Today we conclude the series on Obedience by focusing on Relentless Obedience. When we think of being relentless, we think of someone who is fully determined to reach his or her goal. Our goal is following Christ. In today’s study we will identify four characteristics of following Christ in Relentless Obedience.

Genesis 40 and 41 give the account of Joseph's ascent to power in Egypt with God's help. In time of severe famine, by God's wisdom communicated through Joseph, not only was Egypt spared, but so also the surrounding countries. Important lessons can be learned as we reflect on the text.

This sermon's passage is the harshest warning against the misuse of wealth in all of Scripture. Money is one of the chief, if not the chief, competitor for our affections. It promises security, comfort, enjoyment. So what is the balance of using it while keeping Jesus as our priority and source of satisfaction? Listen and take the challenge.

In the final week of our series on Proverbs, our Founding Pastor, Willie George, reveals that all throughout Scripture, God blesses His children with three different kinds of storehouses. God doesn't want you to worry about your money, but He does want you to think about it. He wants to take what you lay down to multiply it and glorify it.

Luke 12:16-21; Ephesians 2:4-10. Alas, I still feel the effects of Covid (mind fog, a cough). In this homily on overcoming our limitations through discipline and grace, I overshared (twice!), squashed three points, and overshot my landing. Despite this, I hope you find something useful in there somewhere. Enjoy the show!

This Scripture and Message were given at Greenfield Presbyterian Church in Berkley, MI. The Scripture Lesson is Luke 12:13-21 Warning against greed 13 Someone from the crowd said to him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.” 14 Jesus said to him, “Man, who appointed me as judge or referee between you and your brother?” 15 Then Jesus said to them, “Watch out! Guard yourself against all kinds of greed. After all, one's life isn't determined by one's possessions, even when someone is very wealthy.” 16 Then he told them a parable: “A certain rich man's land produced a bountiful crop. 17 He said to himself, What will I do? I have no place to store my harvest! 18 Then he thought, Here's what I'll do. I'll tear down my barns and build bigger ones. That's where I'll store all my grain and goods. 19 I'll say to myself, You have stored up plenty of goods, enough for several years. Take it easy! Eat, drink, and enjoy yourself. 20 But God said to him, ‘Fool, tonight you will die. Now who will get the things you have prepared for yourself?' 21 This is the way it will be for those who hoard things for themselves and aren't rich toward God.”
God helps me to be faithful no matter what happens. “ ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things' ” (Matthew 25:23, NIV).

In this week's episode, Ryan and Jake talk through Nehemiah 13, and the controversy that erupts when Nehemiah revisits Jerusalem after some time away. When he arrives, he finds things in disarray and one of his fiercest enemies has made himself an apartment in the temple courts. How could this happen? Small compromises and creeping sin. God's Word gives us an action plan for evicting the things in our life that take up the space that God is entitled to.
The Lord will bless your storehouses. Learn how to prepare it in order for abundant blessings to flow through.
