KR Riiber wrote one of the best plays I've ever seen, Tangles & Plaques, a show about dementia and memory care borne from their time as an ensemble member of the Neo-Futurists, the Chicago theater group with core tenets like honesty, brevity, risk & chance, and transformation. Hmmmm, sound like any other show/podcast you know??? Jk, this is not exactly a "brevity" podcast. Truly though, the Neos have been a huge influence on my work, and I'm excited to finally welcome KR to the ranks of Neo-Futurists I've had on the show. The afterlife they imagine in response to the show's first big question is so rich and provides a scaffolding for everything else in the episode. What a treat! We talk about: divorce, Marfan syndrome, how live performance contains the possibility of failure, "graduating" from the Neo-Futurists, worry vs. practicality in response to traumatic news, a life-changing improv exercise.Support the show and get the TIYA After Dark feed on Patreon:https://www.patreon.com/thisisyourafterlifeFollow KR:https://www.krriiber.com/Follow/contact This Is Your Afterlife:https://thisisyourafterlife.com/https://www.instagram.com/thisisyourafterlife/thisisyourafterlifepodcast@gmail.comMusic by TIYA house band Lake Mary:https://lakemary.bandcamp.com/https://www.instagram.com/chaz.prymek/Artwork by Matt Sage:https://www.instagram.com/matthewjsage/

Prince William made a personal gesture during the Sandringham Christmas walk by greeting a familiar royal superfan and introducing him to his children, as crowds gathered for the traditional festivities. The moment was also acknowledged by King Charles, who recognised the man's ever-growing badge collection. The episode also revisits lighter royal moments, including Prince William's modest shopping habits, a Windsor pub installing a commemorative plaque after a royal visit, and Kate enjoying a low-key theatre outing with Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis in Norfolk.Looking ahead, two thousand and twenty six is shaping up to be a significant year for the Royal Family, with health milestones, Prince George's transition to secondary school, possible overseas travel and growing expectations around the next generation. We also turn briefly to Norway, where the upcoming trial of Marius Borg Høiby is expected to place renewed scrutiny on Europe's royal households, as senior members of the Norwegian Royal Family speak publicly about the strain of the case.Hear our new show "Crown and Controversy: Prince Andrew" here.Check out "Palace Intrigue Presents: King WIlliam" here.

Then RFK Jr. moves to ban gender-affirming care for minors, and Pags plays the key sound bites you need to hear to fully understand why he says this is about protecting American children. Finally, former Congressman and Judge Ted Poe joins the show for a razor-sharp legal breakdown. They cover whether POTUS can strike drug boats off the coast of Venezuela, the legality of entering Venezuela by land or sea, what's really happening in Ukraine, the rise of ISIS attacks worldwide, and ICE operations in Minneapolis and Chicago. Molecular biologist Judith Frydman studies the nuances of protein folding and how defects in the process lead to neurodegenerative diseases. Her team studies protein folding in human cells and in model organisms, like yeast and worms, to understand the molecular events that precipitate harmful protein defects in humans. In one example, Frydman's team explored how aging affects the creation and the quality of proteins in the brain, leading to cognitive problems. She is now looking to develop therapies – someday perhaps leading to cures – to debilitating diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Huntington's, ALS, and others. The power of science gives her true hope in these important pursuits, Frydman tells host Russ Altman in this episode of Stanford Engineering's The Future of Everything podcast.Have a question for Russ? The boss of a Southland RSA is not pulling his punches after thieves pinched burial plaques off soldiers graves at an Invercargill cemetery. Police believe they were stolen from the St Johns Cemetery sometime between the 28th of October and November 22nd. The brass plates marked the graves of World War I and World War II veterans and those who served in the Korean war. President of the Awarua RSA, Ian Becker spoke to Lisa Owen.

Carotid Artery Ultrasound and Longevity The opposite of longevity is death. If longevity is what we seek we must obsess about death, and those things that increase the risk of us dying. #1 Killer – Cardiovascular DiseaseCardiovascular disease is the biggest killer on the block claiming the lives of 1 in every 3 people worldwide. Almost 1 million people a year die from cardiovascular disease in the United States alone, often due to events like heart attacks and strokes. The main cause of cardiovascular disease is atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis Thickening and hardening of the artery walls caused by the deposition of plaque (made of cholesterol, fats, other materials) into the blood vessel walls. Plaques can slowly grow causing occlusion of a blood vessel (stenosis). Plaques can also rupture, leading to blood clots (ischemic heart attacks, strokes, and other infarctions). Plaques can also break away from the walls, forming emboli (also causing ischemic heart attacks, strokes, and other infarctions). Infarction: Obstruction of blood supply to an organ or region of tissue (usually from a blood clot or embolis) Thickening of blood vessel walls, plaques, and restriction of blood flow can all be visualized using Carotid ultrasound. In the body, if blood vessel disease (e.g. atherosclerosis) is seen at one area, it is likely present in other areas as well. As such: Carotid Ultrasound is a very important Longevity Metric. If you have a history of disordered eating or are struggling with body-related mental health challenges, you might wish to explore some of our other helpful tools. There are clinical terms used by our speakers about body size or body weight that you might find triggering. Key among them is the word ‘obesity.' While it is the scientifically correct name for a disease and a common clinical term, NPF acknowledges that this word is triggering and problematic, and it is used only for the clearest of accuracy.
