In this episode of the Soulfull Sound podcast, I'm joined by the very talented Solomon Golding. London born; Solomon is quickly becoming one of the brightest talents in the dance world and has made history by becoming the first black British born dancer in The Royal Ballet's 85-year history. He has worked with some of the world's leading choreographers including Wayne McGregor, Crystal Pite and Hofesh Shechter to name a few, casting him in leading roles and world premieres. He has also begun generating interest in the fashion world having been photographed by some of the world's top photographers including Harley Weir and David LaChappelle and been featured in fashion films for I-D Magazine and Selfridges. He also had a ten-page spread in BoysbyGirls magazine and was featured in the 2018 September issue of Tatler magazine. In this episode Solomon talks about his experiences in the dance world so far, from being a black man in ballet to the resilience and stamina needed to become successful in this arena. About Solomon Golding Solomon Golding trained at The Royal Ballet School for 8 years , graduating and joining The Hong Kong Ballet in 2012. Six months into his contract, Solomon was offered jobs at The Boston Ballet in the United States and The Royal ballet in London. Upon finishing the remainder of his contract with The Hong Kong Ballet, Solomo n returned to London to join The Royal Ballet in 2013 becoming the first Black-British born dancer to do so. Solomon was offered a contract to dance with The San Francisco Ballet and has been dancing with them since June 2017. Solomon's interest in the creative arts doesn't stop at ballet – Solomon collaborated with his brother, Amartey Golding, on an art film exploring black male sexuality and masculinity and its representation within modern day narratives. The film was shown at The London Art Fair 2017 garnering rave reviews and being hailed as “The London Art Fair showstopper…” by The Art Newspaper. Solomon also has a keen interest in fashion. Mark Twain het gesê dat die kerk bestaan uit goeie mense wat staan voor goeie mense en hulle leer om goeie mense te wees. Dank God dit is nie die waarheid nie, maar wel ‘n perspektief op godsdienspleging. Die ware kerk bestaan nie, om mense net beter te maak nie. Die kerk verkondig Jesus Christus, die algehele transformasie van die mens! Die kerk se primêre besigheid is: Transformasie en verandering! Verandering is iets wat ons almal nodig het. Dit is ‘n deurlopende deel van die lewe. VERNADERING IS KONSTANT Met sy konstante vloed vereis die lewe aanpassings vir ons skedules en planne. In wese is verandering die nuwe norm. Die geestelike lewens van mense roep na meer as ligte veranderinge aan die kalender. Hul lewens het transformasie nodig. Die verandering wat mense nodig het, is nie net om ‘n beter mens te wees nie; Dit sou ‘n groot misverstand van verandering en transformasie wees. Die evangelie is groter as eenvoudige moralisme, en mense moet die aard van transformasie verstaan. Ware Transformasie is die gelowige ontvang en leef van SY lewe elke dag! Ons weet inherent instinktief dat ons moet verander: maar die waarheid is, ons kan nie onsself verander nie. Ons is geskape in die Beeld van God, maar sonde het hierdie beeld in ons misvorm. Ons hunker om terug te keer na hierdie beeld soos ‘n verkleurmannetjie altyd terugkeer na sy ware kleur. Die probleem is, ons oorspronklike self is misvorm, en wanneer ons terugkeer na ons mees oorspronklike self, is ons nog steeds nie Christus nie. Ons is in Sy beeld geskape, Hy is ons ware noord, ons mees oorspronklike eerste vorm. Net Hy kan Sy beeld in ons herstel. Afgodery is om God te vervorm volgens ons beeld. Hy wil ons transformeer na Sy beeld! Verandering vind plaas omdat jy Sy veranderde lewe in die geloof ontvang het, nie omdat jouself voorgeneem het om ‘n nuwe blaai om te slaan nie: Transformasie kom nie uit besluite wat op 1 Januarie gemaak is nie. Dis eerder ‘n herskepping en wedergeboorte wat uit die nuwe lewe in Christus kom. Die verandering wat mense nodig het, is nie in hul omstandighede nie, maar in hulleself. Dit is nie die vermoë om harder te probeer nie, maar om die Lewe van Jesus te leef wat Hy aan ons toevertrou het by ons eerste oorgawe aan Hom in die geloof. Transformasie vind plaas nie omdat ons “doen nie”, maar omdat Christus “gedoen het.” “Iemand wat aan Christus behoort, is ‘n nuwe mens. Die oue is verby, die nuwe het gekom.” (2 Cor 5:17) Sien die nuut in hierdie vers is nie ‘n proses nie, dis alreeds gedoen! Ons is nuut! Hy het ons in ‘n oomblik nuut gemaak by wedergeboorte! Die hart van die Christelike geloof draai om verandering, maar dit draai nie oor ‘n nuwe blaadjie omslaan nie – dit leef ‘n nuwe lewe. Christelike transformasie behels altyd iets wat oud is en verbygaan en iets nuuts wat sy plek inneem. (Col 3:5-15) Ons is beklee met ‘n nuwe mens, ‘n nuwe beeld, ‘n nuwe natuur wat hunker na sy mees oorspronklikste vorm… Jesus Chritsus die beeld van God. (Heb 1:3) Hierdie nuwe lewe begin in Christus by God, in HOM. Godsdiens sê: ‘Ek gehoorsaam; daarom word ek aanvaar. “Die Christendom sê:” Ek is aanvaar, daarom gehoorsaam ek.” Solomo in al sy wysheid en rykdom kon nie homself verander nie en sien alle pogings as nutteloos en kom uiteidelik tot niks. “Wat krom is, kan nie reguit word nie” (Eccl 1: 12-18) Die feit is, ons kan nie onsself verander nie! Jy kan ook nie jou maat verander nie! Net die skepper kan skepping verander, skepping kan nie skepping verander nie. As God skepping gebruik om verandering te bring is dit ‘n ander saak. Dis dan egter Hy wat nog steeds die verandering werk. (Phil 2:13) Nikodemus die fariseër wat verandering en toewyding geleef het, kon nie homself verander nie. SOns kan eenvoudig nie volhou met die reëls en self-bekragtigde pogings en metodes nie. Ons het nie meer reëls nodig nie, maar eerder ‘n nuwe lewe. (Joh 3:3) Reëls kan gedrag verander, maar slegs die evangelie kan nuwe lewe
