-up album, Iowa, although darker in tone, made the band more popular. After a brief hiatus, Slipknot returned in 2004 with Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses), before going on another hiatus and returning in 2008 with its fourth album, All Hope Is Gone, which debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart. After another long hiatus, Slipknot released its fifth studio album, .5: The Gray Chapter, in 2014. Their sixth studio album, We Are Not Your Kind, was released on August 9, 2019. Their seventh studio album, The End, So Far, was released on September 30, 2022. The band has released two live albums titled 9.0: Live and Day of the Gusano: Live in Mexico, a compilation album titled Antennas to Hell, and five live DVDs. The band has sold 30 million records worldwide and over 12 million in their home country.Slipknot is the debut studio album by American heavy metal band Slipknot. It was released on June 29, 1999, by Roadrunner Records, following a demo containing a few of the songs which had previously been released in 1998. Later, it was reissued in December 1999 with a slightly-altered track listing and mastering as the result of a lawsuit. It was the first release by the band to be produced by Ross Robinson, who sought to refine Slipknot's sound rather than alter the group's musical direction. This is the only album to feature original guitarist Josh Brainard who left at the end of recording in late 1998 while the band was taking a brief break. Jim Root, who recorded two tracks at this point, would appear full time on subsequent albums starting with their next album Iowa. The album spans several genres, but is generally noted for its extensive percussion and overall heavy sound. It was well received by fans and critics alike and was responsible for bringing Slipknot a large increase in popularity. The album peaked at number 51 on the Billboard 200, and has gone on to become certified double platinum in the United States, making it the band's best-selling album. In 2011, it was voted the best debut album of the last 25 years by readers of Metal Hammer magazine.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsohttps://www.teepublic.com/user/radulich-in-broadcasting-networkFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76RIBN Album Playlist: https://suno.com/playlist/91d704c9-d1ea-45a0-9ffe-5069497bad59

In this episode of the Nu Pod, hosts Joshua Toomey and Ro Kohli, along with guest Ahrue Luster, former guitarist of Machine Head and current Lions at the Gate, discuss Machine Head's album "The Burning Red," released 25 years ago. They touch on the influence of producer Ross Robinson, the polarizing nature of the album, and its impact on the nu-metal scene. The conversation delves into the recording process, highlighting the emphasis on emotion and feeling in the music. They also explore the opening track, "Enter the Phoenix," and the polarizing "Desire, The Fire," dissecting its origin and unique elements. Ahrue discusses various aspects of his experience during the recording process and touring with Machine Head. He mentions his initial impressions of the band, the challenges faced during recording, and specific details about certain songs such as "Nothing Left," "The Burning Red," "The Blood, The Sweat, The Tears," and "From This Day." Ahrue also shares an anecdote about an incident during the tour with Coal Chamber and Slipknot, highlighting the growing popularity of Slipknot during that time. Ahrue discusses the common tendency of bands to blame labels for low record sales and not receiving enough promotion. They touch upon the perception that external factors contribute to a band's success or lack thereof. The conversation then shifts to the iconic orange jacket worn by Robb Flynn in music videos, revealing it originated from a piece Ahrue had bought at Urban Outfitters but found to have an unusual fit. The orange jacket became a memorable and iconic part of Robb's image. Ahrue shares insights into the making of specific songs, such as "Message in a Bottle," expressing the satisfaction of playing teh opening riff. The interaction with producer Terry Date during the mixing process is highlighted, emphasizing the unique experience of working with him. Overall the guys look back on this record with high praise and great memories.Nu Pod on Instagram @nupod1999 Joshua Toomey on Facebook/Twitter @talktoomeytalk Ro Kohli on Facebook/Twitter @warmachinemerch Subscribe to KNOTFEST YouTube for exclusive performances & in-depth interviews with the most exciting artists in aggressive music, deep dives into iconic artists' discography, and more. Jason Heller de The A.V. Por su parte, The Mediator Between Head and Hands Must Be the Heart tuvo una mejor recepción crítica. Pagina Oficial: https://www.sepultura.com.br/

It was the first release by the band to be produced by Ross Robinson, who sought to refine Slipknot's sound rather than alter the group's musical direction. This is the only album to feature original guitarist Josh Brainard who left at the end of recording in late 1998 while the band was taking a brief break. All Gas, No Brakes Podcast Episode 17: Barry Braun Dueling In The DesertAll Gas, No Brakes host Scott Barglof is joined by Barry Braun, owner of XR Events, todiscuss all things Duel in the Desert taking place November 10th - 12th from the XR Las VegasDirt Track featuring the XR Super Series Late Models, XRSuper Series Karl Kustoms Stock Cars, Modifieds, and Northern Sport Modifieds.Scott and Barry begin by discussing 2020's Duel in the Desert, which featured over 460 cars, and the impact such a bloated entry list had on Braun and XR's approach to running futureXR events. “You're not doing your business justice by hanging your hat on back gatepromoting, whatsoever. Because you're going to bleed your racers, number one. And numbertwo, you're going to run average to, maybe, maybe, sometimes above-average events, ifyou're lucky” says Braun. The discussion then turns to XR's approach to sponsors, or lack thereof, and the positiveimpact this has on the racing product. With Braun pointing out that there are thin margins forsuccess by following the same playbook as everyone else, saying “Just because it's alwaysbeen done, doesn't means it's good business.”Finally, Scott and Barry discuss the significance of the Triple-Double, XR Super Series' driverincentive program that rewards drivers for attending the Colossal 100, Kokomo Dirt Nationals, and the Duel in the Desert by doubling any payout those drivers earn in the Duel in the DesertFinale on November 12th . Bobby Pierce took advantage of the Triple-Double in 2021, comingfrom the back of the field to win and cash in for a cool $100,000. Of which, Braun says “BobbyPierce cost me $50,000 and, you know what, that's awesome.”If you can't make it out to the XR Las Vegas Dirt Track this year, tune into XR.plus to watchRicky Weiss, Ross Robinson, Kyle Strickler, Brendan Smith, Dalton Wilson, Jimmy Owens,Shane Clanton, Tim McCreadie, Chris Madden, Jonathan Davenport, Jeff Smith, BrandonOverton, and Max Blair take their shot at doubling the $25,000-to-win prize. “I'll take thoseguys and match them up, pound-for-pound, to all the touring series out there” says Braun, with pride, of this loaded class of Triple-Double eligible drivers.Copyright © 2022 XR. You can be a nu-metal fan but not be constantly engaging with the classics, particularly a band's--by their own admission--rushed second album. We know about the legacy of the self-titled. We know about how many copies Follow the Leader sold. But where does "Life is Peachy" fit into Korn's legacy as a band, and the legacy of nu-metal as a whole in 2022? Well, it turns out that both Bryan and John were very pleasantly surprised by how much they liked it still. It completely whips, and we have fun getting into all of it. We discuss Ross Robinson's "improved" production, why exactly Jonathan Davis is so mad at Mr. Rogers, what a song consisting of the most vile words the English language has is doing on the album, and why there's two covers over the span of 3 songs. It's a testament both to Korn's excess at the time, but also the limited scope and budget with which they had to operate that excess. It's an album that has some of Korn's absolutely best songs, and some of their most baffling decisions, but ultimately stands the true test of time. And of course, we dig into the interviews and get more of these dumb guys saying very dumb things. It's Korn, what do you expect? What you can expect over on our Patreon is THREE bonus episodes every single month for the low price of $4. This month has been christened 'Sicksense September' here on 'My Classic Album' as members of this fantastic new band join Mike to discuss the classic albums that have inspired them! First up it's Robbie J. Fonts (also of Stuck Mojo) who has chosen the debut album from metal legends Slipknot! Emerging from the Iowa music scene, Slipknot turned metal on it's head upon signing to Roadrunner Records and releasing their first album in 1999. As parents freaked at the masked ninesome, the youth found a band that spoke their language. What unbelievable measures did producer Ross Robinson go to to get the best out of the band in the studio? Which track from 'Slipknot' earned the band their first Grammy nomination? Why was 'Purity' removed from the tracklist shortly after the album's release? PLUS: Enjoy 'Kings Today', the title track from Sicksense's debut EP! Jesse Rhys Cannon on the Virtual Sessions presented by The DJ Sessions 6/22/22 About Jesse Rhys Cannon - I somehow got my first work being paid in the music business when I was 15. Since then I've managed to work in nearly every facet of the music business. If a stranger happens to know who I am, they usually know me from being lucky enough to have worked on records in various capacities with bands like The Cure, Animal Collective, The Misfits, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Brand New, Limp Bizkit, Man Overboard, Somos, Basement, Kevin Devine, Weird Al Yankovic, NOFX and The Menzingers. I'm also known for writing the book Get More Fans: The DIY Guide To The New Music Business, which has gone on to be one of the most popular books on the music business as well as the best selling book on creativity in music Processing Creativity: The Tools, Practices And Habits Used To Make Music You're Happy With. I also host two podcasts, Off The Record and Noise Creators and write articles on the music business for various sites like Alternative Press and Party Smasher Inc. along with a handful of others. But that doesn't explain how I got to do all of that and that's what I'm supposed to explain here. When I was 15 I started to get paid for doing live sound at concerts and spoken word events. Two years later, a hilarious and fun guy by the name of Stork liked my mixes and invited me to engineer live performances at the world-renowned freeform radio station WFMU. There I was lucky enough to work for 9 years recording acts like The Magnetic Fields, Spoon, The Sea and The Cake, Olivia Tremor Control and a couple hundred others. Because of this I started doing live sound at local clubs The Pipeline and Connections. In time, I started booking shows for the company that booked those clubs and the legendary Coney Island High in NYC. Somewhere in this time I got my first credit on a record singing back up vocals on a song with Joey & Dee Dee Ramone, which I still question if I've ever topped. Those jobs gave me enough courage to put on my own concerts, and be crazy enough to think I knew what I was doing enough to start recording local bands. But all of this would happen at night, so I needed a day job. I then started working at my local punk record store (Let It Rock), which then qualified me to work at Soapbox Records on St. Marks Place in NYC. This was great since it also housed esteemed indie label Go-Kart Records where I ran the record store and did publicity. While I love marketing, PR is way too social for me and I preferred talking to creative people instead of cranky zine editors. I was also writing for the esteemed zines of the day like Tape Op, Punk Planet and Maximum RockNRoll. So I decided to stop doing live sound and working at record labels in order to focus on record production. My boss at Go Kart was kind enough to give me a recommendation to Alan Douches at West West Side Music, who happens to be the engineer with the most credits in all of music history. At West West Side I got to learn how to engineer and master from the best in the business. Not only did I get to work under Alan's amazing talent, the best producers in the business were coming by every day (J. Robbins, John Agnello, Brian McTernan) as well as the coolest bands around seemed to walk in the door every day (Fatboy Slim, Fall Out Boy, LCD Soundsystem, Brand New). In that time, I met Steve Evetts (one of my favorite producers growing up) and got to work with him on great records by The Dillinger Escape Plan, Senses Fail, Saves The Day and Say Anything. He then brought me to work with Ross Robinson (my other favorite producer growing up) and I got to work with The Cure & Limp Bizkit among others under him. While all that was happening, two other significant parts of the story happened. I harnessed my own production skills and they became so in demand I started my own studio Cannon Found Soundation, which I still run to this day working with hundreds of bands a year. In that time these two interests collided and I decided to start a blog on the things other blogs weren't writing about in music and wanted to show all the secrets being hidden since that's the most punk thing you can do and punk is the closest thing I have to a religion. This blog became Musformation, a blog I continued through 2015, when I decided to diversify my writing across sites with bigger audiences. The blog's music business articles seemed to be very popular and really resonated, so I decided to go with it. I started helping and then managing the two most promising bands I was producing — Man Overboard and Transit, so I could experiment with the ideas I was writing about. These ideas turned out to be right and both signed with one of the biggest indies in the world (Rise Records) and built massive fan bases under my watch. That was fun and all, but managing and producing records full-time do not mix. So those bands went their way and I kept producing records. A lot of bands asked me to manage them, but I like sleep and hate stress so I decided against that option. I instead put out my book Get More Fans, so every band could learn everything I did working with them and researching the new music business. Because of that book I got a reputation for knowing music tech, which led me to getting approached to do the podcast, Off The Record and form Noise Creators, a service I co-founded that helps connect musicians with the best producers in music today. I now host Atlantic Records Inside The Album where I make audio documentaries on the creative processes of some of the best artists in music like Dashboard Confessional, nothing.nowhere, Jason Mraz and Vance Joy. In 2017 I released Processing Creativity to much praise, I am presently working on a bunch of conversations I want to have on how we change the way people create music to reflect when creative science says enhances creativity. I am trying to change the way records are made and always looking for bands who are interested in doing something new and interesting. I am presently producing, mixing and mastering records 7 days a week and developing a documentary. In 2019 I relaunched Musformation as a YouTube channel to start distributing the knowledge I've acquired to a new audience. As well I relaunched MusforMGMT where I am handling marketing and label services to established artists. In 2020 I took on production duties for the hit podcast The Daily Beast's The New Abnormal as well as their other fantastic podcasts Fever Dreams & The Last Laugh. In 2021 I opened Podstream Studios a live streaming & podcast studio in the heart of Times Square as well as Brooklyn Recording Paradise Brooklyn's most enjoyable recording environment.
