This week, Aebhric talks with Frida Svahn, a nurse from Sweden, who discusses her experiences teaching medical training in various countries and her work with the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB). She shares her journey from serving in the Swedish Armed Forces to becoming a nurse and her passion for working in austere environments. Frida highlights the importance of training the trainers and its impact in countries like Ukraine. She also mentions the upcoming National Seminar Exercise in Sweden and the role of MSB in civil defence and NATO. Frida advises new healthcare professionals interested in working in austere environments to invest in good courses, build a network, and stay motivated.   Takeaways Teaching medical training in austere environment is a rewarding experience that allows healthcare professionals to make a difference in countries like Ukraine. MSB plays a significant role in civil defence and NATO, providing training and expertise in emergency response and crisis management. Investing in good courses, building a network, and staying motivated are essential for healthcare professionals working in austere environments. Training the trainers is a force multiplier that spreads knowledge and skills to a larger population. Sweden's upcoming National Seminar Exercise will involve multiple nations, focusing on casualty move and patient flow management.

We're back! After a long hiatus, sharing military anecdotes from various listeners. We just want to advise too that this episode needs a trigger warning, as it does involve a death. The first story is from Duck Force One, recounting an incident where a tiny Indian conscript driving an XO's car in a convoy was hit by another car, leading to a humorous moment when 90 soldiers rushed to the scene. Snipars 0202 shares his experience in Finnish bootcamp, where he dealt with an irresponsible team member who caused a fire and later slept on duty. The incident led to a stressful interrogation but ended with a comedic weapon inspection moment. Typhoon_Delta tells about a field training exercise where he fell asleep during observation duty. Recon soldiers passed by without noticing him, teaching him a lesson about staying awake in the field. Artysupport7757 describes a tragic mishap during an artillery exercise that resulted in the death of an infantry officer due to a misfired phosphorus round. The incident led to significant changes in their unit and the end of 81mm mortar use. Cooked Parasite shares a light-hearted story from his service in the Swedish Armed Forces. During a cold and windy training session, his team had a humorous conversation about food while hanging high up in a tower, creating a memorable bonding moment. Average_Guy54 recounts his harrowing gas mask training experience. After several failed attempts to seal his mask and multiple exposures to CS gas, it was discovered that his canister was empty, leading to a final successful attempt with a borrowed mask. YEMEN VOWS RETALIATION FOR STRIKES. -----BEGIN TEARLINE------International Events-Middle East: Following major airstrikes within Yemen, Houthi forces have vowed to retaliate. A few hours after the American and British attacks, Yemeni forces conducted an attack on a commercial shipping vessel. The attack was unsuccessful as the missile fired at the vessel missed, splashing down within 500m of the ship.Around the region, an observable increase in rocket attacks originating from Hezbollah in Lebanon was noted last night, but no indicators of a major offensive effort are present yet.Europe: Panic buying is underway in Sweden following statements by government officials regarding the possibility of war. Defense Minister Bohlin stated that “there could be war in Sweden”. The Supreme Commander of the Swedish Armed Forces reinforced these statements, urging the public that “On an individual level, you have to prepare yourself mentally”. AC: Though these statements are not out of the ordinary considering events in Europe, hearing such blunt admissions by high-ranking officials has been shocking for many Swedes. There are no indicators that war will break out in Sweden imminently, but as tensions remain extremely high throughout the continent, general preparedness is a prudent goal for citizens to consider.-HomeFront-TX: Significant developments are underway at the southern border. The State of Texas has seized land surrounding the infamous Shelby Park in Eagle Pass. TX National Guard forces have deployed in positions so as to block federal CBP agents from accessing the border. The adjacent boat launch also used by CBP is also now off limits to federal agents. This move comes following months of federal agents cutting razor wire, removing barricades, and directly aiding and abetting illegal immigration. As a reminder, last week DHS officials confirmed that over 85% of all illegals encountered at the border are not currently being deported, but instead being released into the United States.Washington D.C. – Congress voices objection to not approving airstrikes in a nation the U.S. is not at war with. Questions also remain following Pentagon statements that SECDEF Austin allegedly approved the strikes from his hospital bed.Analyst Comments: Though tensions between agencies have been common at the southern US border for years, recent developments have shifted attitudes into more of an adversarial nature. As history has proven, the impacts that state vs. federal conflict can have are often underestimated before flashpoints occur. Likewise, the use of armed soldiers by both sides presents even more opportunities for substantial mistakes to be made.Following the strikes in Yemen, the main question remains: “What happens next?”. Yemeni forces will likely repair or replace damaged facilities and equipment over the next few weeks. Calling into question the philosophical nature of an air war, it is hard to argue that even substantial targeting within a nation will be totally successful. As such, Yemen will be quick to prove that the strikes did not remove all of their combat power, and will likely increase targeting of US Navy vessels in the region. Commercial shipping companies will likely be hesitant to resume operations as one airstrike is not likely to reduce Yemeni capabilities enough for ships to become confident in transiting the Red Sea. Especially considering the Houthis are now overly motivated to carry out strikes on commercial shipping, to reaffirm their military dominance in the region.-----END TEARLINE-----Analyst: S2AEND REPORTNNNN

Business Coaching with Join Up Dots

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a lady who has been wowing the theatre world in London's West End and rocking arenas all over the world for the last few years. During her 25 years in the industry, she has lived and worked all over the world, first starting as an entertainer at Sunwing performing with dance bands, soul, jazz, pop and cover bands, to finally landing bigtime in rock music. But it hasnt been instant success and for many years she worked as a backing singer for many of  Sweden's most popular singers, dreaming of the time that she could push them out of the spotlight and truly show what she could do. On February 2, 2008, she found the door that could allow her talent to shine big-time when she won the Swedish talent show West End Star onTV. The prize for winning was the leading role as "Lady of the Lake" in the London West End production of the Monty Python musical Spamalot. She moved to London to play the lead, which at that time was the biggest role played by a Swedish performer in the West End for a very long time, and made over 500 performances In July of that year she was back in Sweden leaving the London stage for a while, and performed a song at the popular Swedish television show Allsång på Skansen, where she was approached by the BBC to compete in the UK Eurovision selection event; she declined the offer. But this is not just the story of a lady working hard and getting a break in the business, as today's guest is also someone who loves to give back and entertain audiences that perhaps are not her target audience, such as appearing in Afghanistan, Kosovo, Liberia and Mali for the Swedish Armed Forces. So has this always been a passion, even as a small girl, or did she just find something that she could do very well? And what has the been the hardest part, the struggle to get there, or to stay there? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Nina Soderquist. Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Nina Soderquist such as: How she looks back she can clearly see the dots joining up her life, and loves the fact that her future is a walk into the unknown. Scary sometimes but something that she relishes. Why she wishes that she had got a better manager in the early days of her life, as her journey to success would have been so much shorter. How she listens to her own songs, and sometimes appreciates them, but struggles to get past the critic in her. She allows the audience to show her what is good or not. and lastly…. Why she rarely sings away from the stages of the world, and has never ever done karaoke in her life.....shock!!!
