Meanwhile, Houston legends Big Pokey and Lil Keke make an appearance on “Southside Royalty Freestyle” alongside Sauce Walka. Megan Thee Stallion and Dua Lipa are both Grammy-winning artists, and it was only a matter of time before the rapper and hitmaking singer linked up for a song. “Sweetest Pie” is a pop-rap collab that serves as the lead single off Meg's upcoming second album — and according to Megan, it went through several different iterations. Megan and Dua Lipa are two of the hottest stars in the music industry at the moment, so it's no surprise that the two joined forces for a song. According to Megan, she wanted to make a song with Lipa a long time ago. “I love Dua Lipa. She's so fire,” the rapper said in June 2021. “I really do want to do a song with Dua Lipa. I saw this mashup on Twitter and it was fire.” Dua Lipa shared the clip and confirmed her desire to make a song with Megan. “I love you @TheeStallion,” the “Levitating” singer said. “Let's get it!!!!” Megan told Zane Lowe in a March 2022 interview for Apple Music that hearing how her and Lipa's songs sound together is what inspired her to collaborate with the “Levitating” singer. “I would everybody making mashups of me and Dua's songs and I'm like, ‘No, this sounds too good. We have to make a song,'” she recalled. She eventually reached out to the British pop star herself. “I was like, ‘Dua, I really want us to do a song, but I got to find that right beat. It has to be perfect,'” she recounted. “So I didn't just send her no any track. I waited till I had the perfect one and I feel like we both came to a mutual agreement that it was greatness.
